With interest in both players who would ye rather see come in or think is most likely to come in if any between will hughes and Ross Barkley?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I would personally prefer Hughes, I think Powell and Barkley are very similar players and IMO Powell has more talent.

You guys read Mike Phelans comments recently?

Ferguson & Gill had their eyes on one of the absolute best players on the planet.

He said its clear who he's talking about.

I can only think of Ronaldo, perhaps Bale but I personally think it was Ronaldo.

Thanks.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I don't think it was either. Ronaldo stated he would want to end his career at Madrid and Bale said it was always going to be Madrid. So I think it was possibly Fabregas or someone Else we were unaware was on the Radar.

Agree0 Disagree0

1) I think Phelan was talking rubbish as per usual.

2) If he is telling the truth, then the only real possibility would be Lewandowski.

Ed do you know anything about a reported new tie up with Nike? Daily Mail says 75m a year for 5 years where its 60m a year fixed and 15m a year with some sort of sales agreement. {Ed002's Note - THis is not a new thing, and your description is a great simplification of a more complex agreement.}

If we wanted to play Kagawa in the no.10 pos, how would DM position RVP and Rooney? I think we could consider to get RVP on the LW with Rooney at the top. Never tried, so why not give it a go? Must be better than playing young.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Play our best player out of position?

Agree0 Disagree0

4321, 4132, 41221 however you want to put it it shouldn't be too difficult for any good manager to accomodate 3 versatile attacking players.

Agree0 Disagree0

Rooney is are best player

Why do so many people have this obsession with the "10" position, and that the "10" player, whoever he may be, must stick to a central position behind a central striker? When Rooney plays that role he is all over the pitch. I'm even boring myself saying the same thing all the time, but players like Rooney and Kagawa CAN play together. They SHOULD play together. Its like saying Xavi, Iniesta and Messi are too similar so shouldn't play in the same team. Good technical players need other good technical players around the. Lots of people say we shouldn't play Kagawa because we don't have other good technical players to play with him. Rubbish! Rooney, Nani, RVP, Januzaj and even Anderson have plenty of ability if we play the game the right way. Even Cleverley has a good enough short passing game, he just needs to be a bit more attack minded rather than passing sideways all the time.
Don't get me wrong, I am not trying to directly compare us to Barcelona because that would be silly, but we do have good players at the club. There is no doubt we need another top midfielder, maybe two, plus a left back. But we have good players here. We just need to play to their strengths to see the best of them.

@Betty, I could not agree more. Our current plight is not down to the players, or lack of players, it is simply down to a lack of coaching vision, conviction and poor team-setup. Week after week I see teams that should be lining up 4231 playing 442 and being overrun in midfield.

Do Oscar, Hazard, Matta and co argue who is number 10? Doubt it.

All of this focus on a lack of defensive steel is a smokescreen. United have been unable to dominate teams, or even the possession stats against mid-table teams, for sometime now.

The best defence is a good offence, sorry to use an Americanism but its true. Our defensive frailties are exposed because we have been unable to retain possession. Nani, Young and Valencia in particular are to blame.

Spot on bs. Moyes just needs to get the tactics and personnel right and the rest will take care of itself. If it means playing one up with kagawa just behind, so be it. As long as they stay there and do their job.

Possible team for Stoke. Fellaini is likely to play because of his aerial ability to combat Stoke's main threat from set pieces. RVP will be back and therefore plays. I expect Kagawa to play as Moyes will be keen to reward good performances at the minute to help with motivation. Valencia and Young are all about crossing therefore I feel Nani and Kagawa will likely feature from the start for their dribbling abilities. Januzaj possibly too lightweight and inexperienced for Stoke. Jones and Evans were immense on Wednesday however if Vidic is fit then he comes in for Jones for me. Stoke are one of the most dangerous teams in the league from set pieces and therefore Vidic's experience will be key. Jones could shift to right back but I would expect that role to be taken by Smalling in place of Rafael due to his height advantage. Evra should play. Therefore my team looks like this: De Gea, Smalling, Vidic, Evans, Evra, Nani, Carrick, Fellaini, Kagawa, Rooney, RVP.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

That's a good team but I'd still play Rafa at RB regardless of his height. Smalling/Jones aren't fullbacks in anyway shape or form. Rafa is miles ahead of anyone when it comes to that position.

So, after the early stages to our season and the different combinations Moyes has used in midfield (and everywhere, but i'm concentrating on the midfield), hopefully he will start to get a picture of who fits where the best and how to make the most of them.

From what i've seen this season, I wish he would give a consistent run of a front 3 of Kagawa, Januzaj and Rooney, all behind Rvp, with a CM of Carrick and Cleverly, as IMO Fellaini is too slow and doesn't have the passing range of Clevs. Kagawa and Januzaj, playing as inverted wingers, cutting in and linking the play, would give us a great fluidity and creative ability, and hopefully make the most of Rvp, as we haven't so far IMO.

Just wondering what you guys think is our best midfield, based on what you have seen so far this season and the players available? As we all know, it's probably our weakest area of our team and needs strengthening.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Id replace clevs with Anderson if fit other than that I agree mate

Agree0 Disagree0

Good shout Elvis but you need to find a spot for Giggs

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry but Cleverley isn't good enough Anderson has had a million chances Giggs had a great game in midweek but put him in against a prem side as CM he plays rubbish.
Fellaini needs time just like Moyes he's at the biggest club in the world and must be a huge culture shock. They both need time

Agree0 Disagree0

Elvis,

I posted something similar not so long ago. I think that's possibly the best formation we could field with Kagawa, Rooney and Januzaj all interchanging allowing them the freedom to run into space, make some clever one two passing and it would be very difficult for any defence to mark and we could get the width from our fullbacks if needed. Kagawa and Evra linked up well during the week. I think Januzaj would be perfect on the right as he is very good with both feet and could cut in with the freedom to shoot with his left. I think him and Rafael could do some serious damage on the right. But I'd have to agree with CDR, I'd prefer Anderson to Clevs. An on form Anderson is awesome with his driving runs and clever passing unlocking defences and also putting them on the back foot.

And young and Valencia AJH! :-) :-)
