haha love the way one of the posters brought up winning the charity shield as a trophy :) If you count that as a serious trophy mate, I really do feel sorry for you and your team. No chance of a trophy for you like i've said and just reminding you!

Brief summary of where both United and LFC are today.

United have not had a good season, of that there is no doubt. However their resilience in the league has seen them come away with some of the most unlikeliest of points. ( Chelsea ?) Their knowledge of how to grind out results is the yardstick that every team in the Prem are trying to achieve.

Personally I dont think United have had a strong team for the past few seasons, however the achievements say something different. Clearly they need to build a new generation squad, which has already started.

You may end up with nowt this season, but Im sure you wont give up easily. Has this season been a success for you? ....not in terms of achievements yet, but Fergie is laying the foundations for a good team for the future, with some real talent coming through. I would say it has been a success in terms of rebuilding a good squad.

Now to LFC: Considering the problems that have bedevilled our famous club in the last few years, we are delighted with the progress made in the last 12 months. We are not good enough to win the league at the moment, however 2 or 3 top signings could change all that. ( we live in hope of course).

Under Kennys guidance, the team have played really attractive football at times and there have been glimpses of a potential title winning team, however our home form and lack of goals has put paid to that. We have stood up well against most of the top teams but, were still not quite there yet. Still we are at Wembley next week, in the last 8 of the FA Cup and in with a good chance of reaching 4th spot. Is this success ? No but the supporters are happy that Kenny can build a strong squad, allied to some real class......that could just bring us NUMBER 19 next year...........

My nurse says that I must stop typing now cos they are just about to bring the soup and chocolate biscuits. Ive tried dunking the biscuits but Oxtail Soup and Cadburys fingers dont go together well....trust me chaps

ONLY £433 million pound in debt? get a life lads ...that is a HUGE debt....if not the biggest in Europe methinks ?

It is a huge debt Tel, but United are still in a much more healthy financial position than your Liverpool. Liverpool had £123m debt before the summer, and I believe that has increased to £200m after summer spending? We are in a better position than you.

I take it you are not aware of the £200m+ debt your club is currently in? The difference is our debt is falling, whereas your debt is increasing.

Interesting question would you rather sign someone like Gotze or Martinez and lose Pogba or keep Pogba and not sign a big name midfielder?

It is obvious that SAF will want to go out on a bang, win the League and Champions League again are certainly high on his to do list before he retires and probably another FA Cup. He will also want to leave a strong set of players.

Today he has once again said that he has two or three years left in him, so on that basis, do you think we will see more spending as he will want to go out on a high? Whilst spending does not guarantee success, a player like Modric and a few other top players would make success easier to come by.

So my two questions are:

- With SAF going to retire soon, do you think more spending is likely to get the success he wants?

- Will we get a non-British manager for the first time? (I think Pep and Mourinho make the shortlist).

seeing as we renamed the North Stand after Fergie anyone think we should think on renaming some of the others? i could see the South as the Sir Matt Busby Stand so our two greatest managers face each other. Any suggestion for the East Stand? Also i'd like to see a statue of the babes done, maybe based on the line up photo.

hyperthetically would you rather we buy an expensive cm like modric or sneidjer who would demand high wages or buy someone like eriksen who would be alot cheaper (wage wise) and keep scholes on for another year to help him settle/ adapt/ learn from the master?

i would opt for the later myself, but would be interesting to see what you all think we need, proven article or great potential?

Quote from SAF which suggests he's changed his mind about cutting all ties when he steps down as manager. Possibly as a charlton style embassador.
"I will remain active," he told the BBC. "I think there will be a role for me at United after I finish."
I think he will go next summer, mourinho coming in. It's a results business as SAF says and mourinho gets them wherever he goes.

The Liverpool fans on here make me laugh. They go on like they have won the f.a cup already lol yh there in the final of the league cup but didn't Birmingham win that last year against arsenals under 19s? They say there having a better season? That shows the difference in ambition and class between the 2 clubs. Were having a bad season, yet could stil win the league. There having a great season yet ther battling for 7th place, battling to get into a competition they ridicule us for being in? Liverpool wil do well to get past Stoke n then they wud av to beat spurs or Chelsea so I wudnt go celebrating just yet! Also they ridicule us for goin on bout winning the charity shield, wot they need to realise is that u av to win 1 of the the 2 top competitions in the country to get into it so it can't b that bad!!

It's funny how the papers suggest we have £30m to spend this summer, I imagine that is based on the fact we made a pretax profit of £30m last year. Now the papers are going with Wenger having £55m to spend, that wouldn't be because they made a pretax profit of £56m would it? Damn you have to laugh at lazy journalism.
