During a week where United have shown there class by rembering the victims of Hillsboro it is astonishing that a former Liverpool captain can sit on MOTD and say that Suarez hasn't hurt anyone. Hansen has made a fool of himself by trying to trivialise a professional footballer biting another. Ivanovic was hurt for a start! The thing that is most galling is that the same pundit defended rascism, defended Suarez' refusal to apologise and defended his refusal to shake Evras hand. Suarez has history, his handball in the second half would point to that of a serial cheat. Add Ghana in the World Cup, biting Bakkal and you wonder what he has to do to feel the wrath of some ex Liverpool players. Souness could teach his former colleague a lesson or two. Cantona kicked a fan and rightly paid the price for that. He was provoked, that's not an excuse but an explanation. Suarez and Ivanovic hadn't had a altercation beforehand, you can see from his face that Suarez completely lost the plot. It would be one hell of an embarrassment if he wins player of the year! Despite being Uniteds main rival, Liverpool are a proper club with a great history and countless world class players have pulled on their shirt. I wonder what Bill Shankley would do with someone like Suarez. The FA must surely hand out a lengthily ban and a massive fan. They failed to act when he has blatantly unrepentant in numerous interviews after he served his rascism ban, he recently said he would do all he could to win, he would dive, cheat and have no conscious. I remember a certain captain being banned for suggesting he intentionally injured a fellow pro! Let's see what excuse those lovely Liverpool fans make for Suarez now. Perhaps biting is a sign of love and affection in Uruguay!

Big G {Ed002's Note - The point must be that before the sentence is passed things must be allowed to settle, be considered and then allowed to run their course. Suarez is a very good footballer but also a dumb jerk. None of this is anything to do with Canotona or Manchester United.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

My point about Cantona was that United acted swiftly and issued him with a fine and ban which the FA then added to. When the dust settles the evidence is there for all to see the sort of man Suarez is. I'm a very good decorator but if I go and bite my clients in the morning I won't be given time to let things settle. Cantona and his Kung fu will be brought up by countless Liverpool fans in the days ahead thus making the issue relevant to both United and Cantona!

Big G

Agree0 Disagree0

The point is Big G that Manchester Utd are no better (or worse) for defending a players (or players) for doing disgusting things, on the pitch or in theie private lives. Its just mud slinging. Suarez will be fined and banned and that is the end of it. Football and a lot of footballers think they are above rebuke. They certainly are not some one you would have your children look up to.

The Irish Rover

Agree0 Disagree0

Irish rover I completely agree. Football needs to take a serious look at what goes on. Post match Rodgers refused to comment and Benitez wouldn't either as he wants to be loved by Liverpool fans. I have a 6 yo daughter who was able to tell me that biting is wrong. Ex players and staff refuse to take a stand for what is right, particularly if it involves their own team. I was gutted when Giggs was revealed as a serial cheat, Tiger Woods the same. Sport in general needs to eradicate this thuggish and morally wrong behaviour.

As much funny it is to see about Suarez, going back to our club. What do you guys think of giving players like Tunnicliffe, Buttner, Cleverley, Ando, Januzaj, Powell and can we actually call Henriquez back (?). Or do you guys here think that we should aim for the 96 points so that we can break the Chelsea's record!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I would think long term and blood our youngsters as it will be more beneficial to the club.

Mad Hatter

Agree0 Disagree0

As much as I'd like to beat Chelsea's record, I am doubtful we would. We haven't stormed games as we should this season so I reckons some of the squad who could do with more game time Aswell as some reserves and youth should get some games. The likes of linderguard, Amos, vermijl, smalling, jones, Thorpe, buttner, maybe bring fabio back, cleverly, Anderson, tunnicliffe, Powell, Cole, lingard, welbeck, Chica, van velzen, nani, bring henquriez back, will keane etc etc

19JackC94

Agree0 Disagree0

Assuming we beat Villa tonight the only game that really matters this season form that point on is Chelsea at home. IF Spurs (and Arsenal) can beat them to a top four finish they will be out of next seasons CL and hence will find it much more difficult to persuade various mercenaries to move there, no matter what they pay them. This will then put us in a much stronger position next year.

Hi not much of a rumour, just an observation, looking through the annual Sunday Times Rich List.

Coleen Rooney features on her own in the under 30s list, but no sign of her husband, maybe an oversight by the writers, unless they know something we don't.

Earning 250k a week it's hard to imagine he's lost it all, but with no other income from sponsors other than Nike and previous rumours of gambling problems, could be something in this.

Tomorrow we can hopefully win our 20th league title!

Wow that is an achievement and this has really refreshed my memory about how much this club has gone through and the success we have got over the last 20 years.

Us United fans have been spoiled and as I am greedy I want this to never end. ;)

But many may say we have declined over the years and our team hasn't been as dominant in the last few years but we are still fighting and always up there.

I am so proud to be born into supporting this club and once the whistle blows tomorrow and we hopefully have won the game the celebrations within the stadium, city, country and world will be beautiful in my eyes.

I can see the great Sir Alex going full force tomorrow to get the win.

And boy, oh boy will it be exciting to see the likes of Van Persie, Rooney, Vidic, Ferdinand, Carrick, De Gea and the rest celebrating around the stadium.

To top it off a medal of honor would be given at the emirates? If I am not mistaken.

Should wrap up our 20th title tommorrow, start of season we would have all settled for that!
Just think what the season might have brought if we had wingers who could beat a man and cross the ball and score a few goals.
Add that and a quality CM and next year we should be fighting for CL trophy.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

21 Apr 2013 20:09:05
Interesting season yet with lots of twists. Hopefully we wrap up things tomm, however what is quite interesting is that how we decide to play the last 4 games will have a major impact on the outcome of the top 4.

I reckon if we beat Arsenal or Chelsea either team will be in trouble and Spurs should lock in one of the spots. If Spurs beat wig a away next week, Chelsea could miss out if we beat them at OT.

In a strange way, the Suarez incident today might just seal Lewandowski's move to Man Utd.

It's no secret that Bayern have targetted Suarez, and this could be the catalyst that;

1. Persuades Liverpool to sell their best asset.
2. Forces Suarez to leave and find a new home.

As a result, the path is made clearer for United to wrap up Lewandowski.

WF Red Devil.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Or the Germans may say that they want nothing to do with a "man" who has been caught biting an opponent for the 2nd time.

One of our strikers will be on the move, I also think Nani & Anderson will get moved on.

Shahram

Agree0 Disagree0

Reece Brown & Luke Giverin may well depart. Veseli, Lingard & Vermijl may get another year?

Agree0 Disagree0

I think we know who from the first team is likely to leave, but I think that this a pretty good question. I would say that Bebe, Macheda and Wooton will leave as you have said. Not sure about Vermijl, not sure where he stands. I fancy that we might give up on Petrucci & McGinty has got in trouble again so he might be moved on. The rest like the Keane's, Lindgard, Tunnicliffe will be loaned out. I would of said Amos might go, however I think Lindegaard will leave and he and Johnstone will be promoted. Would be good to bring through one of our own keepers again like we did with Foster.

Today saf spoke of bayerns interest in lewy and said he may join them because of strikersat his disposal. I will definatly prefer him over hernandez and welback. And even above rooney looking at his current form ( I m a huge rooney fan) but I think considering improvment of team quality, we should go hard to win his signature. Because I fear if its not for rvp this season we would have struggled.

Further to add. saf said team need very little touching. But all we know. We need 2 midfielders. One left back and if possible a regular center back who can impose himself like vidic.
So that's quite worrying sentence used by him. I know he won't say we need this and that. but we all fear his no value in the market stuff.

The comparison with Carrick was generous, but to compare Cleverley to Scholes is ridiculous. I'm fairly ambivalent about Cleverley, he has done nothing of note so far and he may or may not go on to have a long career, I hope he does. But it is comparisons to Scholes and the dissing of players like Phil Neville that hacks me off. Love Cleverly if you but stop with the fawning admiration. He is yet to earn it

Rooney is a striker, that is GIS most favoured position, my point is that vidic can't play cf, rvp can't play as cm etc etc, why do people expect Rooney to play where ever fergie asks hom because of what he gets paid, its ridiculous, he is a great player, maybe not world class but he puts in a shift wherever he's told to play and that has to be respected, maybe utd fans should start supporting their players instead of putting them down every poor performance, sorry about the rant but the people that want him sold beware you will regret it, again thanks for the amazing site

Did nobody see the article in the mail a couple of weeks ago that identified Cleverley as the player with the highest win rate in the premier league EVER.

His win rate is 87%.

I find the bitching and comparisons with Phil Neville rediculous.

It simply cannot be a coincidence that we have won so many games, and that he continues to be picked for united and England.

For me the comparisons with Carrick are correct. They are similar in that they both to about their work in an understated way whilst having a huge impact in the games they play. Carrick is underrated by many because he doesn't stand out, but lauded by a few few because he has always been massively effective.

You can call Cleverley a poor mans Wilshere but where are Arsenal in the league?

People can say what is it that Cleverley is good at, the answer is that be is good at winning games.

I also thinking there is a comparison to be made with scholes, who is celebrated as the greatest midfielder of his generation now but that wasn't the case during his career. Remember him having to play on the left wing for England?

I think that people should look at our win rate, our position in the league and the number of appearances that Cleverley has made this year and recognise that as nothing short of phenomenal for a young English midfielder in what is actually his first proper season on the side.

Lies, damn lies and statistics

The Cleverley that Ginja Ninja describes is not the one I have seen on the pitch. Decent player, passes safe but lacks influence defensively, physically and in goal scoring terms as well. Good squad player but is not at a level that would or should get him in our team as first choice. Would he really get in as first choice in any of the other competing teams to us either in England or Europe?
Give me Wilshire any day
He doesn't compare with Scholes, as the song goes he scores goals and unlike Cleverley can or could pass more than 10 yards. At Cleverleys age he should be more established but isn't. To me the comparison should be to Kagawa yet Kagawa is a far better player and will almost certainly play more than Cleverley.

There is a strong tendency on here to overrate our players and Cleverley is the one getting it at the moment. We should accept he is a decent player but no world beater. It all comes down to ambition, if we want to be in finals in Europe and at home we need top quality and we don't have it at the moment in several areas, sadly Tom isn't the answer.

There seems to be this huge hang up with Cleverley due to his age. He has spent the best part of THREE years out injured since he was 17. that's three years of development he has missed. If he was 20 atm would people be writing him off? Because he is at the same stage as most 20 year olds are in terms of his development.

For gods sake give the lad a chance.

I think Cleverley is a very good player. He will be a very important player for us in a season or two.
With the likes of Kagawa, RVP in the team now, I guess Cleverley would be more effective in the coming seasons.

Comparing cleverley to scholes! Scholes could pass forward, long, short, first touch, score goals. There simply is no comparison. Cleverley passes sideways then holds his arms down requesting the ball to be passed back to him, what is the point of that? He hardly ever picks a killer pass, in fact, I can't remember one this year?
As I said yesterday, will any of city, Chelsea, arsenal or spurs want him in their midfield? There goes your answer. He is an average player and that's that.

The lad has every chance, if he is good enough. Whatever is said on here is opinion but doesn't make any difference to team selection. Sorry but I won't be brow beaten into saying he is good enough to be a world beater if I don't think he is or will be one. He is a United player and gets my support but I don't see him playing a major key role in the biggest games.
If we want to be at the top we have to have top players in key positions, midfield being one and Tom is a decent player but not top level.

The age thing is to a point irrelevant but he has not yet displayed the level of talent needed to take charge of our midfield whether he be 23 or 20 His impact is not there nor was it there when he played for other teams on loan. Good decent performances but not ones that make him desirable to other big clubs. It is all about opinions but when we need a defining midfield player most Cleverley is too tired or jaded to be it. How old was Keane when he arrived here? 22, and when did he not play because he was jaded? We need a Keane now not a Cleverley and Tom can't play that role. I appreciate Cleverley for his industry but the quality just isn't there in a sufficient level.

Red Man there's also a massive tendency to under value our players. Look at fletcher, evans etc. I guess it goes back to cows in fields. NoMidfield as someone pointed out yesterday how many of city or chelsea's midfield would get in the real, bayern or barca teams? Not many. Cleverley would certainly get into spurs side. He'd get games at arsenal as he's a type of player they need and he plays well with wilshire. I also rate him higher than barry and milner and rodwell so think he'd have a chance at city. Like it or not he's a united player and will be for several years. He's certainly a handy option for the squad. I think if you want to go and abuse players in the squad then there are bigger targets sat there on bigger wages doing less than cleverley. MrE

Stats says that when mr. Lulu is in the stadium, united win all the games.
So I think if possible we should play him being lucky mascot.

Stats never reveal anything in real. Wake up.
