If you were to have an Arsenal midfielder, who would you lot choose wilshere or Nasri for centre midfield? I just can't pick one.

The very last space shuttle mission made the most remarkable space discovery in the shuttle programmes history. On their way back to earth they spotted Chris Waddle's world cup '90 penalty shoot-out ball drifting in outer-space.

would hate Mata to move to Arsenal. 2 reasons.
1. You will never hear the end of it from Arsenal fans and how they will win the league.
2. He is a QUALITY player who deserves to be at a club where he is winning trophies. I.e us.

However if he does join arsenal then it may free up Nasri to move but then there is city involved. So who knows but i would love Afellay as i have stated along with Sneijder and Diarra as holding Mid. Would be unstoppable. Then we can say bring on barca.
Thoughts Ed ?

"Modric & Sneijder are different players, "

Sydney!

I nominate the above as quote of the day.

Actually, are you sure they are different? I'm sure they have morphed together as Wesluka Sneijdric.

Sydney. Please create a website and start blogging. With observations like this you could win footy comedy blogger of the year.

You make me smile because you take yourself so seriously. Keep it coming

Before you reply saying "I was comparing their style of play you plum", I know mate, just having a little jest.

Didn't get to see the game last night some of us have to go to work lol.
Was wondering what people thought, I heard that Berba had a great game think that's a great boost for him and hope he stays with us and has a successful season.
We should sort his contract out though.

Just been sitting back reading peoples posts , watching the transfer market and watching the friendly matches that we have played. I havent posted in a while and im not being downhearted or negative but if people really think we ll win the league next year then i completely disagree. Last season was a weird season and granted we won the league , but really cant see chelsea , city, pool or arsenal being as poor as they were last year. We have lost players and weakened our squad. Although we have signed the players we have jones is a future prospect and de gea will take time to adapt to english game IMO. Young will be good with better players with him. But these buys will not win us the league and will not get us nowhere near to barca. We need signings and better quality signings. Im not panicing yet coz still a month to go so plenty of time but if we dont strengthen then were going to struggle and can see us 3rd or 4th. For example what would we do if rooney gets injured and out for 3-4 months ? What happens when we get injuries. Yes we have players to fill in but Berbie, owen, morrison, pogba, gibson, etc aint going to keep the wagon rolling beating teams like barca , chelsea etc. Other teams are making strong signings and it seems very much so to me that this may have to be a rebuilding season for us. We need at least two quality signings to really have any major hopes of challenging in competitions. I just hope and pray we do . TORQS

Having watch Ashley Young through his days at Watford and Villa, and seen him on the USA tour to date, I just can't see him improving on our current wide options of Nani, Valencia and Park. Even Cleverley can play wide. I still can't understand the 16m investment when we need to stengthen in CM. On the other hand, Phil Jones is going to be the dogs in my opinion. Watch out for him in a developing starring role as a defensive midfielder in the coming season.

Am I the onli one who is glad city got aguero? i realise he's a great talent but honestly i dont see him cutting it in the prem at all There gonna really struggle if Tevez go's, he's one of the 4 players in the world who are actualy irreplacable the other 3 being Rooney, Ronaldo and Messi.
I'm glad they got aguero rather than them getting Eto'o or someone like that. As for united we defo need to sign sneijder, hes the ideal midfielder, i'd have him over nasri everyday of the week. Everyone talks about Ganso, Pastore cos they are young but u have to realise this isnt football manager, half the people on here play that game and think they kno everything about these players, i bet no one watches palermo or santos week in week out to even know anything about them. Same with Nasri, he had a good 3 months thats it, bet before the rumours came out nobody would have said oh nasri is the man we need. Sneijder is proven at every level, and should have won world player of the year last year, aswell as being the best player at the world cup. oh yh n who ever "THE NEVILLER" is, wot a absolute mong

Having read the quotes from Sergio Aguero I now think him and City are well suited. They both clearly see themselves as something much bigger than they actually are. They are welcome to him IMO.

I'm very excited that Fergie says Owen will recieve a bigger role to play this season. If he keeps away from injury he can score 15 goals for us this season. He is the best finisher i've ever seen, just need to feed him the ball.

As for who to play in the charity shield? Owen's 95th minute goal against city 18 months ago should earn him that place

If we dont make any signings will our best midfield be?

LW - Nani/ Young
MC - Carrick
MC - Anderson
RW - Valencia

For me ideally it has to be

LW - Nani
MC - Modric
MC - Anderson
RW - Valencia

only with a midfield like that will we win the champions league. (Or if Barca aren't in the final)

Thoughts, Ideas, Replies and Modric rumours, please.

The longer we delay in getting ''anyone'' into either of the midfield berths the greater the distance between us and barca will grow. I'm not overly worried by the threat of others to the Prem with what we have at the moment but if we are to succeed in Europe then we MUST invest and soon and in quality. This inactivity in the market is'nt good for ones health

Crikey Late night was it boys? Are the Eds even out of bed yet? Maybe Im getting old but I sky plus'd it to watch this morning. Decent performance, Berbatov played well. Will be interesting to see if anything happens with the Vucinic link. Did this performance cement his place in the squad for the season or merely confirm SAF's valuation of the player? Only time will tell I guess.

Make no mistake Sergio Aguero is a genuinely world class footballer who could make a massive impact on the premiership. There is no point coming on here calling him a mercenary. He is an Argentinian plying his trade in Europe so he is obviously over here for the money as most South Americans are. Can any of you with your hand on your hearts say he wouldn't have made our team better. When players of his quality become availible we should be able to compete for his signature but the financial constraints that Fergie works under mean that he was out of our price range. My only hope is that Mancini will not get the best out of him because of his style of management but they are starting to bother me now as they are building a very strong squad and the old days of "Oh well it's City and they will always Mess up" may be gone. I expect them to push very hard for the premiership and only the fact of them playing champions league games may stop them. Someone please tell me that there is nothing to worry about and he isn't all that....RAINFISHTROMBONE

City got Sergio Aguero, you got Ashley Young lol.

Blair Mayne YNWA......................And you got some fat bloke from Blackpool what's your point. I think what you are worried about is the fact that Manchester now has the biggest club in the world and now also the richest club in the world. You really are facinated by us aren't you. But then again when all you have to look forward to is mid table mediocrity and a short run in a domestic cup competition City and us must seem so glamorous to you. With your nosed pressed against the window of big teams wishing you were in there with us in the warmth rather than on the outside looking in. Oh wait just a minute I forgot you have got King Kenny back and that means that you will win everything as he will work miracles like he did at Newcastle and Celtic. Blaire I now only feel Pity for you as you show all the symptoms of small club mentality fixated with us....RAINFISHTROMBONE

do you guys think we have a bit of a ploblem now?
we have two very good goalkeepers who are both young and ready to go. How do we keep them both happy? we all no lindegaard wants to be number 1 and de gea is number 1.

A good problem I admit but a problem never the less.

Not real impressed with Young or Diouf, although the second half has not been as good as the first overall. I was pretty impressed with Ando first half with his offensive skills but he has not been closing down too well (except for that fantastic tackle on Becks). Lind was real good. Not a bad game at all.

The Neviller {Ed007's Note - A witch hunt against you? It is you that keeps posting direct posts to RFT. You have asked him the same questions over and over again and he has told you that he does not want to enter any discussion with you. That is his prerogative, as is yours to question him. Practically every post you have posted has referenced something he has said "against" you, even to others who have tried to engage you in a discussion, you have had to go back to something RFT has said to you. He has made his opinion regarding you abundantly clear so why to you keep persisting with the topic? Others have questioned RFT and if he responds he responds, if he doesn't they do not keep harping on about it and brining it up. There has been others on here who have been targeted in the same way and I will not put up with it, it is as simple as that. You, along with everyone else are entitled to your opinion, but why you need to keep referencing RFT escapes me. Others have came on and disagreed with you but they don't seem to warrant the same level of infatuation from you. I suggest you continue posting your opinions without trying to curry favour by constantly trying to belittle another regular poster.}

I, the Neviller wish to take this opportunity to bury the hatchet with RAINFISHTROMBONE. I think he's a thoroughly good guy and his love for Manchester United can not be questioned. I bear him no malice, he made a simple error of judgement and I'm happy to let bygones be bygones and we can all get on with supporting the club we love.

On the young buy. The reasoning behind it my thinking. Probably stating the obvious. Simply to be able to have more interchange between the front attackers. Also Someone more consistent with crosses from the left. More direct. Also handy dead ball player. For me you could have a team out of rooney nani young anderson could drop park into mid and the interchange and passing and speed of counter attack has more options and balance than without young. Add to that the twins and the attacking potential will be outstanding. Defenders will be dragged all over the place. None of the attackers will have to be static. Can't wait till there all in tune to each other. You could even drop valencia in at right back. Or swap berb or chica with park or fletch carrick ect for 442. So for the interchanging and link up play potential i'd argue young IS an improvement to the team. Ha and lay off obe.s back. He's proving himself well enough preseason. He's good on the ball good at link up can put in dangerous crosses and is faster than any of the other options. Knows how to score. believe me. You want him to work out Cons red

@herbie .. That would be a good deal. But if we just got de rossi I would be very pleased: he'd be a great defensive midfielder. If we got him and someone like nasri or snejider we'd be a very hard team to beat. We could sell Carrick Gibson and Anderson then. Keep fletcher and cleverly as back up. Our midfield line up could be. Valencia de rossi snejider/nasri young/nani very exciting . Jason mc

I don't understand why people keep going on and on and on about Rainfishtrombone..sure he's being a mong, but if he believes those who live around OT are the only ones to support United, then so be it.

Similarly, if he believes that the Glazers are 'TERRIBLE' owners then so be it.

Every human being in this world has his or her own opinion and nine times out of ten they cannot be changed.

I prefer to come onto this site to read and post about United, not 24/7 about a lad who most disagree with.

Get over it, and get on with United.

MPez {Ed007's Note - I can only post what comes in MPez. It has been going on all day, though I am not going to allow it to become a witch hunt against RFT. That isn't favouritism towards anyone or me taking sides, as other people know I don't like or allow that kind of behaviour.}
