Although I'd had a massive gutsful of the whole Sneijder saga last summer (and sorry for bringing his name back up too!) but if we could get him between now and next season for £25m or less (and at a not too outrageous-a-salary) i would certainly entertain the idea

would it not be more sensible than bidding up to £40m for the likes of Gotze or other young supertars when we have our own in the making? Cleverly, Pogba, Tunnicliffe, Morrison and so on

Banter please

Having Seen Rooney play deep quite alot this season i've come to the conclusion that he's not ready to play in midfield yet, too often he looks for the blockbuster pass rather than whats best for the team. Also since he started dropping really deep(since the City game) we have only managed a goal a game. He is our best attacking player and we need him where he can do the most damage....up front. His movement and ability to find space and make the most of it.

Someone asked about Rasmus Elm, well i've only seen him a few times so have limited knowledge on him. From what i've seen he's a decent player he's got Rory Delap's throw in ability Charlie Adam's deadball skills and the passing and movement of someone like Tim Cahill, So IMO unless he could significantly up his game then he'd only be a squad player with us all be it a very good one. He's also spent most of the last two years injured. I think because he's got an excotic sounding name people will listen to the rumour if his name was Micky Smith and he played for Coventry then noone would bat an eyelid. The source is from a swedish newspaper who spoke to his agent, me being scynical thinks this was just abit of a name drop for his agent trying to drum up interest and a swedish paper trying to increase sales.

To pass the time on this site, and to get away from the constant goings on between rival clubs, if you could choose any three Players for us to sign in the summer, who would they be. Plus, no Ronaldo, Messi etc..

So, i'll start it off:

Mario Gotze - I've been watching the lad for two years now (since he made the Dortmund team) and have been impressed with 9/10 of his matches.

Eden Hazard - like with Gotze I have been watching him since he made the Lille team and in almost every single one of his games he hasn't disappointed (ie. Had a shocker).

Edinson Cavani - some may say we would never be able to sign him, however I strongly disagree. I think he would be absolutely perfect for the style of football we play. I love watching Cavani play and would love him at United.

Everybody please join in, including Ed's.

MPez {Ed004's Note - Martinez, Gotze and Bale}

United shud av a look at Borja Valero. I think he's one of the most under rated players in Europe. Could probly get him for about £8-10 million. Barca wer lining him up in the summer just in case cesc never happened. He's a class act!

Big Mac {Ed002's Note - Everton, Sunderland and Leicester all looked at the ex-West Brom player. He is a very long way from Barcelona or Manchester United quality.}

Sydney mate i think you missed my point. I said we need five or six players in but i said we'd most likely only sign three and the rest would come from our youth.

Why is the media and rival fans constantly harping on about Manchester United. We are champions of England, simples!!
Today on the radio it was all about city and how United fans are worried, but want admit it. I have no concern of city at all and i'm sure most on this site want. City's weakness is their english players, you watch liverpool, qpr or bolton and you will notice that the players letting them down are lescott, barry, milner, johnson. Until they replace these, they want win anything of substance. you will see the spainish based players, becoming fatigued during christmes as they are not acustumed to playing through the cold weather. I say by the end of the christmas period we will be above them or level with them.
We definetly need a cm in january, but we played well against newcastle just one of those frustrating games when the opposing goalkeeper saves everything. Worst thing is Newcastle will probably lose 4 or 5 nil next game.
City where weak yesterday, the defence couldn't hack the pressure put on them. it was a disapointing weekend in terms of points, but very rewarding in seeing city's frailties at the back.

I think that we are five or six players away. A left back, a centre back, two centre mids and depending on sales either a left winger or a striker more likely a striker. Also i don't think we will buy six players more like three and the rest will come from youth.

I think Liverpool look certain to finish 6th after their two recent results. I was torn between 6th and 7th, but I believe they have 6th place written all over them now. Liverpool fans are celebrating a 1.1 draw at home, but are actually worse off now than they were on Saturday. They got one point Sunday, as did City, Newcastle, United & Arsenal, but Spurs and Chelsea who are in competition for a top four spot ahead of them both moved two more points clear of them. So Perhaps the celebrations are a little silly.

On another note we missed a great chance to close the gap to three points this weekend. City still have to play Chelsea & Arsenal so perhaps there's opportunities to close the gap there? We have now played Arsenal, Chelsea, City, Spurs, Newcastle & Liverpool so we need to concentrate on winning the rest of the games up until January now. Chelsea still have to play Newcastle, City & Spurs, so we do have a good opportunity to put some points between us and Chelsea.

Sydney!"""

dear mr sydney
ngiak applauds your really warped sense of logic
tough games at home played now
translates to all the big teams away in the run in

and didnt a certain team lose to man city 6-1 at home?
does that mean this team will finish below a team that drew with man city?
ngiak is astounded at your audacity to make fun at pool when you are actually making our beloved club look very very inferior and unprofessional.
well done old friend

Over the past few weeks of watching United, i really feel that I have come up with quite a good plan for the future. Its bound to be different to what SAF will do - but i think it would be good.

In goal we are sound, i think Amos may move on though as it is so hard for a young goalkeeper to make an impact. Sam Johnstone will probably take his place.

Defensively there may well be changes. At the end of this season, and certainly by the end of the 2012/2013 season Evra and Ferdinand need to be replaced. Im not convinced that either will go this season, but I think that Adil Rami from Valencia would be a fine replacement for Rio. He'd be on 50k a week max, that would be about a 60k p/w saving on wages. Likewise with Evra - Alba, Baines or Izaguirre would be a lot less than Evra. But a part of me thinks that Evra will stay, nurture Fabio and Fryers and then move on.

So that leaves a defence of: Rafael, Fabio, Fryers, Evans, Smalling, Jones, Rami, Vidic.

Midfield is the area for the greatest change, I think all areas could improve. I think two main players could change everything, with a couple of youngsters also. I would get rid of Carrick and replace him with Rodwell - like for like - but better. He would be brilliant box-to-box and i really hope that we can bring him in. The 'landmark' signing i would go for is Ozil - if possible. If not Ozil then Gotze would be wonderful. Playing attacking players of Nani, Rooney and Ozil would be great as they can all swap and move around. Behind them a midfield comprised of either Rodwell, Fletcher, Cleverly, Anderson.

If Ozil came in then Valencia OR Park would have to go, and Giggs would either be fringe or retired. Morrison and Pogba could both be integrated in that system, Morrison could be played in the whole with Rooney pushed up front. That way he doesn't have the pressure of a cm and the responsibility making his integration easier. A young talented winger who is skillful would be on my list - and for his age there is no one better than Vadillo - for 2.5 million in january he is a bargain witha huge resale value.

Midfielders: Rodwell, Fletcher, Anderson, Cleverly, Ozil, Nani, Young, Valencia, Pogba, Morrison, Vadillo.

Up top, there needs to be more departures than in comings. I'd like to se Bebe perform well next season and for him to have his chance. Aside from that-Berbatov and Owen should leave, Berbatov in January and Owen in summer. Perhaps we could swap Macheda with Gabbadini but i think Macheda could be good. Hopefully he can get some game time on loan and have he same impact that Welbeck has had. If we have surplus budget then maybe bring in another 'name' if they are afforddable - i don't think we would do that though. This may seem a bit 'out there' but Del Piero wouldn't be bad for his final season in football, and i think he does want to come here. Alternatively we go for Erick Torres, cheap, quick, skillful and a great finisher. He would be my pic - but Del Piero could be the next Henrik Larsson.

Playing a 4-2-3-1 wouldnt require us to buy another striker, as Rooney either plays behind Chicha, Welbeck or Macheda. Or he plays up top with Ozil behind him.

Forward line: Rooney, Chicharito, Welbeck, Macheda, (Del Piero?), W.Keane, E.Torres.

Just to reiterate thats:

Kuscack, Ferdinand, Evra, Carrick, Park, Giggs, Berbatov, Owen, Diouf, Macheda (loan) and also the likes of Drinkwater, King and James who won't make it. This would take about 400k p/w off of the wage bill. Bringing in just Ozil, Rodwell, Rami, Vadillo and one of Torres/Del Piero would cost significantly less in terms of wages so it makes financial sense. At max it would be a 250k p/w which is a saving of 150k.

I hope you can see some sense in my argument, and would like to here your feedback!

Fergie has said he wants to sign someone but there are only 3-4 players he thinks are up to it plus he said its very difficult in january. Unlikely that we will sign anyone but what with City in the form that they are and our Midfield in desperate need on new energy could it be possible, i think WS might come in, Inter have had a difficult start and he would cost less than he did in the summer but we will see.

saw online that we may be signing rodwell then loaning gibson and macheda for rest of season with option to buy gibson at end
originally thought was load o crap but when think about it, it sorta makes sense as have a good relationship with everton and gives both players game time which not getting here
on another note have noticed the odds for us signing hamsik have dropped recently, i dont know if this is due to the injuries to anderson and clev or if we have been linked to the player

Watched the Liverpool V Man City game today. I thought (contrary to some of the opinions on here) that Liverpool were fantastic.

Pepe Reina was brilliant, demonstrating his speed, and resolve in a couple of situations, his tackle on Aguaro was also pretty funny.

That left flank (though Downing was fairly wasteful on occasion) was brilliant. Enrique was excellent as was Glen Johnson. Don't need to say anything about Lucas, I think he showed me up for stating my doubt in a previous post. Charlie Adam was great, showed a lot of passion and resolve. He may not have done anything spectacular but he certainly showed Man City's midfield that he wasn't a push over and did it without breaking a leg this time.

Saurez, what can I say - don't like him one bit, but what a great striker..

Only weak note was Henderson in my opinion, but if so many say he has talent, I don't think I've watched him enough to give an overall opinion, just looked nervous today.

Exciting game, great to watch - I'm happy for Liverpool, they deserved a point and I'm thankful that we're not 7 points behind!

"They are always the same, they win (or draw to a bigger team) and they think they are the best team in the world....then they lose to a barnsley or northampton or draw to norwich and swansea...then their fans are saying how poor they are... don't listen to them they talk rubbish."

This is a ridiculous statement. Many United fans do this on here, daily.

A Lot of people supporting different clubs do this, daily.

Don't be so hypocritical, and don't single out Liverpool.
