Hi all, reading below I agree that this site is about all views and the beast is a passionate Manchester united supporter I don't agree with nearly any of his posts or views, because, without saying Rome wasn't build in a day and patience is needed as the changes have been huge I like to look on the positive side.
1.we will start next season with the players in place to play a defined shape and style of play which will be very well coached and drilled.
2 he will know his players and will put a squad together that will ensure we don't have to play 352 or Rooney in midfield or Tony v at right back and that we will have at least 1 more footballing' midfielder, a really bright young attacking talent in depay . We will strengthen our central defence
3. Di Maria if he stays with us has to be and will be an awful lot better and will have a major influence in a 433 with lvg having to choose 2 from di Maria young depay Mata and adnan, (personally I would like to see adman loaned and bale in for di Maria ) every week.
4 shaw will also improve and we know blind is a very decent cover at lb
5 we can't possibly have a worse run of injuries
6 we will be playing CL football that inspires players to achieve more
7lvg has always delivered success, it will be up to those 'upstairs to identify the right time to replace him before the inevitable implosion but I can assure you that won't come before we are winners again.

Lvg had me near the beginning of the speech when he said "13 points from 10 games and still they (the fans) support me". I liked him at the beginning and I like him even more now. We are historically a club of characters humble or arrogant and we have another. I'm not a professional (in real life) but if I were, I would want to play for him.

It was the mk Dons result that I think LVG realised the fans contributions how special we are to the team

Anon, that was unbelievable support! On a night of embarrassment for the team, the fans were anything but that.

What a club we support.

Agree2 Disagree1

21 May 2015 08:40:48
No CTR, it shoukd be what a club the players play for and the manager manages. It is the fans that make this club so special, even Beast!

Agree3 Disagree1

21 May 2015 09:18:34
That is one thing about Manchester United which is amazing. The diversity of fans leads to so many opinions and ideas.

But despite all our differences in views, we all share the same passion for this club.

Sorry brendan lol.

I agree the players are lucky to have us.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 May 2015 21:18:12
As usual, there are a lot of different views today about how successful our season has been. There have been the usual moans from the usual people. Fair enough, we are all entitled to our opinions. And as they say, opinions vary.
But what gets me is this idea that, just because some of us accept that all our short coming are not just solely down to the manager, that some how translates into us thinking that we have been great and had a successful!season.
I am one of the more positive posters, granted. I do tend to stick up for the manager when he is constantly lambasted for our supposed under acheivement. But let me set the record straight. I do not think 4 the is a successful season. And frankly, I couldn't give a rats arse where Liverpool finish.
I just happen to think that all our troubles are not caused by this manager, or the last for that matter. Those who keep blaming everything on one person, LvG, are doing nothing if not accepting poor performances from several handsomely paid professionas.
I know some will argue that they are human, despite their wage packets, and that the manager is ultimately responsible.
But this idea that we have a hugely talented squad is, in my opinion, misguided.
If we are to genuinely return to the summit of domestic and European football, out best XI contains maybe 6 payers who are genuinely good enough.
DDG, Herrera, Mata, Rooney and Carrick are a given. DiMaria should be on that list, but has so far looked a £6million player rather than a £60m player. The same goes for Falcao.
RvP looks a shadow of the player he was.
Shaw will be a good player for us in the long term, but has had an inconsistent and injury plagued season.
Blind, Smalling, Young, Rojo and Fellaini will never be any more than squad players in genuinely top team, and even then that is being generous.
The rest I am afraid are simply not good enough. Especially the defence.
Any successful team is built on the string foundation of a solid back 4, or 5. We will not be able to properly judge this team until we have that. And I am sorry, but a defence that includes Rafael, Jones, Valencia or Evans will never be a solid one.
Maybe all those whom feel that our manager is not good enough should judge their over paid hero's by the same standards.
Until we have a squad of genuinely top players, we will not have a top team.

Believable4 Unbelievable7

I disagree Betty. I think we have one of the best squads in the league. If I was to create a PL 11 we wouldn't be short of players in that side. The problem with the manager is he is constantly making comments and then back tracking and has been all season.

We have been dull to watch this year and let's be honest we are lucky that Luis Suarez left Liverpool. As far as celebrating 4th place goes there are folk who have done and it's embarrassing really. At the start of the season most folk on here had us winning the league and now they are just happy to scrape 4th spot.

I hope we come good, I think we are capable of great things next year (as we were this year) but I just don't think we are going to be the success we can be under this manager. As you say people have different opinions and I'm happy to be proved wrong!

Agree0 Disagree2

{Ed025's Note - can you name me one who would get in that PL11 jmb?..because im struggling mate..

20 May 2015 22:17:53
betty
only chelsea are strong through out the first 11 , as long costa is fit .

rvp falcao rooney mata carrick di maria are all top players .
smalling has been one of the best cb in the league since xmas , i think shaw is the best lb in the league to be honest .

i agree you can't just blame the manager (unless his name is moyes ) although if some of the players who have underperformed had played to there potential and we had played some really good stuff he would of got all the credit.

also just because some people think the squad is capable of more doesn't make them doom and gloom.

i try to evaluate the performance of the team from the football we have produced and the standard of our play , instead of league postion .

i think league position says and depends to much about the teams around you.

we could end up 5th and play to the hight of our potential next season if there are 4 better teams in the league.

for me that would be better than 4th and playing imo beneath our potential

the problem is everyone seems to have an agenda , god forbid you want to talk football and give an honest opinion .

we all have pet hates and the double standards people have on moyes and lvg or rooney and any other player drives me round the bend .
but the sites for everyone and whos to say what's wrong or right , it you don't like a post ignore it.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - well said jred..fine post mate..

20 May 2015 22:25:46
Agree with the main points of your post, but I feel like it's a bit harsh to pass that sort of judgement on the likes of Young, who has just had a stellar season, Rojo who hasn't played too many games for us yet and his in his first season, and Fellaini who is unorthodox but at times unplayable. I feel like because of a perceived 'long ball' style of play when Fellaini is on the pitch, people tend to view him as central to a footballing digression, which is why so many people label him as an option and not a vital component. I think this is unfair, and just like Fellaini has been one of our most important players this season, he will be important in the next.

thats a good point i wonder what people would of said if our 60 mill signing di maria had played as well as young this season.

i think young has been one of the best wide men in the league this season.

ed 25
the best 11 would be 10 from chelsea and aguero .
the best 11 with out chelsea and i think united would get a few in there.

{Ed025's Note - i cant argue with the first bit jred, but a few may be stretching it a bit mate..

Agree0 Disagree0

it would depend if you went with form or reputation, a number of uniteds players have imo underperformed.

take chelsea away and i think you can make a case for ddg , smalling ,carrick herrera and young .maybe not a 100% pick but who would be, augero
sanchez can't think of that many more .

but rvp, mata , falcao ,rooney , di maria and shaw are imo all top players who if playing well would be there or there about . all have underperformed for various reasons .

so i think its potentially a good squad just like city and arsenal

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - wouldn't De Gea get in anyway? He has been the best goalkeeper in the Prem for me. Not sure how anyone could make a case for Smalling, sorry, I keep hearing he has improved, but he still looks a very poor defender being protected well in his 'good' games. Now Carrick, on the other hand, is an extremely underrated player and provided Smalling with great cover when he played. If he had been fit all season, United would not have struggled as much as they did. Herrera is excellent, I have always liked him as a player, more hustle and bustle than flicks and tricks, which goes against him when people are talking about best players. They will always pick a Silva or Cazorla over a Herrera, because they look better in highlights. Young has played well, but there is no way you could pick him over David Silva or Christian Eriksen, even Nacer Chadli has created and scored enough to make him a good option.}

21 May 2015 07:03:30
Jred so are excluding him from any blame?

Agree0 Disagree0

20 May 2015 23:10:42
Ed I think DDG, Herrera and Carrick would get into a PL 11. If certain players could play to their ability mkre often and get used the right way then Mata, Di Maria and Rooney wouldn't be far behind.

If we are talking about this season, Felliani has been a monster and is feared by most of the league, Young has been a breathe of fresh air and Smalling has shown he is cap of big things.

Jred - I agree with mostly every single thing you have posted mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - DDG would get in that second team jmb certainly, the others would struggle imo even though im a big carrick fan mate..

21 May 2015 08:14:44
chris
no ,moyes was part of the issue last year but there was a number reasons why we struggled last year.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 May 2015 08:15:09
Which centre mids other than fabregas and matic have been better than carrick this season, I can't think of many, so definitely a case carrick would get in.

Getting a bit bored of opposition fans slagging off Smalling when they clearly haven't seen enough of him, the United fans like him for a reason, we aren't scared to say when somebody has been poor, and 95% of united fans think Smalling looks like he could be fantastic and has been playing very well, I have liverpool fan mates who slag him off all the time and they just can't have seen him play enough / are judging him based on the odd poor performance / poor pass he makes.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I watch every single game in the Prem now, I am not slagging him off, he has just been poor. You can give all the crap you like about it being opposition fans, but he is not just having the odd poor performance, it is most of them without the protection of Carrick. He has improved, but he is still inconsistent beyond belief simply because he lacks the defensive positional sense to cope on a regular basis. He relies far too much on pace. I do feel he has suffered due to being played at right back and because of injuries, but I can't see him ever being good enough as he will get injured every time he does start to settle in to the team.}

21 May 2015 08:24:52
i think silva is a fantastic player but i'm not sure he has been amazing this year.
agureo and sanchez to and extent stand would get straight in but the rest would be debatable imo.

however on paper i think it would be a different story which shows how many of the big names have underperformed

Agree0 Disagree0

21 May 2015 08:52:23
But why have they underperfomered Jred? Why haven't we had a settled team all season (I'm sure to hear injuries excuse again)? Why hasn't a young potential star like Junuzaj had a chance to build on last seasons performances? When you ask the question why it comes back to the managers decisions.

Sometimes you just get an incline of when a manager isn't right for a club. I don't think we will be a success under LVG and that's my opinion and I have seen nothing to change it so far.

Agree0 Disagree1

21 May 2015 09:11:04

its hard to say from the outside although i think di maria and shaw have been handled badly .

there will probably be a number of reasons but the manager always tends to get the blame , you don't often see a player getting sacked.
but that's what comes with being a manager if the players where all playing out there skins he would be a genius .

its actually what i think was fergys biggest strength , he the best out of his team a bit like jose.

moyes got slated for taking over a title winning team but for me (as i argued at the time) that team was finished.
we have spent 250 mill since fergy left and probably need to spend another 250 which tells it own story.

i actually think on paper we have a much better squad now than we did under moyes maybe even than under fergy in the last year.

Agree0 Disagree0

yer ddg would get straight in.
i think smalling has played quite well since just after xmas he is showing signs he is finally starting to learn how to play football.
but how many really good cb are there in the EPL the 34 year old terry has been the best by a distance for me

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - and Koscielny has been good too, for me it would be him and Terry. Though I do take your point, there are not many that have stood out in a very poor league this season. Maybe the Southampton pair would have a good case to make the team as well? Fonte and Alderweireld have been excellent when able to be paired together. Other than that, you are really clutching at straws. I like Sakho for Liverpool, but he hasn't played enough to be even in consideration, and the rest of the defence are simply not good enough to be in there. Looking around the league, it is difficult to even come up with an argument for anyone else at all, the defences this season have, by and large, been truly abysmal.}

21 May 2015 09:22:42
But if adnan had been given chances u would be lamenting the fact that Mata is not playing etc jmb u can only fit 11 in a starting line up.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 May 2015 09:29:34
We have lots of players who , on paper , should be good enough. But the game is not played on paper. It is interesting that some of the people who are most critical of the manager are the same ones who most overstate how good our players are.

Its not all about "names" , its about having players who are genuinely good enough consistently , and who can stay fit long enough to make a real contribution throughout a season.

I think we mostly accept that DDG , Mata , Herrera , Carrick , Rooney , Shaw(when fit) and an on form DiMaria are good enough. That is 7 players.
If you add any 4 of Valencia , Jones , Evans , Rojo , Smalling , Young , Fellini etc , you have what we have seen this season. Not quite good enough.

If you replace those 4 with a quality RB , 2 top Central Defenders and another quality midfielder then we start to look like a proper team.

his is nothing new. We all know where we need to strengthen. But we need to accept that too many "starters" are not good enough. Some , like Young and Fellaini have had decent seasons and have earned a place in the squad , but we need better quality than that if we are to really challenge at the top.

I know it is a squad game , and in realty it is not all quite as straight forwards as what I have written above. But if we try to justify players as being good enough when they clearly aren't , then we really have lowered our standards to a level where we must accept that we are no longer going to challenge for the top honours in the game.

Agree1 Disagree0

21 May 2015 09:36:27

yer koscienly is a good player.
as a unit the southampton back 4 have played well in fact with forster ,schneiderlin and wanyama they are defensively very good.

how can english football be struggling for cbs, i thought it was the one thing we where good at

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - lack of decent coaches, there are so few coaches in English football.}

21 May 2015 09:57:20
betty
very few teams have 11 amazing players .
i don't think chelsea have infact i'm not sure any team have .

look at the difference 1 player can make suarez for liverpool , bale for spurs hazard chelsea.

the 7 players you mentioned plus some inform " squad players " and for me its a strong squad. i would also maybe add rvp as well.

just for argument sake ,if we don't try to justify players being in the team that we don't think are really good enough , should we not do the same with the manager.

i think lvg is a good manager i don't think he is a great one.
i think young is a good player i don't think he is a great one

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - just remember when United were winning trophies with the likes of O'Shea in the team. I doubt Ferguson ever had more than 7 players in his team that he would have considered good enough on this basis.}

21 May 2015 10:03:09
Dont worry guys if we win the league next year it will have been because we did something JMB said we needed to do. Leave it to the expert.

Agree2 Disagree1

21 May 2015 10:28:53
Jred , you that is a fair point. Like I said at the end of that post , its not quite that straight forwards in reality.
But I do still maintain that we have too many players that are not good enough. Cleverley and Welbeck (don't want to wind Beast up!!) were I the same bracket and were moved on. I just think there are another half dozen who need to be moved on too.

For me , the most important area to strengthen is the defence. I think a solid back 4 would allow the players in front of them to really express themselves. At the moment , I don't think the manager or the other players have total confidence in the defence. All to often we look restricted and hesitant in our play.

I know that is also down to the managers tactics. I just think with a solid defence , we cold be cut free from that leash and be a bit more positive going forwards.

Agree1 Disagree0

21 May 2015 10:40:48

we need a cb imo although we bought rojo for that role and a rb.

next season will tell us a lot .
personally i'm not really reading to much into us finishing 4th for various reason.(i think I've done them to death)
i hope will really kick on next season but i'm not overly confidant to be honest.
but fingers crossed

Agree0 Disagree0

21 May 2015 10:42:33
The worry is that our best players this season are the ones we want to relegate to fringe players next season. Young, Fellaini or Valencia have been outfield man of the match between them almost every game this season.

Maybe we should buy 6-8 players of their calibre for the other positions as LVG clearly has an ability to lift average players to very good, and lower very good players to average?

I know this sounds stupid, but some managers can specialise with certain types of players and we should maybe buy to LVG's strengths rather than media hype or those that get the fans excited?

Agree0 Disagree0

21 May 2015 11:55:15

Long time reader, first time poster.

With us almost certainly going in for a midfielder and names such as Gundogan being mentioned, I was wondering what you guys thought of Ross Barkley. I think he would fit nicely beside Herrera in the box to box role, is proven quality and is also quite young. I am sure he will be overpriced, but I was wondering if you guys though he would be worth a punt?

Replacing Carrick with a similar No. 6 is going to be difficult and may not happen this window. It is more likely that a DM will come into that role to protect the back 4. Keeping that in mind, I think Herrera and Barkley could work quite well together.

Believable1 Unbelievable2

20 May 2015 18:03:44
At the end of last season I would have said definitely, he has been a bit off this season, I think we could get better, we certainly need somebody more consistent.

Pjanic I like a lot, Modric as well(although I doubt Madrid will sell him).

Agree2 Disagree1

20 May 2015 18:25:18
I agree that Barkley has not had the best season. But many players playing in the premiership for the first time have a bad second season, especially the young ones. Januzaj is a prime example. There is no doubting that barkley has talent and the physique to cut it in the premier league. Consistency will come with age. The questions is whether we risk a foreign player or wait for Barkley to grow into what he can be?

Agree1 Disagree2

{Ed025's Note - grow into what he can be RLF?....at the moment that is the next jack rodwell mate!, promising so much but achieving very little im afraid..

Hi everyone!
Being cut off from the rest of the world for nearly a week, I just came to my home and am reading all these posts here.
Well !
I don't know if i should share it here but First let me pour my earthquake experience to my United buddies . I recently went to an earthquake effected place to provide shelter . Unfortunately in second day of my visit, I myself got trapped in huge 7.3 magnitude aftershock which nearly left me dead as i was in above 3000m height with a huge chance of landslide . Missed landslide by a second and am here living my second life . The earthquake has destroyed every house in those places with small kids being forced to live in open space with heavy rainfall not being a blessing . I could not supply tent to all victims so i was helpless . I literally cried seeing all my beloved people . People watching their home getting destroyed which they build by managing huge debts from banks do not know what to do anymore . Today i am posting here to all of you not for any donation but blessings . Please pray for my country .
P.S i am very happy about us qualifying for CL (though still a tricky qualifier is to be played) . Hoping to go through exciting transfer window . Further EdOO2 not being here is very sad as he was so insightful person with good heart . You deserve to take a break Ed but please return soon

To come to United, whether as a player, a manager, a director, a scout or a coach, winning has to be in your blood. It has to be your passion, and it has to be an expectation. Doing ones best is not enough, only being the best.

It starts with the scouting system - being able to recognize not just the raw talent but also the desire and determination - as LVG would say, the whole person. Then it's handed over to the coaches who have to instill the hunger, tactics, and attitudes which are characteristic of winners.

Mourinho has the gift. Wenger may have had it but seems to have lost it, having become a perennial second best manager. Moyes never had it and never will. Guardiola - I'd like to see him take on a club that wasn't already at the top of the game before pronouncing judgment. Anecelloti has it. Ferguson had it. Simeoni and Klopp?
LVG has had his moments and we can but hope he has his final one with us.

By Finishing third players will be more relaxed. New signings will also be more relaxed. But by finishing fourth we need to play CL qualifiers which require all the new players should be signed early, team can gel together and can be ready for very important games in early season which is not necessarily an advantage but an opportunity to change "Traditionally United are slow starters of the season". I not only look forward for next season, I eagerly await pre-season games.

Ed's I am hoping you let me share this with the rest of the guys. Early today Danny Pughnited posted something magical and here it is -

"Let me tell you a story, long long ago in a land far far away in the magical kingdom of Longsight a boy was born called Danny. Danny was strong and fast and brave, but a witch cursed him by taking away his balance and his ability to score goals on a regular basis. But Danny wasn't deterred and fought tooth and nail to become a knight at the theater of dreams in the kingdom of Trafford.

Although Danny was more of a squire than a real knight, he was happy for a time: polishing the armor, sharpening the weapons and cleaning out the stables. And Danny's pluck and moxy did not go unnoticed and he won admirers all across the land. Chief among his admirers was the angry Beast who loved Danny with all his heart and saw in him a true hero who could help Trafford recapture the chalice of Champions. Beast adorned his abode with opulent paintings of Danny and created a small shrine in his back garden. One day, Beast exclaimed, the world will see how truly great Danny is and a big parade will be held.

However, Danny soon grew tired of his role, and began to seek a true knight's role. Why should Sir Wayne and Sir Persie get all the glory, Danny moaned, am I not as great as they? But what of the curse, his friends pleaded? Scoff to the curse, Danny replied, I can be a great knight without balance or scoring prowess, just you wait and see! So Danny burst into the throne room of the new king Louis and demanded to be recognised as a real knight. The court laughed and wise king Louis banished poor Danny to the lesser kingdom of Emirates where Danny soon returned to his role of diligent squire to greater knights.

Beast, however, was despondent and vowed revenge on king Louis for banishing his Danny. He swore a blood oath and was transformed into a troll. He is now fastened to his fate of trolling king Louis every day, while weeping at the foot of his now obsolete shrine. Oh what a tragic tale is this."

This needs to be made into a real book!

Ed(s) , may I ask why Danny's post was taken down earlier? I know someone did respond negatively. I also responded , which wasn't posted , and the thread was then removed.

Just wanted to make sure it wasn't taken down because of my response? Apologies (and to Danny) in advance if it was for that reason.

Sorry if this sound a bit "its all about me" :) , I just wanted to check because I thought the OP was very funny , and that's what banter is all about.

hey

would just like to get people's opinion's on 3 things

1. in relation to lvg's comments about observing dvg over the last year and where he was at the start and where he is now and the improvement that he has made it just made me think about the player's we let leave on loan or sold

lvg only had a short period of time to assess his squad and also the fringe players ie zaha little pea etc. my question is was this enough time? if he was given more time with these players would he have got more out of them or turned them in to a good squad player that could do a job for us like he has done with fellini and young?

2 the goalkeeping situation. I find it a bit strange how people are willing to accept dvg leaving and saying that we will be ok if we promote youth etc? it took us how long to replace big pete so I don't think it is as easy as people think also goalkeepers now are not just shot stoppers etc but are there to set up an attacks etc from the ground and to me there is no 1 better in the world than picking out a pass as a goalkeeper than dvg that is why I don't think we should be thinking it will be easy to replace him.

3. if dvg does go what do people think of anders lingaard? to me he hasn't done much wrong when called upon over the last few years so if dvg does go why not let anders and valdes go head to head for the no 1 spot?

cheers folk's

ddg is our best player i think he will be a big loss to be honest.

Agree1 Disagree0

20 May 2015 19:07:23
Jock I think LVG kept the players who were willing to put in the work to improve, players like Zaha, Nani and not so much Hernandez but still are players notorious for their lack of effort. Young, Tony V and Fellaini were being hounded out last year but all always put in a shift no matter what, I think this is what LVG looked for most when he came in, those who were willing to work rather than those he saunter about but might come up with something brilliant once every 2/3 games

Agree1 Disagree0

20 May 2015 13:20:38
LVG showing his class lastnight. Didn't have to put DDG on the spot like that but it's great that he acknowledged his overall performance even with the impending transfer.

LVG is no easy person to get on with but he has galvanised the club and he knows how great an opportunity he has, I think that was evident.

It's not easy to celebrate 4th spot but I think he deserves credit where due, I don't think many managers could have shook it into the players we have at our disposal. Except our very own Sir Alex.

Succesful season? I'd say so. We was never going to jump from 7th to 1st in one season.

KC,

I don't think it has been a successful season, success for a club like United is at least 1 trophy, it is progress and it is satisfactory if you look at it from a long term point of view, as I think we will have success in the future, but this season for me is satisfactory and nothing more.

Agree1 Disagree1

20 May 2015 16:50:10
If we make it through the play-in round of the European Cup then it will have been a success from a financial point of view, but for a club like United coming 4th, getting knocked out of the League Cup early by MK Dons, and losing in the FA Cup to Arsenal, it can hardly be considered as any more than job done. Certainly an improvement and better than 7th under Moyes - it could have been so much worse.

So, I'm thankful it appears the ship has been righted, however, like any United fan, anything less than the best is not enough. Greed, hunger, passion - more, more, more - that's what should drive the club and the players. Which is why Moyes was a bad choice. Winning is not in his blood.

Agree1 Disagree0

20 May 2015 17:10:35
so moyes is the bench mark.

we are 5 points better of than last year in fact our points total this year would of seen us finish 6th last year.
but like i said before maybe its been harder to finish top 4 this year ? (i don't think so )

we have done slightly better this year after spending 150 mill than last year . although most people will agree last season was awful .

i think 4th place has papered over a number of issues .

last thing if we don't qualify for the CL has this still been a good season

Agree0 Disagree0

20 May 2015 17:59:01
Comparing points to other seasons is irrelevant, did we always win the league with a particular number of points? No. We got more than the others in that particular season and that's it. No two seasons are the same. This season we got enough to get us in the top four, an improvement in position on last season so simply looking at numbers of points saying where we would have finished is meaningless. It's like saying 82 points would win us the league in 1998 or whenever. It's a different season with different challenges. Five points better off? A decent manager better off than last season is more relevant.

as i said is moyes the bench mark now?

i honestly don't think we have been hugely better this season compared to what was a truly awful season .
but we have improved so let's all pat ourselves on the back .

we came 4th job done , behind city and co but ahead of a poor liverpool , fantastic lvg should maybe get a knighthood double all the players wages and give them a bonus .

coming 4th and judging our performance are 2 different things imo .

you don't want to compare points but you do want to compare league position , which is defined by points ?

it great we have got 4th but when you asses our performance over the season the money spent its pretty average imo.

but we improved on last season even if it has cost us 150 mil so job done

It would have been nice if the same mind-set had been applied to Moyes, you never know maybe with unwavering support he may have done better?

I would have loved to have seen the reaction on here if Moyes had done what LVG did last night!

Also Liverpool lost their best player and had Europe to contend with. We had a war chest, no Europe and no domestic cup run of note. 5 points extra is a poor return, 4th place is a poor return, the football we witnessed was abhorrent considering the talent we possess and the tradition/Philosophy of Man Utd.

Hope this doesn't constitute as trolling?

Beast ,

Moyes got a hell of a lot of support from the fans and let's not forget he took over the champions , but it was obvious in the end that he'd lost the players and was way out of his depth .We were getting absolutely walked over by Liverpool , City etc.
it has'nt been a bed of roses this season by any stretch of the imagination but the team spirit has obviously been much better , we've been more resilient and at least in that run of games a little while ago when everyone was fit there was signs of what LVG is trying to do.
The jury is still out but he's done enough in my opinion to deserve to continue his rebuilding , strengthen in the areas it's needed and we'll see next season

Agree0 Disagree0

20 May 2015 19:05:23
You know I would have thought from the moaning (usual suspects) we had finished 7th again.

I think I have written this before but 1st to 7th was a disgrace and we were never going to get back to 1st or even 2nd in one season after the devastation in confidence caused by the errors of the transition. 4th is nothing to celebrate but it is a definite step upwards.

Moyes lost the dressing room, the fans and the board so I have to say the idea from Beast that with our "unwavering support" Moyes might have done better is laughable. A bit more clapping and singing was the answer, perhaps round the campfire would have done it.

For those who look down their noses at 4th, I suggest they have short SAF sized memories.

Yes Jred, the club is bigger than the manager and too big for some managers.

The players read newspapers hear fans booing their manager and the foot comes off the gas, especially if they are not keen on him, people look to blame everyone but themselves especially underperforming superstars. It's naïve to think that had Moyes enjoyed the unwavering support LVG gets for even more boring football that the team wouldn't have done better. Every long ball was met by a jeer last season, this season we have been praising it because Fellaini was "allowed" to play!

It's all interconnected. I am talking specifically about the points tally though, I think if LVG had the same fan reactions to rubbish football and same fixtures as Moyes minus £150m we would be lucky to be top half this season.

Sorry but the football and results especially against the top opposition has been better this season. Perhaps you should consider why the fans have reacted differently this season.

One point people may not have picked up was that before the warm up at the Arsenal game on Sunday LVG went around the crowd in sections at the edge of the pitch and was signing autographs and doing selfies, close up, the fans reacted really well and it was a popular touch. There is a big difference from the previous season.

the football has really been a huge improvement tho.
the start of the season was the worse in years .

as for results we are 5 points better off that's all.

also lvg talking to fans your starting to sound like beast .

remember tho its a team game your back to lvg is better than moyes again.

Why shouldn't I take a different view of different managers? I say what I see and what I thought about Moyes was replicated eventually by the board, he got the sack which proved he wasn't up to it. I couldn't care about being right because the pain the error to appoint him caused to all of us ran very deep.

I think it is more that the Beast cabal are still trying to talk down LVG whilst the fans generally recognise that we have improved this season. We may not be where we want to be but most recognise we have taken a step forward.

Real want the move and Mendes wants the move. History has taught us that when this is the case, the transfer happens.

To be honest, at this stage I think it's better to just sell. De Gea is going to leave at some stage, this summer, next or the one after that. There is no point having this uncertainty hanging over us every pre-season. The extra money we will make on the transfer if he signs a new contract will be eaten by his massive wages, so it isn't even much of a financial boost if we keep him an extra year or two.

De Gea is a top class keeper. But he will return to Spain, and not just at the end of his career. We need to just take it on the chin and make sure that we have a worthy replacement lined up.

If anybody watched the Awards Ceremony last night, how funny was LVG's speech?

I know he has made some funny decisions this season, but from the slightly drunk speech he did, he had shown that he is the perfect fit for Manchester United.

He oozes confidence and arrogance, which is what we need as a manager. It wasn't "If we win a trophy" it was "When we win a trophy". A huge improvement on Moyes IMO who wasn't ever going to be ready for that role.

I'm hoping he is ruthless this summer and sells the players not pulling their weight, replacing them with much hungrier lads, I feel very confident about next season now, with or without big Dave.

Come on Beast! He isn't the best manager ever, but he is in the process of putting together a very good team/squad, on which our future will be built for a new manager to take over. Who would you have wanted last season instead? Klopp who's done well and not so well at one club, Pep who has got lucky twice as manager but who has never had to do what LVG is doing, Ancelotti who had no interest I'm sure on the back of a CL win, Mourinho again not interested, Blanc still not proven enough for me, Giggs? Let's not go there. He has steadied and improved us and next season will be a lot better again.
