Its interesting that a few of the reserve squad are listed in the MU team on prem fantasy football:

Fryers (although tottenham bound apparently), kean M, cole, lingard, keam W

I guess they have been promoted!

Hello all,

Thought id share my views on the rvp deal, im really happy about this one as he and wazza can form a great partnership, i just hope it doesn't stunt wellbecks growth as i think he is a great modern forward who can do everything, if we can mature him we could end up with the complete package with him, he can hold up the ball, pass, great skill, great technical ability etc.
For all those who question the rvp deal as not the answer to our problems i agree, but neither was moura, they are both risks but one has played 8 seasons in the prem and has a really gd goals/games strike rate, and one is a 19yr old who has only played in brazil and had a shed load of baggage i,e his agent.
I think we have took the right one, i also think with our money being tight due to the glazers taking it out of our clubs fergie is slowly building a sqaud with amazing talent, all you have to do is look at our signings and departures over last 3 seasons, we signed smallling,de gea, jones, and with the twins and evans coming through we have a really talented back line mixed with expirence, and let go the dead wood i.e brown, o'shea etc, in midfield we have brought kagawa young, valencia, and with lingarrd, tunners and petteruci and cleverly coming through have great attakng midfielders, and up front chicha, and rvp mixed with up and coming wellbeck and keane we have an amazing riches in strikers (which fergie has always liked) the only missing link is that deep lying midfeilder that builds from our talented defence to our amazing attack.
Now we all kow fergie really liked modric but spurs were being silly and not willing to sell in the PL so ened up get 5-10m less than they could but hey that is spurs all over, now im seeing linked with meirless LOL yea that the answer!
So where do we go from here? if we do sign that midfielder we are looking for what a transfers window we have had if not, oh well we will still have a great season, how can we not with all our attacking players?
So heres for a very exciting season ahead, either way the rest of the window goes it going to be epic and city had better not ONCE rest on the laurels of ONE gd season cause we are going to be stronger this season!

thanks all for reading

p.s sorry, i only post once a week or so and all of them are very long but hope u all enjoy the read :)

Just a point guys goin on about RVP being worth 24ml but do people ever remember a certain Nigel De Jong goin to Wastelands for 18 mil..who's got the bargain

Believable4 Unbelievable1

Was De Jong on the last year of his contract though?

Agree1 Disagree1

No he wasnt in the last year of his contract but if city had waited 6 months longer he had a minimum release fee clause of 1.6 mill that would have been activated. and that is still more than he is worth.

Clearly Fergie thinks we have enough in midfield barring injuries and I am not too fussed we haven't added bought someone in though I would like us too. Cleverley if he stays fit will be the solution in midfield with Carrick and then Anderson, Scholes, Jones, Giggs, Fletcher, Tunners, Petrucci and Kagawa can all play there. I am confused as to where Kagawa will play with all these attacking options.

SAF stated at the RVP press conference that we are now done in the transfer market ( for this window)

So just bogus rumours from now on?

Or is he using that as a negotiating tactic? How real is our interest in Witsel or Dembele?

After assessing our summer signings if it ends here this has to be one of our good summers yet. I understand there are some worries like LB and a true CM but we should be happy. Powell and Henriquez are youthful exciting talent, Kagawa with his technical skill will boost our attack, and van Persie who is a world class striker from a "rival".

Van nistilroy and Henry were both devastating, but would they, had the played to gather be as devastating as I expect Rooney and van Persie to be?
Roonbest

Believable2 Unbelievable0

No because they were both very similar in their style of play... Rooney likes to drop deep of and play of a central striker whereas Van Persie very much is the central striker

RedKnight

Agree1 Disagree0

I disagree. RVN was a poacher who only scored one goal from outside the box where as Henry liked to drop off and come in off the left. I think they wouldve fitted together well.

Box-to-Box midfielder but very good at breaking the play up... Similar sort of role as Fletcher but with more strength and more ability on the ball

Hi guys, once again I'm a Liverpool fan coming in peace. Just want to engage in meaningful, insult-free debate. The thing, is looking at your current squad, don't you think you're pretty weak in central midfield?

Fletcher's pretty awesome but he just recovered from the horrible disease. Carrick's decent. Cleverley is promising but is relatively inexperienced. Scholes and Giggs are legends and sheer class, but they're nearing retirement. And I don't rate Anderson. Maybe it's just me. I don't know!

Looking at your suggested line-ups, one that intrigues me is RVP and Rooney up top, with Valencia and Nani on the wing, Kagawa in the hole and Carrick in the holding midfield role. While this is a good lineup offensively, don't you think such lineups (with your star players) will get you guys overrun in midfield and potentially hit on the break?

I really think you need to sign a good central midfielder who not only can dictate the play but serve as an enforcer as well, breaking up the opposition as well. Don't you guys agree that your midfield needs beefing up with 1-2 quality CMs? Looking forward to see your views.

YNWAsin16

Believable10 Unbelievable2

I know you come in peace but you have been spending way too much time studying our squad.

1redarmy

Agree2 Disagree7

I know you said you come and peace and all, Bur seriously, If i was you id be more concerned about my own team rather than worry about what United have to do. For instance, Today the official LFC website put up 10 facts abouth the new bloke assemenbili or whatever his name is. Fact #9 was...

9. His FIFA 2012 profile gives him 91/100 for acceleration, 90/100 for agility and 86/100 dribbling. The area he needs to work on - if the football console is to be believed - is slide tackling, at which they rate him 24/100.

My mate text me and told me and i didnt believe him that it was true, so i checked it out and its true. I swear to god i laughed for about 5 solid minutes. The mighty LFC uses a computer games stats to show off a new player, You couldnt make it up, Brilliant.

Anyway, Thanks for taking the time to worry about our squad, Peace :)

Dylan

Agree6 Disagree4

Two words. Javi Martinez. But sadly the player would cost far too much money and is on the brink of a move to Munich

Fagan

Agree5 Disagree0

Totally agree with you mate, need another experienced holding player in there, i would have liked to have signed one of your old stars, ALONSO, but ive heard he going back to you, still a great player, anyway thanx for your unbiased comments, not many of us left.

Agree4 Disagree1

I think Fergie is expecting Cleverley to step up and to be honest I think if he stays fit he can as he has shown for Team GB and England in Pre-Season, With Carrick and Cleverley then Anderson Scholes, Giggs, Fletcher and Jones covering I am happy about that but if we have an injury crisis like last season we will end up fighting for 2nd not 1st.

Agree0 Disagree5

Scholes - One more season in him
Jones - Can fill in for central midfield defensively
Carrick - can play deep and hold
Anderson - I DO rate him, needs a run and to stay injury free, work hard and get his confidence back, but still only the same age as Cleverly if Im right and still can be a wonderful player
Cleverly - Wonderful awareness, am being more and more impressed with him. Not saying to be offensive or open up a debate, but I think he is a superior version of a good player you have just signed in Allen
Fletcher - Who knows
Powell/Tunnicliffe - Two youngsters to step in possibly
I believe we will play 4-2-3-1 If so that is two midfield slots and we have 8 possible players. I think we have been short in midfield but I think there are more than enough options to review in another year when Scholes goes, if Fletcher/Anderson fail etc. I wouldnt mind another midfielder but there really arent many out there.
Invisible STuey

Agree1 Disagree4

Although I agree with the sentiment in your post YNWAsin16, I really do rate Anderson as a CDM behind Cleverley and Kagawa. I fear bringing in another CDM will mean Anderson leaving which at 24 would be a shame as I think this could be his season at United. Ianskip

Agree3 Disagree4

Anderson as a CDM? You can't be serious, in no shape or form does he play that position. He is meant to be a CAM. Anyway you people overrate him, if he played for Liverpool or Man City you would be saying how crap he is.

I have to admit that I'm amazed that Utd have signed RvP. I never believed that a transfer fee could be agreed between the two clubs and that Utd would pay that much for a player of his age. I was on of those who said it would never happen so here's me admitting I was wrong.

Also, having watched Carrick for England the other night, I'm less sure of the need for an additional central midfielder. Although it was a friendly, I thought Carrick's distribution was excellent. He played more forwad passes than I ever remember him doing before and it looks like he has much more self belief than in previous times. I don't remember a stray pass from him all game and if the defence had passed the ball to him a bit more like Utd do, I think he could have bossed the game even more than he did.

I'm excited by a potential line up of:

De Gea
Rafeal/Jones, Ferdinand/Evans, Vidic, Evra
Carrick
Valencia, Kagawa, Rooney, nani
RvP

Still think we need a couple of full backs though

Seen next years squad numbers
Now rafael has been given the no.2 shirt I doubt we will sign a full back this season now
Van persie has been given no.20 while berbatov has kept the no.9 shirt interesting...
Only other possibility is that if berbatov does leave welbeck might be given no.9

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Berbatov only keeps the shirt because it would be an incredible slap in the face for him to have his shirt removed while he was still here. It would also lessen his market value as it shows that we really do want to sell as we have no interest in him being here.

RedDevil19

Agree0 Disagree0

Lets be honest after not picking berbs in champions league final team, using him spairingly last season! We couldnt take the number 9 aswell poor blokes been through enough

Believable4 Unbelievable0

17 Aug 2012 16:05:45
Here's something for you boys to think about. Davey Moyes has a year left on his contract after this season and as of yet is not signing an extension even though he is being offered one. Do you think that maybe he sees himself in the managers dugout whilst the boss moves upstairs and still pulls the strings. Would not be my choice but I can see it suiting the Glazers as he works on a very tight schedule and is use to not having money and he would be happy to work under Fergie's leadership. Fergie would be happy as he could still control the press and prevent certain embarrassing stories coming out. I AM KLOOT

Believable5 Unbelievable5

How do you know he would be happy to work under Fergusons shadow? Fergie didn't when Busby was the shadow.
Managers are their own men....and Moyes is no different.
Moyes unlike Ferguson (With Aberdeen, he won in Europe and broke the 'old firm') would be joining without any knowledge of winning titles and no real european experience.......I just can't see Moyes in the managers seat.
I would rather Blanc or 'The Only One'......
Don't honestly think the Glazers are concerned about tight purse strings......having the José Mourinho as manager would only attract money to the club.
PS. Good to see your still as paranoid about the Glazers and anything Manchester United......Christ all this money being spent by the club must be an illusion or something!!!

Agree2 Disagree0

God I hope not theres isn't one thing I like about Moyes' style of football plus theres nothing about him he like his football is boring

Pardoe

Could happen but I think someone who has more experience in Europe and challenging for trophies is required. Since you're here KLOOT what is your opinion on RVP?

Rjmanutd

Jred

Agree0 Disagree0

Interesting theory, there have always been links between Moyes and us. I'm really undecided on who I'd like to see take over but he wouldn't be my first choice

Gav

Agree0 Disagree0

Sure your on the right page Kloot? Conspiracy page is next door.

Personally anything the Glazers do would not surprise me.

Do I think Moyes is good enough to manage United. No.

Agree0 Disagree0

I have a feeling it could be the reason Moyes has not signed a contract, but I also would not want him and doubt he is the choice of the club either.

You still managed to bring the Glazers in and suggest he will be good because we do not have money, but we have spent £50 million in the last 3 months, a lot more than Moyes has spent in the last 5 years. I am not being pro-Glazer, I just don't think United can be compared to Everton on transfer spend!

Good post though.

It hasn't got into my head yet that we have 2 of the best strikers in the world along side each other, still unbelievable!

Imagine all the chance Welbeck had and missed, then put RVP there, I can assure you guys now that if RVP and Rooney stay fit we won't be losing on goal difference for a very long time!

Having Rooney in your team is amazing, then if you add another striker who is as good as him you then have the most immense strike force in the world.

People say Aguero and Tevez are better together, or Benzema and Higuian. But RVP and Rooney? Oh my god.

I don't know what to do right now, I am so happy we got him. No sleep for me tonight again!

Have a nice weekend guys and I hope you guys look forward to Monday as much as me! And maybe, just maybe we will see someone who goes by the name of Witsel joining us too ; )

Banter please Ed's

Im an Arsenal fan and come in peace!

I would like to get some rational opinions from real Man Utd fans not the plastic ones.

Of course I am dissapointed RvP has left and honestly quite sickened he joined you guys after all our rivalry (not so much in recent years as we dropped of a bit)

But I do feel you guys might lose out in the long run, if all reports are to be believed. Initial fee of circa £15-£18m with a potential fee of £24m, add to that his wages of circa £220k pw (£45.76m over 4 years) add to that agent fees and signing on fee you are looking at a total investment of circa £72-£75m.

I might be out without my guesstimations but its going to be a significant investment in a player that is 29 years old and has as we all know suffered with more than his fair share of injuries. Also add to that with the exception of Henry, Fabregas and Cole no player leaving Arsenal has hit the highs they did at Arsenal.

We all know one man doesnt make a team and although last season RvP was on fire, I do feel anyone who plays as a solo striker for Arsenal will score goals (excluding Chamakh as he is just ****) due to the amount of chances we create.

I am wondering where RvP will fit into your team as well and if i was Welbeck of Chicharito i would be questioning where I stand within the Man Utd set up, also if Rooney plays in the hole behind RvP where does that leave Kagawa?

Question is can he play like he did last season this season?

Would like considered and non bias opinions

Andy MK Gooner

Believable4 Unbelievable1

RVP will be our first choice striker. Welbeck and Hernandez are both young, and will have to take their chances when they get them for the time being. I think we are planning on a much more fluid attacking 3 behind the main striker this year so I'm not sure if Rooney will just be in the hole. But it's a squad game and having a bigger pool of attacking players adds to that.

Every major transfer is a risk but Fergie has signed his favourite player in the PL (outside United) and I think that makes it a risk worth taking.

Danny Pughnited

Agree0 Disagree0

RVP would be a welcome addition to most squads apart from possibly City and Real Madrid. Even Barca would be happy to have a player of his calibre in their squad.

He is very flexible in his ability to play as a lone striker , one of a pair of strikers, or just behind the main striker. His touch and vision are excellent as well as his dead ball skills.

He has given nearly every team he plays against a difficult time and wont go missing in big games provided he gets the right service.

He is physically now at his peak and has the strength and nous to avoid the injuries that plagued him earlier.

On a monetary level if United win trophies the income generated from that will take care of his wages etc. Shirt sales alone will generate a significant amount. Financially yes it is a gamble. There is no doubt. But if he is anywhere near as good for the next two seasons as he was in last then money will not be an issue

Agree0 Disagree0

Andy,
RVP will hit the heights, similar to the other players mentioned in your post. He is joining a better team (no offence meant). I believe the team around him now, will supply him with better oppotunities to score.
Yes the top end outlay £24 million is quite steep, however we are led to believe for that to happen, we will have to win ELP and Champions League. They will pay for the transfer fee. As for the wages, no one knows the exact amount...is all guess work.
He is also at a team that rotates players more regularly, this will prevent injuries and make older legs last longer. Man Utd unlike Arsenal tend to not rush back injuried players, so not incurring further injuries.
As for where players fit into the team, that's up to Fergie. Man Utd is a big team with a big squad, the players know there's only 11 places up for grabs.......that's football....as they say.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hello Andy as we know he will be the main striker with Rooney behind personally if he plays like he did last season I personally think he will get more goals at Utd. We missed so many chances last season we sorely needed RVP

Pardoe

Agree0 Disagree0

RVP has always scored goals when he played and his goals to games ratio is very good. Last season was the first time we have seen him stay fully fit and show his true ability. If we keep him fit, there's no reason why he can't repeat the success he had last season.

G.A.G.U.S

Agree0 Disagree0

First off if we win say 2-3 league titles and 1 champions league over his 4 year deal then it was money well spent. The Glazers can pull back most of the outlay in fee's and wages by selling tat sorry merchandise to the plastics.

As for Kagawa, Chica, Welbz they'll all get plenty of games in what could be a 50-60 game season. Injuries will happen, Rooneye will have his usual dry patch etc etc

Agree0 Disagree0

He will play as the spearhead of the attack IMO with Rooney behind him, or at times Kagawa

IF he stays fit I think he will be a huge success due to our style of play and the number of chances we will create. But IF he get's a long term injury he will have been a huge waste of money. That's the risk but it's one I'm happy we have taken TBH

The one thing we can offer him that Arsenal couldn't is plenty of rests through rotation due to our numerous options Rooney, Kagawa, Hernandez, Wellbeck - hopefully this can reduce the risk of him picking up injury

Gav

Agree0 Disagree0

I think it's worth the investment if we win either the premier league or champions league as the prize money / revenue from winning the champs league is in the region of £50 to £70 million and I think he will flog some shirts as the club is buzzing at the moment. RVP is world class, even though I think Kagawa will prove more important than many people think!

well, RVP is number 20. and SAF confirms we're done in the market for the summer.

I'm actually really pleased with this summer, we've got a top young player in Powell who I think will have an impact THIS season, we've signed one of the best play makers in the world in Kagawa as well as signing arguably the greatest forward in the world at this minute.

3 players, 2 IMO world class and 1 potentuially world class.

Bit annoyed about no LB but I don't see anybody other than Baines being really practical, so if Everton want £20 Million then I can deal with Evra for another year.

It's a shame he is as lazy as he is, because it means potential suitors will see it as an extreme downside to him and not move for him.

So we have two AM in a CM role, even average teams would be able to get past them. If you must pick a 1st team, then Carrick should be in it as he protects the defense. In reality I would guess we would play a mixture of 442/433/4231 with players being rotated according to game time, fitness, form and opposition.

Welsh Dragon

Agree0 Disagree0

Midfield is a bit light weight imo
Roonbest

Agree0 Disagree0

Cleverly's and Kagawa's talents would be wasted playing so deep. I think it will be either Cleveley or Kagawa on the pitch at the same time, and the same with Carrick or Scholes. One or the other. Not both.

Ofcourse it is a squad game and we will see many combinations of players if fit. That is the great advantage we have this season!

FredtheRed

Agree1 Disagree0

A midfield 2 of Cleverly and Kagawa would be great in possession but doesn't offer enough defensive cover IMO. Perhaps Carrick will be in there for that reason, or hopefully someone like Witsel to come in. The rest looks mouth-watering TBF! If we do lose one of the 2 CM'ers then Kagawa can either play in Nani's place (coming in off the wing) or in Rooney's position (with 1 up front)

Either way can't wait to see them all play together!

Something I'm really looking forward to looking at this season - our bench!

The last couple of seasons, I've looked at it, and thought, there's very little there to change things if it's going wrong on the pitch.

Now, I look and see the possible attacking options, and defensive, when the various guys are back from injury, and it fills me with real hope that this is going to be a great season.

Hope Monday isn't a huge anti-climax!

StevieK

Believable4 Unbelievable1

I've been thinking the same. To be the best you need options to bring off the bench to IMPROVE the team or CHANGE the way the game is going. As you say, in the last 2 seasons (partly due to injuries tbf) our bench has looked weak, and the players we bring on have generally been to plug a hole or aren't as good as the player going off. It's a squad game after all and I for one am excited at the way our squad is coming together

Gav

Agree1 Disagree0

I agree the strength of a squad is measured by their bench not their starting 11. We could feasibly have lindagard jones scholes rvp/kags young/nani. Thats a serious bench of game changers. Plus there are plenty of other names waiting in the wings to push for starting places should anyone get too comfy

All this talk about formations has got me thinking. We are only going to have the back four, goalkeeper and a holding player like Carrick sticking to their position. We are going to play very fluidly with Rooney, Kagawa and RVP all moving about, Valencia will be the only winger that sticks to his position where as Young, Welbeck and Nani will all roam around too.

The forward players will stick to a more rigid position when we are without the ball. Hopefully either Young or Rooney will help out Evra if he is still first choice as they are the most willing to track back. Kagawa will slot alongside Carrick/Scholes/Cleverly and RVP will hold the line with Valencia/Nani helping out Rafael or Jones. We would be a good compact unit with the speed to break as well as also being able to hold the ball in the opposition area. Can't wait!

Was listening to a podcast and the journalist being interviewed said if you put player next to player in the teams who would come out on top, so I thought i'd have a go:

De Gea < Joe Hart
Vidic = Kompany
Ferdinand = Lescott
Rafael < Richards
Evra < Cliche

Defence------------Man Utd < Man City

Carrick < Yaya
Scholes > Barry (Scholesy still beats barry for me)
Cleverley > Milner
Jones > De Jong

Centre Midfield-----Man Utd = Man City (equal just because Yaya makes up for the other midfielders around him)

Valencia > Nasri
Kagawa < Silva
Nani > Johnson
Robin Van Persie > Ballotelli
Rooney > Aguero
Welbeck < Tevez
Hernandez < Dzeko

Attack-------------Man Utd > Man City

It's pretty close but just one more thing.

Sir Alex Furguson > Roberto Mancini

It's gonna be a fantastic season, hope it goes down to the wire again, can't wait for the Derby!

However two weeks before... Ol' Rodney Marsh was urging RVP to join Citeh as it would be a master stroke as he is the best striker in the premier league.

Van Persie deal completed

Robin van Persie has completed his medical, agreed personal terms and signed for Manchester United on a four-year contract until June 2016.

The 29 year-old Dutch striker joins the club in time for the start of the 2012/13 Premier League season.

Sir Alex Ferguson said: “Robin is a world-class striker with a proven record in England and in European football. His talents need no introduction to our fans – he has scored a number of goals against us in some classic battles with his former club. His movement, finishing and all-round ability are outstanding.”

Robin van Persie said: “It’s an honour to sign for Manchester United. I am looking forward to following in the footsteps of so many great strikers, bringing my experience and playing my part to help the team compete for the biggest trophies in the game. I can’t wait to get started.”

Nani.........Rooney.........Kagawa

This i feel is our current strongest lineup. If this group defends from the front and pressurize teams high up the pitch(rooney and kags are extremely hard working) Ala barca i think we would be pretty solid. Also when attacking clevs can join in to form a fluid, free form style where all the players can easily interchange positions. This front 5 would be devastating and a match for any team on the planet imo.I love Valencia but i feel an inform nani would suit this style if interchanging football better. Valencia along with, wellbeck, chico, anderson, giggs and scholes would make up a devastating bench.

Since everyone seems to be having a go at predicting the team for Monday I thought I would do the same.

I personally doubt RVP will start as the guy has only had about 20 mins of football since the Euro's and he hasn't even trained with hos teammates yet, so for me he will be on the bench and will get the last half hour. Kagawa should start if you ask me as he has been fantastic in preseason and shown he has the quality to keep the ball under pressure and Everton will no doubt try to play a highly energetic game and get in our faces.

The most important thing in this game though isn't how well and where the new signings play it is how we handle Jelavic and Fellaini who caused us plenty of problems at OT last season. Having Vidic back is huge as he is dominant in the air and Rio has also had a full summer to rest and then got a full preseason behind him which again is great, so IMO we have the best CB partnership in the league back and at full fitness which is crucial. Also the fact that Cleverley has had game time at the Olympics means he is coming back at match fitness.

So there are only a couple of decisions the manager has to make, who to start at RB and the formation we play. It is either Valencia or Rafael and I would pick Rafael, people have questioned his ability on this site but I personally believe he is a brilliant player. At times he can be a bit rash but that will get better as he grows up, some forget he is still basically a youngster as he has been around for ages, however, he has plenty of energy and is always willing to get forward and support which is crucial as it can keep Baines back in his half of the field instead of delivering crosses into our box. Another reason to pick Rafael is because Valencia should start on the right of midfield as he is consistently one of our top performers and he will not be suffering the post Euro's hangover which some players do and that could maybe end up applying to our other 2 wingers of Young and Nani even though one of them (probably Young because of his defensive work to cover Evra will start on the left)

Formation is a straight decision between 4-4-2 and 4-2-3-1. When everyone is match fit I guess we will play 4-2-3-1 but I think it will be 4-4-2 on Monday.

What I think the team will be:

De Gea
Rafael Ferdinand Vidic Evra
Valencia Carrick Cleverley Young
Rooney Welbeck

I'd prefer:

De Gea
Rafael Ferdinand Vidic Evra
Cleverley Carrick
Valencia Kagawa Young
Rooney

watching a lot of videos..some youtube some others.. only thing i felt is from our potential targets, if any one can improve our midfield by providing both pace and steel is yaan m'villa. and the next is witsel, though he has bit less dynamism. but still bater than our lots. what i will say is
dembele: good for small teams but not united class.gives me impression of slow LAMPARD.
wanyama: some say a batter version of m'villa... naaaahhh.. if we like to see our last three season play of midfield in younger option, he is good. good metal but nothing more in creativity front which we lack.can say he's hard version of fletcher.
witsel: much needed physiq and creativity and run with the ball attitude.. fearless tackles, nice balance to hold the ball, and quick short pass skill.. can be a good addition along side kagawa, rooney and now RVP. i will say a batter version of cleverly, but i rate claverly high accept tacklings..
M'villa : count all i said for witsel + more quick, deadly passing all short, long and through balls, thunderous shot. and high work value,, leathel while counter attacks which suits our play..
so to say m;villa is best in those but i doubt we have a little interest..i was sure that if pogba leave, we will chase him..but no news there. i say if witsel is 30m euro and m'villa is 20.. he is batter option anyday.. ( i think so called baggage and attitude problem can be sorted when play along-side all star players.. may be right now its called such because he is large fish of a small pond will get ok on bigger front)
they are my observations and views.. yours has to be different so pls dont start rude arguments.. yours are most wel-come.

By the time Van Persie is nearing the end of his united contract we will have Rooney in his twilight, Welbeck and Hernandez in their peek and henriquez as the 'now welbeck'.

I've seen many suggestions for our best formations/best 11. Holding midfield role and whether Tony V starts appear to be the most contentious areas, so just to add fuel to the fire...

1. Phil Jones has to be in our CURRENT starting 11. Personally I see him as the only player capable of going toe-to-toe with Ya Ya Toure and capable of providing a similar style of player for us. Massive, massive potential, already present power and skill level, please give him a good run Sir Alex.

2. Tony V, undoubted star performer over last couple of seasons even despite injury. However, right-back is perfect long term spot for him. Overlapping runs outside Of Nani is the best way to use him. I'm not totally convinced that he is the right person to take a spot in the front four/five.

So:

De Gea

Tony V
Vidic
Rio
Evra (please replace)

Jones (please DO NOT replace)
Cleverly

Nani
Rooney
Kagawa

RVP

The fact that none of us are predicting 442, and are equally puzzled by best 11/formation only provides insight in to how flexible our attacking potential is and the challenge that opposing managers will face.

I haven't felt this excited about the next match since Cantona returned from his ban. SAF yet again you've put a massive smile on my face... thank you!

A 3 man defence would be interesting, but I don't think we'll get to see it for the time being with so many of our defenders injured. Fergie is still including Kagawa with the attackers, so we may see a much for fluid formation depending on the opposition.

Dont let this ex rubbishty person wind you up. Since when was he an expert on football? I would like to know what Jack Rodwell and Scott Sinclair going to do at rubbishty? Nothing. Also, rubbishty were so smug about getting RVP and for a change someone told them to eff off. They can buy the likes of Nasri and Aguerro and Tevez for money but RVP decided to come to us as he wants to play for us.

Iff city would of signed him rodney would of said what a great signing he is, i think rodneys starting to get a bit worried that utd have signed 2 quality players n city have signed jack rodwell

------- De Gea------
valencia-vida-rio-evra
--------cleverley-------
nani-----kagawa-----young
-----rooney--rvp---

cleverley could be switched with carrick and I was thinking when we dont havee the ball kagawa drop next to clevs and rooney drop back into kagawas position. I think cleverley deserves to start as he has been one of our best players in pre season. thoughts?

I'd prefer to see Rafael at RB, Nani out on the left in place of young and Valencia on the right wing. I agree with the rest though.

How about

-------DDG-------
Raf- Vid-Rio- Evra
-------Carrick----
Toni -------- Nani
----Roo-Kag----
------RVP-------

I'd go for that with lots of movement that is if we don'tbuy another player in the meantime

why don't rooney play on the left like he did in 07/08 when ronaldo was striker?.. he doesn't have to be a left winger but more of a left attacking mid, why play wingers if the fullbacks are bombing forward to give the width?

I think we may see that but maybe Kagawa on the left and Rooney behind RVP.

Agree7 Disagree1

Kagawa, Rooney and RVP are free roaming so they could interchange between each other. Bring on Monday, revenge on Toffees.
