Well guys as I live in Oldham and my mate is an Latics fan we got some tickets for today and let me say, money well spent. Best non united football match I have seen EVER. Congratulations to the Oldham lads. We even got the 'your teeth were offside' chant going round the ground, classic.

I know this question has been answered in patches around the site but, I would like to ask everyone - do you think De Gea will stay beyond this summer and if yes for how long?
Personally I really want him to stay but I can see fergie grow impatient with him, what does everyone else thinks?

Believable7 Unbelievable1

Here to stay

Brendan

Agree7 Disagree0

Personally I think he's here for at least the next few years. Barca have other targets apparently. And with Casillias out for a while with Real they chose to sign Diego Lopez(who I think is a grwat keeper btw) so they aren't going to be looking for awhile yet. Atlectico are the only option for him and ed002 thinks they have other targets in mind and they certainly wouldn't pay the fee needed anyway.

Shappy

Agree3 Disagree1

Only way DEB goes if United sign an experienced International keeper. I don't see this happening anytime soon.

Agree1 Disagree0

I hope he stays for long. He is a great asset to the team. Apart from his top notch shot stopping abilities, he has good passing range.. Even in last match, he delivered a pass to Rafael right to his feet and he was standing in their half. He doesn't do it often nowadays.. maybe he is advised not to.. to reduce the errors to some extent

Agree1 Disagree1

I would be very surprised if he left,

Hey guys thought i'd post a story,
About 10 years ago I had a poker nite, now most of my friends were there, and as usual the beer was flowing and I was winning! Now after a few hours it was evident my friend who is a life long arsenal fan was very drunk and after a few shots of the gd stuff passed out drunk, now me being a die hard red and all the rest of my mates keen followers thought it might be funny to maybe slip a shirt on this die hard arsenal fan and take a few pics which we happily did, then put his jumper back on. In the morning I walked into my living and came across my arsenal friend having a argument with my other friend about wot happened, my friend turned to me and asked if it was true that he was running down the street signing GGMU.
I just looked at my other friend smiled and showed the gooner the pics of him passed out in a utd jersy, to which he sunk down on my sofa distraught and confused!
To this day he still thinks he was running down my road in a utd top singing GGMU!
Do you think I should tell him the truth after all these years? you decide!
Chris the REDman {Ed007's Note - I assume you have blackmailed the $h1t out of the situation?}

My best mate was a gooner (R.I.P. nicest bloke ever)
He lost to me at poker and had to run down to dodgy tower block in Romford, stark b0llock naked with me driving my van beeping my horn behind him. It was middle of the day and we got it all on camera! poor guy sh1t himself and tried to get in the van when some local chavs started on him. I blackmailed him for years with that footage, pints were on him for every match!

Courtois is unreal Chelsea have a gem there.

RED91

Believable3 Unbelievable0

I agree, he is the best young goalie in world football by some distance..... If we do end up selling De Gea to Barca or Madrid in a year or so then I know Courtois plays for a rival in Chelsea but I would like us to go all out for him as I think he will be the best in the world soon enough.

Agree1 Disagree2

He is excellent and I guess you watched the game last night. The other goalie was also excellent and Muniain looks like he has gotten over his injuries and to me better than Rodrigues and everything you want in a winger that we don't have.

Classic, thanks Tel.

What Tel fails to realise is that most Liverpool fans are deluded enough think they will win every game just because they are Liverpool where as the rest of us know that we have to earn a win against any team.

Guys, even though they were embarrased today, I would like to say hats off to Liverpool for pulling off the transfer of coutinho. They keep saying he is a worldclass talent, and they did well to secure his services.

After all, they were able to beat Southampton to his signature.

You know your team is $hit when the only team battling for one of your targets is a bottom premier league club. The mighty has fallen...

Just wondering about the general consensus on here over our older players and who will be here next season or not! In my opinion:

- Ferdinand : signs a new deal.
- Evra : stays.
- Giggs : one more year.
- Scholes : retired.
- Carrick : new deal.

I am fairly sure that that is what will happen, but we will sign young players who can bed into the team while the older heads are still here - this way they won't come into the club with a huge weight of expectation on their shoulder. In terms of new players I think that (Zaha), Rodriguez, Cabaye, Zouma & Fischer will be targeted.

Fresh!

Believable1 Unbelievable0

I'd agree with the existing not so sure on the in's.

I think Rodriguez would cost more than we're looking to spend and surely must be cheaper alternatives.

Also I think Cabaye would cost too much unless the Barcodes go down, which I don't see happening at the moment as there are 3 worse teams than them.

Zouma I don't think is particularly needed.

And not sure Ajax will sell Fischer unless its for stupid money and again i'm not sure he's really needed.

Agree3 Disagree1

So who do you think comes in then unnamed?

Fresh!

Agree0 Disagree0

I would like to see Ferdinand and Evra leave, Scholes and Giggs retire and Carrick sign a new deal. I would like to see Zouma replace Ferdy, Baines replace Evra, Milan Badelj replace Giggs, Yohan Cabaye replace Scholes..... That would make a superb summer and incredible squad.

Agree1 Disagree2

27 Jan 2013 22:50:55
I think Rio will get one more year and Carrick a few more. Evra i'm undecided on. He could be let go or kept for one more year. I don't think Sir Alex will want to lose too much experiance in one window, which is why atm I feel he'll stay. Scholes and Giggs need to retire, Giggs has had a few good games recently. But we all know in our heart of hearts the time is right for him to bow out. The only other exit I see is Nani along with the usual youngsters who sadly aren't upto it.

Coming in well obviously Zaha, I would expect a CM possibly Strootman and another winger/forward along the lines of Gaitan or Rodriguez. Then maybe a LB depending on whether Evra leaves or not.

Shappy

Agree4 Disagree1

27 Jan 2013 23:03:56
Fresh. I think strootman or wanyama for midfield, don't think we'll sign a centreback unless one of vidic or rio leaves, must admit rio is a possibility. Wingers bothers me, i'm not sure what we're planning. I can't see us signing too many young players as we have a lot of our own.

Agree1 Disagree0

Fresh

Fisher is not interested in moving and I don't blame him. He recently said he plays in front of 55,000 people for Ajax and is part of the starting line up. If you are 20 and get to play for Ajax and guaranteed champions league, why would would you move to united to sit on the bench and get token game time in meaningless games and how does that help your development. Ajax some would argue has better coaching in terms of player development than we do.

He will stay for a couple of more years and then probably make a big move to Spain.

I also don't believe we would go after Rodrigues due to the valuation of Porto.

Midfield is a mystery because according to the manager this is the best team he has ever had and we might go another window without buying anyone especially if Anderson and Kagawa come on a bit more.

"I know! Lets play Sturridge through the middle and Suarez out wide! It would be a mistake to play the one with more pace on the wing, and the one with better technical ability through the middle" - BR logic haha

Another two shocks today with Chelsea only drawing and Spurs put out by Leeds. Liverpool with a late rally almost pulled off a further shock at Oldham . Fair play to oldham they were the better team.

Although going out of all the cups early I'm not that down beat after all it lets us focus on getting up the table.
We have so many young players coming through our system atm that the future is bright, Sterling, suso, sturridge and shelvy are going to be worldclass!
We all know this season we are in transition and I'm sure next year will be our year!
We have the best young manager around in BR and his style will take time to adapt too, but once he buys more players from chelsea, re-signs a few more players we let go for nothing I'm certain we can compete again.
I mean if you look at our team to the Mancs there isn't 2 much difference and once they stop getting all the luck and the ref's start giving us the rub of the green and Fergie goes and rvp stops scoring or hernandez gets found out and vidic Doesn't get over his injury and Rooney stops scoring and carrick losses both legs and smalling stops progressing we will finally get number 19 and put them in there place!
It take time!

I'm sure people remember two summers ago when Pool fans came here to boast that they had signed the best young defender in the world. Despite their club going all out to sign Jones (and failing), they acted as if they dodged a bullet telling us that Jones was too small to be a proper defender, while Coates would develop into the best defender in the league. A year and a half on, and this weekend our 20 year old champion dominated at the heart of defence against PL opposition, while Coates, at 22, was embarrassed by a team close to the league one relegation zone. Coates is possibly a more embarrassing signing than Bebe for the simple reason that Pool fans still think he's going to be top class, someday. A bit of an analogy for the current Liverpool team, expensive, vastly overrated, and always thinks they're one year away from greatness.

Last week I felt that the fee for Zaha was a bit too high, but today I was reminded that Borini cost over £10m, so everything in perspective. Let's give a big round of applause to the Liverpool fans who come here every week telling us that they're on the up and we're on the down. Gerrard is in the twilight of his career, Suarez won't stay long without CL football, and you can't expect a 17 year old to carry you.

But well done to Oldham. They played their hearts out with pride. It's telling that the only Liverpool player who came anyway close to that level of commitment was Gerrard. He's your real transition, when he goes the last vestiges of winning mentality will retire with him.

"No matter who Coates signs for Red Dawn mate, he's better than Jones and Smalling. This kid has everything you want in a defender".

Danny, Zaha actually cost less than Borini at £10.3m. Zaha only cost a couple million more Coates. With Zaha carrying a premium for being English £10.3m may end up being a steal.

Hey Everyone,
First off I just can't stop smiling at the Liverpool Results!
Anyway Moving forward(literally)!

Regarding our team.
There has been suggestion lots of suggestion from Cb and Lb.
I don't think we would need CB unless Rio leaves seeing that Vidic will get injured(Subotic or Hummels with their experience and age would be amazing and ideal), even than we still have class of Vidic, Smalling, Jones, Evans, and Keane!
In terms of Lb, Evra and Buttner is alrite. We have Fabio( if he stays fit). M. Vermijl( who is absolute talent!)

Our main concern is CM and we all know that Saf will never buy a CDM. Pogba would have been fantastic(but we have no place for his attitude).
My ideal would be Wilshere(He will be the best in world). Vidal would be amazing or even Modric!
And ofcourse a winger, Rodriguez or Ozil!

Imagine Man utd next year with addition of 2 player a CM and Winger! I am sooo excited!!

Can Anyone thing of any CM or Winger

Red Samurai!

Believable6 Unbelievable0

Nuri Sahin????
Dortmund - rising star
R.Madrid - injured
Liverpool - hardly played
Dortmund (loan) back to business

I know he did rubbish at Liverpool probably cause he was a big fish in a small pond. If he went to a better, bigger club like OLDHAM or us in the summer he'll show his quality again. He's back at Dortmund on loan. I BET HE DOES WELL. Real Madrid do rate him highly but surely don't need him. I think he's on loan for a shop window Opportunity. If he picks up his form maybe 8-12m in the summer.

I'd use Welbeck as a cover winger & buy Lewandowski.

Kagawa, Sahin & Lewandowski are a great combination added with Welbeck, Cleverley & Rooney WOW!

I've see lots of posts today hilighting how good Phil Jones was. Yes he was...and so was Smalling who looks classier and classier every game. It's easy to forget that we are also in transition, if we can nail midfield in the Summer we should have a hell of a squad.

AJH

Believable9 Unbelievable0

AJH - I agree with everything you said, Jones best position is centre back without a doubt. Smalling just for me is Ferdinand 10 years ago but with more ability and pace. If we can sign a solid left back in Baines and add two central players like Strootman and Badelj we could have a tremendous team..... If we could manage to nab another winger too so maybe sell Valencia and Nani with Zaha nailed on and a Rodriguez we would have one of the best squads in the world. {Ed004's Note - I agree if we could get Baines and one of modric/wilshere/cabaye and one of of wanyama/Vidal/bender/Medel and then one of Rodriguez/isco/gotze/ozil we would have one of the best teams and squads in the world}

Agree2 Disagree1

Lets not get too carried away. Smalling is growing into a cracking player but to say he has more ability and pace than Ferdinand at a similar age is a bit much. Lets not forget that Rio was the best of his type in the world at the time. That's the main reason we paid so heavily for him.

TK-Red - I do not think I am getting carried away when I say it..... Chris Smalling has the potential to out shine any centre back in world football. in a few years.

Oh I know he has the potential to outshine Rio but you said Smalling is Rio of 10 years ago with more pace and ability which I disagree with as Rio was already world class at 23 where as Smalling isn't quite there yet.

Is Smalling develops into half the player Ferdinand was, I will be a very happy man. Couple of years back, Rio was one of the best defenders in the world. In his mid 20s he was considered the most talented Cb since the premier league started.

Hey guys I haven't posted for a while and decided after watching a few games and seeing what everyone thought that I would now. I think that the team is suffering from a lack of continuity. I understand that there are a lot of games and players get injured and you can't play the same 11 week in week out. My problem is that it is never the same defense or midfield or attackers. This makes it hard for them to form partnerships or get familiar playing with each other. The one player that this is probably hardest on is De Gea. A good defense is built on a strong triangle between the GK and 2 CBs once they understand what happens in different situations they are able to react faster and be on the same page. We do have a few mainstays in the team Rafa, Evra, RVP, and Carrick. These players are playing very well and Evra has improved a great deal. I think Rooneys confidence is very low and I noticed after the goal he was at the center of most of our good attacking play. He linked up well with Kagawa and on a different day he could have had 4. I was really hoping Nani would have a good game yesterday everytime he got the ball I was praying for a good decision. I feel that once we have a solid spine from GK to Striker we can switch out other players as necessary. De Gea has to be in goal but what is our best CB pairing Smalling and Vidic/Evans/Jones? Carrick has to play in midfield until we get an upgraded midfielder and RVP up top. I agree that Rooney has been in bad form as of late but by the end of the game I was seeing more of the Rooney of old. I would like to think RVP and Rooney up top would be first choice but time will tell. Then the players you have to come in are Kagawa, Clevs, Anderson, Nani, Valencia, Young, Powell, Welbeck, and Hernandez. If you look at teams of old you will find that there was a good spine to the team which gave us a lot to build on. Hopefully once everyone is fit and they get games together we will click and dominate like we should.

Darren-Bermuda

Believable3 Unbelievable5

I agree to an extent.

I do think we should try to find our best CB partnership and stick with it for a while. As you say, consitency breeds a better understanding and if we can tighten up at the back we have a good shot at success. If Vidic is fit enough to play regularly I'd like to see him partner either Smalling or Evans for a few games. Jones is a beast but a little too similar to Vidic to play with him IMO.

DDG, Rafael, Evra, Carrick and RVP obviously need to play as much as possible. But so long as we nail down our best CB pairing I think it's OK to keep rotating the rest i.e. Carrick's partner, the wingers and RVP's partner.

There are lots of lessons to be taken from yesterdays game I think the first and most important one was that if you put a strong team out from the start they can put the game to bed early and not give the opposition any reason to get up for the game or believe they have a chance. I think once again we saw that if Anderson is played in an advanced position then he is a different creature and it was a pleasure to see a United midfielder carry the ball forward and go past players. We once again saw a masterclass in passing from Carrick who has been dignified all the time whilst being an easy target for the boo boys at OT because of the number he wears on his back. It is good to see reading this site that a lot of you noticed how sloppy Rooney was. lets face it he should have scored 4 today and he was at fault for their goal as he lost his man. The amount of times he passed to a Fulham player was shocking though it made no difference against such poor opposition. We saw giggs enjoying the twilight of his career and treating the crowd to some touches of sublime beauty that showed why he has been such a great player who when played out on the left can still offer something. We also saw one of the greatest players ever to play the game come on and show why this must be his last season. The Ginger prince mis hit passes and flew into players like he wanted to hurt someone Why?. We saw Jones dominate everything in the area he is starting to find his feet and I for one am liking everything I see. We saw Chich proving once again that if you play with wingers and put the ball across the box he will score again and again. In my life why do I smile at people who I would much more rather kick in the eye. I AM KLOOT

Ive never like Manchester United as a team over the years, but have to admit that at times they have been unstoppable. Being really honest about the current team, without RVP United would look very average and most certainly would not be in pole position in the league. They are over achieving in my eyes.

City have a much better team, more balanced and better quality of players, but Mancini doesn't have Fergies background knowledge and winning mentality.

My own team LFC are in transition stage and we are progressing well in my view. United beat us recently, but be honest, the second half must have made even the die hard United supporters realise that LFC will come good in a relatively short time. We had you on the ropes at times but couldn't kill you off. That will come with time and experience for our young squad.

Do I think United will win the league ? Yes probably but it could be close. City will not give up their trophy without a fight.

Do I think LFC will win anything this year ? Probably not but i'm not too concerned we now have a great young squad with a number of world class players to help them. Next season could be a defining period for us.

Do I think Ferguson is the best English manager ever ?...sorry guys that title belongs to Bob Paisley who achieved more in his time than Fergie has. he did it honestly without complaints about referees or linesman, without mind games trying to gain some advantage over his foes, but most of all because he did it with humility and honour. Fergie has a lot to learn from Bob paisley a man universally loved by all neutral supporters throughout this land.

I pray that if we get past Oldham, we get United in the next round of the FA Cup. We may not beat you, and United would be favourites i'm sure, but if your really honest with yourselves, you will be more worried than most of the Liverpool supporters.

ps the operation was a success and all shrapnel has now been carefully removed

Tel 1949

We were 2nd last season only on goal difference WITHOUT RVP. This season we have had 18 different scorers. Our top 3 scorers have 22, 14 and 10 goals respectively.

As for Liverpool, you have had 16 different scorers, and your top 3 scorers have a poultry 20, 6 and 5 goals.

IF there is one team relying on the success of one player it certainly isn't us. Perhaps you should be really honest with yourself and accept the fact you are a club in dire straits. Not in transition, but you can no longer attract the world class talent, you are no longer flavour of the month and you have to resort to transfer battles with the likes of Southampton.

People said we were a 1 man team when Ronny was about and when he left we were still up there. Why is it any different with RVP this year?

We aren't worried at all, our debt is being reduced, our transfer spendings over the past 3 years have been more than healthy, and successful. We have bought quality young English players unlike our friends on merseyside and we are starting to reap the benefits.

IF you are REALLY HONEST, with yourself you will KNOW that you have a long long way to go until you get back to where you once were.

As for your comments regarding SAF, they are ludicrous, they do not even warrant a response. Unbelievable bias, they are both undoubtedly great managers, why do you have to attempt to bring down SAF's achievements by accusing him of underhand tactics. You do have a player who clearly handled the ball in order for you to progress against a non-league side, maybe you should look at the cheats in your own organisation?

Agree5 Disagree0

Haha is this wot has come too really?
Progressing nicely you say? wot 20+ points off the top and looking more likely to finish 10th than anywhere near CL football?
If your happy with that fair play but I know plenty off lfc fans that are so peeved with the fact you have spent close to 150m over 2 years and are still ONLY competing for a top 10 finish, you say we would be below you without RVP? so wot about last year when we didn't have him and yet you somehow finished so far behind us??
Where would you be without toothy? Yes that's right prob just hovering above relegation! without rvp we still have goal scorers which will score, without toothy you have borini and sturridge!
Now you can try and cover it up as much as you like but the fact is, through your own clubs negligence you have spent awful amounts of money on crap and now HAVE to play young players from your 'famed' youth system! where as we spend our money more often than not on 'propa' players.
Now onto mangers, ours is by far the best since prob BUSBY! It does make me laugh that everytime you try to beat us in terms of history and we catch you up and exceed you the goal posts move from your fans into your favour, first it was we have won 18 league titles, then we caught up now its 5 europe cups and better mangers, wot will it be when we DO over take everything you have done?
But in truth the only thing in recent times(20+years) you can claim to beat us on is money paid for useless players? FACT!
Your comments are welcome here but your blindness is just laughable! Only ure fans claim to be a top club now even your ex players are commenting on liverpool now as only a top 10 club! that's FACT!
So I for one hope you keep 'moving in the right direction' and as for the games this season where you apprently had us on the ropes, I prefer to look at it like you had no fight at all in 60 mins and its easy to play when your 2-0 down, but we now look at the games against your beloved liverpool as games we NEED to play now and normally just do enough to WIN them, where as your lot go on and on about bad ref calls and dodgy pens so who really is against the ropes? you have more red cards than us in recent times because you can't get close to our QUALITY! where as we exceed yours and some! We knocked you off your perch so long ago its now getting embrassing to call you rivals!

I wondered if Fulham were still listening to our announcer reading the team out, rather than playing, as we kicked off during him reading it. Well something distracted them because from the start they didn't look committed and gave the ball to Rooney in the initial seconds. It seemed like they didn't expect to win and they didn't. Maybe they were deafened by the loud music, why does that announcer play it that loud then when he switches it off the crowd seem almost numb for a time.

To the football, it was a coasting performance from us, we did what we had to, could and should have scored more. Smalling and Jones were outstanding although we still dropped off too much. Anderson had a very good game but needs to work on the defensive side to his game, picking up runners. The powder puff way Fulham played didn't really challenge even our weak midfield so bigger tests will come. Fulham had some good possession at times but as usual with Berbatov playing didn't get behind us. Carrick shows his class and always looks to have so much time on the ball.

Nani does what he usually does, probably one of his better games in recent times, he showed some real skill at times but his final ball, his decision making lets him down. How poor was Rooney for so long, he has had a really bad patch recently but hopefully the skill and the well taken goal will settle him down. I wonder if the fact he has been asked to play in so many positions has affected him.

It was a good almost regulation win against a side who appeared not to believe they could win from the start. One thing stood out for us though and that was the lack of a captain figure. When mistakes were made, dallying in the box, careless play there was no rollicking from the captain, my word Keane or Robson would have sorted it out. Even Vidic doesn't do it. You could see a Keane figure sorting them out but there wasn't even a whimper on the field yesterday. We must get some leadership on the pitch.

so who would you sign? Who out there today looks like a keane type figure. Not in terms of play but in terms of personality.

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree with the Rooney comment, he was woefull from the start... Far worse than Nani who I thought played well and was a little unlucky not to get more out if his performance.

Hopefully Rooney played himself into form, as he got better and better.

For Madrid games we need an in form RVP, Rooney And 2 from 3 of Nani, Welbeck and Tony V as we'll need to be able to break with pace and precision.

I thought Jones showed yesterday that he will be one hell of a centerback, he will be the leader we are looking for I think. Smalling and Jones should start more games together in the middle at the back. I'm sure they will in the less critical cup games next year.

Rafael is just phenomenal. Evra vastly improved, I'm more than happy to keep him and spend bigger on left wing and centre mid.

Finally centre midfield. Carrick looks very good, but Ando and Clevs both seem to lack something playing with him. I would love us to bring in Strootman this week, it would massively improve our options this season and bed him in to hit the ground running next year.

Hoping for a kind FA cup draw, help us rest a few players.

Good post and good point on the captain front. I like Jones & Smalling as a pairing but feel we can be better orgnised and motivated when one of them plays alongside Vidic/Rio. However there are leaders in the team in defence and attack such as Rooney up top he is always barking orders and vidic at the back but we are missing one in midfield I reckon if we got one in midfield we would be a team to reckon with in all competitions. However I can't think of any for the midfield}

Agree1 Disagree0

Players like Keane both in talent and character are hard to find. However there is a real lack of leadership from Evra as captain.

I don't know them but there may be someone on the team with the right personality now. I don't think the captaincy is selected by SAF on character or personality but more age and experience. Why give it to a quiet left back?
Therefore in the present group it needs a better decision, Carrick springs to mind but what is he like as a person? Maybe the selected captain just needs a bit of specialised leadership training, which is available and quite good. Bringing someone in and making them captain would need a real world class player. If I had to guess at one I would look at Schweinsteiger

Suarez for me is a top quality player, but equally a vile human being, if I could take Suarez' skills with Hernandez' personality then I would love him at the club, but his personality would not be good enough for this club. Saying that I do not think Suarez is any better for you than Tevez was for us and he wasn't first choice for us.

Make the most of Suarez Tel as he will be leaving in the summer.

Rather Rooney and RVP than Suarez.

Not fused about Sturridge.

Sterling looks a good player in a poor team. He's also in danger of being burned out too young (like Owen was), but yes, we'd be improved with Sterling in our team right now... All our wingers are in awful form.

Rather be in our position if that's ok... Dominating English football more than any other team in the last 22 years, and set to do the same for many more.

Phil Jones was an absolute rock yesterday. I see him and smalling in the heart of our and england's defence in the future. Reminds me of a young John Terry with more speed and skill.

Phil jones is the english puyol, only better, very similar build, determination and even running style, just lacking the crazy haircut

whilst I agree with the sentiment I disagree with the comparison. Terry is a terrible defender, over hyped because he chucks himself into dangerous situations. But those situations are down to his own making largely due to his poor reading of the game.

Agree3 Disagree2

Completely agree that terry is an awful defender. I think he has been lucky over the last eight years to have two quality centre backs to make him look better than he actually is. First carvaliho for Chelsea and rio of England.

It should have been 6-1 if not for clattenberg and fulham were crap, if they were up for it it could have been a better match

Evening folks.

Was hoping to catch the highlights of the game as I was working today, but some people just don't know when to call it quits and go home, so I'm only in the door now.

Can I get a frank, honest assessment of the game and the player's performances, good and bad, please people?

It was a knock about StevieK. No more really. Fulham were as bad as I have seen them all season. They played with Berbatov and Ruiz, neither of which got up amongst our defenders and failed to cause us any problems. Our defence looked very comfortable throughout, Smalling in particular seemed commanding at the back. The goal we conceded was a pretty basic near post corner when Rooney lost his man. Giggs was at his imperious best IMO showing the same touches of class that he has been showing in recent weeks. Anderson showed why he needs to be play more in the opposition half with a few very good driving runs and a fantastic pass to set up Rooney's goal and Nani didn't dazzle but he kept making runs and looked dangerous on a few occasions. We never really got out of 1st or 2nd gear to be honest so we should be in good shape for the game on Wednesday.

Hey Steve hope your shift wasn't too troublesome. I'm in an analytical mood so here goes with the run down.....

Considering our many changes it was a decent performance with some nice link up play. And a good result of course.

Fulham weren't up to too much so our defence didn't really get tested. Still, Jones and Smalling looked composed and mature when called upon. DDG had very little to do. Rafeal did some good things, as per usual.

Onto midfield, Carrick was his usual self another 7 or 8 out of 10 performance. Anderson was the biggest positive today IMO, drove us forward at times and delivered some tasty through balls/diagonal passes.

Giggs was another positive, possibly our best player on the day, he showed he can still contribute to a high level out on the wing or in advanced positions. Nani was Nani. He beat players like none of our other wingers can do, did some nice link up play but most of his final balls were poor and he was greedy at times.

Rooney was sloppy at times but looked sharp at times too. Lovely finish for his goal and could easily have had a hatrick. Hernandez was his usual self, floated in and out of the game but scored 2 classic striker's goals.

Not many negatives to speak of but then we weren't tested to a great degree. We won, played relatively well and lots of our squad players had a good run out. Oh, and RVP got a well deserved rest of course.

All in all a good day I would say!

Cheers lads. Glad to hear Giggsy put in another good performance - his detractors seem to have gone a bit quiet lately. Still believe he can offer us something in certain games.

Ando coming back is also heartening. I love the guy, and think, if he can stay fit, he could have a big say on whether or not the title comes back to OT.

Glad to see Jones playing well too - such high hopes for him. As I said before, and it was reiterated by someone below, our central defence is in good hands for years to come, with him, Smalling and Evans.

Anyway, cheers lads. Away to bed now - up again at 6. People over here just can't get enough of protesting about one thing or another :)

Same here missed the game and had completely forgotten we had an FA cup tie and go figure, I have bet pretty much every game we have played and taken the over and us winning and been getting killed the last few weeks and end up not betting on yesterdays game the easy money.

I guess I should take the under in the Southampton game lol glad we won won easily by the feedback on the game. Saw the highlights and we missed a lot of opportunities.

City is in good form with quite a stingy defense, we need someone to take some points off of them.

Laurent blanc was old! Hangeland would be a good short term option whilst jones smalling and Evans sort them selves out

Sort themselves out? Care to expand?

We don't need a CB and quite loaded in that area already with Vidic and Ferdinand being first choice for the big games.
