City were not prepared to give into alexis sanchez and his wage demands as they feared it set a benchmark for their other players to demand which would be unsustainable.

Now we face a situation where herrera could leave for psg who will offer him more money. David de gea has not signed a new contract as he wants parity on what sanchez is earning.

Worst signing the club has ever made all things considered?

Worst signing ever might be a bit of hyperbole. But he certainly wasn't a smart signing. But then which signings have been great under Ed Woodward?

The issue with wages is more to do with the club being "maxed out" within FFP regulations. So the club need to reduce the wage bill before we can add to it. Ergo we need to sell players and cut the wages before new contracts and new signings can be made.

Yeah, seems to be basically that we need to get rid of a hundred grand a week player to be able to offer both Herrera and De Gea fifty grand extra each.

At least we got an expert in his field in Ed dealing with the finances.

Rojo, Darmian, Valencia should free up a bit but only ones confirmed so far. Either have to pay off Sanchez or maybe a shock departure.

The worst thing about watching England is the sycophantic, over the top ass kissing from the commentators.

Well, being Welsh it pains me to say, and I know it’s not the highest or calibre teams, but England look good, could be the best chance for them coming up this next few years.

25 Mar 2019 22:30:18
Yeah, but 10 goals in two games is pretty good. Even against relatively poor opposition. These are the games England used to struggle to a 1-0 win or claim a 1-1 draw as good result.

Building in reaching a WC semi, we have some very good players, there is a lot to be excited about.

I always hope the home nations do well, even England 😁 I understand it's the largest nation in the union, which brings with it the resultant media attention, but the commentators/ pundits can make it really difficult sometimes to get behind the team. I just turn down the volume and enjoy the game. Another good result last night, and they seem to certainly be heading in the right direction.

Frankly I have not watched much of Sancho or Odoi, but the frenzy about them has caught my attention. One question for all that have seen them play, are they a better option than bringing Depay back?

Both seem to do a better job on the right wing than Depay.

Sancho seems great but I wouldn't underestimate the affect of playing in Germany out of the spot light.

Not seen enough of CHA looks a talented player but very young.

Depay has improved dramatically since he moved, did we have some sort of clause to buy him back? If we do I'd take him back, he was the right player but at the wrong time. He would fit into this style 100%.

No doubt Depay has improved since his move to Lyon. But has he improved dramatically or has a run of games in a comparatively weaker league enable him to find his best form?

I wonder if he would be able to perform to the same standard in the EPL at a club that is constantly playing under the spotlight of the world's press.

Great players have struggled under the weight of the United shirt playing in the unforgiving EPL.

I think he is an excellent player, but I question whether he has the mentality and attitude to make it at a top club.

I think we should look towards other players now and let Memphis seek out the right career path for him.

Thought Depay played on the left wing?

To me Sancho and Odois work ethic and image alone would be tempting rather than Depay who just wants to be famous and extravagant.

Shappy, same way we can't be sure either Sancho or Odoi won't struggle with the weight of donning the Utd shirt. To be fair, Depay has also been good for his national team not just lyon.

The Eds did say the move was too soon for Depay, add that with the number 7 Jersey, and you get double the pressure. Even Valencia with his experience at utd could not handle that pressure. Perhaps now with a bit more maturity he can fill slot back in.

You are right Steve, Depay is predominantly a LW as is Odoi, Sancho though seems more of a RW.

Just to weigh in on this as a Chelsea fan who's seen nearly all of Callum's minutes for the first team.

He was thought of as a left winger purely to start the season, but he's looked as electric, if not more on the right where he's less eager to cut inside and instead utilise the space on the flank.

Sign both, gives plenty of options. Move on Liberace and Mata.

Sancho and Hudson-Odoi would both be able to take the pressure of being at Utd. They are class acts that are well above their years in terms of development.
To think that Sancho had the intuition to leave a PL side and then go to Germany and make a success of his early career speaks volumes. Hudson-Odoi wants to do the same. Neither player was phased by playing for England the other night.
You can always say that buying any player is a risk but with the right manager and players in the squad to help these young players there is no problem.
Anyway Utd have tried the proven pro in Sánchez and look at what that has provided.
I would take either of these without any hesitation.

I posted about these two young players and it went on the discussion page. Odoi and Sancho are very young but look high potential. I would prefer those two to Bale and Griezmann for example, but whether the decision maker at the club will think so is what matters. Bale has had a number of chances, so enough of chasing him. Sancho and Odoi is risky but I think has a potential high upside.

Names like bale sell papers but I think we will buy young this year .
That said people like there star names.

No chance Chelsea will let odoi go to United, I wouldn't be surprised if we got Sancho tho .

We have some good young players at the club but people always want to buy established names .

Can you imagine the uproar on the site last January if we had of thrown a couple of mill at sancho and not gone the "extra mile " for Sanchez when he was available?

Can you imagine the uproar if we didn't buy griezmann but gave a player like Chong a chance?
Would people really give these young lads a chance to develop, learn the game have dips in form?
It was only a few month ago people wanted rid of shaw and martial, look at the stick rash was getting .

That was when we were losing our identity. People have started to remember what United are about. I think most people would give them time. There'll always be the odd cabbage who wants everything now. After all Sanchez has proven such a hit.

Cool down buddy. Things don't move along on an hourly or daily basis. I am pretty sure you will find updates dated within this month so you will be fairly up to date. Transfers generally are long process not an overnight thing. We, along with several other clubs, have looked at the players you've listed but their clubs want large sums of money to sell them so if they were to move it would take a bit of negotiating on the behalf of buying club. Or massively overpay.

Transfers don't move along in the way media's make them seem to be with "red alert" and sh#t like that.
