We should really stop playings Giggs and allow our younger players to come through.

Albeit his still good but he can't last a whole game and has been guilty of giving the ball away alot this season.

Hopefully Pogba will get his chance against Aldershot along with Morrison as i think these 2 players could get in our team(squad) by end of season as they are outstanding for their age and can easily change matches. Morrison can play left/right wing or attacking midfielder or up front and is exceptionally skillfull and in Pogba his quick strong skillfull can tackle can pass and has a very good football brain for his age.

For me Carrick doesn't do alot and we need a proper DM which weve needed for a fair few years.

Fletcher is very good but hasn't found his form yet.

Hopefully Cleverly will be back soon. Shame his not playing on tues night.

Also i think theres a few players at Man Utd who aren't playing that well at the moment who need to step up as they are being shown by our younger players.

I was wondering was having a debate with a fellow Man Utd fan today and we could not decide who would be better to partner Vidic when he returns. Smalling or Jones.
I initially thought Smalling but that is not to say he is better but is more similar to Rio in his playing style so would suit Vidic more.
So who do you think should be played with Vidic. Smalling or Jones

Hi Eds,

Without trying to appear rude or ignorant, please could you explain to me why Liverpool fans, and most of the country, are still so angry about the Hillsborough disaster? At the time when it happened, I was still too young to really understand it and have never fully understood the anger of the public. This is not a disrespectful post Ed, just a genuine attempt to try and understand it a little bit more. Thanks. {Ed002's Note - The underlying issue is that the full story has never been made clear because some papers were withheld. Liverpool fans were "blamed" for a sequence of events that were possibly started by police action in opening some gates. This is not really the forum for trying to provide a full explanation but you should read up on the whole disaster.}

Now lets have a change of subject to more interesting things than speculation over what someone may or may not have said and move on to the interesting subject of who we should sign. Now i'm gonna swerve one in from left field here and surgest a player who hasn't been mentioned on these pages before, now before you rubbish the idea hear me out.

I think the player we should sign for midfield should be Yohann Cabaye. I can almost hear your choking gasps and see your quizical looks. But if you let me explain, since january newcastle have lost their four best players(Carroll, Enrique, Barton and Nolan) and yet having lost their four best players they find themselves in forth place(i know its early doors, and i don't expect them to stay there). Now if you look at their team they have a promising young goalie an at best average defence inconsisstant wingers and hardly great strikers so their strength lies in the centre of midfield, now alot of people will point to Tiote and rightly so as he was very good last year but he was their last year with arguably a better team around him yet newcastle didn't play as well as they are currently so whats changed? well Cabaye has stepped in and done the job of 3 men while hardly being noticed.
Take the spurs game for example he had the 3rd best sucessful pass rate with only Tiote and Parker completing more passes and he completed the second most tackles behind Walker and Livermore who were joint top. Yet hardly anyone noticed the vital role he played.
Also as a more defensive midfielder he has 2 assists in 8 games so far and bear in mind he's trying to assist Obertan Best Ameobi Lovenkrans and Gutierrez imagin how many assists he'd have if he was laying them on for Young Nani Rooney Hernandez and Welbeck, i'd expect at least double that figure which would put him at an assist ratio of 1:2 which is great for a midfielder who's first job is breaking up play. He has won the French league and played Champions league football before so has the experiance, is 25(will be 26 in jan) so won't be getting in the way of the young players coming through who really won't be ready for a garrentee'd starting place for 2, 3 or 4 years at least(although they will be getting games over the next couple of years) at which time he'll be ready to step aside and still add experiance when needed. Also he'd be reasonably cheap compared to other similar players(maybe even a swap deal with Carrick could be done).

So he's a strong clever player who is a great reader of the game, he is a good tackler with an eye for a pass, he is composed and has experiance at the highest level. And would be a great midfield partner for either Cleverley or Anderson.

Let me know what you think or whether you to have noticed the great performances he is putting in for newcastle so far this season.

Just heard the news that Evra is to persue his racial abuse case against Suarez. Make no bones about it ,this is very serious stuff and will have serious repercussions throughout the game and should the case be proved against Suarez, it would not be beyond the realms of possibility if all black players in the premier league refused to share the pitch with him.

This suarez - Evra thing is starting to get stupid. Either suarez made racial remarks or Evra lied or there was some mis-understanding but its hard to prove either way.

Unless something new comes up in the enquiry I feel it will be best for both players to move on and pretend it never happend -McMenemy

Lets get back to football, I think Valencia, Nani, Rooney & Hernandez will all start. But it is always hard to second guess SAF.

__________Lindegaard

Fabio____Small____Vidic____Evans

_______Carrick____Anders

Toni_________Rooney_________Nani

___________Hernandez

I think Lindegaard, Rooney, Nani, Vidic, Fabio, Hernandez, Valencia, Carrick & Anderson will all start as they never played more than 20 minutes on Saturday. Whereas Vidic, Smalling & Evans need games after returning from injury. Then they will have five full sleeps to get ready for our biggest game of the season.

An interview i read earlier by paul parker former manchester utd player and fellow black sportsman, makes some very valid points.

Like most people, I was quite shocked to hear about Patrice Evra accusing Luis Suarez of racial abuse towards him during Liverpool's draw with Manchester United at the weekend.
I find it hard to believe in this age of players from all over the world playing in the Premier League that one professional would racially abuse another.

Few people, if anyone, outside of those two know what really went on, and judging by the lack of video evidence or any verification from the referee perhaps we most likely never will. No doubt there will be a cycle of claim and counter-claim from both camps before this matter concludes one way or another.

Regardless of whether anything did happen, however, I am a bit disappointed with the way Evra handled the situation.

Making his comments to a foreign-based media outlet was an ill-advised move. The perception back in England of a Premier League player complaining to journalists from their homeland is rarely positive. Evra is a senior professional who captained United on Saturday, and as such could have addressed the issue head-on by speaking to the assembled media at Anfield right after the game.

Or even better, he could have not have said anything to the press at all. He could have spoken to the referee, officials at his own club or at Liverpool or representatives of the FA, the Premier League or the PFA, all without causing as much of a public fuss. I don't think many people are fooled by him making such explosive claims to the French equivalent of Sky and then saying that he "won't make a huge deal out of it".

Even back when I was playing, it was quite rare for players to say such things on the pitch. There will probably always be the odd person who shouts something from the crowd - even at Premier League level - but for a fellow professional to make a racist remark was an uncommon occurrence.

On one occasion when something like that happened to me, I did not let it bother me. Afterwards I approached one of the black players from the opposition, told him what one of his team-mates had said to me and left it at that.

Perhaps going through the official channels was not quite as easy as it is now, but I was happy to make my point in a quiet, dignified manner and move on. I don't even know how the matter panned out in that team's camp.

I did not let someone saying anything racist affect me, either in my professional or personal life. Did I think they were bigoted? No. Did I think they were ignorant? Yes. By the time I was playing, there were plenty of black players in the top division of the game, at every club, so for a professional footballer to be a genuine racist would have made them at best stupid and at worst a massive hypocrite for working with people they supposedly despised.

It would have been nice if Evra had done something similar in this instance. He could have approached Kenny Dalglish, informed him of what he believed went on and left it to the Liverpool manager to deal with internally.

Evra could even have still gone about initiating the FA investigation that we have now, but without breaking his media silence. Now his behaviour immediately after the incident will be scrutinised.

He will be asked why he claimed the referee knew what was going on when he did not and why he did not make a complaint through the proper route.

I am so p1ssed off we never got the three points against Basle. If we had six, even four points we would have taken Pogba and Zeki, perhaps even Morrison, but because we are on two points this is a must win game and we will use a good squad. So Disappointing. Well at least there is Aldershot.

just been talking to a mate whos a wba fan , he was telling me about the famous 5-3 match at old trafford , when utd fans were making monkey noises and throwing things on to the pitch , nice to see times have changed , and maybe the rainfishman will try to defend this by a manchester crowd , before he mouths off about racist citys etc he should wise up a bit , the commentator on the match said it was a absolute discrace , cyril regis said thats why they played so well to answer the crowd, there is no place in any walk of life for racist stuff , by anyone , and lets move on and get on with the things that matter like football , because all us fans do not know what was or was not said between evra and suarez...........lfc

Anyone in South Africa catch the advert for the united city game on Supersport? Funny as hell. Starts with a lonely FA Cup trophy with city's name under it, then a light next to it comes showing a plethora of cups with a united label and a narator says who are the real kings of manchester:) tried to find a link but cant find it anywhere. will try in a couple days:)

IMO Fergie has done a great job in recent times bringing through young prospects but I think he now needs to seriously invest in CM. He claims we have the likes of Paul Pogba, Tom Cleverly, Ravel Morrison etc and we still have seen little of them. I would hate to get to Jan and these players to still have seen little action and the club to claim we have youngsters coming through, investment not needed!

"I am upset by the accusations of racism. I can only say that I have always respected everybody. We are all the same.

"I go on to the field with the illusion of a little child who enjoys what he does, not to create conflicts."

To the Liverpool fans who have the temerity to defend Suarez and call Evra a liar. Above are the words of Suarez who, if you read them, does not categorically deny it. Now these sort of allegations are notoriously difficult to prove unless someone else heard it therefore I doubt Suarez will be found guilty. That does not mean Evra is lying as some of these quite incredible Liverpool fans keep saying and he most certainly should not be banned. If you actually watch the situation something was certainly said between them to make Evra react the way he did, whether it was racist will have to be proven.

What galls me is that Liverpool fans come on here proclaiming Evra as a liar. Take a look at Suarez words at the top of this again. He always respects everyone. Is that like the Ghana football team who he cheated out of the world cup? Or perhaps the player who he bit, yes bit on the shoulder?
I suggest Liverpool have a better history than that and that this is actually desperation to retain their best player. However they should open their eyes to the nature of this man who "respects everyone" and stop criticising Evra.

Suarez may well get away with it , if indeed he said it however coming on here claiming Evra is this and that is actually rather pathetic. He has made a claim that needs to be investigated and if proven severe action taken.

What is it that Evra was supposed to have done yesterday that has a few folk claiming he is back to his best?

Yeah he played ok but nothing special by anyones standards.

The fact a CB in Smalling shone out as he played against an actual winger in Downing where as Evra had Kuyt to deal with only prooved the fact he is not all that great going forward either as Smalling was as much forward as Evra was.

He got stuck in alot more than recent games but as I said i'm sure that was down to his opponant more than anything else.

Next week against an actual winger will give us a good look into whether he has turned the corner or not. I think a few may be jumping the gun here a little and will only get on his case more if he does fook up against City (god forbid). We gave him a year to show he could get back to his best and he failed so it will take more than 1 'ok' game for me to change my opinion of him.
