ed007 you posted earlier that you'd give the no.7 to hazard or sanchez.so you think we're still in for sanchez?

@@ Mumbai Boy.

I think AVB will be another in the line of merry go round managers at SB. Ancelotti won the double, then was a fair bit ahead and playing well late last year and after a blip in form that was in the end recoverded to still challenge for the title he still gets the boot. There is no accounting for the amount of player power in that camp and basically they wont have proper stability again untill Jose goes back.

He may well be successful in his first year but that hasnt stopped an experienced manager getting the sack so i have no doubt it wont change for him.

@@ RFT.

Great post about Jack. Good to see all kinds of fans bypassing the fact he supports us and keeping the support for him up.

Ed what number do you think Ashley Young will get? I say kick Owen off the number 7... {Ed007's Note - I have absolutely no idea, I would give the number 7 to Hazard or Sanchez :-)

Can I just say another thing about Young? Young has averaged 36 PL games a season since he joined Villa. Now that is a decent fitness record all will agree on?

how much was ashely young???
It says undisclosed why???

does it matter - last week we were talking about sanchez and schneider and then we sign young - not overjoyed with that - no in between with him, either brilliant or absolutely awful - seems to play one game in four, not good enough for us so whatever he cost is a waste - should have held out for better - average player at best because of his inconsistency

"how much was ashely young???

@Watford have said that they have been told to expect around £2m from the Young deal. They are entitled to 15% of the fee. So it seems the fee is between £14m-£15m.

I heard the fee was £14.5m and I heard that a couple of days ago. But I guess we won't know for sure until the end of year finances are released in early October.

we don't need sanchez unless we are selling nani which i hope not as it has taken 3 years to improve him, so why sell him now and have to start all over again.i don't think sanchez is all that people think he is and i don't think barca ever wanted him, i think they may be using him to get fab to do most the pushing to get him out of arsenal.we have signed 3 really good players and i think young will be world class at end of next season.remember we won prem quite easy in the end and strolled to champ league final but were well beaten by MESSI not barca.they have other great players as do we, but we completely got it wrong wit MESSI.i'v watched game 6 times since and i still believe we were beaten before we even stood on the pitch.our defending was shocking and as good as VDS is he was bad for 2 of the goals as was VIDIC & EVRA.in midfield PARK & VALENCIA didn't play the way they can and still think VALENCIA was lucky not to see red and HERNADEZ had a stinker and prob would have been better wit BERBA.now i'm not been all negative i'm just saying we don't need all these players like sanchez/sneijder/pastore there all mercenaires and not worth the money.we do need a CAM but i'd prefer to see someone that will want to prove something and not just how much money.we have a great team and we have great players all we need is to believe we can beat barca and not center our whole game around messi

Just back from the south of France and guess who i bumped into?yes SAF himself. I bought him a nice bottle of red and in return he told me some inside knowledge regarding transfers. Ok so here it is!!

Sanchez will not be signing. He has his heart set on Barca plus they are looking for 40 mill for him.
Inter are looking to swap sneijder with Tevez, straight swap.
Spurs do not want to sell Modric plus we don't want to get into a bidding war with Chelsea.
Nasri was never intersted in signing for us.

As a result we will have to wait till next year before signing a quality centre midfielder.Pogba and Morrison will be given a chance for now.

De Gea will sign next month but thats all.
Gibson, Brown and Oberton will be allowed to leave.

Now you all know!!

Young is only a good signing if he is not a direct replacement for Nani. Nani is a better player than Young.

Ed??

{Ed019's Note - I think Nani is the better player, however I think Young is more consistent and with better players around him could become a serious player. I see no reason why Nani and Young can't play in the same team.}

£15m for a 25 year old (Homegrown) Englishman, that can play LW, RW, CAM or as a supporting striker is money well spent IMO. I can understand people are worried thinking that he is here to replace Nani, but you are wrong. United are looking at bringing in another winger as well as Young.

De Gea & Jones being 20 & 19 respectively have also been top quality signings. Smalling & Jones being the future United & England CB's, in the meantime Jones can fill in for Vidic on occasions whilst playing in midfield too. United have also nearly signed four Italian teenagers, two of which are GK's. So we will have another strong U18's squad again next season.

young is on £75k a week which i think is good because hes English and we need more English players for the English player rule, however i think that united will not sign another player as i think it will be like this

1. de gea.

rafael, vidic/smalling rio/jones evra

valencia/nani anderson cleverly young

hernandez rooney

what do you think ed? first time poster by the way :D {Ed012's Note - Definitely a very good team but primarily a very strong squad. I think that's our biggest asset over the course of the season, as we have 20 players who are all more than capable of performing at the required PL Champions level. Nonetheless, doesn't mean we have 11 players capable of reaching Barcelona's level...}

"La Gazzetta dello Sport confirm #MUFC are set to sign Gollini, Lezzerini, Madrigali and Capezzi from Fiorentina's U16s to join our U18s"

"I don't know if it's Xavier or Saverio Madrigali that we're interested in. The twins have both been called up at U16 level for Italy"

"Leonardo Capezzi has only recently turned 16 and is I believe, their star midfielder. He's already been capped at U17 level"

"Luca Lezzerini is a goalkeeper who has also recently turned 16; he too has been capped at U17 level"

"Pierluigi Gollini is a goalkeeper; I don't know if he's been capped but AC Milan and Juventus have also both been interested in him"

Now Young has signed there will be no Sanchez. 1 more signing for us and thats De Gea. Waiting for July 1st so we can get the deal done and dusted. I'm thinking United will play a 4-1-2-1-2 formation next season. Rafael, Rio, Vidic, Evra the back 4. Defensive midfielder to be Jones. 2 wingers being Nani and Valencia. 1 attacking midfielder being Young and the 2 strikers... Rooney and Hernandez.

Then in January depending on form... Either Nani or Valencia to be sold, Young to move into the position of the winger departing and Sneijder to arrive and play the attacking midfielder position?

does anyone see us selling valencia, with all this nani sale talk. why not valencia, he's ok but thats it.

Are you for real my friend. Ask every utd fan what was the reason we won the record No 19 title. It wasn't rooney, it wasn't the defence, it wasn't even chica, it was the return of Toni back from injury

although many people said we are linked with hazard the fact is that he is staying at lille for another season. varane looks to be going to real and modric is either going to stay or go to chelsea.

so the only possible signing now are snjeider which is unlikely, nasri could if wenger doesnt sign anyone and lassana diarra has been told he can talk with united so he might be heading our way.

young, de gea and jones are excellent signing and i can't wait to see us next season!

People really need to stop posting about Rooney playing in the 'Scholes' role. He is a striker! and that's what position he will be playing as next season. Maybe in a few years when/if he loses his explosive pace.

We are all guilty on this site of moaning and complaining because we haven't bought this player or that player and in my case because some American Leaches own our club. but please read this and lets put things back into perspective:

Little Jack Marshall is lying in his bed in the front room of his parents' house.

His head is resting on a Manchester United pillow case. He is wearing his Manchester United shirt.

A giant United flag covers the wall behind him. His mum and dad put it up for the Champions League final last month and they have not been able to bring themselves to take it down.

Jack is five years old but because of the severity of the treatment he has endured for the cancer that is killing him, he can only speak in a whisper.

So when I ask him who his favourite player is, I can see his eyes sparkle but I have to kneel beside him to hear his answer.

"Rooney, " he says. "When I met him, I told him he was the best player in the world. And I asked if I could give him a kiss."

Rooney bowed his head low that day a few weeks ago at United's Carrington training ground so that the brave little boy's wish could be granted.

But then football has brought Jack joy throughout his short life. It fills many of his family's happiest memories of him.

He learned to walk by kicking a football. His mum, Tracey, held him by his hands as he staggered round the house as a toddler, swinging his foot at a ball then tottering after it and kicking it again.

Then there was the time his parents took him and his older brother, Josh, to Old Trafford to watch his first game against Blackburn Rovers when he was three.

Jack rode down Sir Matt Busby Way on the shoulders of his dad, Craig, and even though it was a cold December night, he refused point blank to wear a jumper over his United shirt.

Craig and Tracey worried that people were looking at the shivering little lad and thinking they were bad parents but Jack was so proud of that shirt, he wouldn't let it be covered up.

At home in Scunthorpe, he lived for football even then. He went to the local Footy Monsters kids' group every week without fail.

The coaches there said they had never seen a little boy who loved the game so much.

Even after all their lives changed in October 2009, somehow it was football that brought them the most comfort.

Jack kept waking in the night, being sick. The doctors thought it was a virus. It kept happening. They still thought it was a virus. Then, one day, Jack lost the use of his legs.

So he had a scan and they discovered he had a brain tumour and an aggressive form of cancer that had already spread to his spine.

He survived a 10-hour operation to remove the primary tumour. Then he had to endure drastic chemotherapy and radiotherapy treatment to try to stop the disease raging.

While he was recovering from the trauma of the operation, the doctors made special arrangements for him and his family to watch a United-Chelsea game on the television.

"It meant we could just sit as a family and watch something Jack loved, " Craig said. "It brought some normality to the most extreme of abnormal situations."

When Jack was finally allowed to go back home to Scunthorpe, still desperately ill and unable to walk, there was a surprise waiting for him.

His mum and dad had met Sir Alex Ferguson at the Tankersley Manor Hotel in South Yorkshire while they were having a couple of hours away from the hospital.

United were there preparing for a Carling Cup tie against Barnsley and Sir Alex had spoken to Tracey about Jack and asked for her address.

When Jack was wheeled back into the house, there was a box of United paraphernalia sent by Sir Alex. Amongst it, there was a football with the club crest emblazoned on it.

So Jack learned to walk all over again, using the same method he had used as a toddler.

This time, he had a walker, a kind of mini Zimmer frame, and he chased that United football all over the house until he could stand unaided again.

"He used that football every single day in his rehab, " Tracey said, "because it had the United crest on it. His physios used to joke with him about it all the time."

By March this year, Jack had been brought so low by the cancer that doctors told Tracey and Craig he only had a couple of days left to live.

He came home again to the bed in the front room and the television and the football. And the couple of days turned into weeks and now the weeks have turned into months.

And as Jack lay there, surrounded by the love of his family, football began to give something back to the little boy who had given so much to it.

United have acted with great class, helping to organise the training ground visit in mid-April. Ryan Giggs, in particular, went out of his way to be kind to Jack.

Rooney, Rio Ferdinand and many others have helped to grow him an army of nearly 40,000 followers on Twitter and publicise the fact that brain tumours kill more children than any other form of cancer.

Jack Wilshere has shown a maturity and a concern beyond his years, staying in touch with Jack and his family and wearing a wristband to draw attention to fund-raising efforts on little Jack's behalf. Rooney wore the wristband, too.

Wolves fans took a huge banner with Jack's name on it to games so that Jack could see it as he lay in front of the television. The banner was signed by Mick McCarthy and the Wolves side and given to Jack as a gift.

And then there have been the messages on Twitter, from United fans, from Liverpool fans, from Manchester City fans, from fans of every team.

"People have written to us, " Tracey says, "saying that they would never have believed it but they had found themselves wanting United to win because they knew it would make Jack happy."

The end of the season was hard for the family. It showed that time was passing and sometimes all Craig and Tracey want is for time to stand still.

They have poured as much energy as they can spare into raising awareness, highlighting the fact that 1 in every 2500 children will develop a brain tumour and that the UK has only a 14% five-year survival rate.

Now that the Premier League season is over, Jack watches MUTV and recordings of old matches, the England U21s, whatever snippets of football he can catch.

He is a beautiful child, still sweet-tempered and loving despite all the agonies he has been through, still blowing kisses to his mum's helper when she pops her head round the door to say goodbye.

Sometimes he wears an expression of heart-breaking solemnity as though he cannot quite believe his life has been stolen from him like this.

Sometimes, if you talk when he is trying to watch Peppa Pig, for instance, it is replaced by a flash of indignation. Sometimes, there are glimpses of the dashing, carefree kid he used to be.

When I have to go, I kneel by his bed again and confess to him that I once went to watch City regularly as well as United.

Jack's eyes widen. "I don't like Manchester City, " he whispers. And then he smiles.

Some fool once said football isn't a matter of life and death it's more important than that. He was talking rubbish. As Manchester United supporters on this site let us send all our hopes and prayers to Jack's family and friends. RAINFISHTROMBONE

Dere is no point bringing in kaka on loan.
Instead we should look to future stars- IMO shaquiri from Switzerland or martinez from Spain
Our players are well capable of winning in England.
In europe we have the team to get to the final but in terms of winning, we lack this skill, pace and ability.

***k Anyone above 27 we should start to build a squad that will contribute to success now and be unstoppable in the future!

Also go much was ashly and why is it undisclosed?????

G.A.G.U.S"

Hi G.A.G.U.S....Yeah I completely agree. I know there were meetings between Gill & co with Sanchez last week, but I am sceptical how real our interest was. Whether it was the fee or not, I do now believe that Fergie wasn't 100% keen on him. Just as one of the Ed's has said before, if we had really wanted him, we would probably have gone in for him before.

Good evening. First time poster so please embrace me. It's my thought that although young may not be a world beater I think he will be a good addition to the squad. He can fill any forward role and offers good set pieces and pace. When park and toni Were out last season we badly needed cover. I would not sell nani. I wouldn't be surprised to see us on occasion play roon upfront alone with nani and toni wide and young dropping in behind roon. Would I prefer sanchez, of course but that's looking like it's not going to happen and at least young is left footed as despite how amazing sanchez is young may fit the squad better positionally.

I I also cannot see us spending 30 million on any of the big names being posted on here. The best signings for me would be m'villa and gotze, but I just can't see it. CM clearly needs work so fingers crossed.

Cheers

united officially sign ashley young

personally i think this is a good deal, fantastic crosser of the ball and good at dead ball situations such as free kicks and corners which in my opinion is what we have been lacking badly. Rooney is ok now and again at free kicks but not persistant enough, and iv always thought giggs was rubbish at corners as well as nani....far too wasteful and not putting the ball into the right areas.....

darren gibson and johnny evans to go on loan to rangers for a season.

I don't know for sure but is johnny evans not a catholic which in Belfast would be a big no no as it would cause problems for his family. It is the sad truth

No he's a Protestant so it would allright i am a catholic from Belfast and the area where he grew up is not too far from me, the only problem with this would be Gibson who is from the south so he could've supported Celtic when he was younger like robbie and Roy keane {Ed007's Note - Darron Gibson was born in Derry. He was part of a group of players who fought to be allowed to represent Eire at international level. Can we please leave players religious beliefs out of things. First of all, I am a big fan of Man United ! I can t understand all the people that say Berbatov is not worth 30mil. Just look at his stats from the start of his career to now CSKA Sofia - 38 goals, Bayer L - 91, Tottenham - 46, Man United - 47, Bulgaria - 48. And I don t count the assists and key passes for others goals made... ! Leave him alone !!! As a fan I prefer Mata, rather than Wes S...He is much more mobile and can play on both flanks...He is a fantastic player and I think he is cheaper than Snejder ?! Which one of the two you would prefer EDS ?! {Ed007's Note - I need to stick with my original choice and say Sneijder, that doesn't mean he is signing, just sticking by my guns}

An awful lot of the rumours on here are being created on purposefully falsified Twitter accounts like Transferupdate - particularly a lot of the information about where the Sanchez deal is up to. Alarmingly, some of this is even making it into our daily papers.

Pick the Twitterers (or whatever they're called, I'm not 'down with it' anymore) you follow carefully.

And apply common sense. If it sounds ridiculous, it's because it is. If it doesn't fit a club's normal buying patterns, it probably isn't true. If it mentions a swap deal, be cynical - very very few transfers are swap deals because they're so difficult to pull off.

Most people who are genuinely in the know stand to make money out of the transfers taking place, or to gain a player. They wouldn't put a deal at risk by letting details sneak out unless they had something to gain from it (like hiking a player price).

DarkLard08 {Ed007's Note - I use Twitter and follow a lot of people/sites but I am very selective with what I believe or pass on. I mainly use it to keep in touch with CFC stuff, people I know are real and genuine, but it is always handy to see all the silly stuff too. To me Twitter is a bit like Wikipedia TBH}

I for one am happy with the players we have so far. De Gea/Jones/Young all will add something to our side next season....

The Premiership - last season we had no problems scoring goals, conceding was a problem hence Jones arrival to improve in this area and also put pressure on others in that area for a place..
Scholes - departing, we need someone to fill this position, and i think fergie will pull someone out the bag/ but it wont be sniejder/nasri... but maybe modric...if not modric it will be a surprise..
Young - is a fantastic addition to our squad.. his delivery is 2nd to none, something we not had for a couple of season. his corners will pay for his fee trust me. rooney/vidic/hernandez will feed off his crosses constantly.
De Gea - Obviously replacing VDS

But to all the fans saying we got no money to spend. the 3 players already combined will cost 40-50 million in fees and signing on fees etc...

Champions League - every club in europe want to beat barca, and its not always about filling your side with star studded players.. the barca side is filled with there own players... lets face it they not been very good in the transfer market over the last few years.. with alot of suspect buys.. but also players that other teams would have wanted... how many of you would have taken David Villa.. but now barca are looking to off load...

i trust SAF fully and expect us to be there challenging for all honours in 2012...

Wesley Sneijder said on his twitter page 'Getting close to the 150k followers so be ready for the question everyone'. Right now he is in LA but what does that mean. Is he willing to take a pay cut to join Manchester United or does it mean something else Ed? {Ed002's Note - He is in Los Angeles because his wife is there - there is nothing sinister in that - although it is not a city I like.}

ii was sat outside old trafford smoking a joint when i saw a car fly past me going about 100 mph then the car skidded into the player car park and then all of a sudden ronaldo neymar ferggie messi and rooney all walked out of the car fully naked and then walked into the stadium that will be our new strike force next season.i waited there and when fergie came outside again i asked him why were they naked and he said it was a squad bonding trip

As fans I think we all like to dream, but sometimes we need a dose of realism. We are not going to sign Sanchez or Sneijder or any other player whose clubs are asking 30M plus. The transfer policy is clear, talented young players who can be bought for sensible money on sensible wages who retain sell on value...

Is that why the likes of Veron, Ferdinand, Berbatov and Rooney were bought for around 30million each?.

SSN reporting that the Sanchez refusal to meet city is not true!! I think its down to Barca to come up with a bit more money though... at the end of all this he will probably stay at Udinese. {Ed002's Note - You don't think it is all down to Pozzo then?}

Possibly, the poilitcs behind this move are terrible, but i think Pozzo might be to greedy and end up shooting himself in the foot. Wouldnt suprise me. they will either have to take less than they want or the player stays and moves next summer for less again. Thoughts?

{Ed002's Note - I have explained my views at length on multiple occasions - I don't suppose anyone wishes to see them again.}

no not really, but there are so many contradicting stories. I dont have any insight like so many claim to have, i just read whats posted here and other places and make what i can from it.

The way some people are reacting on here is as if the transfer Window closed this morning.

Young is an improvement to our squad, providing healthy competition for Nani isn't a bad thing? hopefully it'll push him on to be a better player.

The whole Sanchez thing? well It's starting to bore me now, I wish Udinese and Sanchez would make their minds up, although I'm not going to pay much attention unless I see him having a Medical at United.

1 week and 2 days until we announce De Gea?

darren gibson and johnny evans to go on loan to rangers for a season.

I don't know for sure but is johnny evans not a catholic which in Belfast would be a big no no as it would cause problems for his family. It is the sad truth.

Not sure about Evans, but Gibson is northern Ireland born and bred, but elected for ROI, would never be accepted at Rangers

According to the mirror website sanchez flat refused to get on plane to city as he wants either united or barca. From what I hear out bid is £27m which is only 3 less than city which I do believe puts us in th driving seat.

We may have a chance of getting Alexi Sanchez after all. He refused to board the plane to manchester for talks with City because he said they were not a club he wanted to join. He said he wanted to play for Man Utd or Barca. Barcelona are struggling to come up with a package over £22m + player because none of their players want to go to Udinese. Barca are probably still favourites but if we really want him I think he is there for the taking. Come on Fergie Sign him Up

considering that citeh signed Milner, Johnson, Lescott and Barry (All english) for ridiculous prices ie more than they are worth, i think we've done well to get Ashley young for around the 15-17m quoted, will be a good squad player who can take set pieces and add a bit of flair after european games, not necessarily the only winger signing, but it could be worse. Besides, look at toni, reasonable PL player, now top quality

With regards to Matthew's post last night about Alexis Sanchez's tweet ->"Barca stalls, City offer", made via Alexiss7.

Now, I have posted a couple of times previous to this about Sanchez with regards to this twitter account and whilst this seems an extremely odd message to tweet, I really do believe this is his account. I've followed it for 8 months+ and every other message from it has seemed completely legitimate and nothing out of the ordinary. I may well be wrong, but I wouldn't doubt it too quickly.

sydney hit the nail on head as where the sanchez saga is at. Barce are probable favourites but need to come up with a financial situation that suits. Man city have the funds player doesn't have desire. Man united also have the funds and an interest from the player but need to wait for barce to show their full hand. What happens with fabregas may decide all of this. The funny unfunny thing is wenger could screw us by putting fabs price out of reach giving barce all the funds necessary. Its a case of sit tight and let it run its course. And to an earlier post i made. I meant nani will cover right not left and park could try his hand midfield with valencia at right back on occasion. Making me think with the addition of young the strategy is focused on flexibility. Mastering that system is one step in the right direction to meeting barce on equal footing. A good interchange of technically astute players equally spread across the front line, adaptable in positions and formations during the game. Players like sanchez would be a dream for that system. by buying young it allows the team to master it now even before better quality arrives. in my own view though Young is a good player who has had a very good footballing education at villa. I would put any seeming loss of form down to disillusionment and nothing else. He will suprise more than a few i'm sure and believe that even in his watford days alex had interest in him. Fed up of people on here damning Ashley Young before he's even played! I don't remember anybody minding when we first showed interest. He had a great season for Villa and has been their best player for some time.

To the fellow that mentioned Valencia's improvement since joining from Wigan - I totally agree with you. You could see potential in Toni when he was playing with Wigan, but since joining United he's really stepped it up (his development is encouraged due to being surrounded by world class coaches and staff, and also brilliant players). I believe the same might be said of Young at the end of the season. And what did Toni cost - think it was 16m?

The main point really is to trust in SAF, he rarely screws up, and if he thinks Young is worth 15m+ then he might well be.

Good news guys Alexis Sanchez refuses to board a plane to Manchester for talks with Man City.
he want to move to barcelona or man united, barca make a bid for £22m plus player which they refused to go to udinese.man united make a bid for £27m. so its up to barcelona to increase a bid or udinese to accept man united offer before copa america started next week.in case if he got injury.so guys our chance its still there. others we're in talk with real madrid about 2 players.

Every 1 are saying now that we have got young, nani will leave..but i think young will replace giggs(who is going to retire next year), park(who has said he l leave), obertan, even gibson..so nani will stay..that answers a lot of people..

A question to ponder, if we can splash out 16million on young, then why didnt we go for mata for 18million?
I really feel we should try for banega, shaqiri, pjanic, kagawa etc..they look class and definite stars of future..

I dont really know what to say about the transfer market so far cos it has been a bit strange but i'll have a go... lol
-Were not getting sanchez!!! can people please stop bringing it up hes barca bound
-De Gea and Jones are quality signings for the future
-Not convinced on A.Young but good squad player to have
-We do need an energetic quality playmaker in midfield i.e (Nasri, Sneijder, Modric etc.)
-Nani wont go anywhere!!! people putting 2+2 together and making 47
My ideal summer-De Gea, Jones, M'vila, Nasri, Young
Out-Brown, Bebe (loan), Obertan (loan), Gibson
.........oh and Smalling will be one of the top 3 cb's in the world in a few years-Hes Immense!!

Please can people stop saying that Sanchez might still come! He is primarily a winger and we have nani, young, park, giggs and Valencia now fergie isn't stupid enough to have 6 players who are competing for 2 places! Let's be realistic we are going for a proven European playmaker! That will conclude the summer along with young, de gea and jones! What a great transfer window, well played fergie!

---------------------

No he is not primarily a striker. He is a second striker/playmaker. Fergie probably has in mind to put Rooney back as a lead striker and Sanchez as the playmaker.

I know Hernandez is a very good striker already but his technique and hold up play isn?Ç t that good and because of that a lot of attacks breack down. Hernandez would be the "first" backup striker for Rooney up top and would still get around 40 games a season.

Could imagine that SAF has something like this in mind. (players in brackets are the first backup)

--------------Rooney(Hernandez)-----------
Nani(Young/Park)-Sanchez(Young)-Valencia

Valencias first backup would be Nani with someone of Young/Park coming in for Nani on the left.

Sanchez wouldn?Ç t be that a bad buy for us. Looking at that even Park could easily get 30 games. Young is so versatile that he?Ç d also get around 40 games.

It?Ç s a squad game and if we?Ç re honest in the offensive departement 2 new players were/are needed, especially if you consider that Berbatov is on his way out of the club.

So finally we would have:

Lone Striker: Rooney, Hernandez, Welbeck, Owen

Second Striker: Sanchez, Young, (Rooney, Welbeck)

Left Winger: Nani, Park (Young, Giggs)

Right Winger: Valencia (Nani, Sanchez, Young)

That is every position sorted with enough backup players. We saw this season how bad we played when just 2 wingers were injured.

Am I the only united fan who doesn't particularly want us to sign Sneijder? I would rather a successful breakthrough season for Morrison, Pogba, Tunnicliffe, Cleverly etc, than signing Wesley for 30+m with 150,000+ wages...

The class of '92 might not have done so well if we had bought a load of players the summer before....

Would love to see us sign Sanchez though and use him in a false 9 role. Spread Rooney wide left, Nani right. Hope the rumours that Barca have stalled are true, and that he chooses us, not s**tty.
