Forget the links with 10 new players and the change in formation. In my opinion we need 3 players to add to the squad and compete in the league and Europe. I'm not sure why people feel the need to rip the team apart! To add to the squad we need a midfielder, striker plus a right back. If the boss feels we are covered at right back then we should go for two midfielders plus a striker. Kagawa appears to be nailed on. Hazard would be perfect if the board can woo him. The striking department is slightly more difficult. I would like to see a Ruud Van Nistelrooy type player, who offers the complete package. Overall I expect us to spend around £70m, which would be perfect in winning the league and a definate semi final spot in Europe! Kagawa, Hazard and Torres (the lad is crying out for a new club)!

I find myself stunned the Glazers are taking 240,000 a day out of the club to pay their debts not Manchester United's debt and we still have people on this site defending them and saying better the devil you know. For the past ten years whilst we have been pricing out kids from Old Trafford City have been doing everything to hoover up the youth of Manchester. The average age of season ticket holders at OT is now in the mid forties which has to be wrong on all counts. What the guy who bought City has got right is the amount of his own money he is investing in the community which is there for everyone to see. So not only has he given them world class players he has also won their hearts. We have been cursed with owners who just see us as customers to fill their bank accounts and nothing more. I AM KLOOT

I think If we get a decent young LB/RB, a CB ( I would love too see Hummels or even Subotic! ) Two midfielders ( Kagawa + A box2box player who would be the juggernaught of the team ) and even maybe a winger ( Gaitan ) and a few youngsters. And I believe United would be unstopable next season, Kagawa looks like a done deal and he can play as the new CF and Rooney plays as the striker for once, with Gaitain/Young/Valencia/Nani delivering and the strong midfield, I actually could see us reaching The champions league final, EPL and FA cup final wiht a side like this! I just hope SAF brings in good talent and maybe a huge signing but either way I will not question him because he knows what we need. United till I die

One of the differences between us and Bayern - a good captain.
Lahm was brilliant.
He wouldn't leave his team-mates in trouble by not tracking back.
He fought for every ball.
He was brilliant when attacking.
He drove on his team-mates, especially after losing the goal.
We are missing so much with Evra, and the fact we have no stand-out leader. Bayern could have Lahm, Schweinsteiger, even Kroos(who was magnificient)
I'm gutted that they lost and that t**t Drogba scored the last goal.

Very well done Chelsea they should have been knocked out by Napoli, Barca and you should have got hammered tonight but the luck was on your side and by the end of the game it was inevitable. Can't believe I actually wanted them to win by the end. Have to say though John Terry deserves to be no where near lifting the trophy. He might be their club captain but after what he did against Barca and how the other players performed tonight he shouldn't be lifting it.

Robban's been a t**t all night, even before he missed the penalty he's been greedy and wasteful all night. The number of times he's cut in off the right flank onto his supposed stronger foot and had a shot thats ended up in row z is shocking for a supposed world class player.

What i think is that we have no chance of getting javi martinez. Hence our marquee signing i see as hazard. i genuinely think he'll come but i think fergie knows we need a strong defensive midfielder aswell to hold the back 4 so he'll look to a cheap alternative.

3 alternatives to martinez could be

De rossi, lassana diarra or felipe melo

id pick essien but hes too injury prone n chelsea would only sell to us for a high fee which fergie wont risk.

the bayern way is the way to go. Several good players from the youth team like lahm, badstuber, kroos, muller and schweinsteiger. Add to that they buy the best from the national team like neur, boateng and gomez. Then they make good foreign buys not necessarily superstars like robben and ribery. Think thats the way fergie is going. Youth prospects and the best england players and a couple of good overseas signings to round it off. {Ed004's Note - The English team isnt half as good as the German team}

I despair with the people that use this site, I really do. We get linked with certain reasonably priced players (of which there is no real evidence of us even being interested) and we are taking the ''cheap options'' (which by the way is ludicrous as the fee paid has zero effect on a players performance or his impact on the team- I could name numerous examples), we assume we have lost out on the top players before a bid has been placed by any side, we use phrases such as ''looks like another disappointing summer'' a mere few days into the window when last summer was actually pretty decent in terms of the signings we made... phrases like 'marquee signing' get thrown about, when I personally do not know what that means or of what relevance that has to anything. And a player like Kagawa (who is top quality by the way) looks like he is potentially going to sign and now he too is another cheap mediocre player just because we haven't splashed the cash!? I'm going to go and take a few deep breaths.

Fergie said he's not going to buy players that will just fill up the 25 man Squad.

We pulled out of an offer for Diame for health reasons (apparently) and also its rumoured we've bid €10m for Asamoah and Udinese have said, "bid more". Add Clyne to that equation and that must be the 2 or 3 thats been spoken about.

Why are we in for these players? They seem like the type Liverpool buy or other mid table teams. Not world beaters, or much to get excited about. Fans don't even seem that impressed with a move for Nico Gaitan.

Do you think we'll regain the title with this lot?

I know Eriksen & Goetz don't wanna come (Spain)and Hazard is teasing us (City bound) but at the end of the day these are what we should be going all out to get.

If we are buying young talent again like Phil Jones.
We really need to get our hands on Barkley before anyone else. Oxlade-Chamberlaine went to Arsenal last season and is in the Euros squad. Barkley would improve at a bigger, the biggest club in Europe.

I'm also worried about Pogba. He's gonna leave I'm sure. When he fills out he's gonna be some power house in midfield. Our very on Yaya that just slipped through our fingers.

Now we are beginning to get back to our normal selves and senses of knowing who our club is and what SAF goes for in the market .....,dnt compete with City on the transfer market first and learn not to allow Gill's words to lead you and so expect to ahve impossible signings like 3-4 £30m+ rated players .....NOO brothers we only go for players rated at £0m - £30m only not over that.....,so enough with these Hazard rumours,he is off to city...,lets talk of less than £30m players like Fellaini,Dembele,Lewandowski,Baines,Gaitan,Kagawa,Michu,Dzagoev,Kovacic,McCarthywho arent bad players a t all and would discharge City and their money down........Edds am i wrong that SAF doesnt go for expensive players..?? {Ed004's Note - Yes. I feel you are wrong. We have bid more than 30 million for players like Villa, Benzema etc.. We have purchased players like Berbatov for that price. We have also spent over 50+ twice now in 4 or 5 years I think it is...}

I may be completely wrong in saying this, but don't the top utd players ( Rooney etc ) get absolutely loads in sponsors from Nike, because of the large fan base that buy stuff they see united players wearing. I think Rooney earns about 20m+ each year and about 12m is his salary from utd. A load of guys on here say that players are in it for the money so surely this could have an effect if players do only care about money. {Ed002's Note - Some players earn a lot from sponsorship with the likes of Nike, yes.}

we need a complete revamp of our squad to completely dominate at home and abroad, in defence we need a centre back, a young(ish) left back and 2 right backs. we should get, subotic CB, cissokho LB i think he would be better than baines as he has experience of playing in the chamions league aswell as he is the cheaper option. and debuechy and clyne RB
In midfield we need a CDM, CAM and a winger. CDM strootman/martinez as both can cover different positions if needed, obviosly kagawa for the CAM role and hazard or gaitan for the winger, preferibly hazard but both can play central aswell. For the striker, i would love llorente as he is a big target man whos good with head and feet, but lewandovski would be a good option aswell. so hopefull team for next year

de gea
debuechy subotic vidic evra/cissokho
martinez/strootman
valencia kagawa hazard
rooney llorente

we would dominate, england and europe with this team!

If we are bidding for asamoah who is a left sided midfielder at lesst thats where he plays for udinese then i really dont believe we are even in the hunt for hazard,im beginning to be genuingly worried,if city do sign hazard and we only sign asamoah or some other cheap alternative then the gap will grow, they have a much bettrr midfield now than us,if they add better quality than us from now then the gap gets wider, all this we cant compete with 30 mill signings is nonsense,we were paying that nearly ten years ago, with the players who are going we should easily b able to afford a couple of big earners also;or do we just settle for mediocre value players, kagawa is a very good player not really a midfielder he plays more like a rooney position but as i say our midfield is way behind theirs already,i just hope i am worrying about nothing.

Afternoon lads,

First off, shocking that both Carrick and Smalling have been overlooked for England.
Now, I think this is Evra's last season. Fergie is sending Fabio on loan, with hope that regular football will help him realise his potential. Always rated him over his brother to be honest.
Now, the question that matter's about the team.....where do we play Rooney? Where he play's will massively affect our transfer targets. If we play him up top (and i beleive its going to be 4-2-3-1 next season) we need that attacking midfielder to play behind. If he's the attacking midfielder, we need a strong, skillfull attacker. Llorente is the man for that I beleive. He give's defenders nightmares. Hernandez to come on and then hit them with pace and different movement.
I think we will sign one central midfielder. I dont think it will be a big money buy. With Carrick,Scholes,Anderson ( who I hope can stay fit) Cleverley and possibly Fletcher, I cant see us spending big. Plus we have a few youth lads knocking at the door. 10 mill for Fellani would suit me fine.
End of the day, 89 points is an amazing total, with our weakest team in the last 20 years. No captain, best striker playing in midfield and our 2 best midfielders at the start of the season being hit with injuries. Mancini will be very aware of this. Two correct signings to add depth and class are all we need. Oh, and massive respect to Berba for the way he has conducted himself this season. Could have bitched but he sat quietly. Obviuosly he stated he wanted more game time but you cant knock him for that. Looking forward to next season already.

Still reading all the " gossip " on here and all makes interesting reading. However the one signing that United should be focusing on is Fergies replacement , it will the most important one that has been made in the last 10 years. Letting a 70 year old, spend this 100 million for the future should not be an option. In the least we need a 5 year plan which Fergie should just be mentoring his replacement whilst they take the reins.

However to attract the right man we need to have a sound financial base and that is the moment a bigger concern. Over the last 3 years we have seen a serious erosion in United financial status - less trophies, season tickets easier to come by, hospitality sales down, money being sucked out of the club and that tells it own story. We are having to rely more on age and on players who had previously been sent out on loan, only to then be deemed good enough to return when they aren,t.

Sorry but I am worried. I have listened for over a year about a influx of cash coming in from this stock Market flotation but after recent events, me thinks that the Glazers will take most of that.

Really an important time in our history and there are some important decisions to be made which will define where we are to stand in both British, European and World football for this next 5 to 10 years.

it has probably already been mentioned on here, but i seriously think we will be playing more of a 4-3-3 / 4-2-3-1 system next season, targeting the signings of kagawa and gaitan/ hazard would seem to support this

however, i do not see us signing someone in the mould of a martinez/ strootman this year, as we will have giggs and scholes for another year, i fear it may be put off yet again (unwisely in my oppinion). yes i do realize they are not the same type of player, but the simple fact that we have bodies for those positions may prevent further acquirement's for that area, and may put off pogba signing a new deal.

also with the increasing prospect of us signing clyne, i can see jones being used as a dcm more than a right back with maybe a versatile defender such as benetia (sp) perhaps being brought in along with a young lb (i suspect willems)

as such i predict our team to look like

-----------(gk)de gea/lindegaard---------
(rb)rafael/clyne--(cb) smalling/rio--(cb)vidic/evans--(lb)evra/willems
--(dcm/cm)carrick/pogba/giggs--(dcm/cm)jone/scholes/fletcher--
(rw)valencia/young--(acm)kagawa/cleverly/anderson--(lw)hazard or Gaitan/park
--------(fwd)rooney/welbeck/hernandez---------

this system would be fluid, quick and if we were struggling we could easily revert back, taking off a midfielder and bringing on a 2nd striker

Okay lads, We've got 3 HUGE games of football on today...what are our Predictions?

Hearts VS Hibs: I want Hibs to win but unfortunately I think we're looking at a 2-1 hearts win.

West Ham VS Blackpool: A lot of people are hoping for a Blackpool upset but I can't see it, I genuinely think it'll be a goal fest and I'm going to say 4-2 West Ham.

Bayern VS Chelsea: I want to back Chelsea I really do, but I literally can't call this. I think a lot depends on who plays for each side though. Whoever wins I think it'll be won in Extra time.

To be quite honest dont thnk theres a chance that we gona get hazard, the simple fact is that europes best players have for some reason never really seen united as their ideal 'dream' team , wether it was for money or any other reason, i mean if the kid hazard wants to come here great but he just be gone in a few years, anyway i think we should go for jovetic hes young, apparently he is available and we wouldnt break the bank, along with kagawa and hazard/gaitan those would be three great signings also think that another hazard we should sign is thorgan, edens younger bro, he seems to have similiar talent to that of his bro (eden himself said he thinks thorgan is better), buy him now while he is young and cheap who knows if eden knows we going after his bro he jst sign with us

Good morning lads and ladies,

Been reading the site regularly all week, and even posted the odd comment here and there and there is a few things i've noticed, firstly the traffic on the site is way down, now thats just my opinion, I my be wrong but also i've noticed we are talking bout citeh more and mre and more and more. Now before any smart ass goes and looks up my previous posts/comments, I am guilty of talking bout citeh too, but I've seen the error in my ways. We need to forget about em, seriously in ten years it'll be all over for them the black gold will be gone and utd will still be here as strong as ever, as successful as ever as red as ever. We are utd, we wont be denied. Why this positive outlook you may ask, well because of us, the fans, we fill a 75,000 seater stadium every week no matter who we play, were always gonna be there.
So please lets forget about em, focus on ourselves and ourselves only. How bout we make a pact not to mention that other lot from now for a week and see how it goes? Maybe get some more of those Utd fans that ain't been posting back again?

We wont be denied

every year we seem to be linked with some winger whos the flavour of the month, we had this last year when people were saying we should sign sanchez for ridiculous sums even though we'd jus bought young, i mean how many wingers do u need also im hearing 45m mate we could completely sort out the midfield with that.

and as far as wingers go i prefer muniain who gotta be a bit cheaper an 2 me looks like he will end up a cm/am iniesta esc.

Rumours i have heard is United are negotiating a double deal with Crystal Palace for Nathan Clyne & Wilfred Zaha. Both will come & both relatively cheap
8-10m for both? I think Kagawa deal is done at 12m.

Del Piero on a Free (Personal Opinion)

Berbatov, Macheda, Park, Nani & Anderson are being touted around Europe & will all go to the highest bidders as funds will be raised to go towards 2 or 3 other big signings. Also Fabio to Benfica on loan with a view to a permanent deal next season. The 2/3 Big Ones could be any of.......
Hazard, Pastore, Modric, Van Persie, Tiote, Cavani. Personally would prefer Lavezzi.
