The latest name we're being linked to in the media is Antero Henrique for DOF or 'market man' as the reports call it.
Do any of the eds know if there is any truth in this?

{Ed002's Note - He is available and has been speaking with another side. I have been travelling and can’t provide confirmation but he might be someone they would consider - but timing wise it is not a good time.}

Cheers Ed002, the first reports came from France and Italy so maybe not Woodward’s PR men putting it out there.

{Ed002's Note - The next few days are busy for me but I will try to find out.}

Northampton or Derby next round of FA Cup. Could be facing Rooney and Co, I wouldn't put it past him scoring against us.

If he does would you expect him to celebrate or not?

27 Jan 2020 22:44:26
Yeah of course. It doesn’t have to be Adebayor, knee sliding celebrations but I think all players should when they score against former clubs.

I'm in two minds about it. Personally I think its very situational.

For example a journeyman striker who has 4 or 5 ex-clubs and has never settled anywhere for long is unlikely to have a serious attachment, and the fans are also unlikely to have an attachment to that player. So I don't see any issue with celebrating a goal.

But then when a player has been at a club for more than 10 years, or if that player has a emotional attachment to that club, and the fans to that player. Then not celebrating is a respectful nod to all that the player and the previous club achieved together.

It will be interesting to see what happens if he does score against us. Ronaldo wasn't with us that long, but has always been respectful when he has scored against us. Rooney was with us longer, and achieved more, it will be interesting to see if he shows the same respect.

Of course it’s circumstantial, Rooney left and has played for Everton, DC and now Derby and will give 100% to any team he plays for.
I’d expect him to celebrate in some capacity, like Ronaldo did. They are there to win a football match after all.
I hate it when a player gestures a ‘sorry’ to the fans when scoring against a former club.

Its taken us an entire month to work on 1 transfer, so far unsuccessfully. Those thinking that we can complete 4-5 signings in the summer please take note. With the euros on this year it will make talks more difficult anyway, nevermind our amateurish tactics. I really thought we would get at least 2 in this month but it looks increasingly unlikely.

we were told in the summer we had a plan. so what's happend to all these players we wanted in the summer?

27 Jan 2020 10:22:52
C'mon mate we have a masterplan for this summer. Signing players now would ruin it 🤔🤦‍♂️.

I have it on good authority that Ed is driving a bus with Cesc, Gaitin, Fernandes, Haaland, Sneijdigerh, Vidal, and Ronaldinho to Carrington as we speak.

To be honest I am struggling to understand the logic that the club would happily spend 50m on Fred but not on Bruno Fernandes.

The club know the price, they have well scouted the player, and they know the team has a need for him. Just make the deal happen and stop playing silly buggers.

one window try two.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Jan 2020 19:58:52
Don't we tend to scout and show an interest in one window. And only buy that player in the following one.
So look for who we are talking about now and that's our summer purchase.
Did urgently needed.

People talk as if this is a new thing. We tried to sign Hargreaves but wouldn't pay what Bayern wanted. We went back a year later and paid it. That was over 10 years ago.

The Galzers are planning a dividend Payment in May.

They need to leave enough Cash to pay for this. For example we had to sell Lukaku to fund Maguire. The money isn’t there.

WTF is going on? There is only one loser with the recent no action window. Sporting, the player and United all want this deal and if it doesn't happen, the loser is United. Sporting keep a great player, the player carries on and United miss out on a player that could really help us, over a few million quid. Its not the time for pennypinching, we NEED quality NOW!

{Ed002's Note - He may have other options as I have explained BF is being offered to other sides.}

Adel Taarabt

Talent i feel is overrated, no matter how talented you are if you won't work hard then no amount of talent will get to on the top.
Players with Discipline and Hard work will always be ahead of just talented guys, Taraabt is a similar case.

Eds, who do you think was not very talented but made it on the top with his hard work?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - Sammy Lee? John O'Shea? To be honest none of them get to the top without hard work at some stage, the problem usually is that they get ahead of their peers at a young age and then coast. The ones that usually go furthest are the ones that are not at the top of their age group and so have to continue to work to try and catch up.}

27 Jan 2020 09:58:37
I agree ED, for me its Dirk Kuyt.

Ed001, John O’Shea was the most naturally talented lb/ rb/ cb/ cdm/ cm/ gk to ever grace Old Trafford. Figo almost retired after the incident.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I thought he almost retired because of the shame of being nutmegged by someone so totally hopeless? I know you are tongue in cheek, but seriously do you not think it shows how bad a player he was that everyone remembers that moment? I mean how many people remember the times a quality player did that? I have been doing research on an article about O'Shea, and I was wondering if it was that unusual a feat or if it was just because it was him. So I started taking notice of each time I watched a game and saw someone get nutmegged. It lasted 3 games before I stopped bothering as I had already run out of fingers and toes to count them on!

O'Shea is one of my favourite non-Liverpool players ever, purely because he gives us all hope we could have made it and won lots of trophies. I think teams need more O'Sheas to encourage kids to play and dream about being players. The ones that will never make it but will kick it about it the park and encourage others to play too, before the real game dies out at a grassroots level.

Though I am disappointed in you Danny, I just noticed you forgot about his stint as a striker!!! Maybe that is what Ole needs to do now, put Jones up front?}

27 Jan 2020 13:03:36
I knew he played as a striker, but second guessed myself.

I genuinely love O’Shea because of his attitude. Like you say, the youth system today seems to be geared toward discovering technical ability and skill. O’Shea was just a really big and strong young lad who applied himself to become a dependable Premier League player. Think Fergie knew the importance of having players like this in the squad. McTommany is potentially one in a similar mould.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - you need a bit of everything in a squad and that is vanishing you are right.}

27 Jan 2020 13:13:37
Even CR7 has a great work ethic. Whatever ones level of natural talent it will be enhanced by hard work. However football remains a team game, and however much hard work you put in to enhance your own gifts, if the team doesn't play as a team, it will come to nothing. That's the beauty of players like John O'Shea. Not only did they work hard, they understood and filled their role within the team. They allowed the flair of others to shine.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - Shanks used to say you needed 8 to do the carrying and 3 to play the tune.}

27 Jan 2020 14:22:17
You all missed O’shea’s delicate little lob against Arsenal away 2-4. Cantona-esque celebration too.
I think it was overlooked because the Keane/ Vieira tunnel bust up before kickoff.

I will always value hard/ team work above unfulfilled quality.

Ed001 don’t you dare slag off Sheasy! He’s got that winner at the Kop to his name 😉.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I wouldn't dream of slagging him off. I am not sure how you can slag him off, I mean saying he was crap is bigging him up ;-)

It is just a shame more players don't have his attitude to the game. He just wanted to play and didn't care if it wasn't his position or what the tactics were. All he was bothered about was playing the game. You have to love that.}
