Kagawa will be joining Rooney, Welbeck, Jones, Smalling, De Gea, Mata, probably Valencia and possibly Shaw earlier than planned in the USA. But I am still looking forward to watching young Wilson. Hopefully we can add Herrera and a left forward to the plane over and we can see what LvG will do with the side.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

The early exits that affect us are a good thing certainly, Syd. I'm particularly pleased that Mata is going to get more or less a full pre-season, with it being his first at the club. It will also do Rooney good, he is looking in good shape at the moment so will be good to keep on top of that as we all know he is a player who needs to be moving all the time, so to speak.

I'd be delighted if we were to take Shaw and Herrera with us from the off, am I asking too much to thrown another early WC exit in there in Carvahlo? Lol.

How good is James Rodriguez?he has potential to be a future bal on dor imho, I'd say now tho everyone will be in for him and that we have zero chance of signing him : (

Wingers at the World Cup:
Would love to see us bid for Juan Cuadrado. What an exciting player. Very unselfish and intelligent passer to go with all his dazzling skill on the ball.

Alexis Sanchez. A great professional, in my view. Strong and proven player. He plays with passion and seems to embrace the role of inspiring the Chileans along with Vidal.

Memphis Depay has impressed in his two cameos. He has a powerful shot, can create his shot, and knows how to link up. Seems to be strong and brave. I have read a few question marks on his temperament, just from feedback from Dutch supporters.

No midfield,

If we sign Herrera will you change your name to No centre backs? How many midfielders do we need before we have one?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Evening gds. If we sign herrera vidal and carvalho, then name will be changed in a flash. Hope we can buy a couple of good ones just to get us playing exciting football again.
Lvg knows what he's doing, so let's see what happens. Exciting times ahead!

Agree0 Disagree0

Bloody hell nomid, you're hard to please aren't you! That's one quick way to spend £100 million. Still not sure they would keep Cleverley and Carrick out of the side though .

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Jun 2014 22:42:46
So we need 3? The name isn't changing then, I doubt we will sign 3 midfielders.

Agree0 Disagree0

If we sign them 3 players just change you're name to premier league winners 2014/2015

Agree0 Disagree0

To be fair NM, your name is slightly misleading. Crapmidfield would have been more accurate

Herrera will be an excellent addition. He covers a lot of ground and is technically very good. He will help our possession and especially our speed of play. He can play both sides of the ball, he has a great work rate and a real engine. And the kind of player that will make others around him better. Hope he is the first of many!

Given the timing of one persons absence on here, coupled with our seemingly imminent flurry of activity in the transfer market, I have a theory.
To me at least, it would seem to be quite obvious that our friend Fresh! is, in fact, Ed Woodward.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I wrote a post earlier that suggested Fresh going on holiday was no coincidence. Not sure where that post ended up.

Agree0 Disagree0

Now there Betty, you have sown seeds of doubt in my mind. I always thought Fresh! was Louis Van Gaal. But then I have been wrong before, I always thought Sir Alex had signed up for this website under the username Sydney!

Deeps.

Agree0 Disagree0

Was thinking the same thing Betty.

Surprised that he has only moved for Herrera! If it is fresh, Vidal, Sanchez, shaw and hummels will be next.
:)

Agree0 Disagree0

Deeps, Syd couldn't possibly be SAF. I seem to remember SAF admitting he was wrong once :)

Agree0 Disagree0

Betty, I was wrong ONCE too :)

Agree0 Disagree0

Syd, maybe you are SAF after all then!

Agree0 Disagree0

Twice Syd :-)

Has everyone seen the bite marks? Clear as day. Chiellini has reported it to the RAI.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

And what exactly are Radiotelevisione Italiana going to do about it?

Agree0 Disagree0

He showed them the bite marks on camera and has urged FIFA to ban him. Didn't Suarez punch someone on international duty about 18 months ago? Didn't that get swept under the carpet?

Agree0 Disagree0

I think he has bitten off more than she can chew this time! Lol

Agree0 Disagree0

His bark is worse than his bite!

Agree0 Disagree0

Could it be possible that Suarez did this on purpose - in-order to help facilitate a move away from Liverpool? Or maybe he is just a few pence short of a pound. Either way, it was a really dumb thing to do.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Jun 2014 19:45:21
I've been bored with WC already.

Instead, to summarize our transfer action, we have interest / bid on Shaw, Depay, Herrera. Surely we need one more centre back and hopefully a winger and perhaps play our youngsters like Powell.
Also out of Barmby, Zaha and Lingard, do you think any of them will stay on for the first team game instead of loan spell?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I wouldn't be surprised if Lingard and Zaha are sold this summer or more than likely loaned, then sold next summer. Barmby signed for Leicester last month, I think.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Jun 2014 21:07:28
Jack Barmby signed for Leicester after his contract expired at the end of the season.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think we will sell Lingard. LvG may want to take a look at Zaha before being hasty. There's no doubt Zaha is an exceptional talent, but is he mentally strong enough to succeed?

Agree0 Disagree0

Good evening Guys

This is not Unite related but I feel I have to mention what Suarez has done in the Italy game.

I was amazed at what I was seeing when he bit Ivanovic but to witness him doing it again during the Italy game to Marchissio is astonishing.

I have just watched the pundits on ITV discussing what should happen to him.I feel he should be charged with assault. If he did that on the streets on a night out he would be charged with assault.

This person should not be allowed to make a lucrative living out of football when he behaves like that. This behaviour doesn't belong on the strrets let alone a football pitch.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Here in the US on ESPN, Ruud was utterly speechless and Roberto Martinez was adamant that Suarez's behaviour had had an adverse impact on the Italians and affected the way they handled the subsequent corner, from which the goal was scored. This is the second world cup where Suarez's fouls have resulted in Uruguay's progress. Given that this is his 3rd biting incident, the very least is that he should be banned from international football from tomorrow through the end of the 2018 world cup. Even more fitting would be if the Uruguayans were thrown out of the tournament. It's disgraceful.

Agree0 Disagree0

I wonder what Gus Poyet has to say about that. Blaming the English media no doubt, even though they weren't at that game :)

Agree0 Disagree0

Marchisio already been sent off by then, it was Chiellini he bit.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Jun 2014 19:13:05
Suarez mis-understood when Óscar Tabárez said show me your Hunger during the game.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

24 Jun 2014 19:01:25
And that's why suarez will never be classed as one of the greats.

Once people forget about his antics and he builds up his reputation the positive way, from his football. He goes bites chiellini and brings that reputation down.
No sympathy for him, how can he have the audacity to say the english media treat him harshly? Deserves to miss the rest of the WC

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I cannot believe he has done it again. I almost feel sorry for him. He obviously needs help. Maybe having all his teeth removed might help him, they must weigh a fair bit anyway. And they would no longer be flagged offside.
I would expect him to at least miss the rest of the world cup now.It may even affect his future at A Field because he will know that everyone will rip the piss something chronic next season.
Anyway, I'm off for a bite to eat at my local Italian, Ristorante Chiellini :)

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm so glad Suarez is not a Manchester United player.

How on earth Liverpool fans have continued to get behind him I will never know. He's a disgrace. I'd rather win nothing than win things with Suarez. Apparently pool fans are happy to win nothing with him. I suppose that shows how desperate they are these days!

If a dog bites somebody it gets put down. Suarez gets a multi-million pound contract. What a joke. I hope he picks up a very lengthly ban (20+ games).

Agree0 Disagree0

Agreed Betty, I feel sorry for him more than I am miffed to be honest. He certainly has issues that need medical(?) help. It's sad because he is a brilliant footballer but has nothing remotely human about him. 'Pool fans bringing Cantona and Keano into the discussion should go get some fresh air.

Deeps.

Agree0 Disagree0

Redseven, I can answer that. It's because he's their only top notch player. If it was Aspas or Borini they would want him gone. I think this has played right into RM's hands. Going to be hard for Liverpool to keep him now. Sponsors will be wanting a sale I'm sure. Liverpool will also know if he does that in an EPL game then he will get at least a nine month ban.

Agree0 Disagree0

To be fair to the Liverpool fans (which believe me it's not something I do), if you pop onto their banter page they is outrage about Suarez and majority want him booting out their club!

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Jun 2014 20:31:30
My friend (Liverpool Fan) seems to think there is no difference between a head butt, elbow and punch than there is a bite. He is convinced most people would rather be bitten than nutted haha! ''Pepe head butts and it is forgotten in a couple of days'' he says!

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Jun 2014 20:35:35
Wouldn't surprise me if it was a wee ploy on his part. Now he can say there's no way he can go back to England. Move sorted. Barca might even get him on the cheap now.

Agree0 Disagree0

Boca -

Liverpool fans are only condemning him this time because they know he's going to be leaving in the next month or two. If Suarez somehow stays at the club I can guarantee they will be cheering him on again as soon as the season kicks off - as was the case with the racial abuse and the previous bite.

Syd -

He may well be their only top notch player; but what about morality and ethics? Regardless of how good a player was I could never condone that sort of behaviour at our club and I don't see how they can either. I know they're desperate to win something - but Suarez is not the answer.

I agree that this may well play into RM's hands as there is no way Liverpool (as a football club) can keep him after this. I expect it will cost the club at least £20m and am still hoping there will be a lengthly domestic ban imposed which puts off the transfer for another season and drops his value further still.

Agree0 Disagree0

Agreed Red

Personally I can't see him getting a domestic ban, as it would be punishing Liverpool, whom he wasn't representing at the time! My word I hope he does though!

Agree0 Disagree0

Sydney you will find nearly all of liverpool fans want him gone.

Agree0 Disagree0

Boca, they do this every time, within a few days the same people condemning him now will start defending him. You will start to see some defensive posts as early as tomorrow, but by the end of the week they will love him again and you will read things like, it's only a little bite, at least he didn't karate kick him or break his leg like Roy Keane done. Liverpool fans are very fickle fans, probably the most fickle out there.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Jun 2014 21:13:27
U answered your own question redseven when u brought morality and ethics into a discussion about liverpool fans.

Agree0 Disagree0

R7, I don't care how much Liverpool get for Suarez. He is the player that makes them all tick, not just on the field, but mentally. The Liverpool side would struggle mentally if Suarez wasn't around. He is what gives the other players their inspiration. Would the likes of City, Chelsea, Spurs, Arsenal even ourselves (whilst in transition) fear a Liverpool side without Suarez on the team sheet? Liverpool will never be able to replace his quality so for me as long as he's sold, I am happy.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - They would be fine Syd, players are no more than transient employees.}

Boca -

If I recall correctly Cantona's ban was a worldwide ban and prevented him from playing international football as well as domestic. The same is true with drugs bans.

If you're going to ban the player from playing football - you ban him from playing football. I'd be surprised if the FA put up any kind of fight if that's what FIFA decide.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sure Ed, I am not saying they will collapse and cease to exist without him, but they wouldn't be as strong without him in the team. It would be a major blow with the player slipping over on slippy Steve's teardrops :)

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Players come and go Syd - it will make no difference in the big scheme of things.}

002, are you looking forward to the "Suarez wants to come back to Anfield" posts to come? I think you still get Torres posts now don't you?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I have to be honest and say that I feel really sorry for the club and what is a great fan base Syd. The club have to get a plan in place to address the sponsors in the first instance. They then need to decide on how to deal with the press. At some point the player and his representatives will be told, again, how disappointed the club is with him. I can appreciate the fans wanting to support the player - for now, the best they can do is step back and see what has happened rather that try and rationalise.}

Syd -

I beg to differ. Rodgers is what makes Liverpool tick.

Sure if you take Suarez out of the equation they become a very average team; but give Rodgers £80m+ and he'll bring in some top players.

I don't think they will be able to replace Suarez because as a player he's up there with the very best - but add 4 or 5 top players into their team and they may well prove stronger next season than they did last.

Agree0 Disagree0

I pity you sid lmao

Agree0 Disagree0

R7, give BR £80m and he will piss it all up against the wall like he did buying Aspas, Borini, allen, Cissokho (loan fee), Ilori, Yesil, Assaidi, Toure, Alberto & Mignolet. Why do you think Liverpool decided to bring in some help for him with transfers? BR got away with playing the "everyone underestimates us" mindset last season, but fans will be expecting more this season. BR cannot play the underdog next season, not after this season. Liverpool players went 90% of the season not believing they could win the league. As soon as it became a reality to them they bottled it. Pressure got to them. It will be a harder season for them next season. More games to deal with, far more injuries to deal with.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Jun 2014 06:02:51
What's laughable is how he slumps to the ground and pretends as if Chiellini elbowed him. By the way, posters at the dark side are not condoning it one bit, I would like to apologize for my last statement. In fact Ed 001 and Ed002 have been right on the money there. 'Pool will have a hard time explaining this to their sponsors.

Deeps.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sydney. Banter is one thing but your hatred for Liverpool has you deluded beyond the realms of reality. These things won't happen just because you dream of them to happen. Liverpool will be fine without suarez. If I were I would be more worried about your team doing better rather than other teams failing to push you up the table.

Also, I just can't wait for your typical start of the season prediction on how many points will Liverpool finish behind United. You do seem to get them right.

Agree0 Disagree0

Have to disagree ed, I think losing him this summer will rip the heart out of a team that are already fighting above there weight

Agree0 Disagree0

002, I can see Blatter sweeping it under the carpet personally. What I think Liverpool fans need to be wary of is if he did it again in the EPL. I feel the EPL will give him a season long ban.

Just got in from work, did the usual routine of coming straight on this site to check the news of the day to see ander herreras name everywhere, I just hope this is true, I said from my first post this is the midfielder we need :-) if this is some sick twisted rumour ill b beyond devastated lol come EW get this deal done :-) ill drive to bibao and pick him up myself, ill even make him up a thermos if he fancies it lol ;-)

Good news about a Herrera and kind of ironic that it happens just as Fresh has gone on holiday. After all the names bandied about and talked about in the press, interesting to note that Herrera was not mentioned at all. Just shows we are working quietly this year, about bloody time. Also proves we can discount much of the paper talk

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Has Fresh! gone to Bilbao this year?
Hopefully he's off on a European tour taking in Madrid, Turin and Munich also.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Jun 2014 18:28:10
I have watched Herrera regularly since last summers farce. He is an excellent player, but I would prefer it if we signed carvalho. I just feel his power and size will be better suited to the premiership. I would settle for carvalho and Herrera in midfield. I know carvalho is stupidly expensive, but I think over time he will prove to be worth it.

His range of passing, his reading of the game and interceptions against the US were simply brilliant. I have said it before, but him sitting letting the other midfielders play would be great. Also offer a brick wall to give 2/3 new defenders some extra confidence/ support. Also able to slot in making a back 3 when lb and rb attack.

Fingers crossed.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

24 Jun 2014 14:46:03
Hey ed just a quick question if you don't mind - up until recently it seems like everything going on behind the scenes from moyes sacking to our talks with kroos has been repeatedly leaked to the media, but now this bid for Herrera has popped up out of nowhere and so did Valencia's new contract. I was just wondering what you make of this? I guess it may just be speculation but could it be LVG's influence or has Woodward finally realised leaking to the media can be extremely embarrassing for the club?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I don't make anything of it in particular.}

24 Jun 2014 17:33:27
I think I will now mute the tv whilst watching England.

Is there a worse commentator than Andy Townsend?

Steve McManaman is narrow 2nd. Phil Neville 3rd?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I've been enjoying the 11pm games on the Beeb. You can switch the commentary off and just watch the game with ambient noise!

Commentary has been pitiful all round at this world cup.

Agree0 Disagree0

If the question involves the prefix, worse, Robbie Savage is always the correct answer.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Jun 2014 18:06:17
Add our own Paddy Crerand to that list too Syd

Agree0 Disagree0

Townsend is terrible. Not good enough to play for England so he played for Ireland through his grandmother and not good enough to commentate on them either.

Agree0 Disagree0

Tylesdley is rubbish as well, his best moment was 15 years ago with "they always score" :)

Agree0 Disagree0

John Motson

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Jun 2014 18:27:36
I would cut Phil Neville some slack, they threw him into that England game as his first game as co commentator and it showed. Some of the games since he's been much better.

I agree on Townsend, hate him and everything he says.

Agree0 Disagree0

Made me laugh a little with Phil. he was really trying to change the tone of his voice. You could tell he took the monotone comments on board.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Jun 2014 21:31:39
Have to disagree Carloto, Tylesdley's master piece, was 99'.

Name on the trophy, can they score full steam ahead Barcelona.

He along with that team made my neck hairs stand up. Still do. I watch that season at least three times a year. MAGICAL.

Agree0 Disagree0

Robbie savage and Michael owen are crap as well. Not many left that we like!!

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Jun 2014 17:09:30
Although we could have done with a midfielder last season, it might be for the best that Herrera is signing this summer
He's got an extra years experience under his belt and he'll be working with a better manager and ( hopefully ) better squad.
If he'd been involved in last seasons shambles with the pressure of being a big money signing it could have affected his confidence badly

this might be a repost.

a few seasons back pre season we played a quick passing style that worked well. it didn't keep up. troubles with Rooney, Cleverly Anderson and Nani not living up and so on but it was good creative football and brought the best out of our suspect players. whatever the reason we didn't sustain it.

with Anders kagawa Mata there is no doubt in ny mind the loss to Barcelona set in motion a plan still coming to fruition.

This is very good news as players like cleverly and NanI are more suited to this and it will reinvigorate Rooney who I honestly believe most issues with him has been the lack of quality around him and particularly behind him.

In Anders we have a clever footballer capable of the forward passes we've been crying out for with ji sung park tenacity.

very good signing if true

Believable0 Unbelievable0

24 Jun 2014 15:09:28
Not sure I'd compare Lindegaard with Ji-Sung Park.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Jun 2014 16:09:08
Redrosie, I think Constantine means Herrera not Lindegaard.

Agree0 Disagree0

Constantine I think the things you saw a few seasons ago were a dream.

Agree0 Disagree0

"slaps head" too late

sarcasm aside. I hope the signings true

Agree0 Disagree0

Not sure I would either ha. no man Herrera.

Agree0 Disagree0

Not at all Carloto. We beat barce albiet without Messi with Nani welbeck Cleverly and Anderson with some nice interchange. a few of the games around that time had emphasis on quick passing especially around the box. it was good to see and I was suprised not to see it more during the season. Anderson went deeper and Nani went Nani ect. i'm still sure it was Fergies last plan that didn't come to fruition.

Agree0 Disagree0

Friendlies don't count.

Agree0 Disagree0

Friendlies don't have the competitive edge no but they do give opportunity to implement new ideas. the boss wanted quicker tempo quicker passing more interchanging and the games of that pre season gave glimpses of it. and it was obvious too. but cheers for the balanced view point Carloto. food for thought if i'm in for being anorexic.

my point is Herrera is another step in a creative direction of a passing game players we already have will improve with.

again if its true good signing.

edds,

quick question if I may?

at utd I know we have a few defenders, but its quite obvious we still need someone with alittle more 'experience' should we say with rio and vida leaving?

Forgive me if this questioned has been asked, but who are you led to believe are LvG's targets?

is Miranda from atleti Madrid still on and also mangala has been quoted as saying he'd prefer a move to us?

thanks for your time!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - RTP.}

24 Jun 2014 11:10:33
Hi Eds, hope all is well.
Are you able to shed any light on the positive speculation surrounding Shaw and Herrera? Have things moved forward and are we close on either/both?
Thanks as always,

KingGiggsy

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I cannot quantify "close".}

24 Jun 2014 10:27:44
If de Jong is available and for the reported figure of £6 million then despite him being 29 he would represent a good buy. It certainly represents good value for the reported cost. Though like much of the paper bull we are seeing day in day out that he is another player of many to be continued to be linked with us. And he's Dutch shock horror surprise

A quick question for Ed002 if your around.

Are we utd fans expecting too much this transfer window I.e big money signings and a few of them or should we just accept that it will take a few transfer windows to overhaul the squad. Thanks in advance

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I have explained it will take three windows to rebuild.}

24 Jun 2014 11:04:16
Hope we don't mess around, I wouldn't be surprised to see Barcelona also meet his clause. Vidal is their prime target, but Herrera would be more achievable for them.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

The first spanish reports say Herrera is actually in England and it's a 4 year deal let's hope it is sorted

Agree0 Disagree0

A few reports saying he's agreed a four-year deal worth a total of just £9.2m. Fee around £28m. Bargain!

Agree0 Disagree0

Amazing player hope it goes through.

Agree0 Disagree0

Easy, fellas. we've been here before. Until it's officially announced, it hasn't happened!

24 Jun 2014 10:04:24
Morning Ed! Just wondering if you had any news on Van Gaals preference for his backroom team? It will be interesting to see who he brings with him.
Also, have we actually upped the Shaw bid to an acceptable offer? And have we met the release clause(I know you don't like telling us the money figures) for Ander Herrera?

Thanks

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note -Frans Hoek and Marcel Bout are coming in with LVG.}

24 Jun 2014 10:18:56
Looks like the Ander Herrera deal is going through. Shaw looks to be close. i'm getting excited now.

24 Jun 2014 10:09:31
Rumour mill going crazy that Anders Harera of Bilbao is a done deal. I know we were looking at him last year and apparently Van Gaal rates him but can anyone who has seen him play give a brief critique of where he will fit in and whether he is what we need and of the right standard.
Thanks

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I think he will be a really good signing if we are in for him. Anyone who has watched him play would agree.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Jun 2014 11:28:13
He is exactly what we need. He's a quick box to box midfielder with endless energy. He has excellent dribbling and passing and he is not afraid to go in for a tackle.

Agree0 Disagree0

Mr W, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE get us Vidal to play along side Herrera!

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Jun 2014 09:57:55
Apparently herrera in for a medical today, several Spanish outlets reporting, v good player with all the attributes we are lacking in the middle but is he guaranteed to adapt to the prem league? think w carvalho would be less of a risk imho

Believable0 Unbelievable0

24 Jun 2014 11:40:33
why does W carvalho come with a guarantee?

Agree0 Disagree0

Guarantee?LESS of a risk is what I think I said, no?

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Jun 2014 12:24:54
Would have thought Herrera would be less of a risk , much more experience and playing in a stronger league

Agree0 Disagree0

Van Gaal has never worried too much about experience, if they are good enough and fit his ethos then he will pick them.
Personally I would also go for Carvallho or Strootman for the number 6 role.and think Van Gaal feels the same if he comes back from his injuries fit.

Agree0 Disagree0

Herrera I will be delighted with, I was just thinking that carvalho is stronger so maybe less of a risk (last thing we need Is another veron)

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Jun 2014 16:28:59
There'll never be another Veron :)

Read a rumour that United are interested in Sporting Lisbon's young english defensive mid Eric Dier.

He is a United supporter as well. Anyone seen him play?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Supposed to be a good prospect. Parents moved to Portugal some time ago and he's been coming up through the sporting youth system.
I mentioned him around a year or 2 ago and I suspect quite a few British clubs are following him. I think Everton were in for him last summer.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Jun 2014 09:58:00
Can anyone tell me what type of player Ander Herrera is? I have not really seen much of Bilbao so don't know his style of play. Is he a silky passer, or more a box to box engine sort of player. in short is he what we need? (and yes I know we need a lot at the moment)
Either way it is good news!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Yeah, he has all of that in his locker. I think he will be the legs. I initially thought the fee was in pounds sterling, but it's in euros, so for less than £30m it is a bargain. Hopefully EW can pull this one off, shouldn't be too hard considering there's a clause price to meet.

I watched him closely last season after our previous interest and would say he is similar to the Cesc Fabregas that left Arsenal. He plays as a central midfielder but has all the qualities of a number ten, so he can link play from deep but also affect the game when given license to break forward. He has a bit of dig as well, has a great range of passing but most importantly he moves the ball quickly. Also important is the fact that he always seems to show up in the big games.

First off, I've never seen Herrera play.
But from what I've read on here, and elsewhere, he's exactly the calibre of player we should be targeting so this news was great to wake up to.

Hopefully this goes through smoothly and we can move onto the next target!

He's a good player this lad I was gutted we didn't get him last year.
Good on the ball good in the tackle and box to box .
He actually is " exactly what we need "

When I said on June 8th that Herrera would be one of the best options that we could buy, I didn't for one moment think there was a chance of getting him. Hoping this can happen as like Jred said, he's genuinely exactly what we need.

Say we can only sign one world class player, would you rather that player be a defender, a midfielder or a winger?

A midfielder, specifically Vidal.

Midfielder without a doubt. Every team needs an engine and we just don't have one. In Januzaj we have an up and coming talent for the wings and there are some options out there who could do a great job and would not be considered world class (Depay, Konoplyanka). Same with defense IMO, if Evans and Jones could stay injury free that is a very good partnership for the league. At LB Shaw, Rodriguez and Kurzawa would not be considered world class yet would all make a huge improvement to the team. Midfield is where we need the big names.

Centre mid for me. Weve been desperate for some quality in the middle for years now. I do like the idea of herrera in there though. Just a tough tackler now

Agree0 Disagree0

CB shappy we have just lost two and we need to strengthen as we have looked dodgy there sometimes. Our attack is good enough and mid is suspect.

Good morning Eds and all.
Here we go again with another ghost from the long summer of 2013. Is it any truth in the Ander Herrera to ManUtd rumours, which is reported by the Basque newspaper ElCorrero this morning?

so we have submitted an increased bid of 34 mil for Shaw. Shawley it should be enough to land him now

I read £30m plus £4m in add-ons. Fingers crossed.
