Important match tomorrow, what do you guys think our strategy should be.
I hope we don't go with high pressing like last game, it leaves a lot of spaces behind because apparently our team has no idea how to play in such a way. And even if we win the ball our players won't be able to use it properly. They should watch videos of City and Pool players pressing. These 2 teams press in an organized way. They double up on players while other players block the open areas where he opposition player can pass. We on the other hand were pressing by man marking each players with one player which just lead to chaos defensively and offensively. Tomorrow we should try little pressing when off the ball while maintaining our defensive line because if we go behind and the other team just sits back for counter attack then I can't see us getting anything as our players are under a lot of pressure and low on confidence. We don't play that 1-2 on the edge of the box and lack creativity to actually penetrate their defence so that just leaves the option of crosses for which we don't have any players.

I think Burnley will sit in from the start so we will have to break them down. I would maybe play Pereira instead of Fred.

I was quite impressed with Fred last week, energy, looking forward, tried things. Much prefer him to any of our other midfielders. I'm surprised more people didn't see him as one of the few positives.

Fred looks good specially with his pace and dribbling, but there needs to be a better end product. I don't blame him entirely as we are missing team chemistry in our squad. There have been plenty of instances where the players don't have anyone to pass. One thing about Fred and Pogba is that they rarely passes back or sideways, but without proper support from the team just end up trying something flashy and losing the ball.

Not often I agree with you Beast, but I do here! We always seem to lack pace and energy, and Fred certainly afters that so I would definitely keep him in. I think he has looked very promising so far. We need that pace and energy if we are to increase the tempo of our play - which in my opinion we certainly need to do. We are far ok lethargic in getting the ball forwards from defence to our front players.

Totally agre3 with Beast. Fred looks a very good player and plays with a lot of passion.

Jred

I don’t understand how Pereira would improve us over the selection of Fred.

Overall, I think Burnley have had a difficult week in Europe and we need to play with the energy we saw in the first half against Spurs. Fred is part of that. Now the transfer window is closed Pogba has to show focus and commitment, starting tomorrow.

Freds been a great positive. I think he will go with near enough the same team as last week. Played well but lapses need to be cut out.

Fred would do better without Pogba imo. He slows it down too much and gets in the way.

In fact I'd love Pogba to be dropped for Pereira, never going to happen but the 'greatest manager in the EPL' would do it, lol.

I think we will play well as last
week but struggle to put away chances as for last couple of seasons.
I think we will win by a one goal margin, I hope for better.
I think it will be tougher than we would hope.

Fred gives you a lot of energy but against a Burnley side that I think will sit deep with 9 behind the ball i woukd go with a different type of player .

It’s interesting that we all see different things. I’ve not seen anything from Fred yet that has made me think he was a good buy. It’s early days and he needs to settle and may turn out to be a revelation, but as we’ve proved so often, we watch a game and end up with completely different views.

I don't believe Burnley will play defensive. The majority of teams have a go at us now! Nobody is frightened anymore!

I agree, Damon. I would consider Burnley to be a better team than Brighton, and they weren't exactly cowed by the thought of playing us.

Has anyone seen Dalot's debut for the u23s?
Him and Chong look a very tasty prospect down the right.

Missed it due to work, mate. Did Dalot manage the full 90 minutes?

01 Sep 2018 10:45:28
He managed about 80 minites and was good at crosses which we clearly lack in our play.

No, came off with 10 mins to go. Looked good though. He was cutting back on his left which worried me a bit then he whipped in a great cross with his right. Looks good with both feet and can beat a man. Very promising.

Dalot was wanted by Real Juventus Barcelona Psg and Chelsea . Just from watching him in the u23 I think Jose is right about him being best in Europe for his age -Tony V is toast 😆😆.
