Good to see spurs lose today. If we win tomorrow we will be 6 points behind them. Anyone think we could overtake them to achieve 3rd place?

I think with 12 games to go and 36 points to play for there's every chance we could do it and it would be something we'll worth going for. Automatic qualification for the CL plus the sense of belief I think it would give the squad for next season.

It's Tottenham lads! And I think there's every chance they could have a wobble.

We win tomorrow the titles on.

Some Ole hit his run I’ve thought we will finish 3rd.

Let's hope so manc man. Bit early for poch to concede defeat. At worst they will be 8 points back with 11 games to go at best only 5.
I think all epl teams are automatic again this season.
But i'd like to think we can catch spurs. A win tomorrow and they will be looking over their shoulder. The have chelsea and arsenal in their next 2 games. i'm sort of hoping they draw both.

Are Tottenham about to have their predictable wobble?

Can Pochettino change their mentality?

If not is that down to him or are the club so entrenched in failure no one can pull them out of it?

4th is automatic qualification now.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Feb 2019 00:17:38
There is no qualification next year, 3rd and 4th both go straight into the champions league. But yes, I think we can catch them if we win tomorrow.

I don't think its a meltdown or a collapse. They just didn't play well today. The pitch was poor and burnely got right in their faces and out muscled them.

If we win tomorrow then they are still only 5 points back. They play chelsea on wed and arsenal on sat so we will know more after those 2 games. If they win those and are still only 5 points back at the worst they will be in great shape with 9 games to play including city and liverpool.

I would like to see spurs draw both of those games bringing them hopfully closer to us, while taking points from both chelsea and arsenal, We play palace and southampton.
A win for us tomorrow keeps it a 3 h horse race and spurs will be black in the hunt.

At the moment i see us in a 3 team race for 4th. A spurs collapse could make it a 4 team race for 2 spots.
This is Ole's biggest game. His biggest test yet. Most of our players are in very good form. Confidence is high.
Liverpool pose a massive test. Their front 3 keep delivering and they have been much better as a defensive unit and they are super fit.
I think the team that keeps their cool will come out on top.

This is why I don't want Poch. He's too negative and spurs have a mental fragility about them. Is it an institutional club thing based on years of being also rans or does some of that cone from the manager. Whilst you can argue its a club thing I think a lot of it comes from the manager.

Can see why he’s the perfect Jose player. Works hard defensively, and mostly takes the safe option in possession. That 4% stat is appalling for a winger.

{Ed001's Note - I was shocked by it to be honest. I knew he struggled with his crossing but never knew it was that bad.}

CHEATarito.
The question i'd like to ask all is
Do you think he should have owned up and told the ref he punched it in?

It doesn't sit well with me that a player deliberately cheats the ref and his opponents.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

23 Feb 2019 08:38:16
Yes. Without question. I’d feel empty if United beat Liverpool by such a goal tomorrow. What’s the point of sport at all if cheating (gamesmanship, spin it however you want) determines the outcome?

Most importantly the joy of winning is destroyed by the guilt of knowing in your own heart and soul that it wasn’t just. Especially against your most bitter of rivals.

Agree1 Disagree0

23 Feb 2019 09:43:48
I don’t agree with it but such is the pressure put on managers by their own fans and media, Pellegrini will be happy he didn’t own up to it.

Maybe if there wasn’t a new witch hunt every other week (Sarri’s turn now), there would be less pressure and therefore less cheating, particularly diving to win penalties.

Which also begs the question. How is a player putting the ball in with his hand any different to a penalty scored as a result of a dive?

OK we are playing Liverpool last game of the season, if Liverpool win they win the league, now if you were playing for united and the last minute de gea goes awol, your the last man back the only way you can stop the Liverpool player is to take him out cause he is heading in for an open goal, what do you do.
Do you take him out or let him score.
I know what I would do I'd poleaxe him👍.

Honour, integrity, and even basic fair play seem to take a back seat nowadays. You get booked for taking your shirt off but you can scream at a linesman, waste time, foul, pretty much anything you can get away with.

I remember everyone lauding Fowler for telling the ref it wasn’t a penalty, but the ref gave a penalty, and Fowler then took it (it was saved but the rebound was put in) . If Fowler was so honourable he’d have rolled it gently to the goalie but if he had his team mates, Manager, and fans would have slaughtered him.

Footballers push things as far as they can. You have the extremes of biting, diving, and goals scored with hands but what about the other end of the scale. Ashley Young is a great example of how to move a throw in 15 yards further up the pitch, every team does it. When taking a corner players place the ball outside the quadrant, as if that extra half an inch will make a difference. Falling over theatrically when a player so much as breathes on you. Wagging fingers at linesmen, swearing at them. I think footballers need taking down a peg or 2, it would be carnage initially but once everyone got use to stricter rules we might see some of this nonsense stop.

Of course mate. not looking for perfection just don't think its showing any respect for refs opponents fans etc to cheat as blatantly as that.

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Feb 2019 15:02:08
exacty james, ajh there was never much of honor integrity or fair play in football or life for that matter its just something old people seem to think. People have always cheated to get ahead will keep doing so until extinction.

Maradona goal, the schumacher tackle, the world cup final ghost goal, none of these happened recently.

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Feb 2019 17:46:26
I agree csm but i believe it will only take one or 2 players to own up and it will begin to be the norm. We are all happy to critisise refs when they call it wrong but it goes to show what little chance they have when players are willing to try and cheat them at every opportunity.

The racist chanting is getting out of hand and stewards are neither use nor ornament, it amazes me what people will say in a football ground that they wouldn't say anywhere else.

Our club asked fans to stop singing a song about Lukakus manhood yet they remain silent about the chants about Hillsborough. They'll be sung tomorrow, and it won't be a handful of people, it will be thousands. It's about time the club stood up and said it's not acceptable and people will be ejected.

Agree7 Disagree0

23 Feb 2019 10:45:23
Tbf to the clubs when it comes to that chanting about hillsborough or munich or any tragic disaster which are usually done by huge crowds of people. How do you eject that many people during the game without causing even more potentially ugly scenes?

Surely it should be taken out of the clubs hands and the premier league or fa should step in and hand out the punishments. An X game ban behind closed doors should incentivise the club to do something about it.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - it is sad that we even have to ask this question about how to deal with these things. First thing is we need to work on educating people, because you aren't born wanting to sing sick songs, it is something you learn.}

23 Feb 2019 11:12:00
I remember years ago when some idiot in the Stretford End tried to chant about Hillsborough and he was told to STFU by everyone. Now there are people chanting about it who didn't witness it at the time but that doesn't make it right.

I'd like to think United fans are better than that but it seems not.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - society is not better than that sadly. Forest fans still regularly spout abuse about Hillsborough due to pure hatred. It is sad that many Liverpool and other fans think it is ok to chant about Munich. Most Liverpool fans don't even know the Matt Busby was a Liverpool legend!}
