ed. when will vidic be returing from injury,
thanks in advance {Ed001's Note - I don't know yet, the club have not given a return date for him yet. Incidentally this is a decent site for keeping an eye on Prem injuries: http://www.physioroom.com/news/english_premier_league/epl_injury_table.php they do keep a track of them.}

Well, we weren't great but we weren't awful. We passed well and kept the ball well most of the time, just not at the pace we wanted and needed, but Norwich defended well. They tackled and they pressed consistently. I would have started Welbeck. Better link up play that Hernandez. Jones played very well, and Fletch tackled and pressed well for the main part of the game. Overall, average game with an average score result but got 3 points. Gilly

And Dogleash proves that if you moan about refs on tv you will get a decision. disgraceful. The break could not have come at a better time as we need to re group and sort it out. RAINFISHTROMBONE

Maybe you should read Jeff Winters (ex PL ref) article about Fergies manipulation of Refs over the years. This coming from a ref who didn't get to officiate Utd games while others had 5/6 in the same period. Once again it's laughable that a Manc should bring this up.

Now if you give me half an hour, I'll dig up disgusting & ungentlemanly behaviour by Utd players! That shouldn't be too hard.

Am I sensing on this page, a fair bit of doubt that you are actually worried and realized your team is not as ambrosia as you think.
Your team as shown in the last weeks,what a second rate team they have become. No depth,no direction,weak in defence and a jelly midfield and a goalkeeper with a doughnut fetish.
Man utd are a team in subsidence the cracks are all around you.

Every body keeps talking about which cm we shud get, but 1 player who wud fit in well at united dare i say it is sergio busquets. Great player absolutely destroyed us in the final with his 1 touch passes ,and with the likes of tiago and fabregas now in the barca team maybe a cheeky bid wud go down well. evry1 always talks about iniesta and xavi but busquets always starts off the attacks and its the way he plays that we all taught carrick wud play like when we bot him from spurs,also hes the reason yaya toure left cos he cudnt get his game, and if ny1 disagrees with me they shud watch this vid of him gameplay against us in the final

Would like to say let's stop getting carried away with todays performance, Norwich were good and came with a good game plan, we can't expect to hammer teams every week.
Yes we are playing too open at the moment and have to say always worried when I see Evans on the team sheet, just too dodgy, gets beat too often by average strikers.
Half the problem in midfield is that Anderson is just not mobile enough, he has had a run in the team this season which people have asked for but for me he should never be in the first 11. Thank god for Clev and i can't believe i'm saying that.
What has happened to Fletch also would rather have Carrick at the moment.
Final part of the rant why on earth is Berba not playing, against a bottom half team parking the bus and playing on the break, he is perfect in those games. Hernandez is better against more confident teams who play a higher line, Berba is the man against teams who defend deep and park the bus.
Anyway lads lets give the Canaries some credit they are a decent team who i'm sure will stay up.

I think that SAF is building the future of this squad on Cleverly and Anderson in the middle of the park. Keeping that in mind thats why i think we are going for Bruno, bit older, good solid player who has ability but also steel. Alternatively i'd go for M'Vila.

The other player i think we need is Higuain, he has alot about him, he's class at just about anything and most people forget that he is still 23.

A close shave
I read an article by Rooney saying we are trying to play like Barcelona. Well we didnt close down high up the pitch and looked uncomfortable with intricate passing in and around the box. I really dont see how we can emulate Barcelona with Anderson and Fletch, Carrick or even for that matter Valencia or Nani if they play like today.
Norwich denied us space yet we didnt control the ball with confidence in the middle. Norwich were quick to close us down wide and we were not able to switch the ball quickly, our tempo was slow. Herandez can be better away from home where the defence allows a little more space behind and he needs to learn to hold the ball better. Park is a worker, valuable away from home but cant create anything. Rooney had a poor game, he needs to stop thinking he can chip the keeper all the time.
Evans is weak for a centre half, he was dominated by a workman from Norwich. Too often he didnt clear the ball out.
Our central midfield just cannot play the way SAF is hoping. Fletcher was frankly hopeless.
We talk about Pogba and Morrison but if Pogba cant make the bench for a home game like Norwich, what is going on?
We had an escape and picked up the points but the lack of creativity is a major concern. Nani is heralded on here as a world class player but his consistency and decision making remains questionable.
We will play better but the same problems we had last year remain and as yet there is still no sign of Pogba or Morrison coming over the hill to help.

Hello loyal followers

As you know i was man enough to stand up and admit that i was wrong, and apologised soon after, to my biggest fan Sydney.

Now i would like to see some of you stand up and be counted. And admit how RIGHT i was all season, about your terrible, terrible defence.

Who'll be the 1st?

Every match, someone asks for more players. Stop whining, We're doing just fine, once Cleverly gets back we'll have more creativity. And when Vidic gets back no doubt our defence will be stronger. There's no point in the doom and gloom all the time!

This is what i'd like to see by the end of summer 2012...

Outs: Kusczak, Gibson, Bebe, Diouf, Owen/Berbatov (one) and possibly Carrick but probably not and Ferdinand maybe.

Ins: Martinez (or M'Vila), Higuain and Bale.

This would leave us with a fantastic squad:

De Gea, Lindegaard, Amos.

Rafael, Fabio, Bale, Jones, Smalling, Evra, Evans, Ferdinand, Vidic.

Valencia, Nani, Young, Park, Anderson, Carrick?, Fletcher, Cleverly, Pogba, Morrison, Petrucci, Martinez.

Rooney, Hernandez, Welbeck, Berbatov, Higuain, Macheda

You people always say Evra is good going forward, but whats the use if he cant pass or put in a good cross. Better thing for him would be to sit back and defend.

And why the hell is Chica offside all the time? In the Barca game also I cant remember how many times he was offside. This just results in loss opportunities. He should learn from his mistakes. Welbeck seems to be better.

Funny enough, it is these types of games that Berbatov was purchased for, teams that put ten players in front of the ball and park the bus. I don't think Hernandez was the right player for this game, that was so noticeable 45 minutes into the game and perhaps he should have been swapped earlier? But have to say well done to Norwich, they defended well as a unit and were difficult to break down. We are too open in midfield at the moment, we do need a midfielder to tighten-up the midfield and today in the Liverpool game you could see exactly why we were tracking Jack Rodwell for the past few years. He was immense against City and immense until his sending off today. Still only 20, still worth keeping an eye on IMO, if he can remain injury-free he will have a great season. It's evident we need Vidic, Smalling & Cleverley to return, the good news is they will be ready for the Liverpool game.

The players I believe utd need to sell and fast;

Owen,berbatov,carrick,Kushak,park,Diouf,,Gibson and maybe evans.
after that we need a new striker or 2,2 midfielders and a right bk!

And there i was told that as soon as Rooney came back all would be fine. Well what today showed was what I have been saying for ages. Evans not good enough and easy to bully off the ball. Park anonymous Fletcher creates nothing and yet gets none of the stick Carrick does. Anderson is not anywhere near the class we need at the club. Rooney wasteful and greedy when he could have twice played Wellbeck in. The really great thing is that we are playing so badly and we are still top. Sir Alex will sort it out. I thought Jones was magnificent today. And Dogleash proves that if you moan about refs on tv you will get a decision. disgraceful. The break could not have come at a better time as we need to re group and sort it out. RAINFISHTROMBONE

While we ended up getting the result today,I can't help but feel Norwich deserved something out of the game,we were simply very very poor again,defensively were a shambles and midfield looks too week,if we keep playin like that,I fear we won't win the league,and to b honest we'l struggle to get through to the nxt stages of the champions league,never mind beating Barcelona,it's sad and pathetic football from us at the mo and it's lookin more n more evident that we will suffer the conciquences for never strengthen it in midfield,

We were really lucky today, no excuse for the performances we've been putting in the last few weeks. Aside from Jones none of our defenders can be happy with today. Park anonymous for the whole game until popping up with the assist, Anderson uninventive and poor passing, Nani missing, Hernandez offside more times than I recall him being in possession, and Rooney greedy and wasteful. Fletcher, Jones and Linder did well but 3 players out of 11 just isn't good enough.

Another bad performance. I'm sure someone will tell me that the win and the three points are what counts but the way the team played today has me worried. SAF's reaction to the second goal said it all, he's far from happy with what he's seen. I'll never know how Norwich didn't score with the chances they created. With a half decent striker they'd have got themselves a few goals today. More slack defending from Evra, Anderson and Fletcher had no idea what to do with the ball at their feet, Rooney was ineffective up top. Both Modric and Martinez should be looked at in January - I think I'll be saying that a few times in coming months. Neither of them would command high wages, or be cup-tied. They're exactly the type of player that United need at the moment.

On a positive note, I think Jones had another good game, made some vital interceptions. He could have got himself two assists if Welbeck had turned in his cross. The International break couldn't come at a better time. Hopefully Vidic, Smalling and Cleverley are all fit and ready for the Liverpool game.

if im not mistaken lindegaard have had his debut in all three major trophy hunts.. 2 cleen sheets one gal against in his best one where he actually saved the one point for us.. All this while looking very calm and robust.. Too bad our defence is a bit under what i had hoped quality wise.. But hurray for lindegaard!

well still top and a goal difference of 19........ BUT BOY do we make hard work of it sometimes........

I would be happy with that performance away but Norwich should be brushed aside with ease at home...

really would like to see rooney up top on his own and mid-field 3 of Clevs, Ando & Jones v's pool

more pace about the middle of the park and cover in jones......

we will see.

For *** sake! Are we playing Barcelona, City, Madrid or Bayern? Is insane the way we struggle against this small teams. If we have quality players we should beat them easily to show them WHO'S UNITED. We need to improve a lot in order to compete with the big teams in the CL otherwise I can't see us challenging this big teams. I'm very proudly to be UNITED but I'm realistic enough to see that if we find a team who can take the opportunities seriously they'll beat us.

I really hope SAF realize that we need proper players at the club that can give us something different and bring more quality and class that we already have there. But please, Carrick, Berbatov(thanks for last season but...), Diouf, Gibson and many others are not just good players for a team like UNITED. Is true that we don't need superstars an keep winning but what we don't really need is a banal players. Evra is almost done, Ferdinand is old and he's definetly not the same.
I can't wait for Vidic, Smalling and Rafael to get back. We really need some quality players to complete the package. Please SAF.

So what did you's think of the 1st half, Very poor IMO, Dont think ive ever seen us with such a low tempo, Anderson and Evra just constantly give the ball away and Fletch has so much free space when he has the ball but just lacks the creativity to do anything, Dont even think we had a shot on target, Also, bit suprised to see young not even on the bench, Id say SAF will have a good talk with them at half time and we should be up for it the 2nd half, Hopefully only a matter of time b4 we score

I don't feel that Carrick needs to be replaced just yet, he is a good squad player and he won't be picked over Cleverly when it matters. I would however like to see one more CM. For me it would be Modric, however do you think this would have a negative effect for those up and coming? Id go for Martinez ar 18 to 25 million, who would you want? Martinez is box-to-box, maybe M'Vila as a different option?

Up top i think if there are departures then Van Persie would be worth a punt in the summer? Higuain is also an option with the two Napoli boys commanding a bit of interest. Lavezzi would be the cheaper and arguably has more about him than Cavani. Hazard could also be an option if we wanted to play him through the middle? Ed do you think this would make sense, and that Hazard could play through the middle?

EJ {Ed002's Note - It all seems pretty unlikely I am afraid.}

Sorry folks! But do you really think that this UNITED TEAM can compete against Barcelona or Madrid? 20minutes against Norwich and we look like a 2nd division team, no ball possession, no shots on goal, no pressing and the opposition is playing like they're at home. Definetly we need a LB to challenge Evra and a creative CM. ASAP

What will we do if we buy Hazard?
Will he just jump straight into the team? Because with the way Nani and Young are playing it would be harsh to drop one of them
What do you think Ed. ?
If we get Ganso or Gotze they will probably go straight into the team because we don't have a really creative central midfielder. In the future I hope to see one of them partner Cleverly in midfield.

Breeno {Ed001's Note - I can't see a need for Hazard, it is a central midfielder that is needed, M'Vila, Arturo Vidal, Javi Martinez or maybe even Banega, but Nani, Cleverley, Young and Valencia are easily good enough.}
