we could of had a team like this :

de gea

rafa
vidic
smalling
enrique(?)

young
parker
adam
cleverley
nani

rooney

those 3 players (adam, parker, enrique) would of cost no more than 25m.

i know their not brilliant but surely it's better than what we have.

Oh my word, you Pool boys are completly off your nuts, you really do need to stop putting mushrooms in with ya coffee. You played a good game today, well done, but you did'nt manage to score and were lucky to get a draw through an own goal. Now, tomorrow when you have come down and feel hung over come back on this page, read your rubbish and realise just how delusional you really are.... HERBIE

Watching Charlie A**m and even though I was adamant he was not good enough I think he is better than what we have excluding Carrick and possibly Cleverley.

For £6m did we miss out? I think possibly as a last resort behind Sniejder, Nasti and Ozil.

Watching the Liverpool and Manchester City game atm, City just scored btw, however I have been watching Aguero and the runs he has been making are really good, btw Liverpool just scored. I think if we had the resources in the summer that we should have had he would have been the perfect partner for Rooney, however it is clear we would not be able to afford him now so if we were to get a striker to replace Berbatov, Owen, Diouf and Macheda who all look likely to leave who would you pick? The names I would suggest.. Higuain, Benzema, Van Persie..

Choose two of:-
1.) Javi Martinez, Yann M'Vila, Sven Bender, Jack Rodwell for BOX-TO-BOX/DEFENSIVE midfielders.
2.) Bastian Schwienstieger, Luka Modric, Nicolas Gaitan, Mario Gotze,Granit Xhaka for Attacking Midfielders.
3.) Giussepe Rossi, Gonzalo Higuain, Robin Van Persie, Ricky Van Wolfswinkel, Hulk for strikers who could hold possession and/or replace Rooney when injured or suspended.
4.) Jordi Alba, Emillio Izzaguire, Leighton Baines, Alvaro Pereira, Bruno Soriano(also DM) for LeftBacks.
My obvious choice would be Javi Martinez, Luka Modric, Gonzalo Higuain and Jordi Alba coming in for around 80m and getting rid of Gibson, Evra, Fletcher/Carrick, Park, Owen, Diouf, Drinkwater, De Laet, Giggs(retirement), Anderson, Berbatov, Kuszcack for around 64m. Finally promote Pogba, Morrison, Petrucci, Fryers and Brady, let Tunniclife, Will Keane, Norwood, Thorpe and Macheda go to a PL team on Loan.
What do you think guys?

League games played so far.

Barcelona: PLD 13 W 8 D 4 L 1

United: PLD 13 W 9 D 3 L 1

From these figures I think it's quite clear that United are superior to Barca in just about every way. They could learn a lot from us.

Re Manny Gabbiadini

We mustn't forget that we do have young Will Keane & Ravel Morrison who are attacking players. I would hate to see them get blocked out by a player a couple of years older than them. I am with 'Red Man' when I say an established striker would be a better move. Although if we could use Macheda in a swap deal with the Atalanta player then we would have made room and wouldn't have to spend much money. If we flog Diouf & Berbatov and release Owen, we could in theory bring in a youngster and an experienced striker. Someone like Van Persie? But LB & CM should be a priority between now and next season. Jack Rodwell, Emilio Izaguirre & an experienced striker would be enough IMO.

Ive been seeing a lot of negativity about us as a team recently. I just want to put something across. As United fans none of us like to admit how good city are becoming, whether its luck, a good streak or their team has glued together finally. No shame in admitting it, because they are coming on strong and it will be probably the toughest title race in the EPL yet.

My point is, we have 19 titles. Its gonna take them 18 titles to "eclipse" us as such. They may win this season's title, im not gonna deny that. But if they do, you have to think Fergie aint gonna let it happen again. And he'll do everything in his power to change around the squad and bring in the right players. All you complaining, "we need more CM" yeah we do. But do you think fergies just gonna jump in for somebody in January just cos we're suffering from injuries etc?

Ive never seen fans have such little faith in our players since i can remember. GET BEHIND YOUR TEAM. Accept that we wont do business in january just for the sake of being behind City in the League. The fact is, City dont have the experience our players do. They may have talent and cash but we have a die hard spirit that no other team has. We dont stop till the final whistle. Its not even January yet, and by the sounds of it most of our fans have already written our own chances off!

Rant over!

To be honest I would be delighted if we carried our policy of buying young, and i think the young lad from Atalanta would be fantastic. He looks good, and he looks quite marketable as well.

Vadillo would also be good, but i would love Hazard to come in. It would be fantastic. Id be happy with Alba, Vadillo, Gabbadarini(excuse spelling) and an experienced midfielder. Sneijder will be the first choice, but Modric would fit into what we have like a glove.

We would love a new striker, but Gabbadarini would be a good prospect.

Yesterday was just one of those days. We could have been there all night and not got another goal. A positive that we should take is that we created a lot of chances, as we did against Benfica. We should be more worried if we weren't creating the chances at all! We will start to find the net eventually. Onwards and upwards, and come on the 'Pool! (Never thought I'd say that publicly!)

If you don't want to turn it into a United/Liverpool debate then don't criticise the Liverpool players! it's not that hard to work out is it.

I'm so tired of Liverpool fans just hi-jacking every single post. I genuinely did not mean this as an insult to the Liverpool midfield - I didn't even say ours was better, I simply said that we are at least as good as you.

But you fly off the handle about one ambiguous comment in a huge post. It's just so boring scrolling through here every day to the constant barrage of rubbish from Liverpool fans. This is not banter, it's just you lot disagreeing with everything anybody says. My thread was intended to reassure United fans, and with them, talk about our midfield.

I'm sorry if my post caused confusion, it was not intended.

But you're all very annoying and I wish you'd occasionally just leave something. You're like rabid dogs honestly..

There is a lot of posts on here about perhaps choosing a 4-3-3 formation in place of the existing 4-4-2. I disagree with this idea. We often play 4-5-1 in Europe, which tends to morph into 4-3-3 during the more attacking stages of the game and I don't think the team play as well.

My first issue with this is the lack of width to the team. I understand that we often leave two men in the middle facing three, but our wide options force the opposition teams middle three to come out looking for the ball, leaving space in the middle.

My second issue with 4-3-3 is playing a lone striker, because this is always what tends to happen if we're having a tough game. It'll turn into 4-5-1 and Rooney will be left up there on his own, getting frustrated.

I believe our width, and pace down the wings, crosses and heading ability are some of the our major strong points. People have said before that we don't have a big man up front to aim at, but Chica showed several times yesterday how capable he is of heading, and leaping very high for someone his size. Rooney is also more than capable of scoring with his head, and if their too high he can always just score an overhead kick!

I think people are shouting for a change to tactics now out of worry and fear. Don't forget how we played at the beginning of the season, 4-4-2 but beautiful flowing football. This is possible, you do not need to adopt a 4-3-3 formation to playing flowing football.

We have been unlucky with some key injuries and it's a real shame, but the season is by no means over - after Christmas we'll be knocking in goals left right and centre.

Vidic header hits Krul on the Chest, Hernandez header cleared off the line. When its not your day its not your day lads and lasses. Hate to have to admit it but if they beat them today, I think its all over. It will be a straight scrap between 5 teams for the remaining 3 positions which in itself should be interesting anyway. They have bought the title with a formidable squad, no argument. Personally I would prefer it to be over now, than to be pipped by them in April or May. Could you imagine a summer with all that.

I think we will bring in personnel in Jan, Probably Tiote from the Toon being one

Yesterday game, we created many chances, okay!
Most of them just after Newcastle scored and happened the same against Benfica. We only react or look seriously for the goal when the time is going or when we suffer one. It was a good attitude we've yesterday after the penalty and makes me wonder, why?
Why we run more after a goal?
We won't win every game by 2 or 3 but for does not matter who we play against, games at home is to Win.

I know everybody will jump on me saying but we did played well and the penalty... whatever! We also scored goals from Ghost penalties, so stop blaming the ref every time we don't win. If City win todays game, it will be extremely difficult to catch them again and don't come up with histories that after Christmas we do well. We maybe get better but definitely with new players.

Shapps.

I think the problem we have in hanging to4-3-3 is SAF. Now he has always been a little lacking with the tactical side hence the work we used to see being done by Carlos Q and McClaren. Phelan is a coach not a tactician. He should not be doing that job. The mentality of keeping those jobs in house doesn't give the scope for new ideas or differing techniques. Imo assistants should always be outside men. Not only will they breathe new life in but also if they have travelled well will have picked up bits and pieces on how to counter problems or change tactics at the right time. If you watch Phelan any time during the game he just sits there and will listen to SAF. Very, very rarely do you see him instigating some obvious tactical discussion where he is looking to put some input forward. looking back we could always see Carlos, Steve or Brian badgering SAF about one thiing or another. Now when you look at the bench we have 2 static men sitting next to fergie ready to agree with every word falling from his mouth.

Also Saf must see that sticking with wingers will counter the lack of width in the other teams only problem is with 2 v 3 in the middle we have less of the ball than we did before and because of that the system fails.

4-3-3 with plan b of 4-2-3-1 for me.

Things even itself out over a season. We have hundreds of dodgy penalty decisions over the years. Fergies outburts makes him seem like a bully and bad loser. We have to respect officials decisions even if it was wrong one.

I know we have other issues to sort out first but Ruben Rochina has been a player thats been catching my eye alot since i saw him score that belter against our resevres. He can play anywhere across the front line and has a great first touch, awearness, passing, movement, vision and a thunderous left foot shot. He's been trained by Barca and i think it shows, He has 6 goals in 10 games for a very poor blackburn side and i think he could be the next gem we could relieve them of. He wouldn't cost a fortune and would give us another dimension upfront for a minimal cost, maybe even a swap with either Macheda or Diouf. Barca do have a habit of letting a few very good players slip through their fingers...Alba for example. I think they do have a buy back option on him though but doubt they would activate it if we moved for him, but the fact they had it put in i think shows they feel he could come good.

What do you guys think?
