Hi eds and syd and all other contributors.

I was just wondering whether anyone actually has any concrete evidence about any potential signings?!

I think we probably need 4-5 players to even have a chance of winning the ucl next year - 2 cms, 1 fb, 1 fwd and maybe another player.

Btw good luck to both muamba and petrov. Hope they enjoy a full and speedy recovery.

I think there is either alot of snobbery ignorance or jealous people using this site. Everyone goes on about signing marquee type players yet how many people look properly at players? Evra was one of if not the best left back in the world for three seasons and he cost us 4m, Vidic has been the best centre back in the world for the last 5 years and he cost 7m, Park has been a great big game player for us and he cost 4m and Hernandez scored 20 goals in his debut season and he cost 7m. You don't need to spend huge amounts to sign quality players or to sign the players best suited to your team. You also don't need to sign the big name players like Veron or Berbatov as it's not garrenteed that they'll fit in or suit your teams style. You can sign players for as little as 12m and turn them into the world player of the year. Don't just blindly follow what the press and commentators say, just because they have a boner for a player that doesn't make them the best thing since sliced bread. About five months ago I surgested Kevin Strootman to which very few people seemed interested in us signing him, then today the mirror says we're trying to sign him and everyone is putting him in there teams for next year and he's a great player. There seems to be a.train of thought on here that only players like Martinez Modric Muniain Benzema RVP Alba Cissokho Hazard and Eriksen are good enough, big name players with big fees. I'm not saying that they wouldn't be successes but there are other players who could do just as well with us but they don't get the kudos from the press or pundits so no ones seems interested in signing them. Players like Strootman, Yacob, N'dinga, Asamoah, Dembele, Tadic, Sigurdsson, Piris, Jose Angel, Rakitskiy, Yarmolenko and Luuk De Jong all very good players who could come in and do a great job for us, but people on here don't seem interested in giving them a chance as they aren't big name players. Remember some of the best players we've signed haven't been the big name players, players like Evra Vidic and Ronaldo.

I think Modric is number one target for one midfield position this summer with Alcantara number 2 target for the same position, could be vice-vera though. And then someone else more defensive or deeper like M'vila, Martinez, Strootman? etc.
Two coming in for cm

We have a great chance in the next two games to be eight points clear by the time City next play and that would be at Arsenal who now have Spurs breathing down their necks. However we never do it the easy way, we always do it the hard way, drop unexpected points and need a wake up call to push us forward. It means I fear a draw tomorrow, but this season I dont believe we can afford a draw tomorrow. If we were eight points clear with City facing Arsenal, that is a mountain for them. There is another reason, Mancini says he expects us to draw tomorrow, if we do then his players may think he is right and they have a chance after all. If we win then they know we have the advantage, it would likely play on their minds and it would mean 5 points would seem more than that.

That is why it is key to win tomorrow, we all know it and SAF has to get the tactics and team right. We must not go into the game with two upfront and both Scholes and Giggs in midfield. We must have tempo from the start.

Over confidence is something else to avoid, one injury to Rooney and it is hard to see where are our goals would come from and that would really open it up.

In the next couple of years i think we are looking at a strike force of Rooney, Hernandez, Welbeck and Keane. But what young striker would you like to see come in and compliment what we already have?

I think i'd like Victor Fischer but also like the look of Henriquez, Torres and Pozuelo in particular.

Which young striker do you see joining us?

Had a watch of Dodo and Dede, i think they'd be great defensive reinforcements for us. I'd love future left back options of Fabio, Dodo or Fryers with Dede an option in the middle when Ferdinand retires.

Anyway...back to our own fine club

We have a potentially tricky fixture tomorrow night away against a Blackburn team who have rediscovered some form recently, are battling against relegation and have the confidence of knowing they already beat us at OT

I think it's vital we play with a high tempo from the start tomorrow and retain possession for long periods, unlike last Monday. Please, please SAF dont play Giggs in CM! Scholes should be sufficiently rested now to start, if not, then play Cleverly...alongside Carrick of course

My preferred lineup would be similar to the Fulham game but with Hernandez in for Wellbeck as theres a good chance he'll net a goal or two if we create the chances. We NEED 3 points here to heap the pressure on Sh!tty when they go to the Emirates. Also Sholes in for Giggs (obviously). The only other change I could see is Jones or Smalling in for Rafael, but I think SAF is giving him a run of games so I'll stick with him for my prediction

So my team:

--------------DDG-----------
Rafael----Evans---Rio----Evra
--------Carrick---Scholes----
Valencia-----Rooney-----Young
------------Hernandez--------

I think united shouldbuy the following

1 Eden Hazard
2 Klass jan hunterlaar
3 Jefferson Farfan
4 Nathan Clyne
5 Christian Erikksen With them in our squad next season we will be beatable.

Kylem1300 {Ed004's Note - Hunterlaar has never done well at a big club and we have better options that Farfan already}

Ways in which Liverpool have kept me amused today....

1)Andy Carroll’s heroic dive when he was clean through on goal
2)Andy Carroll storming down the tunnel when subbed to Kenny’s look of disbelief
3)Kenny running on the pitch – I think he wanted to go between the sticks himself, lol
4)Stevie G telling the ’King’ to feck off when he ran on – Kenny’s response was to head off with his tail between his legs
5)Pepe’s moment of madness....that was a world class head butt that’s for sure!
6)The final score
7)The scouser’s on their page racing to get on Ebay to sell their pre-booked Liverpool tickets for upcoming games!

Anyone would think it’s April Fools Day or something : )

Surely King Kenny will get the manager of the year award. We could never have imagined what a brilliant job he has done. Good to see he has passed the old Liverpool ways onto Andy Carroll. Will his liverpool mates be absent from MOTD2 tonight as usual so that they don't have to slag off Kenny or his players. As for us we send you or eternal gratitude Ken. Fergie knocked Liverpool right off their perch and Kenny has made them drop lower and lower. I AM KLOOT

Do you think that it would be out of the question for us to sign both Modric and Strootman? Would that leave us over packed in the middle?

Believable0 Unbelievable2

01 Apr 2012 17:43:06
I think that ideally we would all like Hazard, Martinez, Alba and maybe Higuain. Instead though i can see us signing:

Kevin Strootman: £15 million
Nico Gaitan: £20 million
Nathan Clyne: Nominal
Mateo Kovacic: Nominal
Aly Cissokho: £8 million
Alan Pulido: £3.5 milliom

That would leave an outlay of around £50 million which seems very realistic. The usual names will go out so i'm not going to say those.

If you look at our transfer policy, fergie has always placed trust in youth with lots of potential and given them time time to realise it.but identifying youth with real potential is an all together different game and Fegie and his scouts have mastered that art.
Compare this approach to that of
mourinho's. Mourinho mixes a bit of both..that is ,buying talented young players along with the established ones..that is what he is done at madrid.
Now coming to the point, if you see liverpool's transfer activity under past managers(starting from benitez), they always bought established players...torres,alonso,aquilani,pepe reina,kewell....but with the arrival of kenny, they seem to have changed that.dalglish went for charlie adam, downing, carrol,Henderson,Coates.and well the the byproduct of this horrendous tranfer activity is there for everyone to see.(100 mil wasted).
This only goes to indicate the task that lies ahead of us in replacing fergie.the guy is a genius and it would require someone special with similar approach and talent to replace him.

Granada left-back Guilherme Siqueira has emerged as a possible summer transfer target for Manchester United.
The 25-year-old has impressed during his first season in Spain's top flight and has been linked with Atletico Madrid and Valencia in recent weeks.

United have been alerted to the Brazilian's performances and Sir Alex Ferguson's brother, Martin, was spotted in the stands for Granada's home game against Sevilla on monday
United have also been credited with an interest in Lille right-back Mathieu Debuchy.

The Red Devils are known to be considering bringing in new full-backs in the summer, as Rafael and Fabio da Silva have not developed as quickly as had been hoped.

Terrible news that will be released tomorrow. Old Trafford has been sold and from next season United will ground share with City at the Etihad. The Glazers have attempted to keep this as quiet as possible for fear of backlash but news will escape tomorrow. They see this as a way of generating a massive cash income and a reduction of costs. I believe that we will move for someone with Premiership experience and or a few younger south american/portuguese players. The likes of Hazard, Martinez will go elsewhere and we will sign blossoming younger players. I don't think Berbatov will be replaced and Owen/Macheda/Keene will take his place. If anyone is signed I feel we may go for Ba after he impressed against us.

I think a move for Cabaye and not Tiote may materialise as he has a better passing range and more of an eye for a goal.
