i think the question is do we bring pogba and morrison into the squad to try and freshen it up and if so at the expense of who and do we bring berd back into the starting 11 i know not everybody is a fan but we are missing a bit of creativity could this be the perfect time to bring him back ,when his got a point to prove i think he gives us something different to anyone else on the bench

You mock #ags RFT, for saying Pogba,Morrison and Cleverly played well against Aldershot, you said this

'Really we were playing Aldershot, get a grip. They are all promising but lets look who they were playing against. I am more interested to hear from all you Berba haters as he showed what class he really is. RAINFISHTROMBONE'

Can't you see what you've did here? You mock #ags on how it was only Aldershot, and now you want the masses to get off Berbanob's back, because he 'showed what class he really is'. Was Berbanob not ALSO playing against Aldershot?

I apologise RFT, for saying Berbanob was sh*t. He would be the best player in League 1, no probs.

Well that was an interesting match, i thought Berbatov and Valencia stood out best of the older players. Both look hungery and sharp. Owen got his goal as always. But Park looked very shakey at times, based on that performance he could well be moved on in the summer. Diouf looked lost amoung alot of first teamers, i think his fate will lie elsewhere. Which is a shame but he really needed to grap this chance with both hands but with at least 5 players ahead of him i think he needs to move on. My god what a great site it was to see Cleverley back, he oozed class with every touch, by far our best midfielder.

Now moving on to the youngsters(which is the bit were all most interested in).
I thought Fryers was outstanding again and has to be given some games in the prem to see how he handles them, as he is ready for a bigger challenge than reserve level can offer him. I'd even consider giving him a game at Everton on saturday, had it been at Old Trafford then he'd be a certain starter.
Pogba took a few minutes to settle and had a couple of rash challenges to start with, but once he settled he was neat and tidy with his passing, strong in the tackle, had an excellent work rate and towards the end started to move forward more. He needs to be playing a higher standard of football IMO, i feel more reserve team football will just hold him back now. He needs to either get game time with us or go to a premier league team on loan for experiance(he's too good for championship). I'd start putting him on the bench for easier games and bring him on after 60-70mins to ease him into the team. It was a shame that him and Cleverley weren't on the pitch at the same time as i feel they could work very well together.
Morrison showed some very good touches and wasn't afraid to give them a go. I feel a loan to a EPL team would be best for him though as he needs game time and to grow up as a person. I'd send him to Wigan, they try to play good football and it's close enough to keep an eye on him.

The line up i'd love to see on saturday would be:

_____________De Gea_____________
________Smalling___Vidic__________
_Fabio____________________Fryers_
________________________________
_________Cleverley_Jones__________
Valencia____________________Young
_____________Rooney_____________
_____________Welbeck____________

Subs: Lindegaard, Ferdinand, Evra, Pogba, Fletcher, Nani, Hernandez

I sit here smiling at the prospect of watching Ravel Morrison, Paul Pogba and Tom Cleverley play for us for years to come. Tonight has actually cheered me up big time after Sunday, watching Morrison effortlessly sweep the ball around and cause all sorts of problems for Adlershot. Pogba was very good tonight, didn't seem as nervous as he was at Leeds. Cleverley played well and should be back in the team on Saturday. I know it's only Aldershot, but in Cleverley, Morrison and Pogba, we may have the next Xavi, Iniesta and Busquets.

Berbatov was very impressive tonight, and I would feel much more comfortable if Zeki Fryers was playing ahead of Evra from now on. Vidic seems a little rash at the moment and Fabio needs to gain match fitness. Owen did well and Valencia was very good. Park and Diouf weren't too shabby either. And in Ben Amos, we have a very capable goalkeeper. All in all, a very good night, and reason to be optimistic.

For the first time in YEARS, our central midfield today made me smile! Cleverley, Pogba and Morrison all looked great on the ball and creative when going forward. We all know of Cleverley's ability, but after tonight, I don't think Pogba or Morrison are too far away either! Come on Fergie, make some brave decisions and drop the under performing old-guard!

I dont care how young and "inexperienced" they are, Pogba and Morrison deserve more first team game time.

Tonight pogba has played some good passes, made some good tackles, tracked back well and kept possession well for his age. He also has good composure on the ball.

Morrison has got good pace, made some decent passes and has good technical ability. Loved the little flick pass on the edge of the box.

Well played to both of them. Berba was outstanding tonight, Valencia and Park impressed me aswell considering there lack of action this season. As did young Zeki Fryers, really speedy and not bad at defending to say he is fast.

Future is bright, but for me Pogba should be getting more chances as should Morrison and Fryers. Hopefully they will get the game time.

So now we know the SAF mindset.

The youth like Pogba and Morrison cant even get a game against Aldershot. The reason is the experienced players need games before Europe. So why Diouf? If you watch the reserves he is hardly pushing for a place.

Mike the Moston red got it right. We need an assistant Manager who can give SAF a kick on nights like this. If I was Pogba and dont get at least a half I would be off as well.

What is it about both SAF and Wenger who both wont buy the obvious players for positions desperately needed?

Why do we have to go for a player only when the big 10 in Europe goes for them? We're interested in all the good players in the world, but mst of the time we only go for them when other teams shows interest. We should do exactly when we bought Nani, Nistelrooy and others. Right nw is just complicated when you have a lot of teams competing for the same player, since we can't compete with high wages and fees. If we want worldclass players we must fight for them or end up with none. Those guys are professional and they'll always look for attractive salaries and club projects.

We need to spend to have a good team. The truth is, our academy players are not enough talented to compete against Messi, CR7, Xavi and others for the C.L or even for the P.L.

I think SAF should play Ezekiel Fryers today at LB and then if he performs well he should be given a start against Everton(Osman/Coleman are not the trickiest of wingers).

Evra,Rio anyway arent performing well,Evans is on a red and Fabio should be played at RB.

Nani----Clevs----Jones----Young

I've got a question for you or anybody else how do we know how much sneijder was asking for has there been a statement released by either club or the player as to what his wage demands were or is it just hearsay
sneijder gave an interview last week to della sport in which he said he was told he would have to be sold as inter needed the money and that united were intreasted and that it looked like the deal would go through but then anzi came in for eto inter had the money they needed and told him they were now not willing to sell him
now if you think back to the summer it did sound as if a deal was on the cards right up untill the point anzi made a surprise move for eto so to me that sounds possible

Is the end of the world nigh or something? Yes we lost heavily, yes it is embarrassing and yes we wont hear the end of it for the next 20 years but lets be clear, we had the better of possession despite being 1-0 down and the sending off was a game changer. The worst time it couldve happened was just after half time. We pushed on and got 1 goal back, saw some light at the end of the tunnel (stranger things have happened), got sloppy and seemingly gave up the ghost. There is no point focusing on the negatives and ignoring the positives. SAF will do that himself Im sure and work on tighting up the defence. We clearly still need to improve the central midfield but Im sure that will happen sooner rather than later. We have a very young group of players who were part of a 29 match unbeaten home record and perhaps they started to take results at OT as a given? This result will make sure that doesnt happen again any time soon. This is a massive learning experience for the younger lads and they will grow as players much more from this 1 defeat than winning 10 games on the bounce.

we need a midfield general like robbo or keano. Not an out an out dm but able to tackle and pass. Chip in with a couple of games. But mainly someone to organise the team and drag them on. Not a ranter but someone who will tell the likes of evra to get back. A leader. Worthy of the armband. Who?

Just out of interest, how do the rest of you rate Evra ? Personally, I think :
1. weak defensively as he's regularly caught out of position
2. good at charging forward but end product is poor i.e. quality of crossing etc
3. rarely scores

Feel we could do better here.

And to state the bleeding obvious - we need quality in centre midfield NOW !! Anderson/Carrick/Fletcher would not get near the first team at Barca/R, Madrid/Chelsea/s**tty.

Molde have the chance of being at old trafford next season as they will qualify for Europe if they successed in winning the norwegian title

Am seething from the result at the weekend, but none the less i walked home after wearing my red shirt with pride, this should be classed as the wake up call we needed, a big loss has been on the cards for some time now, this was evident against chelsea, basel and norwich recently,

we all know we are lacking in midfield, realistically we need 2 world class elite midfielders and a world class striker to get anywhere near the worlds elite again anytime soon.

i remain on the fence about our defence as its clear to see the talent we have there, albeit rio's and evras bad form of late, the twins and vidic hopefully be back soon to tighten the back 4 up

only a select few players could come in and give us the impact and fear factor required

sneijder
ozil
goetze
kaka
schweinsteiger etc

i am and always will be fully behind my team and our youth poilicy is second to none, i am in no way a glory hunter but the club really could use a 'household' superstar in their team to crank up the performances.

also neymar or higuan would be my first choices as a new striker

Sydney,

To what you were saying yesterday about me thinking Chelsea are better than us, well bar 3 players they ARE better than us (those being Rooney, Vidic and Nani).

I admit last season they weren't exactly great, but that's last season, and i'm talking about this season. yes they lost to QPR and yes we beat them, but the fact is they are playing better than us, looking more convincing than us and now seem to be a better team as well as better individually.

I have an obsession with Chelsea? not at all.

I just don't run around with United tinted specs all the time, they are a superb team, with a great young manager. At this precise moment in time, Chelsea look as if they'll finish 2nd and we'll finish 3rd, and that's exactly how I see it panning out.

Sydney, If you take off your United tinted specs for 5 seconds you'll see that Chelsea are miles above us. Ask any Pundit, Fan, Player, etc. and they'll all tell you the same thing.

Chelsea have a stronger spine, better forwards (as a group), a MUCH stronger midfield and a very strong back 4.

Not to mention a reasonably strong Goalkeeper.

This may sound like I'm belittling United, but I'm really not trying too. we are a good team, I just don't think we're good enough at the moment. I also don't think we're going to have a terrible season.

I'm saying that out of all the teams in the world that stand a chance of beating Barcelona you have 4, or 6 with a greater chance than us in my opinion. (Real, Bayern, City, Chelsea and Milan & Inter) - However that is my OPINION.

To me, United have been VERY arrogant for the past year, we've massively lacked discipline in EVERY area of the pitch, every player does what he/she wants, (E.G - Jones wanders where he wants, Anderson is always caught out of position, as is Evra, Rooney - albeit he's got a free role, etc.).

The commentator in the Gatali got it spot on. "We're waiting around waiting for something to happen" - We're Manchester United, fair enough. but to EXPECT to win every game without doing anything isn't only disrespectful but very, very arrogant.

We need to sort ourselves out, and we need to do it quickly. whether you agree with my opinion or not. you cannot not deny that so far this season we have not looked liked champions at all.

The Moon.

why are people constantly saying gary cahill as fourth choice centre back? The guy is trying to grab the vacant centre back place for england that rio's decline has created. To get on that plane he needs to be playing regular. Do you really think he's going to come to united and be fourth choice behind two young lads like jones and smalling? If we were to sign him, and i doubt we're interested, he'd want to be first choice. Besides in terms of defensive signings a left back is higher priority once we get midfield sorted

A point about the City game. Last year, for the big games towards the end of the season both Park and Valencia were automatic choices. Both are responsible defensively, with Park tucking in to make 3 in midfield when the opposition are in possession. I think these players give us a far more solid looking team from a defensive viewpoint. Playing both Nani and Young together, albeit excellent attacking players, I think leaves our full-backs more exposed, and our midfield out-numbered against the very best teams when they are in possession.
Just a thought.

There's only one conclusion that needs to be drawn from yesterday - £500m will guarantee any club success in football. It's just a shame it has taken the footballing authorities so long to recognise this as cheating.

It amazes me that the media are so pleased about Man City's predictable success. If a 100m sprinter won gold and was later found to have been using performance enhancing drugs, would you admire him for how fast he ran? Man City are cheats, they're just benefitting from the fact that rules haven't been in place to punish their particular form of cheating until now.

It also amazes me how short-sighted their fans are. City will probably find a way to meet the FFP obligations, but it's going to involve increasing ticket prices to the highest in world football... something to look forward to.

Well it has finally happened, someone has given us a good hiding, yeah it was Citeh, but could have been any of the top teams. That result has been coming for about 12 months now, I went to the CL Final fearing a similar drubbing, thankfully Barca weren't as clinical. Any truthful supporter will admit to walking away from OT over the past 12 months asking how we ever won that game, not sure how we did it but we did. Many people have mentioned the Newcastle and Soton defeats, but sadly this team has no where near the talent as the team that suffered those defeats so I am not expecting a similar response, this time it feels like we have been found out. I think this is Fergies biggest test since he broke his duck with his first EPL title.

Where do we go from here, I'm not sure Fergie has too many options until January, but here are some thoughts:

GK - No problem there, De Gea will be fine
LB - sorry Pat, even as one of my favourites you have to be dropped. Too many goals have come down the left, you seem to have forgotten how to defend and just don't seem interested in running back. Fabio is the natural replacement, only concern is his inability to complete 90 mins.
CB - Vidic is a definite starter, his partner should be Rio or Smalling. I know Rio has struggled a bit but he would be fine with Vidic and Smalling is more composed than Jones.
RB - Spoilt for choice, we have Jones, Smalling and Raphael when fit, so any one of those could start.
LM - Young has been great, so he is in and when needed we have Giggsy or even Pat to come in, at least we won't have to rely on Pat's defending.
CM - You either like him or hate him but I would go with Carrick to give some protection for the back four, the game is too open at the moment and Sunday highlighted this. Jones could well do this role, but he seems to lack a bit of discipline in his positional game, only to be expected of a 19 yr old. I would also go with either Fletch or Cleverley, not really seen enough of Cleverley in the EPL to be sure of how he will fare over the season, but he deserves a chance. We then have the likes of Ando, Park, or Giggsy to help out.
RM - I'm not sure here as Nani is so in and out that he frustrates me 3 games out of 4 and then he has a great performance. Valencia is no where near as flambuoyant and is more steady so over to you Fergie on this one.
Strikers - An in form Rooney is a definite starter but he just doesn't look happy, I'm not convinced he will be here much longer. When we are playing well he looks great, when we are struggling like Sunday he is no where to be seen, his head is down and is likely to get booked or sent off. That said he is our one world class palyer so he is in. His partner should be Chico, maybe hard on Welbeck but Chico is a better goalscorer. Welebeck was the only player on Sunday not to give up, chasing everything for 90 mins, well done son.
Hopefully that will get us through to January when we HAVE to invest in at least 2 midfielders. Then in close season another couple of signings to balance the squad with the players coming through following this major clear out; Owen / Berba / Macheda / Diouf / Ando / Park / Carrick / Valencia / Gibson / Evans / Evra / Rio and Giggsy (Retires).

Like I said, a massive test for Fergie, but he has proved people wrong many times before and I wouldn't want anyone else in charge during this difficult time.

One positive from Sunday, if we do start to falter then it will force the Yanks out as their investment value will fall.

We have to wonder after the Man City result whether Fergie is up to it anymore. The likes of Cleverley, Gibson, Berba, Ferdinand, Macheda, Fletcher, Evans and Evra are either disinterested or not up to it anymore. A central midfielder should have been bought in the summer and we're all seeing the consequences of that now.
Despite his recent record, Steve McClaren could be the man to turn things around - a year with him and Fergie together and then the ex-England manager taking the reins full-time.

Can anyone enlighten me as to why Evra keeps being named team captain? The guy has been god-awful all season - he is always out of position defensively and hardly ever provides a half-decent cross when going forward. I would rather see Valencia at left-back every week than Evra.
