Oh Liverpool fans are on here, we must be doing well, fantastic. I think we will win more than them this season after they shunned the fa cup.

26 Jan 2019 02:52:34
He's doing a great job of man management. I think it's quite easy to forget the impact Mike Phelan has had to the team and style of play.

I appreciate Ole has done a fantastic job, but he's not done it by himself and I think his job would have been a lot harder without Phelan around.

Mighty Red - the table can only turn when you lot win something.

And there in lies the problem.

The pressure will really be on if you miss out this year, that will be a 30 year anniversary! Something to celebrate I guess.

Agree4 Disagree1

26 Jan 2019 07:00:59
Kurtis - you/ we really have no way of knowing who is having the most influence, so you canā€™t make a claim like that. It may be Phelan, it may be Carrick growing into the role it may all be down to Ole. We canā€™t know that unless weā€™re there to see the day to day activities and interactions.
Players are commenting on Oleā€™s influence though.
One thing is for certain. They are doing a brilliant job as a Manager/ Coaching staff. Long may it continue.

Mighty reds back again? What a joke. Resurface only when under threat. Say what you want but you know you are soiling in your pants.
Sure scousers doing well. Still behind us in titles even if you have it this year. Better lock it else it may be at least another decade or two before you challenge or win another title. However much as I hate to say I still think City have the edge on you.

I thought ole got his tactics spot on. Knows that coalsack pushes up too far and leaves space behind and got lukaku to sit in the space and attack it and it worked perfectly. Then second half the subs meant as it became more open chances were there for quick breaks.

That was just classic United tonight. Lukaku was very good and played his role well. Great to see Sanchez back in the goals and I thought he was decent tonight. The back 4 looked a lot better, Lindelof as I've said down the page is starting to look a proper player. Very calm, the whole team is looking like a unit again.

8 from 8 including wins away at spurs and arsenal. Fair play ole!

For once I'm not going to utter one word of criticism for this team. Played great. Stepped up and battled for the club and the fans. It almost felt like an old classic utd-arse match, in that case only the result and the pride in the badge matters.

They all passed with flying colours.

Bloody brilliant! Chuffed for Lukaku and Sanchez. Fully deserved. And we didnā€™t sit back and protect our lead. Brought martial and rashford on and the bold substitutions paid dividends. 8 in 8 now for ole. Iā€™m leaning towards him now. Have a great weekend all.

Quite refreshing to see 2 attacking substitutions to go and kill the game off opposed to bring on defenders to see the game out. Great performance Shaw and lindelof especially.

Also Romero save shouldn't go unnoticed could of easily been a different game had that gone in.

It was a vintage performance by our recent standards of the last few years. I feel we had them rattled once we started knocking off their centre backs though! Great attacking play for the most part. I did notice Pogba not making much of an effort at times: he needs to come looking for the ball, in order to help his teammates and get on the ball. Good result! Well done the lads!

25 Jan 2019 23:09:53
Ahh mighty reds is back. Its funny how rival fans come onto this page when we start to look more like the old united. Downplaying ya because they are starting to get fearful that we are coming back. We arenā€™t there yet but huge improvements.

Might red, You guys have won anything in over a decade. Even in our worst period we have one more than you. Still lots of the league left to play. Seems some scousers are celebrating already. Pressure is a funny thing. And Liverpool have shown in recent years they donā€™t have the bottle when it comes to it.

Bailly and lindloff were top. Love herrera.

Bailly looks a bit shaky on the ball. A couple of times when they passed back to him and he was the last man, he looked like he might fluff it up.

25 Jan 2019 23:12:03
Think that comes with games Arnie. Heā€™s confidence has been shot a bit by Jose this season. Thereā€™s a player in there for sure. The biggest compliment I can give bailly tonight is that I hardly notice him. He put his head down and did the basics really well and got on with his game. If Iā€™m correct him and lindelof has 100% tackles and interceptions tonight. Lots of potential.

Even tho were winning why is it every time the opposite team attack I've got to change my boxers šŸ˜€šŸ˜€ and I love the way lingard always sticks up for Rashford.

Believable6 Unbelievable0

25 Jan 2019 22:19:13
Arsenal created two chances bar the goal. I thought we were very good defensively tonight. Shaw wasnā€™t excellent and bailly grew in confidence. Special mention for Victor Lindelof. He looks a player. Hopefully get him a settled parter.

Interesting team choices. No rashford but rom and sanchez.

Bailly and lindelof needs to work and i strongly believe that bailly is a very very good cb and can become the player we crave for.

Believable4 Unbelievable0

25 Jan 2019 18:55:51
Agreed. He was our best cb for a while. Anyone who only got worse whilst under jose gets a temporary pass from me. That guy is poison. I want to see what Bailly can do now that he isn't under Jose's influence.

25 Jan 2019 19:06:06
Yes redD.

I love a proper cb old school/ traditional defender. But he is tto clumsy and needs to refine his game.

I'd be gutted if I was sanchez. Finally gets a start and instead of the movement of rashford and martial, he has to deal with lukaku and the ball bouncing off him.

Marcus Rashford

{Ed's Note - Ed001 has posted a new player profile about, Marcus Rashford

Believable3 Unbelievable0

25 Jan 2019 15:14:05
Great article ed. You seem to rate rashford very highly. Iā€™m a massive fan and think he can be very special. I do think martial is more talented but rashfordā€™s application gives him the edge for me at this current moment. You are spot on about his somewhat lack of ability to take instructions. Perhaps thatā€™s down to playing under Jose/ lvg where the teams have been more rigid and defensively orientated. Under an attacking manager I hope to see his tactics understanding improve leaps and bounds.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I think Rashford is much more talented personally, but Martial is much more clinical. They make a good pairing. I really rate Rashford a lot. I believe he is already close to special personally.}

25 Jan 2019 15:25:32
The big question is, can he take it to the next level? Can he be a guaranteed 25/ 30 goal a season player? Under Jose he was missing 1v1 chances quite regularly. Under Ole he seems to have his mojo back. But which one is the real Rashford? Somewhere in between I'd imagine.

The negatives in his game that he will try to beat a player 2 or 3 times. In his first year he was very direct and in worked in spades, now he slows down the play before taking on a defender, almost in a cocky way. And someone needs to reef him off taking free kicks. Other than that, the boy has the footballing world at his feet!

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Jan 2019 16:43:08
Theres only really been two brief periods where he has played up top for a significant period of time, when he burst onto the scene in february under lvg till the end of that season (15/ 16) and this season under ole (7 games)

The rest of his time at united he has to play left wing or back up to zlatan or lukaku.

Stick him up top for a whole season and back him to be the main man and i am sure he will be a regular 20-25 goal a season striker.

Agree1 Disagree0

25 Jan 2019 17:01:29
Ed,

Where do you see Lukaku fit into all of this.

Id rather let Martial and Rashford fight it out for strikers position.

Do you think Lukaku will be happy to play second fiddle to Martial and Rashford? .

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I think Lukaku is not good enough but he will never be happy being a back up as he believes he is world class when he is far from it. Get rid.}

25 Jan 2019 17:11:36
That is exactly how i feel about him. He doesn't suit the way we want to play and we would have to play to his strength for us to get the best out of him.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Jan 2019 18:36:03
Rashford is the future if we want to play fast offensive football. Lukaku is a perfect professional, yet I doubt he'll settle for being second choice. I suspect he'll leave, but probably not until the end of next season.

Agree2 Disagree1

25 Jan 2019 18:46:54
We had 2 very very promising youngsters yet chose to spend Ā£75M on a striker when we desperately needed to strengthen the defence and enhance the midfield. Madness.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Jan 2019 19:19:34
We then spent Ā£X million on Fred when we could have soent that to buy a competent centre back. Comedy of errors.

Agree1 Disagree0

25 Jan 2019 22:33:47
Ed001 very good assessment.
I thin k his tactical awareness as well as his decision making will improve with experience.
At 21 he has had a huge amount of top class exposure. I both those aspects of his game should improve with time and make him a much more rounded player.
The same applies to martial. I think he is selfish and often ignores runners over lappers and his concentration is bad. At this point a better and more clinical finisher than rash but i'd back rashford to become the better and far more effective player over the next 10 years.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I agree with you. Rashford has so much potential it is scary.}

Iā€™m not that worried about the result as long as we continue to attack and play the United way. Iā€™d love to win but away at the Gooners is never straight forward. Perhaps weā€™ll have a man sent off, save a penalty in the last minute and then win it with a wonder goal.

Should be a good game full of goals, both teams good going forward both not great at the back (bar DDG) I might plump for a high scoring draw, 2-2, 3-3 hopfully as a neutral.
