Fellaini has an "OK" half against West Brom and suddenly everyone thinks be should start now, Jesus Christ. If we play one up top hope it's Falcao, with Di Maria, mata and Valencia, blind and Hererra. Janazaj was awful last week

Believable5 Unbelievable1

Herrera and valencia are injured mata and janazaj where awful so don't play fellaini who actually played well

Agree4 Disagree1

Stand United, you have to look at the big picture.

Some want Fellaini to start, but it's not just because he had a good half. We remember the player that used to torture us every single time we played Everton. A player who pretty much no one in the league could stop due to his absolute awkwardness on the field.

WE remember one of Belgium's first names on the team sheet. The player Arsenal and CHelsea were interested in before we bought him.

We also can't ignore Mata's form and Januzaj's inexperience, which means he might bottle it big time.

We also can't control players' fitness, and Di Maria/ Herrera might not be able to start.

We might need someone to bully the likes of fabregas and Oscar around.

There are many reasons that would make us want Fellaini to play.

Agree0 Disagree0

People here like to abuse fellaini because moyes bought him. Everyone forgets he has been pretty much carrying one injury after another since he joined and we might still not have seen the best of him. but it is fashionable to sh. t on him at the moment.

Agree3 Disagree0

I'm not dumping on him but he has not looked the same player since we bought him, he terrorised us but when playing for us has been ponderous and lethargic.

Agree0 Disagree0

AJH

I was not referring to you mate and more to some of the other posts. You would think we have bought a Jemba Jemba if you read some of the stuff posted about him. He is not worth 28 million but he is not a two bit player either and gives us options when things are not going well.

I think he is much better than what we have seen and who knows maybe guys like him and carrick will really benefit with having better personal around them.

For all the " anybody but rooney " gang would you play him against chelsea if available

Believable6 Unbelievable3

Yes, Rooney is a big game player.

I ask u, do u think Rooney getting himself stupidity sent off forcing him to be missing these games make him the right person to be captain?

I'm also inclined to add who these 'anybody but Rooney' people are jred?

I haven't really seen anybody claim they would rather have anyone but him playing, people have claimed they feel we have better players in the position he plays and are still a bit peed with the way he acted towards the club in times we needed solidarity not someone holding the club to ransom.but hey I'm sure there might be a few who would play anybody but Rooney.

Agree5 Disagree3

Yes definitly he is one of our best players have never bashed him always stood buy him

Agree1 Disagree0

Chris
It was a silly sending off but it happens, I've seen worse.
I was a massive fan of keane and cantona tow good captains and the god that was robson .
All 3 not saints, but i think you need that bite to be a captain.
Who would you have as captain ? Anyone but rooney

Agree1 Disagree1

Suarez would be good then jred

Once a again with the behind the hand sarky comment 'anyone but Rooney', who has said this?

My captain? Toughy, blind in hindsight looks a good shout, Carrick maybe or even ddg, Rooney would be my vice captain. But that's just my opinion.

Yours? Know one but Rooney 😜

Agree2 Disagree2

Chris
The no one but rooney thing has been going fir a while, not started by me but very true.
Ddg really ?
The face of manchester united, the media darling, the voice in the dressing room and example on the pitch . DDG
But any one but our most influential player, our top goal scorer, a player who has played for the club for 10 years not the 8 games like blind .
No not rooney but anyone else but the england captain.

Agree1 Disagree2

Blind as captain.? Played a handful of games for our club and you think he should be captain.
If we sign a vidal type player blind will struggle for a game
Anyone but rooney

Agree0 Disagree3

{Ed004's Note - Blind has impressed me but I would hope over next couple of windows we upgrade his position so not sure he is an ideal captain. Our team seems very light weight in midfield ATM. I'd hope we would sign someone like Strootman to replace him or partner him in big games. Sorry bit off topic}

Ed004 i'm not a huge fan of strootman to be honest .
Blind is easy on the eye always looking for the ball and uses it well but so does carrick.
Does blind break it up enough, protect the back 4 enough.
manchester united captain, face of our club, voice in the dressing room, played a hand full of games ?

Anyone but rooney

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed004's Note - I tend to differ with you there. I think Strootman is a top player. Certainly Captain material as well. He is a leader and is rated highly. Will add steal to that midfield. Also think he has a better passing range}

Chelsea fan.

You whinging about Rooney kicking out, saying shouldn't be captain, our captain who we have always stood by John terry got himself sent off for kneeing Sanchez up the arse. He cost us that game but we got through by passion and luck.

Terry's done a lot wrong, but he is still the best captain we've ever had.

Stick by Rooney

The amazing thing is jred I said in hindsight not at all did I mention I would of gave it to him!

On ddg, yes that one, u know our player of the year last season if I'm correct.

I get the impression this is a pre loaded argument from your side so I will leave you there mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

Rooney isn't really a big game player any more than other players in our team. When has he taken a game by the scruff of the neck when it matters for club or country?

That said, he should definitely start ahead of RVP, Mata & Januzaj for me. He should also be captain because of our serious lack of alternatives. He knows the club, is respected by his colleagues, meets the managers criteria for captain (English) and has a bit of fight, he is also the most experienced player we have in terms of pressure and handling it, (not always for the best).

The sending off was just a bad attempt to stop a counter attack, nothing more than that, not being Rooney's greatest admirer any more I would like to say there was more to it, but there simply wasn't.

I also agree that Blind should be seen as a versatile squad player, he doesn't bring enough to that key role for big games, but he is an upgrade on what we have currently and knows the managers methods.

Agree0 Disagree2

Chris
Read my op again, its def a pre loaded question

Oh leave off aron, there were plenty of Chelsea fans that gave Terry stick!

I know jred mate, by the way I'm far from anyone but Rooney for captain, like I said though I thought maybe Carrick or ddg would of been better choices, I'm not saying I'm right or your wrong bud, just my opinion.

I Dnt often get into heated arguments these days so apologies mate if u felt I was going off on u. 😊

I value all posters on here, we all want the best for our club.

Agree0 Disagree0

No probs my man

Agree0 Disagree0

Rooney after di maria is our best player and they are the 2 players who will get the game by the scruff of the neck by far the best choice for captain

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Oct 2014 12:41:44
Carrick is well respected and would make a good captain but he's not a player that is nailed on to start every match. Especially if we bring in another top quality midfielder in Jan. No one else at the club has credentials to be captain through either lack of experience, talent and time at the club. Rooney was always the obvious choice. I for one think he's a good captain.

Agree0 Disagree0

I would play one striker even if rooney was available, I would play Falcao. Best of the 3 imo.

Agree0 Disagree0

Correct that maybe play rooney instead of mat but mata does give you a better passer but rooney gives you more energy.

Agree0 Disagree0

Edd004
Rated highly by who?
He was available for 14 mill and only rome wanted him.
He was important to the dutch squad, but who else did they have ?
I am not a big fan of strootman and that was before he done his knee.
United captain ?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed004's Note - he would'nt be our captain immediately but he obviously has leadership ability and is a player LvG rates highly and trusts. I think it's a very likely transfer}

25 Oct 2014 16:53:33
I think once Carrick got injured, LVG had no other options but to make Rooney captain, there was no one else really, we needed a captain who was in the side from the kick off. That said, if we sign a top quality leader at CB or CM, then I'd give it them with Rooney vice captain.

Wow, several people suggesting playing Fellaini off the CF. Really? 1 good game people. I mean, I wish Fellaini well and I hope things come good but after a great goal we now want him starting up front against Chelsea?

1 up front I agree with. Blind and Herrera in the middle, Di Maria and Januzaj (or Valencia) wider. The question is another up front or another in the middle. For me, Januzaj through the middle or Januzaj wide and Di Maria through the middle

Believable0 Unbelievable5

Ajh
Its not 1 good game its more a case stopping chelsea midfield who have been excellent so far.
I don't think we can carry a mata or adan.
I think fellaini will start and i have a bad feeling we might see a few long balls .
Also chelsea are a big team fellaini will add height

Agree1 Disagree1

Fellaini would be completely useless playing off the striker against Chelsea. They have a lot of big strong players at the back and Matic in midfield, so yeah he'd give them a bit of a challenge physically. But the only way to get through against Chelsea is to exploit their lack of pace through the middle. For that reason I think that we should play Di Maria behind the striker for this one, or alternatively Januzaj.

Chelsea will score against us, that is guaranteed. So our team needs to be set up to exploit their weaknesses, and that means we can't afford to play Fellaini as an attacking mid. Lumping balls up to him plays straight into Cahill and Terry's strengths. Running at them with pace, however, gives us a chance.

Agree4 Disagree0

Fellaini has give chelsea a going over a couple of times in the past for everton.
I think chelsea will control the midfield and possession so lvg may decide to miss the midfield out a bit, his dutch team where not afraid to go long .
I also think we will try to hit on the break and di maria will be key to this but i think from a deeper and wider position than playing of the striker

Agree3 Disagree1

Based on his performance the other day Januzaj shouldn't be anywhere near the starting line up. Fellaini, Herrera, Pereira and Blind in midfield with Di Maria in the hole and Falcao up top.

Agree3 Disagree2

R7
Januzaj was'nt the worst player on the pitch against West Brom, going by your logic then Shaw and Herrera who were both worse than Januzaj "IMO" should'nt play either.
We need a bit of consistency and the only way to get that is to get these players playing together on a regular basis, they need to understand and get used to each others play.

Agree2 Disagree0

Herbie. What game were you watching? I'd be happy to have the argument that RVP or Mata were worse than Januzaj - but Shaw and Herrera? Januzaj contributed nothing against West Brom. He could have not been on the pitch and I doubt very much the score would have been too different.

Agree0 Disagree1

V West Brom Shaw constantly gave the ball away and looked lost a lot of the time.
Herrera was knocked off the ball most of the time, he needs to bulk up.
Im sure both will be great players for us but my point stands, we need to stick with them, build there confidence and get some consistency and understanding.

Shock horror!!! Just seen on TV that Chelsea will assess Costa's fitness before the game on Sunday. Wow. A week ago Chelsea only had Drogba according to Jose. How can he be such a poor judge, with all his experience eh? Amazing!!

Believable5 Unbelievable0

24 Oct 2014 11:51:30
Why does it come as a shock to u? And why would u like Costa out? I'll b sad if Di Maria and Falcao don't feature in that game. I want to see both team's best players on the pitch. And may the better teamm on the day win.

Well since then he was hospitalised with virus, even if he's our injured they would say there is a chance, managers lie, nothing they say about injuries before big games can be believed.

Did you know gullible has been removed from the dictionary?

Has it really GDS2? Must have been when they removed sarcasm. Just as well, its wasted on so many ;-)

Everyone on here knows how much I love a hypothetical question, so I'm going to ask one. It is highly probable that LVG will offload Mata and RVP in the near future in favour of a wide forward so that we can properly play his 4-3-3 formation. Which wide forward will be #1, #2 and #3 targets? I'm going for Bale, Reus, Depay.

Believable0 Unbelievable4

I'd go Reus then Depay, not sure RVP will go as he is playing and really doesn't deserve a spot atm, I think this weekend will be telling does Falcao play as a lone striker, which he is supposedly best at and we could go 5 in midfield for Chelsea

Agree1 Disagree0

Given the form Chelsea are in as well as our own defensive form I really don't think we can start with 2 strikers up front especially if 1 on the guy's in midfield is Mata.

I'd start Falcao supported by ADM and Valencia (Rafa would need help to handle Hazard)
Would plat Mata, Fellaini, Blind as the central 3.

RvP has not played well and I hope LvG has the balls to drop him.

Agree1 Disagree1

Falcao has to be up top for me on his own. i'd also get Di Maria and Valencia on the wings for their pace and work rate with Roonet dropping into midfield with Herrera and Blind.

Agree0 Disagree1

Will Rooney still be banned?

Agree1 Disagree0

24 Oct 2014 12:06:30
Rooney not available Fresh

Agree1 Disagree0

Rooney is still suspended Fresh. Will be available for the Man City game though.

Agree2 Disagree0

Its not rooney though its that new guy roonet

Agree4 Disagree0

Falcao up top fellaini playing off him.
I will be surprised if fellaini doesn't start

Agree3 Disagree0

I agree Jred. I can seek Carrick & Blind playing and Herrera on the bench as well.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think if he starts with RVP we will lose. Time for the manager to make some tough decisions. Falcaos ball retention and hold up play is miles better than RVP. I am pretty suer chelsea will play a 4231 and we need to have 3 midfielders or they will run riot. I can see Blind, Carrick, Herrera, Fellaini, dim aria and falcao on top.

BTW what has happened to Anderson, he does not even make the bench anymore??

Agree1 Disagree0

We need to match chelsea up in the middle imo so it has to be 1 up top.
I will be a bit gutted if its not falcao

Agree1 Disagree0

RVP loses the ball, loses headers, and looks so off-pace, infact in his first season he used to drop deep and took-on players. Maybe benching him would arise some fire in him.

Mata, he has been poorer and poorer as the season goes on. I sincerely always felt Kagawa was better than him in all aspects. Mata looks so slow and negative.

Mata and RVP have become like Chicharito. They only score a goal, and do nothing the whole game.

A top 6 of
Fellaini, Carrick, Blind, Herrera/Valencia, Falcao and Di Maria.

Agree0 Disagree3

24 Oct 2014 15:43:56
Yeah Anderson has no future and everyone's waiting for summer when his contract ends.

Agree2 Disagree0

If I understood LvG correctly, Carrick won't feature. My favoured line up just to mix things up against chelsea will be Falcao up top with Fellaini Supporting and Blind harrera middle 2 and AdM and Valencia wide, back 4 the same as previous game. Reckon it will be worth the gamble guys?

Agree2 Disagree0

mbd

For me the big area will be the full backs if Costa isn't playing. Rafael needs help against Hazard and Shaw will need help with Willian. LVG could of course adopt a policy of sticking Di Maria down the same side as Hazard so he has to watch Di Maria - maybe not a bad move. But I think this is a game for Valencia to come in and support Rafael. We also need some power and strength in the middle so Fellaini, Blind and the guile of Herrera.

Agree2 Disagree0

Midfield four of Herrera Valencia Blind and Fellani Carrick might just not be fit enough to start and

Agree1 Disagree0

Pretty sure Valencia has hammy problem, Carrick plays tonight in the reserves to help gain fitness so he is possible
