Our very own danny welbeck had a brilliant game tonight scored his 1st champions league hatrick i guess. Credit when its due, hope he can make his name elsewhere

Credit where its due - well done dany

Criticism where its due - the Galatasaray defense was pants. Especially melo.

There's a reason I have him in my fantasy football team. Given the chance to play in a central position I can see him coming good. I suggested when he left that he may well outscore all of our strikers and was ridiculed. Early days so far - but he's already ahead of Rooney, RVP and Falcao.

Agree1 Disagree1

In all comps red or just in the bpl? Hasn't he got just the one in the league?

How's he ahead of Rooney redseven? You can't include CL goals.

Agree1 Disagree0

Congrats to Danny, we would have loved him to do it for us bit the reality is he may have just been at the wrong club for him. 3 managers saw him as below other players (maybe his flexibility went against him ala Smalling/Jones).
Over the season it could be that Arsenal, Man Utd and Danny are all better off with the Deal.

Glad he's gone never good enough

Great effort from Danny Welbeck good to see him doing well. I do wonder though how much of his lack of goals at United was down to a front two Rooney/RVP who play purely for themselves. From what I've seen so far Arsenal look to have created more chances for Welbeck this season than United managed all last year. I think Falcao has as many assists as Rooney and RVP put together this season.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ozwald - Why exactly can't I include Champions League goals? Last time I checked they were scored in a not too dissimilar fashion to Premier League goals?

Brad - Agreed. I think everybody is better off. I kind of wish we had just loaned him there to prevent him scoring against us and on the off chance that he bangs in 30 goals (ironically - this is what Wenger wanted as well but we refused).

Agree1 Disagree0

Well you're comparing welbeck's goals over 5 games in 2 different competitions, compared to Falcaos 2 games in 1 competition?

Agree2 Disagree0

Welbeck is not and never will be as good as any of our 3 strikers.

Agree2 Disagree0

Anon - 3 games - but as far as I'm concerned ECL goals are worth a lot more than EPL goals anyway due to the increase in opposition difficulty and overall pressure.

By the same token though people have been comparing Welbeck to Rooney and RVP when he's played less minutes and in less advantageous goalscoring positions.

Agree0 Disagree0

Most of us didn't want to see him go. It is a shame.
GCU very quiet??!!

Agree1 Disagree0

I'd hardly say Falcao has played 3 games for us, he's play about 160 mins of football so far.

Agree0 Disagree0

Fresh - Its all relative I think it is perfectly fair to say that our Utd pre ADM/Herrera needed a Welbeck more than it needed a Rooney or RVP. Yes if you were picking a dream team you would have Rooney & RVP ahead of Welbeck on paper, but if you looked at what Utd were lacking then Welbeck should have been chosen ahead of them every week.

Certain players fit certain styles and systems better. Welbeck would score more than RVP & Rooney if started upfront for Utd instead of out wide or on the bench, especially if spoon fed penalties.

The Utd team were crying out for some pace and a worker upfront who would stretch teams, as a result we barely created chances with the ponderous Rooney & RVP combo. Now we have injected some pace and support from ADM & Herrera he isn't needed as much. We were desperate for Danny a month ago imo. This is why I was so angry we sold him, foolish decision when RVP is virtually finished.

Rooney & RVP could be better players with the new signings for me, but most people choose not to see that we didn't need them two as much as we did a Welbeck pre this window closing.

Agree0 Disagree0

Beast
Everybody knew we needed pace, that's why we bought di maria.
Rvp imo is a better striker than welbeck and i also think wilson will be .
For me its simple, di maria and falcao in and wilson to take over from rvp.
I think all them players are better than welbeck .

Redseven that's ridiculous, you can't compare them if Welbeck has played more games! Such a stupid thing to say, how do you know that any of our three strikers you stated wouldn't be on a higher goal tally if they had as many games as he's played?

By your logic, for arguments sake if Danny had scored more goals than Messi this season because he's had more games then Welbeck is the better player?

Agree0 Disagree0

Jred - With Wilson in the wings and ADM signed I completely agree.

I'm reserving judgement on RVP as he looked sharper last time out and should link better with class players. Danny is not as street smart or football smart as Rooney & RVP and with the class we have now that bodes well.

If ADM gets injured we are back to zero pace again though, that is my worry (Wilson won't get many games this season).

Agree0 Disagree0

Beast
Wilsons games may be limited this season but i think once we get a settled team and are playing well, he will get games.
Rvp for me is a class striker and you know what they say about class.
That said I've been saying for a while rvp may leave in the summer due to age and only having 1 year on his contract

Agree0 Disagree0

Ozwald. If you'd bothered to read my original post you would see that I was not comparing him to any of our strikers - merely pointing out that since the window closed he has outscored Rooney, RVP and Falcao. I'm not saying that makes him a better striker than any of them and only made the statement in regards to an earlier suggestion I'd made that he may well have outscored the aforementioned three players come the end of the season (again - I'm not suggesting that if this were to happen it would mean he was a better player).

With everyone complaining (including me) as why is not LVG screaming instructions from the touchline, I am coming to think he is training the players' brains exactly as he said he would be doing. He probably wants the players to understand the game better and execute his instructions without him interfering directly. And, he explains them post-match what they didn't do and were supposed to do. Considering this theory is right, its pretty much a risk, but guess the team will gain at the end of his 3 months 'trial'. The players will have learnt applying his techniques in the game without him reminding them from the touchline every now and then. His career suggests he loves screams and tussle at the sidelines. So, there must be some reason behind that he sits the whole 90 minutes. Maybe that is the one. However, I could be stupid too. ha ha

Believable5 Unbelievable0

I would much rather have the manager barking instructions. Also, we need him or Giggs on the touchline to shout at the refs and the 4th official. We've had more bad decisions against us this season than I can ever recall. If LvG or Giiggs are on the touchline, then they can give the refs and linesmen a bit of earache.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree nomidfield. I also think it will help the players as they can be guided as the game is going on, rather than making a mistake and then dreading the come back from the manager later. It will play on some of their minds and could lead to more mistakes and needless points being dropped.

I know I would be thinking "what will the gaffer think about this, should I be doing that or should I be doing this, I hope he didn't notice that", rather than being told there and then to adjust what I was doing - LVG is not helping his players if you ask me, especially as they are on this uphill learning course.

It's a tough love approach, but its foolish if you ask me. You need to be supporting the players and then driving things home after the game. Not stacking stuff up and hitting players like a bag of cement with things they hadn't even considered they may be doing wrong.

Just seen the Bitters crowd last night in the MEN, 37509, what happened to the other 8000? Perhaps there were road works on Stockport Road.😀

Change that to 18000 and its nearer reality. I saw a few online having a go at Rio from their sofas complaining lack of money. But Liverpool would have sold out. Everton too. I think Newcastle and maybe villa would also sell out European nights.

Saw it mate. He's got the touches and the passes. But he really needs to work on his tackle. He's already as good(bad) as scholes in that aspect.
Anyone else wanting to watch individual performances of the youth players can do so on a channel called corrigan 99 on YouTube.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Haha got it! He could have been sent off twice that game. To be honest he is better than that. Drifts in and out from games but is a real game changer. LVG really likes him I presume. Watch Sean Goss if you can. The best of the lot IMO, albeit younger.

Januzaj created and scored one in a 2-1 victory over Tottenham under 21s. Harrop looked good till he got injured. I really hope adnan gets his chance soon.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Mate, check out Adnan's goal. Also a few of Perreira's passes. On song Andreas is every bit as good as Adnan!

I am aware that you should not judge players on one game, however watching William Cavalho trying to protect his back four last night against Chelsea, I couldn't help thinking that a wheely bin would have been more effective.

Believable10 Unbelievable0

First time i've really watched him play . perhaps this was just a bad day at the office for him but he was truly shocking.
