Great read Ed, 8magine if he had the equipment they have today, fitted clubs, more clubhead speed, unbelievable he played lefthanded cause he had a lefthanded 5 iron, its hard enough to hit the 5 irons they have today,
I watched that film about seve lately, what a man as well.
I've great respect for the older generation sportspeople, they had to do it the hard way,

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - imagine how many tournaments he would have won without the war and his accident? Really glad you enjoyed mate.}

Awesome read Ed.
Through the dark tunnel there is always a light. Loved all the BH quotes especially the one “most important shot is the next one”. Reminds me of the important thing called course management which I still use. That’s why I don’t always use driver for tee offs. Most par 4s can start with a 3 or 5 wood or long iron.
Already planning a trip to St Andrews in a year or 2 (bucket list) or hopefully sooner. That’ll be the time I’ll visit Ken too😉🤣.
Thanks for the great read Ed.

{Ed001's Note - glad you enjoyed mate. He did have some good things to say. You have to have respect for any one who is willing to throw themselves in the way of an oncoming bus to save someone else.

As for Ken, isn't he in Ireland? Only St Andrews is in Scotland, so you will have a bit of a swim....}

Great golf courses here to 666 . keep me posted on travel dates.

Ooooo Ed I can swim 🤣. If you’re around the places I’d like to buy you a few rounds of alcoholic drinks whichever type you prefer. Hopefully there’s a charity game and I can meet the rest as well 👏.
Yes I will Ken. Wife has agreed and will be with me. She is keen to visit UK-Scotland-Ireland route as well. Plan to spend 3-4 weeks for these 3 places just so I can take my time to enjoy the sight and catch a few rounds of golf as well. Top priority in bucket list. One I draw up I will try to get you contact and inform you. Thanks mate.

{Ed001's Note - I don't drink mate, but I am sure Ken will have mine for me.}

We already have plenty of options for dead ball specialists: Pogba - who puts into the wall, Rashford - who hits it over, Fred who stands next to the kicker but never kicks it and finally Young - who plays it back to a standing defender. Why do we need another one?

Believable6 Unbelievable1

28 Apr 2019 15:10:23
We are in dire need of one more.
The one who puts the ball in the net. I can still just about remember the time we had one. What a difference it makes.

Did anybody tell poch that ole has the job he doesn't have to keep losing😂😂
I don't think they will miss out but they really have faltered of late they may regret not strengthening in the last 2 windows.

Believable2 Unbelievable2

27 Apr 2019 19:29:41
They're in a champ league semi and are in pole position for top 4 without buying anyone in the last 2 windows. I doubt they'll regret anything. In actual fact, levy will be justified.

I know its a case of "if your auntie had . she'd be your uncle" but if we could only have picked up a few points in certain games we'd be right in there. chelsea and arsenal are (dare i say it) ever so slightly better than us this year. if only Pogba, Martial, Sanchez, would get the finger out we'd be a bit closer. anyway we're not so its a case of hoping - who knows maybe just maybe we'll get fourth. good lord how we have fallen though.

27 Apr 2019 20:58:59
Win tomorrow and we are in with a shout. Huddersfield are awful and cardif will be down with any luck coming to us.
I maintain 3 wins will get 4th at least spurs chelsea and arsenal all have tricky games and euro semis and i think they well all drop points.

28 Apr 2019 10:33:59
Totally agree ken, looking at the fixtures 12 points should just be enough. Big ask for us in this form though.

28 Apr 2019 11:55:14
We only have 3 games mate so i'd settle for 9 points😂😂.

28 Apr 2019 16:42:32
I’m talking superpoints. You get four points if you score ten or more goals in a single game. Not many people know the rule because it’s never been done Ken. You must feel embarrassed now mate, eh?

ED002 any truth in the amazon owner rumours that he is Interested in buy the club?

Given that he is recently divorced and a large chunk of his money was taken my his ex wife, I would have though this you be very unlikely.

Thanks in advance.

Just my opinion but does anybody else think we are a much better team when Herrera plays. His energy and the way he organizes others is hugely missed. He also gets the best out of Pogba. Our decline coincides with him being injured. i'm not for one second saying this is the only reason but I believe it's a factor in why our midfield has looked non existent in some recent games. Fred has lots of energy too but at the moment hasn't got the quality on the ball that Herrera has, he may come good next season if his confidence increases. Herrera back tomorrow hopefully with Mctominey and Pogba. That's our best 3 and it will make a big difference. Massive game tomorrow. Amazingly despite everything a win gives us a slight chance at top 4.

Don't write us off yet!

I agree. It’s no coincidence that since Herrera has been out the team we have been far worse. Usually sets the standard with his pressing and energy. I would love him ya stay but he is asking for a huge wage. Need to upgrade on him in the summer.

27 Apr 2019 13:02:07
He’s no Roy Keane but he’s the one player we have who’s not afraid to shout orders and get other players into position. He’s the closest we have to a leader - which is also a concern.

Agree7 Disagree3

27 Apr 2019 21:58:11
He is dynamic. only problem what I felt is his fitness and absense of games through injury .

I would much rather we signed 3-4 lesser-known hungry players, excelling at smaller clubs, who would relish the step up rather than any more superstars who’ve already won everything. Any of Wan-Bissaka, Milenkovic, Fernandes, Neves, Doucoure would be great. I have no problem with giving Romero a proper go of it if De Gea goes. The problem will be the creative force in midfield with any number of our mids supposedly likely to leave.

Believable5 Unbelievable6

27 Apr 2019 12:18:50
Spot on. Those are exactly the sort of players we should be targeting. Build a team, not rely on one guy. You take de Bruyne or silva out of city and they still play at the highest level. Pogba has a bad game for us (9 times out of 10) and we can’t play. Need to create a system and a cohesive unit.

{Ed025's Note - exactly park..

Alderweireld and wan-bissaka would instantly sort our defence and wouldn't cost the earth.

Letting hererra go is a joke. He's 29 so is literally at his peak. Look how much losing hererra over the last couple of months has cost us.
Meulenstein comes out this morning and says how ander compliments pogba and he's not wrong. Coincidence that both the clubs and pogbas form have dropped since Hererra has been out.
Lots of people say hererra ain't good enough for a title winning team, that is bull. And in any case he would make a triffic rotational player.
A
Hererra gets united and speaks about the club with passion, I'm sure if treated well he would not go.
What is going on at this club. How are smalling and Jones getting contracts.

Believable8 Unbelievable7

27 Apr 2019 10:52:43
Agree totally on Herrera, I had just posted something similar.
He is the only one in our team with any leadership qualities. That and his energy and quality on the ball (not often he gives it away) have been badly missed.
I hope he stays, but that said if he is after ridiculous wages like is being reported then can see why they don't want to give him a new contract. Allthough in all fairness can see why he thinks Sanchez shouldn't be on more money.

I would offer him more money (maybe not as much as he's asked for), 3 or 4 year contract and give him the captaincy. He's the best option we have at the moment for captain.
That would make him stay I'm sure, he shows passion for the club and always 100% effort, not many others you can say that about at the moment.

I am sad that Herrera is going, but I hope, that the club didn't fight to keep him, because they are confident of signing a replacement.

Agree1 Disagree1

27 Apr 2019 19:30:16
It will be sad if Herrera leaves. If he does go, we may hear a different version of the story about why. The only midfielder we have who makes others around him better.

Agree0 Disagree2

{Ed002's Note - He is leaving as has been explained because MU did not offer a good enough deal in a timely manner - there is no other story.}

27 Apr 2019 22:32:43
Don't like to say but he never carried the team, if the powers that be aren't timely with a good enough deal then i don't blame them. (for once) . he is Everton, West Ham standard. not for a second will he carry us through a tough game. he may shout and order but I'd prefer a younger player with potential than a 29/ 30 year old looking for a payday.

Despite all the ups and downs since ole took over a win on sunday puts us right in the mix for 4th and set up a potential good finish to terrible season.
I think we are low on confidence if ole can get them up for it and get us in the top4 it bodes very well for the future as it will show great managerial skill to win our last 3 games.

As a fan im hoping someone steps up and hits a bit of form and that has a knock on effect.
Top 4 looked impossible then it looked probable now it looks impossible again a win on sunday it looks likely again. Gong into the summer with a cl spot secured would bring a whole different complection to the summer and beginning of next season.
Huge challenge for him on sunday huge challege for the players. Simple team talk. Go out stick together, work harder than them, relax, look after the ball look after each other, be brave .

ou owe the fans the owners the staff and yourselves a performance that leaves them asking where has that team been for the last 2 months? Keep your concentration keep your head and enjoy it. And you pogba get your hair cut.

I would love to see us throw greenwood in. Another outstanding goal tonight. 15 goals with his left foot this season and 14 with his right. Kid looks a huge talent, and maybe similar to Rashford a few years back he could provide a boost with a moment.

Agree1 Disagree0

27 Apr 2019 08:43:11
Really up for the game tomorrow, but more importantly I hope the players are. Chelsea are the other top team with a motivation problem arguably as bad as ours, so if we are hungry and at them I feel we will win, with two very winnable games left.

9 points could just scrape us in there, with Chelsea and arse also distracted by European semi finals.

Would end the season and begin the crucial summer rebuild on such a positive note. Come on United.

27 Apr 2019 09:05:01
I don't see us winning against Chelsea. I can see Hazard having fun against our defenders, its one of his last few games in the premier lragur and he would want to go out witha bang.

Agree1 Disagree3

27 Apr 2019 09:45:13
I still believe we can win tomorrow but given confidence levels we need to score first and Rashford needs to shoot straight, get over the ball, keep his shots down. Hazard is a wonderful player, that SAF didn’t feel there was value for and if Young plays against him I fear our chances. It is up in the air tomorrow, I would not play Pogba but if Ole does he should play him up top just around Rashford enabling us to have a more solid midfield. Pogba with Lingard in front of him is too soft and open.

Agree2 Disagree0

27 Apr 2019 09:51:33
would like to see greenwood on for 30 minutes at least- unknown quantity for chelski back four and could be the factor that gets us the points. Might need a minder though against rudiger and cynical Luiz.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Apr 2019 13:39:33
I think that I am right in saying that with spurs likely to finish 3rd even if we did finish 4th we would only quality for the CL if neither arsenal or Chelsea won the europa league as only 4 places are available for the prem league as opposed to 5 when we won it. If either win it they would claim the 4th CL spot not the team that finishes 4th.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Apr 2019 13:52:13
Even if we win tomorrow, we would still need Chelsea to drop another point in their last two games and Arsenal to drop four in their last three. Both of these things are more likely than us beating Chelski and winning our last two games though, I suppose.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Apr 2019 15:10:16
We (Chelsea) are almost certainly going to drop points in our last 2 games. Leicester away and Watford are difficult matches for anyone, let alone an inconsistent team like ours without our 2nd most dangerous attacker (Callum) .

I don't see us winning tomorrow as Ole's preferred style is perfect against us. Just sit back and watch us struggle to create (and muck up the chances we do get) and then hit us with speed as our defense apart from Rüdiger is slow and Kante is a doubt to play.
The best I see us doing is a draw.
