Use our rumours form to send us manchester united transfer rumours.

Don't think it's been talked about on here much so thought I would bring it up.

Interesting that we have won the most away points from home this season in the PL. Considering are home form has been so poor means it's difficult to pin point why this is.

Either way doesn't that make us the most likely English team to beat Bayern Munich in the second leg? ;). On a serious note I do think have the second leg away could be a blessing in disguise although I still expect us to come up short

Hopefully we can do one over City tomorrow night.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I hope so too. I just got my ticket for the second leg today. unfortunately I'll be sitting in the Bayern section, but what the heck.

Can't believe we are even discussing who we would prefer to win the league and we as united could have a say in the title race. Just goes to show how far we have decline this season. We are 7th playing like a mid table team and now talking like a mid table team.
Come on guys have some pride

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Acker.

This season was always going to be tough for your team. I have to say I never expected it to be as tough as it has and Moyles this season has made some mistakes. But then again show me a manager that hasn't.
It's tough when you have dominated the league for so long to suddenly be in this position. But if the men in suits manage things correctly this will turn out to be a mere blip.
Next season could be something different. You summer dealings will be crucial.
Get thing right and this season will be forgotten. Get things wrong then the consequences don't bare thinking about.
As for the moment there is no need to feel bad because supporters are talking about tonight's game and what a Utd win would have as a consequence to where the title may end up.
Just remember that this time next year things will look completely different. One way or another you will be either very happy or wondering where it all went wrong.
Good luck for the future. let's hope that this is just a blip for this season. I look forward to the Utd games both home and away and would like to see you back up there with us challenging next year.

Here's a question that is going to be tough for you's and will tug at you.

Tomorrow you play City.
A win for United would open up the League and give Liverpool a chance of winning the EPL.

So the question.

Do you want to win tomorrow and open up the door for Liverpool or do you want City to win and increase their chances to win the league?

This is for SENSIBLE banter please. I know some will not care so to those please don't answer. I just wondered out of the two teams you would prefer to open the door to. (And I know you would ALL prefer Chelsea or Arsenal to win it but the EPL WILL not affect either of them by the result of tomorrows game)

Cheers guy's.

vrcomp.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

First of all you assumptions are all inaccurate. I always want us to win, the opposition is irrelevant, in competitive matches. My personal choices for winning the league would be Arsenal or Liverpool.

So to answer your question, damn straight, I want us to win.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Mar 2014 20:03:14
My preference in order to win the league
would be arsenal city chelsea and anyone other than liverpool.
That said I want us to win tomorrow and every game. If Liverpool win and take advantage so be it. I remember last game of 95 season when pool beat b;ackburn but we didn't beat west ham and lost by a point.
I understand the question but i'm not worried who wins it when we dont. IMO Liverpool are playing the leagues most attractive football intertwined with fantastic individual performances by several players in different games. Keep what you have and add some top defenders and you will prove a good challenge to us next season because we will be back and you know it you hope and pray we will screw up like you lot and go missing for 20 odd years but you know it ain't going to be like that see you next season I wonder to your guys have the bottle? IEnjoy the ride IMO you will come up just short and next season will be tougher no doubt about it. ;o)

Agree0 Disagree0

My preference to win the league is anyone except the dreaded scousers and Arsenal (can't stand Wenger). Doesn't worry me if City or Chelsea win. I am more concerned about us developing our squad to be able to mount a genuine challenge next season following the debacle that has been this season.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hi Ken

I have no doubt about it. Unlike a lot of rivalries with supporters in football I don't have that kind inside of me.
I think given the right additions next season Utd will be a force in the league. But imo it will depend on whether you's can get the right players if you do not qualify for CL. (Don't forget you can still get there if you win this seasons competition)
And Grund, good on you. You should always want to win every game.
I have never been one to get hot under the collar over footballing issues.
Its never easy to see a club on the slide. Most of my brothers are Leeds supporters and I don't think there has been much more of a dramatic slide than that. lol.
I just wondered which of the teams, and unless there is a dramatic slide in fortune's that this season is between City, Chelsea and Liverpool.
At the moment its Cities to lose. I have said that since Christmas. But should they lose tomorrow against you guys then it becomes Pools to lose.
I was just wondering what you as Utd supporters would be more happy with as in theory Utd COULD hold the key to where the trophy ends up this season.

Agree0 Disagree0

Never understood fans who say they'd rather lose a game, just to hurt someone else.

Agree0 Disagree0

You seem to be under the assumption that Liverpool have what it takes to overcome Chelsea. I suppose it is a possibility - but in my opinion the only team that would benefit from us beating City are Chelsea. Given that Arsenal look out of the running now; Chelsea are the team I would most like to see win the league.

If we're talking hypothetically and beating City guaranteed Liverpool the title - I'd still want us to win. I still recall when Liverpool rolled over against Chelsea and gave them the league in the 09-10 season. It demonstrated a clear lack of class which I'd like to think is beneath a great club like Manchester United.

For the foreseeable future, however, it seems as though our chances of beating City are exceedingly slim and thus the knowledge that in defeat we prevented Liverpool from winning the title would soften the blow of being beaten considerably. As long as we gave it our best, that is.

Agree0 Disagree0

I just want to win, and then I will root against Pool winning the league.

Agree0 Disagree0

Jeeeesh, that's a hard regarding the title. As I live in MK, it is made up of a lot of Cockney spin offs (as well as other castaways) who moved here to build the place. So I have a certain hatred towards gooners, as they don't shut up about anything and always moan and gloat when it's unjust (IMO). So for me it's Chelsea, City, then a coinflip between the scousers and gooners.

Hi vrcomp,
Whatever the next couple of months have in-store for your team its tough watching in from the outside for a change. I think it will be close and that you will come up short against the big 2 at home and I think it will come down to experience.
Manchester United will remain a big draw for big players next season but we will have to pay a little over the odds in fees and wages. Remember City signed many a big star kompany toure silva etc before that had champions league footie you got Saurez without it so its not a major concern as long as its not a prolonged period and I doubt it will be because they will fix t this year I believe. The Gla$er$ have to to protect their investment.
I have many friends that support Liverpool that have had nothing to cheer about in the league since they were doing their old o levels so its nice for them to get their old silver Candy Jerseys out most of them are hitting 40 and look a bit like Jan molby now themselves

Agree0 Disagree0

I want utd to win simples. If u are good enough and ready to win the league u should regardless what happens tomorrow night.
Unlike Liverpool and in particular Gerrard, I dnt want us to roll over just to stop u winning the league, I have never really been caught up in what u are doing and won't be doing so now!
U are playing amazing football just enjoy it.

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't care about the rest. I want us to beat city. Simple as that!

Agree0 Disagree0

I want us to win tomorrow, but when it comes down to who I would prefer to win the League out of the current top 4, I'm going to go for City - mainly because it's good for Manchester over London and Liverpool. Now that I'm old and don't have to put up with certain City supporters and their infuriating inferiority complexes, I find myself antipathy has lessened. Besides which they are historically the least successful of the group so they don't threaten any of United's records.

As much as I hate to say it they have set up a great organization and have committed to the long term development of the neighbourhood and to youth development. There is much within the club and what they are doing that United should look at, because frankly the world has been moving on. SAF was like a successful version of King Canute, but even he couldn't hold out forever. United needs a bit of a makeover.

Agree0 Disagree0

Completely agree with Steven

Agree0 Disagree0

Some nice points there and very well put.
Yes Ken I am sure some of the top players will see that Utd are still a force and will come to you because they know you will challenging next year.
As for looking in from the outside you don't have to tell me about it. With the exception of a few high's in the last 20 years that's what I have been doing so I know how it feels.
I have to disagree with you on Suarez. He was not the player he is now when he joined Pool. Many teams would not touch him because of his antics at Ajax and we took the gamble. I think the management have a lot to do with his current form last season and this and NOW he will only stay should we qualify this season. If we don't he will be off. And if I am honest I am not sure he will still be here next season if RM come knocking on our door regardless of what he may say about wanting to experience the "European nights at Anfield"
CTR. Great to see you emerging back on the boards. You and your family have been in my thoughts and prayers of late and I hope all is going well with Jack and your wife. Good luck to you all in the future.
As for the rest. Valid points all.
Good luck for tonight and the rest of the season. And looking forward to next year when you have bought some new players. Will be great for the game to see you up there challenging for the title next year.

Just looking at the table and wondering does anyone believe we might see Arsenal drop into a fight for 4th place.

They have Swansea and city and home and then everton away. I can see them dropping quite a few points and not a sure a thing to finish top 4. Banter please.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Arsenal will always have a poor patch during the season, last season it was the first third, most seasons it's been the final third. I thought they would struggle and drop off around March time. They were very lucky against Spurs the other day, Spurs should have at the very least drew. Like Jose says, AW is a specialist in failure. They usually slip up around this time of the season. I still expect them to get 4th mind.

Agree0 Disagree0

I actually said months ago on here that we would end up top 4 and arsenal would be the team to drop out, still think there's a chance but a very slim one!

Agree0 Disagree0

Chelsea might just pip City due to fixtures slightly favouring them. Liverpool should finish 3rd. Arsenal 4th if they don't implode. United could sneak 5th but would probably have to win at Goodison to do so.

Agree0 Disagree0

If City win tonight as expected, I think they will win the league quite comfortably. Chelsea 2nd, Liverpool 3rd, Arsenal 4th. I think we will finish 6th, but perhaps 7th would be better for us.

Would it be possible to ask a genuine question without all the nutters jumping on here and saying 'Liverpool supporter' 'troll' etc etc?
Surely the majority of you will accept (even if
you can't say it to me) that Ferguson dealt Moyes a terrible hand.
A terrible squad to inherit. A mixture of too old, too rash, too poor, along with two or three (max) who are good enough for the top 6 in the league. I've no need to list the players under the headings 'I've given as you people know them even better than I do. But left with a terrible squad and expected to keep doing well. It will take three windows to get close to putting things right.
Disney - don't just come on and say 'won the
league last season'. We know that - but that time has gone and 'himself' jumped ship asap

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Moyes inherited an aging squad, but a good squad nonetheless. This very same squad minus Fellaini, Adnan & Mata finished 29 points ahead of Liverpool last season and won the league by 11 points. If SAF was still in charge we would be in the race for the title now, I doubt we would have finished ahead of City, but we would be up there now. I just think the squad dealt with the transition poorly and got worried without SAF in charge.

Agree0 Disagree0

To be honest our squad has been average for a couple of seasons now I think the only reason we won the league was because of fergie
and I do think fergie thought it was time to get out now rather than try and build another team only to leave in a year or 2 and for another manager to come in and want he's own players

Agree0 Disagree0

A week ago, Liverpool beat us. but that time has gone. so your point is?

Agree0 Disagree0

Oh come on - I know it might be sacrilege to suggest AF stitched anyone up . but.
Ferdinand, Evra, Giggs have all finished. Vidic is a shadow. Young,
Anderson, Fletcher - you tell me!
Rafael - red card waiting to happen
RvP - sick note waiting to happen
Rooney - forever sulking because
RvP came in and took the glory

Agree0 Disagree0

Fergie jumped ship because he knew the squad needed major changes and knew the Glazers wouldn't give him that money after the current squad had won the league by 11 points

Agree0 Disagree0

May I, a non-nutter, respond?

It was not an ideal squad. There were not many players who had great seasons last year. To name a few: RVP first half in particular, Carrick, Rafael, de Gea, Evans. But Rooney, Valencia, Nani, Anderson, Evra (in defence), Cleverley, Welbeck (at least as a scorer), Giggs (cameo/too old) and Young all had mediocre seasons. Vidic, Ferdinand, Smalling, Jones spent half the season out injured or played in the wrong position. Many of us feel it was SAF's most astonishing achievement to win the league with this squad. In Europe we were garbage for the most part.

This type of season has been coming for a while now. The question is whether Moyes has made the decline worse than it should have been. Most of us think yes. At this point in time you could easily make a case for it taking another couple of years to rebuild, but the Glazers may not have that much time without experiencing a substantial financial impact, so I would expect significant investment in the summer, despite us not being in the CL.

You could also make the case that Moyes is not the man. Personally I would put Rodgers, Mourinho, Pellegrini, Wenger and Martinez (in that order) above him as far as coaching ability is concerned. IMO Rodgers gets manager of the season if Liverpool come in 3rd or above (which I believe they will).

Agree0 Disagree0

Peashooter I never had you earmarked as a nutter - they know who they are. I take your point about the Glazers not being able (or willing) to take the financial hit during your travails BUT you cannot correct your problems too quickly. You cannot integrate 5/6/7 first teamers (which is what you need) all at once and expect anything but a full season for them all to gel. Hence my 3 windows comment.

Agree0 Disagree0

Oh - and I think we will get 2nd

Agree0 Disagree0

Puzzled,

With the right 4/5 additions in the summer we could have a very good squad indeed. The needs have been identified by more savvy tacticians than I.

The question is whether Moyes can a) identify the needs b) acquire the players to fill them, c) settle on his tactical approach and d) instill some sustained spirit back into our play. If he can, then I would expect us to be back in contention next season, when, like Liverpool this year, our squad will not be so physically taxed by being in 4 tournaments.

Agree0 Disagree0

Peashooter - read your post with interest if not total agreement. However, when I got to your last sentence - OUCH

Awefully quite today. Where is everyone. Predictions for tomm?

I think we lose 2-1.

Can't see us beating City, but who knows? Maybe a bit of the old "Wigan" spirit?

Agree0 Disagree0

I m expecting more worst

Agree0 Disagree0

We will beat City 4-3 put your money on it mates

Agree0 Disagree0

I feel like a turkey waiting for Xmas.

Agree0 Disagree0

It is hard to see us beating City yet the pressure is on them. I think it will be closer than many think possibly 2.1 either way. We need to get tight in midfield particularly around Yaya and that would be key. It's a nervy time for City as they are playing catch up and know it is a game they have to win. Odds are we would lose yet it is our cup final and we have seen what teams have done to us in similar games. I would be glad with it being close as long as we didn't surrender like the Scousers did to stop us winning the league a few years ago. Tighter game than many think for me.

Ive backed rooney first scorer and 3-2. just prey demechaeles starts.

8 goals in 21 games and some are absolute stunners, we had the answer to our problems all along but were too shallow to realise, the man I am talking about is of course Bebe, back form injury with a bang and he'll be back from his loan spell at the end of the year ;)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

He is having a better season than zaha

Agree0 Disagree0

Please NO!

Agree0 Disagree0

9 goals in 31 appearances overall and no goals in Europe in 5 appearances will certainly turn our season around next year

Superb player, truly underrated and worth way more than the bargain price of £7.4million we paid for him

I've heard rumours that Real Madrid want him and Bendtner to be their new strike-force. Anyone else heard this?

Agree0 Disagree0

Bebe will be starting next year alongside kone. Leon osman who is superb and a great freind will also join . You guys moaning about defense, jakielka and distin will join. Howard as keeper

When watching vs The Hammers I saw beautiful play from Kagawa and Mata which made me enjoy the game, they where running off eachpther and creating space, which allowed Rooney to do his thing.

So what i'm saying is. Kagawa and Mata behind Rooney in a 4-3-2-1?

Have Januzaj and Valencia on the wings which meand we have pace, passion, defensive cover and obviously crossing ability.

Have Fellaini causing problems in the middle, being a ball winning midfielder. Then have a back for of Jones Smalling Rafael and Buttner. All young hungry and determined to do well, whereas Evra and Ferdinand have essentially given up on us because their careers are over.

RVP can leave, he is lazy and selfish and only cares about getting himself goals, and IMO I think Rooney knows this and dislikes it a lot which would explain the lack of chemistry.

HarryUTD

Believable0 Unbelievable0

You do realize that in the Christmas tree formation, the three ahead of the back 4 are all CMs, not two wingers and a DM. We'd be bullied left, right and center playing with so little central cover. And your comments about RVP are quite frankly personic.

Agree0 Disagree0

Your comments about RvP are utter nonsense. Worse post of the season ;)

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - 30 points ahead....ah forget it! :)

I don't see why Mata and Kagawa couldn't play CM, Xavi and Iniesta do it and they aren't the best defensively.

Agree0 Disagree0

With those players in effect you are talking about playing a 4 1 4 1 which is not so ridiculous.

However, Andy is probably right that with our current midfield personnel we would get over run in the middle of the park.

Silly comments about RVP though.

Agree0 Disagree0

Typical post of someone who thinks football is as simple and straight forward as the fifa video games ;)

The part that made me laugh the most, RvP only cares about getting himself goals? While all other strikers walk out onto the pitch hoping to make more goal line clearances than they did in their last outing right? Haha.

Agree0 Disagree0

Disney - I object to that comment,
surely MINE are the worst posts of the season

Agree0 Disagree0

Kagawa and mata in centre midfield. haha c'mon if you have ever studied football or played to a decent level you would understand why this could never work in a million years, its all well and good being technically excellent on the ball but what about when we don't have the ball? were hardly blessed with big engines in midfield who could cover these twos ball winning responsibilities. comparing them 2 what xavi and iniesta do for barca is way of mark 2 as the 2 barca maestros don't get shrugged off the ball easily like kags and mata do and they work tirelessly pressing opposition midielders when they don't have it. also the comments are very harsh on van persie, just remember we are 20 times Manchester United and we 100% would be only 19 times if robin wasnt here, he was more than just a goalscorer too last year, his all round play and technical ability is second to none as a striker, just let's not forget that!

Agree0 Disagree0

Stretford, it's all about the right tactics and how the team sets up.

Agree0 Disagree0

Jk92, thers nothing tactically right about playing two technically gifted lightweight number 10s in centre midfield with only one other in there with them, it dosent matter how u set your stall out, it just can't work.

This summer is really excitin world cup ties full summer. As well as I as a Manchester united supporter may well see a wholesome change at the club.
So many of current players leaving or getting sold, thus needed to be replaced either internally or from the transfer window.
Definite players leaving are Rio; vidic; Anderson. Players whom club wants to move on are: young; nani; Hernandez;kagawa.

Now by no means I am expecting 8 to 9 players coming in.
So logically we may see 1 exp cb along with Michael Keane to fill 2 space. And if Keane/Smalling/Jones don't justify themselves we may see another establish cb coming in either Jan or next summer.
In a lb position we may see shaw coming in as ever as option.( do any1 expect 2 lb purchase?)
Press is linking us with Coleman. We do need a genuine rb in as Rafael hasn't grown the way its expected for him but still we may see internal promotion of vermijk/ Urugvayan kid.
Now most important cm's. There are all chances we may see two of carvalho; gundogan;kroos;Vidal; pogba; sami khadira; verratti( press list is very long)
As nick Powell is coming in we may not see Hernandez replacement as club is well stocked there.

Emergence of janujaz; purchase of Mata are factors we may not see player like reus coming in; but an out and out left footed quick winger will provide different aspect. Don't rule out griezman/shaqiri for this.

So overall its 1 cb, 1 lb, 2 cms, 1 winger to come minimum.
And those players will change total look of game we play now a days.
CNT wait for that time to start.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Agree entirely with most important positions to fill. Some more players who don't figure may leave too Macheda etc. Shaw would be brilliant but Coentrau rumours are starting again and he's good and much cheaper. CB Garay would be a good and fairly cheap option. CM's is where we need to get the balance right, Gundogan and Kroos for instance would not work, either of the 2 with Carvalho or Vidal would. Griezmann stands out for me amongst left wingers, anyone who saw him torment Barca a few weeks ago had to be impressed.

Hi, just seen that Munich have had a part stadium closure put in place for recent homaphobic banner they displayed and will be for the 2nd leg of the Champions League, may be that it is less intimidating, probably won't make a difference, but anything that gives us an advantage

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Bayern still have the Ribery, Robben, Kroos and Lahm advantage haha.

Agree0 Disagree0

C'mon Fresh!
We have the Young, Valencia, Cleverley and Rafael advantage!

Agree0 Disagree0

I bet they have towels draped on the seats just the same, for our arrival :)

Agree0 Disagree0

Wish they'd made them have to play with 6 players too. Then I might have started to get excited. Mind you, Toni and Young probably still wouldn't be able to pick a teammate out from a cross.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Mar 2014 09:31:06
Genuinely excited for tomorrow. Would be more confident with RVP but not to worry. Ed002 said that he thought we would in future set up with two solid midfielders, two up front and then two inside forward, sort of like a 4-2-2-2 or a 4-2-4. I hope that is what we see tomorrow. Welbeck and RVP up top, Mata and Kagawa behind and Fellaini alongside Carrick in the middle. I also hope that Buttner starts as I think that he needs to get games before we play Bayern.

This system lends itself to the players that we are being linked with. Carvalho alongside Fellaini would be very solid, as would Kroos. We could play a high line with Jones and Garay, Shaw and Rafael would provide good width and if we could get a new winger in as a different option we would be in good shape - someone like Pedro.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

And Rooney?!

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry, meant Rooney and Welbeck up top tomorrow, my mistake!

Agree0 Disagree0

I think Fresh meant Rooney not RVP for tomorrow. With a fully fit team I think we would struggle against City or any top teams. Our lack of pace in midfield and injuries in defence will only make it harder. I hope i'm wrong of course but I fear we could lose big just hope we show the fight and team spirit of the last 2 games.

Agree0 Disagree0

The lads have a point to prove, I think they will at worst put in a very hard shift.

Got to give credit where it's due to a man who sometimes divides opinion on here. That is Wayne Rooney! I know he's got his mega deal in a way some of us don't agree with. But everytime he's been on the pitch he's fought for the team even when others haven't! After all the summer speculation he's buckled down and got on with the job! Hopefully this continues and he becomes the main man again through his performances and can take his place among the greats! Agree or disagree views welcome

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Been saying for a while the best is yet to come from Wayne (Pavee blood you see), wages are not what a player should be judged on its what they do on the pitch that counts he is our best player so I guess he commands the biggest wage end of and when we get players in the summer I can see a very dominate team forming under Moyes with Wayne as captain and a young hungry team for next year we should all be very excited

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Mar 2014 03:44:43
Rumours are starting to circulate that Mourinho may be willing to let Lukaku go in the next transfer window. If Moyes is after another striker then I think Lukaku would be the way to go. He is much younger than other targets mentioned and has proven himself in the premier league, not to mention that he would probably cost half the price of other potential targets like Costa/Cavani/Falcao. If it happens, we would get quality cover for RVP and Rooney, which is what any new strikers would be and it would free up more money to spend on areas of the pitch we need to strengthen. What do you guys think?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

He or Morata would be good signings. RVP, Rooney, Welbeck and one of those two with Henriquez or Wilson as back up would be excellent.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think Wilson is going to shock the world next season he is gaining the muscle to cope with the first team, he is as fast as Walcott with the finishing of Micheal Owen he actually looks like a 6 inch taller left footed version of him and he can become a superstar over night. I would like Lukaku or Morata but only if RVP was to leave and I hope he does not as he is better than both players mentioned and would be the perfect striker to train Wilson up they have similar styles both left footers and both 6, 2 Wilson could really lean a lot of Robin and i'm shore that's the plan to get Wilson to be the heir to RVP and learn as much as he can of the old master
