Gary Neville raves about the twins when we bought the, but they never lived up to the hype. I loved Rafael but we was rash and has found his level, his brother who was more highly rated initially has never progressed to where we thought he could.

He did play and act as though he loved the club and you can never have enough players with that type of passion in a squad-was always a happy little fella too.

But I often wondered how good his translator was when shouts of "back off. he is going nowhere" from the bench were translated in his head as "thats right, just there above the knee"

Used to have a little ginger kid playing in midfield who loved to jump into tackles, his Irish mate was pretty ball hungry too. They both took a few red cards and suspensions.

They also had a quite a public row on the pitch against palace last game of 16/ 17 when Bailly was injured and Jose forced him Back on the pitch. Jose had made two very early first half subs and clearly wanted to bring on Gomes to (presumably show he gives kids a chance) it happened right in front of my seat and Bailly was majorly pissed off and Jose was furious with him. Not sure if anyone recalls the incident. Anyway It doesn’t appear that they’ve seen eye to eye since.

If we signed rebic and maguire to play rw and cb respectively would people be happy with those signings.

Personally i'd rather go with the current squad we've got.

Good question DSG.
A straight forward answer will be no, I won't be happy with that.
However, nowadays we tend to look at how much some players cost, what their ages are and what roles they will play before making up our minds.
Will I be happy with a vocal 25 year old CB who is taller than all our other CBs? As an initial squad player yes at a good price.
Will I be happy with a 24 year old Rebic to play a position that has been vacant for far too long? Again at cheap price why not however I will be mindful of what SAF said about signing players based on International Tournament form.

Signings need to be quality. If we can't get first choice then go with what we've got and use the youth. If we don't win anything at least we bring the youngsters on and the experience will help.

Rebic looks very ordinary, no pace, no creativity but thankfully for Jose he is a work horse and will track back. The guy was worth a fraction of what he is now prior to the world cup and he did very little IMO to have seen his value inflate as much as it has.
Maguire I'm on the fence about I don't think he actually reads the game very well but he is good in the air and can be dangerous from set pieces, worth £65m though?

I think Rebic is very good and was a good player well before the World Cup where I think he wasn’t actually as good as he can be. Would be a good signing but some wouldn’t like it because he isn’t a big name and hasn’t been linked for 5 years.

I agree Beast, Young struggled for pace and stamina against Croatia. If England would have got through that game though Mbappe would have ended Young's career.

TOT66,not sure about ended youngs career. Only have to look at how young kept salah in his pocket all game last season. Still think if we can sign a world class left back then we must, but still hoping for Shaw to kick on now this year. People seem to forget he had a really bad break 2 years ago. He does look in better shape now, and hopefully mentally he can improve.
