Anyone think we should go for cavani ? He and Rooney would be class together

Believable4 Unbelievable1

Would cost £30+ million, and im not sure we are willing to spend that much on a striker.... I would like to see him here though!

UNITED_LEGENDS

Chelsea or city will outbid us for him anyway as they've both followed him this season.

So, I was just watching a few FA youth cup highlight videos. Ravel Morrison was such a huge prospect, shame he went of the tracks. But anyway, out of the current lot (Daehli, Januzaj, Pereirra, Blackett, Barmby, etc), who do we all think will make it and who is the most talented? From what I've seen it's Daehli, but I haven't seen Januzaj play at all, not even youtube clips. From what I hear he's insanely talented. Is he as talented as everyone makes out? Could he be comparable to Eden Hazard (at a similar age) in terms of skill, etc?

Blackett, I've been hugely impressed with, big, strong, fast and noone gets past him. I have high hopes for this lot.

Percy

Januzaj was good at the beginning of the season, but I think it was around december time when he got injured, ruling him out for the remainder of the season.

I think a full season for him next will give us a better idea of his potential.

As for blackett, daehli, barmby and pereira, they all have bags of potential, especially blackett, I really like him. Pereira only joined recently so he will need to settle in.

Looking forward to see how this new crop of players develop over the next few years.

Connor.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

Joe Rothwell will prove to be the best of this group ,with Ben Pearson not far behind.

I can see some post about Joe Allen and I think he would be a quality player for us. Maybe due to the price tag and the club that he plays for is the reason some people fail to see the quality he has got.
And Dembele is a very good player with exceptional ball control. I would be very happy if Man Utd sign Allen and Dembele...

Believable3 Unbelievable3

Both very good players, would love to see them here.

I heard somewhere (TV Radio) that Rogers has a clause he can't buy Swansea players for 12 months so the scousers won't be going for Allen

If we are to get into the style of play of 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3 we need players who can churn out 7-8 out of ten performances in almost every game. I totally agree Nani can change a game in an instance but his other 89 mins can be mistake ridden and below par. Notice I said can be.

We need consistency to use that system like the Barca and Real teams. We can ill afford inconsistency to the level Nani's can be.

It could on the other hand be the making of him. It may allow him to concentrate on playing as a forward 4 rather than a forward 1. If that is the case great for us but I feel his inconsistency's may bite us in the @ss and not allow us to get the full potential out of our team adopting that new style.

I suppose we will just have to wait and see.

Jono

I think Nani is perfectly suited to pass and move football, he doesn't seem like a hit and hope crosser (even though he's quite good). Just look at the start of the season for proof.

Percy

Believable3 Unbelievable4

Percy
come on pal maybe its time to drop the nani debate , i bet you £10 you cant go a day with out posting about him.

Agree0 Disagree0

I honestly think that Nani could be more effective and consistent in the formations you have mentioned, with a forward players rotating. I actually think that changing formation could lead to Valencia not being first choice as much even though he was probably one of if not our best player in latter half of season.

Enigma

Agree0 Disagree0

I love to way jred and others are ripping into EVERY post Percy makes in response to others about Nani. You can't see the irony in daring Percy to not post favourably about Nani, when you post negatively every single time his name is mentioned!

Seriously, you both disagree, just hug it out, pick a different player and try to find some common ground... Why not start with Vidic?

DodgyBanter

Agree2 Disagree0

I dont really disagree i like nani i think there are some aspects to his game that need improving but you could say that about any other player.
i wouldnt sell him unless it meant us signing a very good player instead.
it we had of bought hazard and sold nani i would of accepted that , if we bought gaitan and sold nani i would be disappointed.
some people rate nani as amazing or worldclass i think his to inconsistent to be rated that highly.
i dont think any one is doubting nani is a good player its how good
jred

Agree2 Disagree0

As I've mentioned previously his inconsistency comes from playing on the left, season 10/11 when played from the right he created the most goals in the league and was voted United Players player of the year! Seems to me the players rated him a lot higher than you lot!

I believe we will only spend £30m+ on a player who has the potential to be very special.

Sydney!
-----------------------------
When I look at Javi Martinez, I see the potential for a bigger, stronger Xavi. He is a force to be reckoned with, and if we got him, we would instantly become a better side. At £30m, it would be a snip.

Manchester United are on the verge of sealing a deal to sign creative midfielder Shinji Kagawa from Borussia Dortmund, according to reports in Germany.

United manager Sir Alex Ferguson’s interest in the Japanese ace has been long running as he bids to reinvigorate an ageing midfield, still reliant upon Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes.

And Ferguson has been inching ever closer to Kagawa ever since the 23-year-old decided against extending his contract with the Bundesliga champions.

Now German magazine Kicker has revealed that United are closing in on a £12m deal, which could rise to £17.5m depending on his performance.

Arsenal have also been linked with a move for Kagawa but Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc has confirmed that the agreement with United is almost complete.

He said: "Some details are still to be confirmed."

What about going for Ronaldinho? He's the best free agent on the market and he only just turned 32 in March, so he has still got play left in him, he's still a 25-30 games a season player! He would cost nothing...

Believable2 Unbelievable4

There's a reason he's been playing in Brazil, no European club would touch him due to a combination of: high wage demands, lack of form, and an excess of partying and fluctuating weight.

Most experts seem to think he'll end up in China.

As a Manchester united fan I have now become resigned to the fact that we will never spend mega bucks in the transfer Market for the foreseable future. Berbatov was the last really big transfer fee paid by united and in think it's the legacy of getting our fingers burned on that deal that continues today. Players like sneijder, modric and hazard will never feature in our transfer plans because we simply can't or won't compete at that level. Players names are bandied about at this time of the season to sell season tickets. Sad but true!

O and actually i never wanted Sneijder last year or this as i don't rate him at all. Now Hazard yes i was disappointed as the kid is going to be top class. Shame about the ego as well.

Agree0 Disagree0

If you don't rate sneijder then you don't know much about football, he is a class act, the issue is the amount of money he wants and his attitude.

Why are people so hung up on re signing players we got rid of for whatever reason?

The only player we would reisgn is Ronaldo and there is more chance of Liverpool winning next season champions league.

Manchester United have been put on red alert after Chelsea have released 2 of there Champions League Winners.

Jose Bosingwa (29) Solomon Kalou (25)

As there is no value in the transfer market Mr Ferguson.. what about signing expeirenced players instead of us being linked with Clyne, Powell etc..

Bosingwa would certainly improve us at right back and lets all face it..... Kalou would be a perfect replacement for the 7.4 million pound clown BEBE!!

Believable1 Unbelievable7

Kalou will want to go somewhere he will get played after warming the bench for years. And Bosingwa an improvement over Rafael?

Get out of it!

Joe

Agree3 Disagree1

I'm not a fan of Kalou at all, don't rate his technical ability or final ball/shooting and certainly don't see him fitting in with the style we are aiming for

I never rated Bosingwa either tbh but in a couple of the games I saw him play last season he actually played well, I was amazed. Still, don't think he's good enough to block Rafael's progress - so no

Gav

Agree3 Disagree0

Bosingwa is a shocking right back, I think most Chelsea fans are glad to see him go.

Bosingwa is a clown. I can count the number of good performances he's put in for Chelsea on one hand. Kalou is a better player but still nowhere near the kind of standard we should be looking at.

With the Eurozone in incipient collapse the chances are that clubs in Spain, Greece and Portugal will be unable to sustain anything like their current levels of spend and that they will have to sell, and quickly.

Interesting footballing opportunities will come our way, certainly next summer if not this: what are the implications of this for us? At 40% off current prices (the likely currency depreciation for these countries) where should we look to do our shopping and for which players?

Cantrubian

Believable5 Unbelievable0

This is a bit of a cynical post mate - getting cheap Spanish players at the expense of millions of financially troubled Europeans is the last thing we want to be talking about now. How about looking at the bigger picture for once instead of just how it effects football!

Joe

Agree2 Disagree2

Yes I noted the exchange rate of the pound to euro had moved from parity to over 1.2 which means better value for our pounds.

Red Man

Agree1 Disagree0

40% likely currency depreciation for these countries? From now until next year? You reckon the Euro will fall that much against Sterling in the next 12 months?

Don't suppose you have the Euromillions winning lottery numbers as well do you? Ryan

Agree0 Disagree0

No this is the likely depreciation of the currencies after they leave the euro - ie drachma, peso and so on. If this happens the euro itself will appreciate by about 40 % as well. So German players will be more expensive and Spanish cheaper.

Let's get shopping.

For both.

I have been a United fan for many years and I have a good understanding of what United really need this summer.

We will require a new LB to be able to give Evra competition. Evra is currently our only LB with Fabio set to go out on loan and with his age and current form I deem it completely necessary that united bring in a LB. The ideal left back in my eyes is Baines, who can be snatched for around £12-15m. Bargain seeing as Baines is 27, pacey, and was dribbled round less times than Evra and Ashley Cole last season according to Opta Sports facts. Another Bonus with baines is that he is a sublime set piece taker (something which Man United lack) and he is English, so the England back 4 could eventually consist of United's Jones, Smalling and Baines. I would love Jordi Alba to be our new LB at just 23 years old but he is Barca bound and I cannot see him moving to England, unfortunately.

We will also require a defensive midfielder. With the likes kagawa almost certainly coming in to bolster the attacking options in midfield, a defensive midfielder is completely necessary to support the back 4 and dictate the pace of the game to move forward. I think the likes of Javi Martinez or Yann M'vila would be good signings for this role, although it would be certainly United's most expensive signing of the transfer window if they were to go for one of these players, but it is required if United are to become a fortress again.

Another necessary signing is a striker. We have the main striker Rooney and 2 decent strikers in the form of Welbeck and Hernandez, but if there were to be any injuries to any of these strikers next season (which trust me there will) we will be low on attacking options, so I believe another striker is completely necessary to reinforce the attacking options with Berbatov expected to leave, Owen already leaving on a free and Macheda almost expected to leave. A striker along the lines of Lewandowski or even a free agent such as Hoilett would be ideal. (yes I know there has been no link between United and Hoilett but it would be a value signing for a back up forward, especially as he is free.)

Those are the main areas that are NEEDED to be bolstered if we are to challenge next season.

I can think of other positions I would like to see reinforced but they are not priorities in this transfer window but I think we also may need:

A new RB such as Benatia.
A new CM.
A new CB, with Ferdinand ageing (yet still extremely reliable regardless of his critics) and Vidic hitting 29 and coming back from long term injury I just cannot put my trust in Smalling, Jones and Evans for a whole season.

But as I stated, I think it is necessary for United to get a new LB, CDM and ST.

Some people may disagree with me but I genuinely believe what I have written is REQUIRED regardless of whether you disagree with the players I have written.

Believable1 Unbelievable2

Javi martinez would b a brillant signing. Could play midfield or cb. so that could b 1 singing for 2 positions

Agree3 Disagree1

Shame you didn't leave your name but all in all not a bad post at all.

My Only concern is the want of a new right back i.e Benatia i don't feel we should reward Rafeal by dropping him in favour of the new signing because Benatia will not likely agree to be a bench warmer and refeals understudy. Rafeal is a brialliant young defender and will only get better. His link play with Toni is bliss to watch - i wish young and evra did the same.

I would look to make Rafeal a permanent starter with a young potential his understudy.

cb position i agree with ferdie in his last curtain call season i feel we need to either get blooding new cb's or sign 1 or 2 as cb seems to be the hardest hit position with regards to injury. feride and vidic being the examples.

Monk

Agree0 Disagree0

I think that Benatia would be a great buy as you said, but if we got him we'd have a right back and center back in one which would save us a whole lot of money.

Suppose I'll throw in my opinion on the hot topics of the last couple of days.

Nani should not be sold IMO because he can turn a game on its head with one piece of magic and our squad is sorely lacking in players like that. While he was pretty inconsistent last season people seem to be forgetting who it was that stepped up the season before last when Rooney was playing poorly and the rest of the attck weren't really contributing other than Berba scoring 5 in one match then not scoring for 5-6 matches. Players like Rodriguez look very promising but how would they fair in the PL? They might be just as inconsistent who knows? But I'd rather have Nani in the squad than sell him for someone with a big price tag just because he hasn't been outstanding in every game. If the player signed to replace him didn't settle immediately I can guarantee people would be shouting that we shouldn't have sold him.

On Luka Modric, I think he would be perfect for our midfield but I'd be reluctant to pay the money Spurs will likely demand. £25 million and I'd carry him to Old Trafford. I would much rather see Strootman, Bender or M'Vila and a striker bought though with the probable 30-35 million that we would spend on Modric.

Instead of going for Modric, united should be looking to get Christian Eriksen who has all the attributes to be a top midfield player for us. He would not cost as much as modric.

I really hope the starting 11 next season will be:

--Valencia-------Vidic---------Smalling----------Evra---
----------------Anderson---Cleverley--------------------
--------Nani---------Eriksen-------Kagawa------------
---------------------Rooney------------------------

When you say Anderson could do an RVP, what do you mean? Anderson would be great in the hole, but not on the left working the channel surely? He would definatly not support Evra. I'm a big fan of Anderson and hope to see him play lots in the center of our midfield next year.

6. Moutinho - Has not lived up to the promise he showed earlier in his career
7. De Rossi - Would be a very good signing. Doubt they'd sell / He'd leave
8. Jack Rodwell - Not good enough. Would end up paying twice what he's actually worth because he's English

Hi all, how is everyone today, and you Edd?
I havent posted for a while, but whenever i do post people usually listen.
I think im like everybody else when i say this but we need to spend big, the squad really needs strengthening this summer, especially in the midfield quartlet, i seriously think sir alex fergie got it all terribley wrong last year with his less than mediocre signings which just could not compete at all with man citys strength in depth, some say we havent got the funds but i think this is incorrect and that it is in fact sir alex fergie losing the plot. i personally dont agree with just another commercial asian recruitment just for the population popularity market, its not just for footballing reasons that we have signed lady kagawa and he's just going to be another squad player like sun park, but its first teamers we need. I have a long distant friend in the know who isnt one for telling fibs, and as much as i like to think that i know my stuff and im always right and he doesnt know more than me, but i hope for once on this info that he has recently passed on that he is right and im wrong. He said that it is going to be announced in the upcoming weeks and defintitly before the euros kick off that united are doing a swap deal with barcalona with Wayne Rooney for Cess Fabregas and Dave M'Villa, this will be the best peace of news this year when it happens for all parties involved, we need strong midfielders and a target man centre forward, barca need a new attacker and arsenal will recieve a huge profit from fabregas coming to us aswell so we are all winners in the end.
Bring on Real Madrid, Bayern, Napoli and Chelsea, we will run riot next year with these 2 and the improvement of de gea. jones, young, anderson, fletch, and hopefully rio can stay fit aswell.
What is the chance of this being announced before the euros Edd, or do u think it will be after so it doesnt distract them??

Yours faithfully and loyal as always, Roy Yates 1958

Squad Player?, No sir, we are good, but not that good that the Bundesliga player of the year will be a "squad player" in our team.
And , who's Dave M'Villa?

You made me laugh there. Is this the reason you have not posted for a while, that you have been dreaming up Fictional Football book and you post is the blurb of the book.
Honestly, Fergie loosing the plot, not keep up with City etc. We lost on GD, hardly not keeping up with them. That swap deal would never happen either. If it does i will personally pay for you to write a book of your choice and have 100,000 copies published and distributed.

If one more person compares Kagawa to Park I'm going straight to kick-it-out. I understand that they are both east asian and some people struggle to differentiate race from footballing ability. But it's about as applicable as saying, 'I hope we don't sign Cavani, he'll be just like Veron.' Becaus they're both south american, and that means they must be exactly the same player.

Park is a hard working defenisive winger, or a hard-working midfielder. Kagawa plays behind the striker, and is a very quick footed and creative playmaker who scores and creates a lot of goals. He has been a top player in Germany for the last few years and will definitely be pushing for a starting place in the team.

To all of you that says we should be looking to sell Nani so we can buy James Rodriguez and players such as.

“Sometimes you look in a field and you see a cow and you think it’s a better cow than the one you’ve got in the field. It’s a fact, right, and it never really works out that way. It’s probably the same cow and it’s not as good as your own cow."

Im sure United are working on a new contract for Nani. Let's wait and see how that develop. Not too long ago he said beautiful things about our club. He could see himself see out his career with us and all that.

Believable5 Unbelievable1

With all these cows in your field it's no surprise that it is Fray Bentos showing most interest in your squad

Simmo

If it's 'probably the same cow' - how on earth is it not as good as your own cow? Logic would suggest that the cow you're looking at is in fact your cow and has somehow got into the next field.

There's no doubting Nani's commitment to the club and it is nice to see a player who actually wants to play for us rather than one who views us as a stepping stone to RM. It's just a shame that he only turns up to about a third of the matches he starts.

Don't forget, by the way, that Rodriguez has also publicly stated his desire to play for Manchester United in the past.

I am not sure if Modric is the answer and at £35m even less so. But we do need a player like him to go alongside Kagawa in the attacking CM like xavi and iniesta for Barca. I think SAF sees this midfield as the way forward with technically gifted players playing quick passing moves to open up teams.

I think if we do go for modric or somebody similar then Phil Jones can be the defensive midfielder ( makalele type) we have been needing for years enabling the forward players to hurt the opposition.

This would be my formation..

De Gea

Smalling Ferdinand Vidic Evra

Jones

Valencia Modric Kagawa Nani

Rooney

Believable0 Unbelievable4

Cleverley? And Valencia can't do quick passing moves.

I honestly do not get why people are so anti modric on here. Its the stats and fancy flicks on youtube age i guess, the days of watching a player for a full 90 mins seem long gone. He is one of the best imo. SAF rated him as the best player outside of United the season before the last and i would trust his judgement. Even after a long drawn transfer saga, he has got on with the game and was the heartbeat of a Tottenham team that probably played the best football in the first half of the season. He has a top attitude.

People are saying he doesn't get enough goals or assists, and then the same people overlook Nani's statistics and say he is inconsistent. Doesn't make sense. If consistency is a major criteria then Modric is extremely consistent and a very good passer and mover of the ball. Do those who say that he doesn't get enough goals or assists actually understand how Tottenham use him and what role he plays in the team? Does Xabi Alonso get a lot of goals and assists, isn't he still a top player and get picked for most Real Madrid games?

I would love to see a midfield three of Modric, Carrick and Kagawa next season. Modric would bring the best out of both of them and enhance our wing play as well. He also takes a very good corner, something which we seem to be lacking. He would fit perfectly into the pass and move, fluid style we are aiming at.

Many suggestions of Martinez yet its known that he is not for sale unless some really ridiculous bid is made perhaps. Some say he could be like Yaya Toure when he is nowhere near as mobile as Toure. A tougher, battle hardened version of Carrick who keeps the ball better under pressure. If he is available, yes, definitely a top signing. But i see him staying at Bilbao.

REDFAITH

Believable3 Unbelievable3

There was a rumour that Martinez was unhappy at Bilbao in particular with Bielsa and his training techniques. The additional value with Martinez is that he can cover centre half as well. City are hovverring and that would just strengthen them further

Red Man

Agree3 Disagree0

I wouldnt mind a midfield 3 of modric-asamoah-kagawa but i doubt it would happen. I can only dream...

Agree1 Disagree2

It isn't the goals and assists that we need a Modric for, we need someone to break up opposition play and to get the ball to the players who will score the goals and get the assists. It's the area between defence and upfront that we are struggling. He is the perfect player for that particular job. However his price-tag is ridiculous at £30m+ and that will always be a stumbling block for us. I believe we will only spend £30m+ on a player who has the potential to be very special.

Sydney!

Agree2 Disagree0

Modric is technically gifted and works hard and his passing is quality.

Put it this way he wouldnt make our squad worse.

I see the arguement of '35 mil we could buy x or y with that' but he's good non the less, heck real madrid have declared an interest.(hope thats not lazy journalism if it is my whole arguement is flawed)

wait and see i guess, whatever happens id like to see Modric in a red shirt for a reasonable price. In my opinion.

Cban

Agree1 Disagree0

@ Red Man

If he is available, he should be top priority for us. I completely agree on that. Would allow us to play fast paced counter attacking football.

@ Sydney!

Maybe a player like Rio, could be chucked into the deal for Modric to bring the price down? Would suit all parties imo. Although i do understand Rio's experience and presence as a senior player at the club is vital.

REDFAITH

Agree0 Disagree0

Syd, sorry mate, don't you think that is a ridiculously large sum for a CM who wont be expected to chip in where it matters? Goals and/or assists?

Carrick already does the 'breakup' work, and chances are SAF will bloody start with him all next season - do we really want Modric/Carrick in the middle, passing neatly but lacking any kind of goal threat, no assists to speak of and come on - both are very lightweight in the tackle.

35m for Modric would be our summer ruined, IMO. Very good player, not for that price and he's peaked IMO.

RED_SKY

Agree2 Disagree1

RED_SKY

So you slag off 'bloody Carrick' but when we suggest a player who is much better than him but does a similar job you say he is no good?

I am becoming a little bored with the rather desperate defence of Nani. Nani cannot be compared to Ronaldo , anyone who was there to witness their debuts at OT should be able to tell the difference from that point on. Ronaldos debut was the most sensational I have seen and I have seen a few. Nani will never reach his level.

What is also noticeable is the sudden increase of new name posters defending Nani using similar style and wording to Nanis number one fan

Red Man

If you're talking about me, I'm sure the EDs can confirm that I have only been posting under my own name. I think the style you're talking about is called logic.

Percy

Believable0 Unbelievable3

You do not need logic only your eyes to see Nanis obvious issues.

I have access to more than one computer so what you said is meaningless and none of what we say makes a difference. Last summer Nani was for sale and that was SAFs position.

Red Man

Agree1 Disagree1

Ohhh sorry you are getting bored mate.

And I am posting under my own name and have always done so.

Further to you good point about logic Percy, I would add common sense.

Mike

Agree0 Disagree0

The opinion on Nani is split, but I would say most want to keep Nani, including me. But perhaps the most important thing is what SAF wants to do and last summer he did listen to offers for Nani. I have no doubt in my mind that if Hazard had chosen us then Nani would have been sold. The only way I would want to see Nani sold is if he was replaced by a similar player with the potential to be better. Otherwise I would prefer to keep Nani.

Sydney!

See this is where we differ, for me, not just in this situation, but in life in general I need logic, without it things don't make sense, like your argument.

Percy

Agree0 Disagree2

Percy

We're Manchester United you know not West Ham United. Joe Allen is over rated massively. United need players of real quality not average players. Sorry if that sounded strong but just hate it when people are happy with us linked to average players :-(

United Till I Die 1987

I suppose you want to sign some more players like Berbatov and Veron, that's cool too. Oh no wait, that's stupid because neither worked out for us as we would have hoped. I think after united didnt win eff all this season they need to defo replace current player. I was thinking a situation such as this:
OUTS:
1. Fabio da Silva-loan him out to benfica for a season to boost his playing time up at such a great well known club.
2. Patrice Evra- He is now 31 and i think his united days are over either now or get rid of him in the winter transfer window.
3. Anderson- He has been set back by to many injuries which he has hardly had time to play and improve.
4. Ji Sung Park- He is getting older and when i have seen him play recently he doesnt look like he has the desire to play for a massive club like us.
5. Dimitar Berbatov- He has been at his prime last season for united scoring 20 goals in the leauge but i think he needs to move on so we can replace his number 9 shirt to a younger promising attacker.

INS:
1. Nathaniel Clyne- He is such a promising young english player with a hell of a good future if he comes to united. I could see him being englands next ashley cole without a doubt. Would cost us between 2-3 million pounds.
2. Gregory van der Weil- A young Netherlandick full back with has alot of speed and very creative with the ball. A player noone has really talked about us getting but i think he would be a massive player at united, could replace gary nevilles shirt number 2 easyly. WOuld cost between 8-11 million pound to gather him.
OOOORRRR!!
2. Jori Alba- Or this full back from spain would be another massive player at united but the possible transfer to barcelona looks more likely. He would cost abit more roughly about 13 million pounds.
3. Sinji Kagawa- He is pretty much a united player now which is great news. He is only 23, he can play attacking midfield or either side of the wings with his pace. Who needs Eden Hazard whenwe got KAGAWA! he would be the replacement of Ji Sung Park.
5. Dembele- The FUlum staris a very good player proberly fulums best and i think he would be a good player for us because he can play attacking midfield or on the wings or even up front if we needed his to. We are the only club at the moment intreased in his would cost us 12 million to secure his but he will be a g ood player for us, just weatch the england vs belguim game saturday.
6. Nick Powell- 18 years old scores that many goals which some of his goals i have seen are world class...WOW! We would be in another battle with Chelsea for the teens signiture which could go up to 6-7 millin pounds but is a future star in the making. We will beat Chelsea to his signiture easily.

right there is one more midfeild player we need to get which is going to be the next manchester united walll of famer but i think SAF needs to look at the euros very closely and look for that man, He should speed up to 35 million to secure this midfielder because this is the main position we need filling.
My suggestions are Christian Errikson(Denmark), Luka Modric(Croatia), Wesley Snidjer(Netherlands), Alan Dzagoev(Russia), Toni Kroos(Germany)

The number 9 shirt should go to Danny Welbeck
The Number 2 shirt to Gerory va der Weil or Clyne
The number 7 shirt to The next midfielder coming

Believable0 Unbelievable5

Ah the famous 'marquee signing' bit added at the bottom! I doubt we will look at the Euro's and buy a player based on that, the price would be inflated and the only time we have done this I believe was Karel Poborsky!

Its JORDI Alba, SHINJI Kagawa and MOUSSA Dembele, at least get the names right of these players.

Is Netherlandick the same as Dutch? I like the word but not sure it exists lol.

Agree the 5 players you mentioned may need to be moved on, I think Evra and Anderson may be given one more season though. I was watching the Wayne Rooney - Goal machine programme last night on MUTV and the amount of goals Anderson was involved in I was shocked, I think when he is injured we forget what an asset he can be. If he can get fit he could be great.

So Chelsea are in for hulk and with mata hulk Torres and hazard there going to have some striker force

While we have Rooney and DANNY WELBECK

who exactly are we going to buy to strengthen and challenge. Same every year we move to slow and use that same old frase "no value"

Believable4 Unbelievable2

So you include their wingers and attacking midfielders but only include 2/3 of our strikeforce and expect us to think this is a sensible post?

Including the players that play the same position as the ones you named we have:

Rooney
Welbeck
Hernandez
Nani
Young
Valencia
Kagawa

Feel a bit better?

PS move too slow? The window isn't open yet!

GDS

Agree1 Disagree0

Marin Hazard Mata

Hulk

Valencia Kagawa Nani

Rooney

Is thee that much difference really? Though I would like another attacking player along with Kagawa if we do sign him, I dont think its priority, other positions far more urgent if you ask me, just people dont get excited about such signings
Invisible Stuey

Agree0 Disagree0

Danny Welbeck has more goals than Torres and if I'm honest, I don't rate Hulk even slightly. He has a powerful shot so everyone's creaming themselves over him. Hazard won't be as good as people are saying, he'll be good, but he'll need time to settle in and in a few years, he'll probably be one of the best in the world.
Either way, Welbeck is more than capable of holding his own.

Pecy

Agree1 Disagree0

Actually we have rooney welbeck hernandez young nani and valencia

Agree0 Disagree0

Danny Wellbeck will be a better player than Hulk, he probably already is. If he had been playing for someone else last season he'd cost a fortune. I don't rate Hulk either, yes he can produce a moment of brilliance if given a lot of time and space; time and space that he wont be given in the EPL. Chelsea are pretty good and converting 40 million + strikers into hard working wingers/wing backs, I expect Hulk to be low on confidence and putting deep crosses in by January.

Agree1 Disagree1

Boy go n support chelsea then, n u will fulfill your football fantasy Dream team...

United have 659Million fans, -1 doesn`t make a difference..

Agree0 Disagree0

We move slow...yet the window hasn't even opened yet

you must be a really fast paced kinda guy!

If we manage to keep hold of Pogba and he signs a 4year deal for instance. Do you think we would pull out of the Powell deal. I've heard 3.25m with add ons for int. caps and cup wins. Could end up 5m+

What is Nick Powell's best position anyway?

AM or Behind the striker in the hole? We have Petrucci who was once touted as the new Totti and was very close to pushing for a place on the bench end of last season.
2nd Striker? We have Will Keane pushing for a place, 1 appearance in the EPL last season. Wanted on loan by Palace, Boro, Blackburn and Stoke (hope his injury isn't too serious when he gets his scan)
CM? I'd prefer Paul Pogba as he is more highly rated in
Europe with great potential and is wanted by Arsenal, City and Juventus.
Could he play on the wing? We have promising youngsters in Brady, Lingard & Cole also.

It seems if we do get Nick Powell he'll follow the Tom Cleverley route. Div.1 loan at Crewe then a Championship
Loan and so on.
Then again Oliver Norwood has taken this route Carlise, Scunthorpe & Coventry. Fergie has gone on to mention he's watched Norwood and thought he's been a star performer at Coventry and offered him a new deal. The next stage is a Premiership loan. Does Fergie have any plans for Norwood to break through?

I've not mentioned Tunnicliffe as he is classed as a DM.

So with all this talent plus Pogba staying is it worth a punt on Nick Powell????? {Ed001's Note - Powell can play anywhere across the midfield or attack, but he is best in the hole behind the striker.}

Y is every1 slatting modric saying he over rated imo we need sum quality in our midfield, that's the place were we seem the most vulnerable

And can ppl tell me who are we actually being linked with no bull**** aswell lol

Believable0 Unbelievable1

Modric seems to have been added to the 'players we slate even though the're good' list along with Bale and Baines by some on this site. Quite a strange phenomenom

I know this isn't the England page, but I have a question. Besides the fact that I'm still upset there is no Grant Holt in the squad - why on earth are they not picking Micah Richards? I know Capello had issues with him, and he had a little injury towards the end of the season, but he is clearly the front runner in my eyes..

Is there a reason I don't know?

Joe

Believable3 Unbelievable1

Yes Joe woy is useless

Pardoe

He wanted to take Glen Johnson and Phil Jones, they can both play in multiple positions if need be. Richards was asked to be on the reserve list and refused.

GDS

He was injured towards the end of the season. But he was available for the last 5 games or so but wasn't being picked ahead of Zabaleta.

First of all I'm a first time poster so go easy eh? Here's what's on my mind:
I know that Hazard has said he's joining the Champions League winners but
1) He never said he was joining Chelsea
2) United are CL winners too don't forget - just not this year.
3)Even on his own website he doesn't mention Chelsea, and in fact the website is sort of teasing everyone by mentioning ManU and Kagawa and saying wouldn't it be great if Hazard and Kag were in the same team sometime in the future
4) Chelsea haven't confirmed the signing
5) Normally if we get beaten to a key player SAF makes a comment like 'we were never in for him' or 'ridiculous agents' etc etc but so far - silence.

I know the media seems to have decided this one already but I am struggling to find actual evidence - anyone agree with me?

Believable5 Unbelievable4

I like your optimism but he's definitely going Chelsea...unless they then say no we don't want you anymore.

Agree2 Disagree0

It's possible that:
Hazards tweets > City/Utd act quickly before anythings signed and make a last ditch effort to lure him (pay more).

But I really couldn't care less any more. Tired of reading his name. Let's just wait and see!

M.D.

Agree2 Disagree0

Pretty sure one of the Chelski players came out on twitter saying that they are looking forward to playing with him next season. You'd assume they of all people would know if it's a done deal or not. I imagine the reason they haven't confirmed the transfer yet is because they are still to confirm a manager. I don't think I've ever seen a player presented without a manager being present so expect them to announce a manager by the end of next week and announce Hulk, Hazard and Marin shortly after.

Fergie clearlly isnt going to sign anyone else who's class other than KAGAWA

Giggs and Scholes have re signed

Still have fletcher, Anderson, vidic to come back.

So with Valencia, carrick,Scholes,, cleverly, Anderson, fletcher, park, young, nani, giggs, kagawa and maybe pogba that's our midfield sorted. (it's poor but fergie doesn't feel there's value in the market as we don't have the funds to compete FACT)

rafeal,rio,vidic,smalling,jones,evra,fabio that's our defence sorted

Rooney, Hernandez, welbeck

Realistically fergie isn't going to buy anymore that one world class player, hell buy 2 or 3 youngens with POTENSIAL as past windows, it's a joke and I for one am sick of it.

Teams around us are just doing to strengthen while we get left behind.

We need 3 world class players minimum to be contending in all competetiTions not just the prem.

Fergie out

Believable3 Unbelievable5

Perhaps you should leave this outburst until early Spetember or late August or at least when the transfer window has actually opened?

Gav

"Fergie out"

That's either somebody called Fergie signing off in radio talk, or it's not a Man Utd fan.
FERGIE OUT?!
Get a grip or go support City. I'm sure you can live your Football Manager fantasies with them. Enjoy.
Fergie will step down soon enough for the few haters out there, but until he does don't even bring it up in public. 2 years max IMO.

M.D.

Agree1 Disagree2

That's the beauty about Sir Alex, doesn't matter who he buys or who he puts out, his teams always perform.
I wouldn't worry the fact that he's not buying expensive big name players, he makes players who they are!
On paper most would have looked at Young, Phil Jones and Smalling as poor signings compared to Nasri, Aguero etc. but it doesn't matter because the team plays great attacking football and lost the title on goal difference!
Sir Alex has reached the Champions league final 3 times in 4 years...WOW. The worry isn't who he buys, it's who comes in when he leaves.
Really sorry about the rant but I for one think Man Utd have too good a foundation not to be competing.

Agree2 Disagree3

If the O.P is a united fan, than I am Bob Marley.

CnM

Rival fan on a wind-up I think. No one would moan about lack of signings before the window actually opened surely. United could have Clyne, Powell & Kagawa wrapped up within a couple weeks if things pan out nicely. Then we can set our sights on the rest of the targets.

I didnt original post but seriously hes allowed an opinion

'goo support city is the saddest respose ever'

he has a massive point and hes right season tix up for renewal so links wit big players then................

dont be a kid say support city thats just pathetic.

Had to laugh at the guy up there that says "fergies teams always perform"

im a man utd fan through and through but how can you say that whilst keeping a straight face!! we were absolutely terrible for 3/4 of the season last year and were lucky to achieve what we achieved in the league!! we lost silly silly games and were absolutely appalling in the cup runs, the cup runs clearly showed how crap we were playing as they are the games were u cant afford slip ups and what have you, fergie grinded the results last season and that is it......there were a lot of draws and unsatisfying wins we scraped from the barrell.

Robbo

Agree0 Disagree1

Ms85

Thing is mate, a lot of people on here adopt that 'head in sand' attitude.

If we signed nobody but Kagawa, SAF bleated on about no value, Fletcher being a new signing, etc, you'd still get:

"If you want to see new blood, go support City!"

That being said, OP seemed like a troll.

RED_SKY

Agree3 Disagree0

Ms85,

The window is not even open and he is telling us we have not signed anyone in the window! How does he have a massive point?

As I keep saying, the fans we actually want will buy season tickets whoever plays for the club. I will be there week in week out even if we win nothing for 5 years, I will be gutted and hope for change but I will still be there!

GDS

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes it was a bit pathetic but sometimes people wind me up.
"The saddest response ever" would be to remove Fergie from our club because he just lost the title on goal difference.

M.D.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think we will sign Clyne, Willems, Powell, Kagawa & Gaitan. Perhaps Asamoah/Strootman if Pogba leaves.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

Robbo,

A lot of draws?

We drew 5 games out of 38, away at Stoke, Chelsea and Liverpool and Everton and Newcastle at home.

The 3 away games are good points, especially as we came back from 3-0 down in one. The Stoke game we should have had a penalty and Woodgate sent off in the first 5 minutes but instead we lost Hernandez to an injury that ruined his season.

The home games we all know what happened in the Everton game and the Newcastle game was possibly the worst penalty decision ever.

I appreciate we were not great but don't just make stuff up!

If valencia & young are fit and its a big game nani is on the bench
jred

Jred do you just think up random things to say without checking facts?

The facts are Nani started against

Basel (A) - biggest game of the CL
Man C - home & away & FA cup
Spurs - home & away
Chelsea - home - injured away
Arsenal - home & away
Liverpool- home (on the bench away but came on to provide the cross for little peas equalizer! Injured in FA cup.

Now I would think they are our biggest games of the season. So you should really check your facts before running your mouth off.

Fabio No2

Believable3 Unbelievable4

Our manager is the master of rotation and will pick whoever he thinks fit for the occasion or who he thinks is in best form. So I dont really see any 2 of our wingers being especially being 'first choice'. Valencia was on the bench for the biggest game of our season v City afterall

I think SAF has full faith in all 25 men in his squad and this has played a big part in his success over the years

Gav

Agree0 Disagree0

FABIO
man city away young was coming back from injury so was on bench
man city fa cup young was injured not in team or on bench
spurs away valencia injured not in team or on bench
spurs at home valencia also out not in team or on bench
arsenal at home again valencia was out
arsenal away young was out
liverpool home nani never played
liverpool away nani on bench

fabio no 2 i stand by my statement , yes nani played in some of our big games but not when young and valencia were fully fit
jred

Agree2 Disagree1

Jred

Seems to me like you ommitted:-
Basel away (biggest game of CL) Valencia benched
Man City away (biggest game of season) Valencia benched.
Chelsea home - Valencia benched

The only big game that Nani was fit available and did not start was Liverpool away in which I have already stated he came on to provide the cross for the equalizer. So to say when Valencia and Young are fit for the big games they start is catagorically wrong.

Agree1 Disagree1

Sorry pal i missed the basel game but was valencia not coming back from his ankle injury he was also on the bench the week before against villa
and lets be honest every united fan couldn't believe that valencia was on the bench for the city game it was an awful decision.
also was nani not benched for our last 2 european cup finals.
i still stand by my statement when fully fit valencia and young start.
i also disagree that i just think up random things before checking facts.

Out of interest using games to highlight Nani such as Basel and City away is hardly good. We lost both pretty poorly and created very little

Percy, that is your opinion mate. In terms of quality I can think of many better players than Joe Allen. Like I said he is a good player, but he is not going to improve us is he?

Sydney!

In my opinion, Allen is in the same bracket as Wilshere. Criticise me if you want, but I've seen lots of both, and I think if Allen was playing with the likes of Rooney, Nani, Cleverley, etc, he would be as good as Wilshere.

Percy

Believable3 Unbelievable5

I really hope Joe Allen goes to Liverpool and I think he'll do a great job up there.
I have to come down with Percy on this one. Great little player.
...Just stuck my neck out on this one, didn't I?

M.D.

Agree0 Disagree1

I will agree with Percy that Allen is a gifted player but i feel that he isn't quite in the same league as the likes of youngsters such as wilshire. Allen has had a great season, but has not been the standout performer for Swansea in my opinion, I think that accolade goes to either Sinclair or Vorm. Whereas whilst Wilshire played with Bolton he was the best player in the side by a mile.

i am not saying that Allen would be a bad signing, I feel he may add a lot to the squad. I do not however see him claiming a first XI place on a regular basis. He could however be a suitable replacement for Anderson if he moves on to pastures new.

Paso

Agree0 Disagree0

If he is a "Great little player" then why would you want him to go to Liverpool?

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree1

I enjoy the rivalry with Liverpool. But I'm not one of those Utd fans that want to see them get relegated.
I'm a football fan. Liverpool is a huge club and I hope to see Allen performing in Europe where he can continue to develop and hopefully become a better player.
Maybe then people will start to see how good he can be.
If you're asking why I'm not saying he should join Utd, well he hasn't been linked.

What do people think about utilizing Nani as a second striker ?

Eds?

MUMBAI_BOY {Ed007's Note - It would depend who Blackburn played as the lone striker.}

Believable1 Unbelievable2

I honestly think this could happen next season. We will keep the 3 strikers we have got at the club already in Rooney, Welbeck and Chicharito.

We know if kagawa joins he likes to play up top with a striker and we have already seen Young do a job there in the second half against sunderland and linked up well with Rooney and he does it for England.

Nani has admitted he prefers that role as he feels that is his stronger part of his game when he doesnt have to cross as much and he is more influencial in the middle
