So, played for united when he was younger, didn't work out so went back to his original club., now older with a family and a more settled player who believes in his ability and plays weekly, interest from other prem. clubs for him this summer, he's quoted as saying he'd be open to a return to united, so-would you give wilfred zaha the opportunity to return?

I always liked him and he brings something our other forwards don't but if it's at the expense of martial or rashford it's a No, if it's a replacement then yes.

Never really got a fair crack of the whip but he just did an interview saying it was his fault. Far enough to the lad shows heā€™s matured and taken accountability. I like him he is always a threat and is very direct. Wins a lot of penalties but he does dive a lot. Not sure if he is better than we have got. But city seem to be interested in him so says a lot I think about his talents.

Salah left a jose mourinho team aged 22.

De bruyne left a jose mourinho team aged 22.

Martial is most likely going to leave a jose mourinho team aged 22.

Will martial go on and do wonders like the aforementioned two players at another club?

Believable11 Unbelievable12

25 Apr 2018 11:15:26
I don't really care if Martial leaves, just like Chelsea fans won't have cared De Bryune and Salah left when they did.

Lets go through the 3.

De Bryune didn't want to work and put the effort in, **sound familiar? So was allowed to leave. (Jose didn't sell him the club did)

Salah, only bought him so Liverpool didn't (my opinion) . Did Jose buy him? Doubt it, I imagine he was a club buy. Also never really pulled up trees in his early Chelsea career, did he?

**Martial (similar to De Bruyne) at a young age can't be bothered to work that extra bit for the manager, may go on to be world class in a side that ships 4 but maybe scores 5 because he doesn't want to work back.

Agree16 Disagree12

25 Apr 2018 11:40:15
I agree with FZZ. The press narrative is incorrect that Jose was at fault for Salah and De Bruyne leaving and that it is coming back to haunt him that they are playing at a world class level. Ed hasnā€™t mentioned that there was more to than that.

De Bruyne always had the talent but seemed like he needed to move and play regularly to realise his potential. As FZZ said, itā€™s chelseaā€™s Fault in deciding to sell not Jose. I would even go as far as saying that with the turnover of chelseaā€™s Managers, the board are the ones that control most of the ins or outs. Please correct if I am totally off the mark ed.

In regard to Salah, nobody could have predicted he would be this good this year. He has been a joy to watch and is up there with the best, if not the best player on the world. He clearly needed the move away from Chelsea to develop and its simply a match made in heaven with Klopp. I guarantee Chelsea fans werenā€™t too bothered to see him go and even the most ardent of Liverpool fans were not expecting him to be this good. But hats off to him and Klopp he has been a revelation.

Onto martial - yes very talented and may come back to bite us. But he has had plenty of opportunities and although his stats are very good this season, he clearly isnā€™t showing the drive and desire the manager expects. If a player isnā€™t showing that then the manager cannot pick him. Jose can ask rashford, Sanchez, Lukaku and Lingard all to go out and bust a gut and do certain things. But I have yet to see martial do that. At the end of the day Jose needs the type of players to play his system and way effectively. Whether we like his style or not if he has the right personnel then his teams are often there or there abouts at the end of the season. If martial doesnā€™t fit then he has to go for someone that will do the job. We have the back the manager. Personally I think a loan is best for martial and he is a player I like a lot but itā€™s about the team at the end of the day.

If real Jose sold them as some believes, but we have told did not, then needs credit because they needed to leave and develop further by playing regularly.

They made the right move for their carrier.

Hates aside they couldn't have played regularly considering the squad Chelsea had.

Agree3 Disagree1

25 Apr 2018 12:32:26
Latest press reports state that Real Madrid, Barcelona, PSG and Juventus are all interested in signing the totally useless, never going to be world class Anthony Martial. Obviously, clearly he has many big name admirers who think he is worth buying.

As for Mourinho's mistakes with Salah and De Bruyne, neither of them were playing under him at Chelsea, so neither really had a chance.

However, Martial has been given games at United all be it limited in number and regularly substituted when he has played. Despite the limited number of minutes and clear mistrust from the manager he has managed to be our second highest scorer this year.

Just imagine what he would achieve if the managed backed him and played him regularly we might have had two players with 20+ goals, he'll we might have even challenged City for the title with an extra 10 goals or so.

Good post that Kenedy. You got to look at both sides. If a player is unhappy and wants to move elsewhere for his development then we should wish him the best of luck and move on.

If martial is sulking and not trying etc like is stated above why has he been offered a new contract?

Kdb didn't want to work?

Agree8 Disagree9

25 Apr 2018 12:59:15
Itā€™s not that clear cut, KDB had some attitude issues and expected first team football, whereas Salah was behind Hazard and Willian. However, it is quite clear that Jose prefers older players who are less likely to make mistakes. If we look at the ā€˜first choiceā€™ team for big games in recent weeks, Lukaku is the youngest player, and heā€™ll be 25 next month. Itā€™s not that Jose doesnā€™t play younger players, itā€™s more that he doesnā€™t trust them in the biggest games.

Personally I donā€™t think Jose likes to build for the future, and the young players he sold like KDB, Salah, and even Lukaku, are sacrifices he is willing to make in the name of short term success.

Is martial our 2nd top scorer this season?

Agree6 Disagree2

25 Apr 2018 13:38:02
I think Martial wants to play regularly, The club wants him to stay and offered him new contract, refused it and wants out, what would the club do? Let him go that's only the way.
He is talented no doubt but doesn't see future at Utd.

Agree3 Disagree1

25 Apr 2018 14:35:33
This is the reason why we are miles behind City . With players like Martial being our second top scorer. Smalling, Jones and Young in defence.

Even Matic doesn't click it for he looks a tad slow and is getting on.

Unless we improve on these positions ww are still going to be second or even worse next year.

City is looking at some good players such as Dybala and Isco and if they get those two along with Jorginho we are going to need massive upgrades unless you guys are happy to wait for the players mentioned to suddenly turn their careers upside down or be happy with City winning the title next year.

Unless they change the rules so City can field 18 players every game, and keep the rest of their stars happy who still can't get a game, I'd not be getting my knickers in a twist just yet about what and how many world stars they're going to buy this summer.

Agree2 Disagree0

25 Apr 2018 17:57:56
Dybala will be good in a attacking team. A team that has most of the possesion and loves to attack is completely different to playing for Juventus.

25 Apr 2018 18:12:34
Silva, Fernandinho and yaya toure are going to be moving on so there will be space for a few players.

Agree0 Disagree5

25 Apr 2018 18:25:15
Silva is going to be moved on? One of their key players, and close to their best 5his season.

Fernandinho too, another key player for them.

Regardless, Dybala is completely inconsistent and would be in competition with B Silva, KDB, Sterling, and Sane for a place in the team. A player whose hype far outweighs his ability to produce.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - Silva wants to go home to be with his young child who has been seriously ill. They will badly miss him as he is the key to their team.}

25 Apr 2018 18:38:58
KDB and lukaku, it's been well documented why they left Chelsea by ed002. That want down to Jose, so that argument to me is null and void.

Jose clearly likes players who work very hard for the team, plenty of times I've seen martial walk around, so there is an issue with that side of his game. No doubt he is a very good player could potentially be much better but Jose likes what Jose likes and it has worked, clearly, with the amount of trophies he has to his name.

Martial is not the 2nd highest scorer, I think that's lingard, and that's a player, who has the attitude and work ethic, that every united forward should aspire to have.

25 Apr 2018 18:42:56

I didnā€™t realise that Ed. Been one of the best players here over the last decade, City will struggle without him.

Amazing player Siva. i'm very sorry to hear that ed its been out of the press to a large degree obviously.
He seems like a really decent chap a bit like mata.

I think Martial must be a complete thicko. He plays for a manager who requires a high work rate. He doesn't put in a shift. He doesn't get picked. I mean, wow. connect the dots Anthony!

To my mind, any player who gives less effort than Sanchez or Kante is not doing their job properly. Imagine how good Martial could be if he played with the intensity and desire of Sanchez. Imagine how good Pogba could be if he put in the same shift as Kante. (Sorry for using the P word) .

Lazy players are a scourge. They're unreliable and their poor attitude is infectious and causes resentment. There's a reason Salah has been so good and it's because he works really hard both on and off the ball and so he makes things happen because of it. Martial will never be that good because it takes effort and he can't be bothered.

Agree1 Disagree0

26 Apr 2018 10:41:52
Top post MancMan. Canā€™t argue with any of that. If he puts a shift in he will get picked itā€™s simple as that. He has all the talent in the world and imagine what sort of player he could become. Itā€™s not difficult. Heā€™s at a great club, under a very good manager and he has he opportunity to have regular football. So frustrating because all he needs to do is apply himself and put a shift in. Working hard should be the minimum requirement for any footballer. You are not going to get it served on a plate for you.

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Apr 2018 10:52:52
People on here want us to play with a high intensity and press like city and Liverpool do yet they want martial in the team, a guy that it seems like he hardly wants to do any of the defensive work to play in a system like that. Lingard, rashford and Sanchez all put in a massive shift defensively.

If we can get a decent price for martial and a replacement player that is equal or better than why not let him go?

Agree1 Disagree1

26 Apr 2018 15:04:55

Salah been amazing this season is everyone talking about his tracking back? Works hard but in the right areas .

It's a bad thing when their fans are making the headlines ed.
Some boy from Ireland and his brother travelled over to watch the game and the one of them ends up in hospital, probably saving up for a while and excited to go over and watch their team play.
Disgraceful.

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - Roma? This is commonplace with them. I remember they were vicious in Rome towards Man Utd and Spurs fans in recent years. They were the same back in '84, which is why I never wanted Liverpool to get them.}

25 Apr 2018 10:09:05

Says a lot when you can get a scooter into the stands. Mind you can the same about Figo's pigs head.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - that is different as a pig's head is not an unusual object for a Spaniard to carry around. It is a bit like having your shopping and lobbing a tin of beans on.}

Would you take one to a football match?
