Mourinho will never be the united manager
1. Bobby Charlton dosent like the fact that he's arrogant and full stop dosent like him
2. Us united fans and boardroom want stability At least a good 5-10 years at the club and mourinho just wouldn't offer thaf

Got to congratulate Chelsea tonight, fair play to them.

Now, back to what's important, United.

Interesting comments from SAF regarding Blanc. Now the majority of us prob want Phelan to step aside now and I wonder if after the Euro's Blanc could come in to assist SAF for a season and then take over?

SAF has said he studied United's training methods during his spell with us and he's impressed with what he has done with France, creating a team with a mixture of youth and experience which is what SAF likes to try and create with all his teams he builds.

I for one would be happy if this materialised or even if Blanc came straight in as manager when SAF decides to step aside. The club has a history of keeping ex players involved with the club, people who know how the club works and Blanc fits the bill.

What's our thoughts gents?

After being confronted by Sky tv with pictures of his sending off Terry has now withdrawn his original statement and admitted that he was telling porkies.
Do we really need this despicable excuse of a human being as captain of our country?

Have to say I laughed when Torres scored and I actually shouted go on as he ran through. I am pleased for Chelsea because they played like a team a team inspired with perfect tactics , dull but perfect, against a superhyped Barca team that was put out as unbeatable, the best ever. The penalty apart Chelsea looked quite comfy and Barca had no plan B other than tippy tappy football and finished looking tired and lacking ideas.

Whatever happened to Messi, he looked tired and uninspired. The best player in the world, no not for me, Ronaldo all the way.

I am sure we could lend Chelsea Mike Phelan to help ruin their tactic awareness for next season.

Although they rode their luck, a fantastic fighting display by Chelsea.
You couldn't write the script , Terry missed a penalty in their last final and now he's gone one better and misses the final, and after his feeble excuse as to his sending off, will any one ever believe him again.
He now must be the only person sicker than me that his team have won.

does anyone think if both SAF and jose mourinho win the leagues that SAF will retire and let mourinho take over?

there would be no reason for mourinho to stay at madrid unless he wants to win the CL with them and he's said on numerous occasions he wants to come back to england, and if we do have money to spend maybe jose could get the players he wants.

''Also if we would of beat bayern muich in
2010, we may have went on and beat inter milan in the final or bayer leverkusan in the semi-finals, could of gave a good account of ourselves against real madrid in the final.
aaallj5''

''To be fair, had it not been for that pesky
Barcelona we would have 5 European Cups by now. We're just unfortunate that we have reached the final during a period of their domination.
TK-Red''

I dont really buy into the argument that if it wasnt for barca we would have 5 C.Ls. I mean, what guarantee is there that if we had played chelsea in the 2009 final or madrid in last years final we would have been victorious? And who's to say we would have beaten inter in the 2010 final? How many finals has juventus been in and lost? At the end of the day, no one remembers second place! We should have won and could have won last year's final if we had the right quality of players.
Look at our route to last year final, shalke? Olympic marsielle? An out of form chelsea? We lost the moment we met decent opposition in barca, it would have probably been the result against madrid.
The simple truth is that, saf's ability to get the best out of average players and a couple lucky routes to the C.L final have simply papered over the cracks.
But the thing is, luck runs out and fergy wont be here foever.... Therefore if we want C.L sucess in future, we will have to buy top quality players and sanction the necessary wages required to sign them.

Millz
p.s i hope chelsea get through today, am sick of barca behaving as though its a crime for them to lose a match or not win the C.L.

fergy when asked if City’s money men were the difference between the two clubs, Ferguson told RMC Sport: "That's not really accurate. I don't agree with that.

“It's true City became rich in a pretty incredible way, but it's not the fact there is a new owner and new ambitions which necessarily change things.

"The difference is perhaps that we're trying to build with youth."

SAFs comments on Hazard are interesting. But I don't see us signing someone for that sort of fee, that's why Modric is a no go for me. We are more than likely to go for good talents at no more than the £20 to £25 million mark. Probably players like Kagawa and Strootman are big targets as they have great potential and are a good price.

I'm not saying that we should pencil in the transfers of Clyne, Strootman and Kagawa, but they are the sorts of players I can see us going for.

i don't have any inside knowledge of united's transfer targets, but i believe luka modric is our main transfer target, there is alot mentioned about hazard and gaitan, but they are not central midfielders and central midfield is the weakest part of our team.I also don't believe anderson will be sold come summer,we already have scholes and giggs nearing the end, fletcher out for the long term, doubts over pogba staying so why would we sell anderson,he hasn't been great and if he doesn't hit his potential next season he will be gone i reckon. If anyone is to be sold i think it could be nani,he can't displace valencia and is ineffective on the left, where as young i feel will be our utility man for the wings if gaitan/hazard are bought, joeyored

Now Fabio going out on loan has been confirmed, it suggests to me that either fryers is closer to signing a new deal (as far as I'm aware he still hasn't), and is seen as an adequate back up to evra, or we will be signing a more established left back in the summer.

Does anyone know of any interest in players in this position? Or is fryers up to the task?

Here's who I'd love to see us atleast make a serious attempt towards in the summer window...
1. Hazard
2. Javi Martinez
3. Higuain
4. Gaitan (if Hazard fails)

IMO that's the perfect balance to what we need moving forward, plus arguably a young LB such as Clyne whom I think we'll wrap-up early on in the window, if not before.

United should have been chucked out of the league for pulling out of the FA Cup that season. The fact that they did it as holders makes it worse. No bigger blow has been landed to the most famous cup competition in the world. Make no mistake about it, Utd's decision to play in some mickey mouse competition was motivated purely by greed. They did it to sell shirts.
I was delighted when they got soundly hammered by the champions of Panama or whoever it was beat them.

I try not to come on here and post straight after a disappointing result and try to digest what has happened first.

Alot of people came straight on here after Sundays game and straight away it is all negative and naming every player in Europe as an option to buy.

First of all, I am as gutted as the next United fan after losing a good lead on Sunday and it is just unlike us, however, if we have learnt anything this season it is that nothing is guaranteed.

I actually think that the result on Sunday may be the final kick up the backside we need to push us to the Title because one thing United have is 'bounce-back-ability'.

After the disappointing results against Blackburn and Newcastle, we went on a great run which got us back into the Title hunt, after losing to Wigan we put 4 past Villa.

SAF said that Rooney plays best when the game is on the edge and I think that could be the same for the United team, if we had gone into the game against City with a 6 point lead, I am not sure we would see a great performance from the lads because now we need a result against them.

City have also shown that they not great with pressure, when they thought the league was over they started getting results again, now they see an opening, hopefully, pressure might start getting to them again, fingers crossed! I wasn't overly impressed with them versus Wolves who are poor so maybe squeaky bum time is setting in again?

For all those who came on and said we MUST win, I disagree, I'd take a point against them to keep our 3 point lead with them to go to Newcastle and us at home to Swansea.

Anyway, this time in a week we will have a clearer idea of how the title might unfold and let's pray it is in our favour.

On a side note, the Pique rumours are rumbling again, I wonder if there is foundation in them? I saw he said whilst talking about Drogba that he had a text from Rio and he said maybe it was to talk about Drogba? He obviously is in touch with a few lads still and is apaprently good friends with Rooney so I wouldn't be surprised if he becomes a target, SAF didn't want to let him go so who knows?

Anyway, Shappy, I am not competing with the length of your posts mate, just 2 days of thinking bout the final run in! Sorry mate :)

So the destiny of the EPL is back up for grabs and in all honesty I can't decide what is best for us. If we do win it I am worried that SAF will have papered over the cracks for another year and this will result in yet another summer where we do not strengthen the team in critical positions. Midfield has been a problem for a number of seasons, relying on the ageing Giggs and Scholes to carry us through. We are also short of strikers, Berba is on his way and we need a quality striker to replace him, if Rooney gets injured / suspended where will the goals come from. Include a new LB and I see a minimum of 4 players to take us forward into next season.
At the start of the season lots of posters were saying the future was secure, Cleverley, Anderson, Pogba, Morrison etc etc. The facts are, Morrison gone, Pogba undecided, Cleverley injured for most of the season and the same with Anderson. Since Moscow, Anderson has had numerous injuries and his form has dipped, what happened to the player of 2008 who cooly converted a penalty in the CL Final having had an outstanding season. I think I am right in saying that he has not played 20 EPL games in a season since then, if I am wrong I am sure someone will tell me. When he does start it nearly always results in him being substitued, sure he had a great start to this season, but yet again he is injured and has missed most of the season. I would suggest his form / fitness over the last 4 years are hardly a sound base to build a team around. So that leaves us with only Cleverley as a definite out of the 'secure future' of the club and he has also missed most of the season, but when he has played he looks the part.
If we win the EPL will the required signings be made, I'm not so sure, I think it will be just one more season from Giggs, Scholes and Evra etc. If we finish runners up is there more chance of the signings being made, yes in my opinion and so that is the quandry, will short term success this season be to the detriment of the club in the long term.

Ed/Sydney did you watch the young reserves destroy Chelsea yesterday?
They had at least 6 players in their team that cost a fortune. But the main reason for asking was the fact that Davide Petrucci is looking brilliant and really dictating games for 90 minutes with all these posts being supplied with the players wish lists I wish some of these people looked to see what we have for the future and how buying all these so called named players would stop our great potential coming through I for one am convinced Davide will be a regular first team player within 2 seasons

"Joe quick question what do you think of Sir Alex's European record given the teams and opportunities he has had? I AM KLOOT"

_____________________________________

I really don't know KLOOT. I'd be lying if I said we have our share. I think with the teams and the money SAF has had in the past it could be argued that we should have more European success - but again without Barcelona totally dominating European football in recent years we probably would have had. We could be on number four already, as it was pretty obvious that in 2010 & 2011 it was just us and them. It has now become more complicated I feel. And I've no idea what was going on this year.

I don't want to give anyone the wrong impression when I make statements like this however - I'm probably a lot younger than a lot of you and my club history is poor. I only know what I see in front of me today. All I am trying to do is present other ideas and say things the way I see them - I don't intend to argue with superior knowledge.. that's a losing man's battle.

"Norwich lost 6 1 at home to City like we did, there the similarity ends. I am not saying Lambert is not a decent manager, but after survival in the premier league for one season you would have him as manager of one of true giants of world football? It does not need thinking about to make that decision.

Many have heralded SAFs experience in situations like we are in now. Before he came to United he had won both in domestic competition and in Europe. Where is Lamberts experience in seeing home his team to a top league championship or in Europe? Next season there are a few managers who would make a fool of him in the position we are in now, the Old Trafford seat is not a a learning one. Imagine Lambert is giving the speech in the dressing room on Monday, there will be some players with more experience than him. He just will not command respect. It is unthinkable.
There are very few who could fill SAFs seat, it needs someone undoubted with the confidence, belief and CV to sit there and say I am a worthy successor. There is only Mourinho for me.

If you are a Glazer and would prefer to go cheap and see what happens choose Lambert and when he is sacked in 18 months because he is not up to the job you will have put us back into the also rans and probably have destroyed a good man in Lambert.

The role is too big for him. Check your club history for Lambert read Wilf McGuiness, we need far far more than that.

Red Man"

___________________________________

Red Man, you make a lot of sense. However I am not suggesting throwing Lambert in at the deep end - I said in my first post that depending on when SAF retires I think Lambert could be in with a shout.

With your criteria for next manager I can see that Mourinho is the only choice for you, however you failed to combat what I said about nobody being able to fill SAF's shoes. Instead of responding to my point, you have just elaborated on what you said the first time.

The last two chapters are called; 2012 Anfield PL win record; Hodgson 1 Dalglish 1, and I'm now Captain of a little mid-table club.

The only problem is, the printing run has been permanently put on hold as poor, poor Stevie hasn't got a title!
