What with the Zenit fan's ignorance and frankly disgusting declaration that they don't want black players in their team, would it be a good idea to try a cheeky bid for Axel Witsel? I know we've shown interest in the past. Not the cheapest midfielder we could buy, I'm sure Zenit would want a majority of that fee back for him but I really rate him.

Potential to be a great!

Any chance of a January move for Wesley Snjeder as I have heard from several people he is un-happy at the club due to his Wages , Will fergie go back for him and pair him in CM with Kagawa with Rooney and RVP up top or am I in dreamland

yeah cos if he's unhappy with his megadeal at Inter, that he signed a couple of years back after using our name to get that deal, then he's really going to come to us, especially after he tried to screw us out of a big raise on his current wages last summer. We wouldn't pay anywhere near what he's after. Also he is nowhere near as good as people make out. He's what 28, had about 3 good seasons in the last 6-7 years and only produces in flashes. He's not what we need at all. We need a high energy tackling box to boxer.

Agree8 Disagree3

Sneijder would walk onto most teams in Europe. He's a great midfielder and will be for another 5 years at the least. In 2010 the guy was in Fifa's World XI, alongside Iniesta and Xavi. The fact he could be picked up for a fee considerably less than what he's actually worth is just a bonus! Grabbing Sneijder would not mean we wouldn't buy anyone else...midfield options of Cleverley, Anderson, Carrick, Fletcher, Powell, Kagawa, Sneijder and a more defensively minded player (who i hope we will buy) would be incredible. In the summer, a lot of people said RVP wasn't what we needed...and look how that's worked out. I'm not seeing he'd have the same impact as RVP, but Sneijder would definitely have a massive effect on our team.

Andy!

Agree10 Disagree5

There's more chance of Wesley Snipes.

Fresh!

Agree7 Disagree4

I wud actually prefer Wesley snipes over him

Agree3 Disagree2

And the curse of the Wesley sneijder fan strikes again. If you are going to talk about him at least spell his name right, it really is not that difficult. I do think he would be great with Raphael and welback though!

He missed his chance to play for us in my opinion and just because he was good in 2010 does not mean he will is still great now. He comes across as greedy and not the kind of personality we need. What we do know though is how much fergie wanted to sign him, so if the chance was there to get him on the cheap it may be that he will take up that offer.

GDS

Agree2 Disagree4

He is a quality player and just because we did not get him does not make him poor. Who knows what happened as is with all transfers. If we could get him for a paltry fee, he would be a great addition to the team.

In euro 2012 he was the best player on the pitch for the Holland even though they had a mare.

Shahram

But i just read the rest of your post, and i largely agree with it; but on the other side of the coin, if he was good in 2010 whats to say he won't have another season like that?

I think scholes and Giggs still have a lot to offer for the team but they should come on after 70 mins when teams are tired so theres space for them to play. There passing abilities are better than anyone in the team or anyone in the prem! FREDO

Believable7 Unbelievable23

Even better than Pienaar or Osman?

Sydney!

Agree6 Disagree5

Fredo

Are you sure you are watching Scholes and Giggs of this season not a re run of 5 or 10 years ago on MUTV. They are both gone, 10 mins maximum and not a whole half or half hour.

Tell me which other top club have a 38 or 39 year old getting significant game time? Then tell me which one is playing a 38 and a 39 year old?

Red Man

Agree8 Disagree5

Scholes I would agree could come on for the last 15-20mins alongside a younger player who can do his running for him. His passing ability for me has never been in question it's his legs that are gone. Ryan giggs never has been and never will be one of the best passers in the prem. for me his best attributes were running at players cutting inside and out then either crossing or shooting. Sadly again due to age he is unable to do this which is why I feel he offers nothing to the team and should retire. Scholes should also retire at the end of the season. Both will always be legends to the club.
Nathan

Agree5 Disagree2

Possibly not any more Fredo, and certainly not together as a midfield pair

AJH

Scholes still has the passing ability no question, but giggs hasn't got the control and range of passing that scholes has.

I see that Roma is interested in Nani. Could a swap between the clubs where we got Lamela and they Nani be a possibility? Lamela is a similar type of player but 5 or 6 years younger with a huge potential.

What are the chances for this to happen?

jus been watching sum vids of james rodriguez found sum good ones that show his every touch in a match good n bad, like vs brazil, paraguay ect .. the first thing that strikes me about him is he almost never uses his right foot he also looses possession quite alot either trying to beat every 1 or taking shots when there not on, seems to have questionable decision making skills hes obviously a talented player n know im basing my judment on a few vids but if you compare him to isco who ive seen quite abit off the difference is obvious to see isco has 2 flairfull feet is very mature decision making wise n is very difficult to get the ball off where as rodriguez relys on pace to beat a man 1 on 1 but when given the ball in tighter spaces seems easy to disposses he reminds me of a 1 footed nani who can cross id advise people 2 watch these vids or maybe people who've seen him play on more than a jus a few occasions can share sum insight.
jus type james rodriguez vs to see what im saying.

Must admit I prefer Isco out of the two. Anyone know what the price difference would be? I'd have thought maybe JR would cost more?

DodgyBanter {Ed002's Note - Try the search engine.}

Agree1 Disagree0

If you are watching youtube. Check out Isco, wizard on ball and hardly ever loss the ball.

Agree4 Disagree0

Previous post without the name is mine.

Isco, i think have signed a new contract, would come around 18m where as Porto has history of squeezing every bit of money. So James Rodriguez would be over 25m.

Isco is the player we should get. Beautiful touch, strong body, creative assist and pass, dribbles so well and hardly loss ball. I have already talked about his ability. If not this Jan, I pray he will come this summer. He is already a great with amazing potential. I will eagerly look forward to transfer window.

Red Samurai

Agree3 Disagree0

Sounds like we are not likely to get him reading some of Ed002's previous comments. I agree, he looks a real talent, strong, intelligent, both feet actually work, he'd be great in a team with Rooney, RVP, Cleverly and Kagawa.

DodgyBanter

Agree2 Disagree0

Whats the craze for rodriguez then?u can surely find better players in the quoted 35million range

Agree0 Disagree0

Try Muniain for half that price and don't believe Rodriguez is any better. I have posted before he is very small and goes down very easily and not sure how that will work in the premiere league.

I also think Munian's passing is better that he can play as playmaker if required.

But hey what do i know, SAF thinks giggs and scholes are better and we are set for a few more years with them 2.

Last summer Man United bought these players at approx 65m.

2 ACADEMY PLAYERS
J.Castro Pereira GK
S. Goss CM

2 YOUNG U21's
N. Powell CM/AM
A. Henriquez LW/CF

1 BACK UP SQUAD PLAYER
A. Buttner LB

2 FIRST TEAM ROTATIONAL PLAYERS
S. Kagawa
R. Van Persie

If we follow along the same lines with 65m to spend in the summer who do you think could come in?

This is my selection:

2 ACADEMY
B. Gomez = Deportivo Brazil 2m
J. Tah = Hannover 300k

1 U21's
Adryan Tavares = Flamengo 7m

1 BACK UP FOR YOUNG & VALENCIA & TO REPLACE NANI
T. Ince = Blackpool 5.5m

2 FIRST TEAM IN & OUT ROTATION
L. Bender = B.Leverkusen 25m
R. Lewandowski = B.Dortmund 17m

My reasons:

Bruno Gomez 17yrs old can be signed next year but will have to spend a season with our Belgium or Dutch feeder Club to get his work permit for the UK.

Another young Brazilian we have been following for along time. Plays behind the main forward or is comfortable on each wing. He could be bought & loaned out to another European Club for a season.

Jonathan Tah is highly rated in Germany. With Rio & Vidic not getting any younger it'll be good for M.Keane, Thorpe & Fornasier to be competing with another promising CB talent.

Thomas Ince is a young English talent which Fergie likes to try & bring in ala Powell last summer. Could provide cover for our wingers & replace the departing Nani.

Lars Bender can provide cover in midfield defensively. He's also been known to cover at CB & LB. Could be a very important player next season if purchased.

Lewandowski is a natural born finisher. Okay we already have Rooney, RVP & Chicharito that are at the Club even Henriquez & W. Keane know where the net is. The latter two will probably go on loan next season. Rooney can drop deeper, Welbeck can hopefully improve when he covers Young on the left wing. Why would we not want a potential W/C striker if he is available & wants to come?????

Who would you like to see?
Choose 2 FIRST TEAM PLAYERS 1 BACK UP & 2 U21's

TJ

1st team: Baines & Bender

Back up: Zaha or Ince whichever we go for.

Hi all:
I know it is highly unlikely, but if Javier Hernandez is truly disgruntled with his current positioning at United, would it be possible that LFC would swoop? Feel like he could blossom here. Also, Are LFC monitoring/watching James Rodriguez of FC Porto? He would be brilliant on the right of Suarez. Hoping for some strong work this transfer window. Feel like things are going to go well. Hoping for the best. Thanks EDs

Loads of posters on here saying we still need a cm and left winger but who could we get in to do a better job than Carrick and Young and Cleverly ? they all have been outstanding two weeks on the trott with everyone looking like they have all hit form together this team the way there playing now can match anyone Barca Real or any other team and compete yes we need to make changes in the summer but not as many as a lot of people say on here this team looks like its gelling into somthing speacil long way to go but on these perfomances we can do anything in Fergie we trust Katef

Believable1 Unbelievable14

We have experienced central midfielders and we have plenty of potential. What we need now is the finished articles. We need a defensive midfielder type to sure up the midfield and let Cleverley, Anderson and even Carrick float forward and spread their wings.

Sydney!

Agree16 Disagree0

Two weeks on the trot....no need to buy with consistency like that !

Devil Dust.

Agree14 Disagree1

100 % agree with Sydney. I think Wanyama or Strootman would be wise.

We looked great last week against Sunderland with Carrick and Cleverly and good on the counter against city but personally I would like to have a bit more control in the midfield against better opposition in the CL and PL. it will give us the option of to play all three in 4-3-3 or 4-2-1-3 or 4-1-2-3 formation and lots of options not just in midfield but upfront with many different combinations and more importantly protects us against any longterm injuries to Carrick who I think is the key to our midfield and then Cleverly.

Unfortunately Anderson can not be relied on as he seems more often injured than fit and giggs and scholes are not good enough.

Shahram

Agree5 Disagree0

DD

I Don't agree. What happens if Carrick or Cleverly get a longterm injury. You fancy we can play the likes off RM, Juve, PSG, BR,BM,Barca in CL with what our other options in midfield?

The minute we took them off the pitch against sunderland the game changed.

Shahram

Agree4 Disagree0

I think carrick rooney and rvp will play most games, if we bought a cm for 25mil i would expect him to also play most games.
i think it would seriously restrict the amount of games clevs or ando play, so i think if we buy a cm it will be more of a squad player who rotates with ando etc rather than a big name star

TK-Red

Agree1 Disagree0

The fact that we haven't bought an established cm since the summer of 2008 is farcical. That the two cm players we signed that summer have been ruined by injuries makes the situation even more unbelievable. Since 2007, when we bought Carrick, we have not brought in a single top quality midfielder who can be considered a regular starter. And it's not as if we have promoted youth to fill the gap, with only Cleverly the sole academy player close to our first eleven.

Our midfield is bare bones, and one bad injury to Carrick away from disaster. I can't think of a single example of another top European club who have let their midfield run into such a level of decay. If we take away Scholes and Giggs who should be nowhere near a top level midfield, we are left with Carrick, Cleverly, Fletcher, Anderson and Powell as recognised midfield players. Of this bunch only three can be classed as fully fit (or likely to be able to stay fully fit for that matter). That leaves us with one established midfield player, a player trying to establish himself in the first team, and a youth player with potential. It beggars belief that anyone cannot see the desperate need for a player of genuine quality. Yet, every transfer window we end up chasing, wingers and strikers.

Right Guys....its a week to Christmas and i fancy a bit of banter.

We have had threads concerning the best united goals, players moments etc.
Now for something different.

What is the flukiest/luckiest goal you have seen from United?

The worse goal we have conceded? eg poor play or impact on a season etc.

Who is the Uglyist United player ever?

Any other questions would be great ;)

Giants14

Believable0 Unbelievable3

'Flukiest': Forlan against Liverpool in 2002 thanks to Dudek's mistake?

Worst goal conceded: I don't know. Maybe Ince against United in 99.

Ugliest?: Rooney.

Flukiest = Andy Coles goal against Middlesbrorough, Gary Walsh in net, Cole hit the ball against Walsh and it looped off him about 15ft in the air and the spin of the ball took it in.
Worst = Philip Albert's chip, i know it was a top goal, but Schmeics didn't help being on the edge of his area and it hurt like hell the Barcodes laughing at us.

Ugliest = Beardsmore, no contest!

Ok boys and girls. Christmas is just over a week away. Hard to beleive i know but while you're out there buying for you kids, wife or family, spare a thought for the thousands of kids who will wake up on Christmas morning with nothing to open. We all know times are difficult and people are struggling but some more than others. I could be your next door neighbour or the kid your child sits next to at school. It might be one of us next year. There are plenty of charities willing to take in extra presents like Churches, local radio stations, Salvation Army, the list is endless. So while you are maxing out your credit card stick and extra £10 or £20 on it for someone not so fortunate if you can afford it. While you're handing your present in you will feel 2 inches taller (and we all know we could do with a few extra inches). Trust me, it will make you feel really good about yourself. Thanks for reading.

BBC Commentator on Liverpool's claim for a penalty:

"Oh, that was a strong shout from Liverpool"

and:

"Clearly got hold of his (Agger's) shirt there".

Actually, Agger got straight up, made no remonstration to the referee, neither did the rest of the players, and he ran back to his position with a rueful smile on his face.

Probably because Agger also had a chunk of the defender's shirt at the same bloody time!

Where do these commentators come from?

Never mind Liverpool fans. Add it to the hard-luck list. Just another example of only the big teams getting all the decisions :)
