Good profile ED001, sounds like Chelsea potentially have a top player, depending on his attitude and whether Chelsea can stop hi fighting his team mates.

Did you or are you planning on doing a profile on Bruno Fernandes?

Cheers.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I just did one a few days ago: Bruno Fernandes profile. If you had gone to the main page on the profiles site you would have seen it right below the Ziyech one!}

Cheers ED001. Best put my specs on.

{Ed001's Note - it's old age mate. It happens to us all eventually. I am sure it will even hit me one day.}

Bit of fun for everyone. The Premier league are creating a Hall of Fame with the first two inductees entering sometime in March or April I think. with that in mind who should get in? who are the players who simply must be there? apparently the voting is based solely on a players premier league career not what they have done elsewhere. If you had to name your top 5 inductees who would they be? (not just united players but any team from the premier league era) .

mine are:
Shearer
Henry
Ronaldo
Vieira
Giggs.

Shearer, Giggs, Keane, Henry and probably Lampard. I could easily have picked just 5 Utd players, tho.

First 2 has got to be Giggs and Shearer.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Feb 2020 16:32:32
It is hard not to pick all Utd players as Utd have been so dominant, until recently that is!

Giggs, Scholes, Rooney, Shearer and Gerrard.

27 Feb 2020 16:40:02
maybe remove cole for giggs for me.

Agree1 Disagree0

27 Feb 2020 16:48:53
Giggs, Cole, Gerrard, Aguero (when retired), Lampard, Henry, Shearer, multiple picks from United and Arsenal team back then, some from the recent Leicester team when retired, kompany and Dilva when retired, Gareth Barry.
Tbh, United 99, Arsenal invincibles could go in as teams and some may be put in more than once eventually.
If managers go in, Fergie, Wenger are an obvious 2 for now.

27 Feb 2020 17:30:30
Cantina and Schmeichel.

27 Feb 2020 18:03:38
Be very interesting to see who gets in and how many. will it be like the nfl etc where there are a set number of inductees each year? The issue with the mlb, nfl, nba etc is that its a committee who decides, that could be contentious if the Premier league follow the same format.

What is everyone's view on Jack Grealish.
What will he bring to team? And what position will he play on the pitch.

Ed002 has said, Grealish is a clear target for the club.
I have not watched much of him at Villa.
But, I see many pundits raving about him and saying he should snub United for Liverpool etc, .

Several papers today are also reportng that the club is trying to close the deal sson.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

27 Feb 2020 06:31:05
TRD, I'm not convinced by him. He has decent stats at villa. Bit of a diver and carries s bit of attitude also. Good player but can he make the step up? Who knows. He is talented and he does work hard at villa where he is the main man.
Dives a bit to easy for my liking i'm not sure if he would be a good signing or not only time will tell.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - does he work hard? He certainly doesn't track back much or press. That is a big part of their problem that he is just stood watching games for large periods as Villa don't have the ball and he is not putting in the work to get it back.

I fully agree with you on the diver bit, he is the 'most fouled' player in the league according to the stats. However if you actually look at the 'fouls', 99% of them are him throwing himself to the ground because he has run himself into a dead end and has nowhere to go. For some reason refs give him the decision, even though it is clear he is not being touched.}

27 Feb 2020 07:46:24
Reminds me of a slightly more consistent Jesse Lingard.
We need plays will play for the shirt. I'd stay clear of him.
Although in sure ED002 said that since we have signed Bruni that Grealish and Maddison were not longer targets.

Agree3 Disagree0

27 Feb 2020 07:58:12
Tris is not a fan! I like him I like his swagger and I like his skills. He glides past players, sees a pass, and can score.

There are 2 clear issues for me. He doesn't work hard enough (which can be fixed) and the swagger I mentioned could morph into a Billy big boots attitude.

If he was joining the past United team full of leaders then I think they would have sorted him, this team I'm not so sure.

He will either let it go to his head or he will step up 6become a great. I'm happy to take the risk.

And I don't agree that 99% of his fouls aren't fouls, refs aren't that daft (sorry Tris) .

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - are you serious? Refs are that daft, they are terrible. Did you not see the ones that have been given against Zaha? There was a piece about how opponents are ganging up on Zaha done in one of the papers. The 'fouls' referred to were shown on TV here and not one was a foul on Zaha. In fact a lot of them were him committing the foul and getting a free kick! Refs are terrible, just go back and look at the Lo Celso stamp if you still think they aren't that daft, then remember that the ref who was on VAR is now on FIFA's international list. So he is adjudged to be one of the best we have, not just in England, but in the world!}

27 Feb 2020 08:49:10
AJH,

He is a big fish in a small pond. If he moves to a United he would be a decent player. We need top players with the right attitude.

I'm sure he and Lingard would love sending snapchats to each other over who had the best summer holiday etc.

Agree2 Disagree0

27 Feb 2020 10:27:06
Grealish is a good dribbler, can play wide, but really seems best driving forward out of midfield. He certainly pulls defenders in, which would open up space for the pacier lads like Rashford, James and Martial. I see him working well against smaller teams along with Fernandes, with Fred or McTominay. Grealish and Fernandes offer different kinds of threat, but both can unlock a stubborn defence, and trying to defend against both at once would make it all the more difficult.

Against Bigger teams, I think Fernandes would take the lead ahead of Fred and McTominay, as he's already shown he's got a tenacious combative streak as well, and the three of them together should win back possession effectively, with Fernandes having the vision to create openings on the break. Grealish could take that place if Fernandes is unavailable, he's quick enough and could carry the ball forward and make openings, but he doesn't offer much in winning the ball back.

comes across a bit like memphis when at our club; loads of promise but never hitting the mark. The lad has confidence in himself but think he would struggle in our team even at the moment when we are in transition. There are a fair few players before him in my opinion especially with the figures mooted.

Agree1 Disagree0

27 Feb 2020 11:14:12
Has played most of best football for villa on the left wing where we have rashford.

If ole sticks with 4-2-3-1 bruno is the clear number 10.

If ole moves to a 4-3-3 we don't have anyone remotely good enough to play as the deepest midfielder with bruno and grealish ahead of them. don't kid yourselves into thinking fred or mctominay can do that role.

Plenty of other priorites ahead of grealish.

Agree1 Disagree0

27 Feb 2020 11:58:24
Don't you think we should go for John McGinn instead of Grealish Ed001? Replace Pogba with Saul and we'll have have a very strong midfield, McTominay, Saul, Bruno Fernandes, McGinn and James Garner?

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Feb 2020 11:58:24
Don't you think we should go for John McGinn instead of Grealish Ed001? Replace Pogba with Saul and we'll have have a very strong midfield, McTominay, Saul, Bruno Fernandes, McGinn and James Garner?

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I would say so, much better player imo and much better suited to United's need too.}

27 Feb 2020 12:14:58
For me it could go two ways with Grealish. I think he is the right type of No.10 we need, someone who'll drive forward with the ball from deep and draw defenders to him.

That said is he good enough? I don't think there would be half the hype around him as there is if he was French for example.

He is clearly talented, but does he work hard enough? I wonder if he is one of these players that are better suited to being the big fish in the small pond. Some players look great when at mid sized clubs, but lack something when at a big club. He seems to have the attitude to take the pressure and the spot light while at Villa. But to do that at a club like United, Liverpool or Chelsea you need to work really hard as well. Does he have that?

Agree3 Disagree0

27 Feb 2020 13:29:24
I think he would be a very signing, really hope we get him.

Agree1 Disagree0

27 Feb 2020 13:00:28
Ed,

With regards to grealish not working hard or tracking back, could it be possible that he might have been instructed by the manager to do so. I mean if I am the manager and my player is not doing what I have asked to do, I would consider him dropping, isn't it?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - and who would you drop him for when you are in charge of Villa? He has never been good at tracking back or pressing, he just wants to be on the ball and pretend he is George Best.}

27 Feb 2020 15:51:50
What do you think of them midfield options Ed001? (Fernandes, Saul, McTominay, Garner, McGinn), got a bit of everything, well balanced. All hard workers but can actually play well aswell.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - certainly looks good on paper, the one worry would be that the two Mc's have been injured a fair bit this season, so maybe you could do with an extra body as cover. Especially with Garner being so young and inexperienced, he might well not play well right away.}

27 Feb 2020 18:39:28
I don't see why we're clamouring for grealish when we've just signed fernandes. Grealish best position is exactly where we should be playing fernandes. Much rather we focused on someone to replace pogba and matic.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Feb 2020 19:38:19
My bad Ed, never mentioned the cover players, focused on players who are good enough to be in first XI only. Matic, Fred, Pereira can step up in cup games or come off the bench to see off a win etc.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - ah ok sorry.}

27 Feb 2020 20:05:36
How are things Ed001? Must be looking forward to winning the, i can't even say it, but you get the gist? 😂.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I am not ready to count my chickens just yet. Only when the trophy is lifted, by whoever it is that wins it, will I accept it is won. I know it may be silly, but so many things can turn a season on its head at the drop of a hat. I just think about the next game and take it one game at a time.

It is difficult to enjoy it when your team has thrown it away so many times before!}

28 Feb 2020 10:49:01
You'll be fine Ed, normal to be feeling how you are right now, 30 year wait coupled with a few very close title races but your time has come, not a chance you'll bottle it this time around. Hope we can challenge soon enough though 🤞🏻.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I am sure you will be back at some point. Eventually.}

This site is a little to quiet for my liking. God forbid we don't lose on Thursday because it's going to be pandemonium in here.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed047's Note - no ones really sure after smashing the mighty Watford whether it’s another false dawn or not mate so everyone’s a little apprehensive.

27 Feb 2020 05:07:03
Hey Ed047. Bruno's arrival has lifted the squad.
Let's see if we can continue this mini momentum.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed047's Note - yes mate, that’s the important thing, stop the one step forward one step back.

27 Feb 2020 06:33:51
Big week ahead with el pl and fa cup matches.
Win the 3 of them and things are looking up. Slip up and it knocks us sideways again.
I think everybody is hoping we can sustain a run of good form but are s little cautious.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Feb 2020 07:40:40

27 Feb 2020 07:47:35
ED047,

OGS needs to play his best team, when he can, I thought it was a . mistake not to play Bruno and fred from the beginning against brugge last week.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed047's Note - I think at this stage of the season you’re right MH, it’s the time when everything’s up for grabs.

Play your best 11 with minimal changes. In his defence Bruno has only just arrived and just getting used to everything so that might have been a factor.

Yourselves, Chelsea, Arsenal and Spurs look to be making the biggest hash of things so far.

Leicester and Sheffield are difficult to know how they’ll finish the season.

The rest i mentioned, excluding Arsenal, are close enough to make the most of anyone above or around slipping up.

27 Feb 2020 08:00:22
I think TRD is right. Its crunch time, the next 4 league games will pretty much decide if we can qualify for ECL or not. Bring it on!

Agree2 Disagree0

27 Feb 2020 08:25:59
I think Everton away is going to be the toughest test. If we can get a result there, then there's no reason why we can't beat City, Sheffield United and Spurs.
I expect a good showing tonight, and let's get the club buzzing by moving to the next round.

Agree0 Disagree1

27 Feb 2020 08:53:56
ED047,

Playing our best available team. week in a d out might just see United get into CL football.

United have a few bug games coming up. Chelsea and Spurs have injury problems. Man City will suffer if laporte is out for awhile.

Playing your strongest team a d building up a winning streak will build up confidence.

It's like were playing snakes and ladders, go forwards, then at times we really drop back.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed047's Note - it might mate and you’ve got nothing to lose by doing it
