Scholes, Giggs and Keane cannot be replaced, they did a lot for the club. And no two players are the same which is why it is proving hard to replace Scholes (recently) and we have missed the discipline Keane had. Giggs i dont think anybody will come close to what player he is. I think Fergie has realised this and is generally going to move for players that he can start to build into this new generations team.

Its clear we need a midfielder, some of you think even two. Football changes and changes and with that so is our style of play. We rely less on crossing nowadays than that of we used to. Our fullbacks become more and more attacking. Fergie is slowly trying to turn the play into the fast flowing play of Barcelona by my viewing. Only an opinion dont shoot me down for it.

Hopefully between now and next season we see some more quality come in. Fergie rarely gets it wrong, which is why i will be content with no activity in the transfer window if Fergie thinks we dont need strengthening/right player isnt available.

My Two Cents ;)

Outs:

Gibson - 4m
Kuszscak - 2m
Diouf - 5m
Berbatov - 10-15m
Owen - released
Drinkwater - 1m (approx)
James - 1m

Ins:

Subotic - 15-20m
Alba - Out of contract in Summer?
Martinez - 30m (at most)
Shaqiri - 20m
Cavani - 30-35m

and young talents Iturbe and Oscampos who could be great IMO

Smalling---Vidic---Subotic---Alba

Martinez---Cleverly/Jones

Nani---Rooney---Shaqiri/Young

Cavani

I understand rb is not Smallings best position but argubly out best in that position. I also did not exceed the 100m account but feel that team could beat any and did not think it was neccesary to spend it on others for the sake of it.

Bit of fun here just before the transfer window opens...

You have 100 million to spend which you can add to by selling players. What would you do with the squad? Interesting to hear what Sydney, Shappy and all of the other regulars will do..! Anyone do it! Ed's join in too!

Many of you say that SAF can again make Torres one of the top strikers. Can anyone tell me how he will be able to do so?
Many also say (usually regarding young players) that under SAFs guidance they can turn them into brilliant players. For me there is only one person who is a great coach and can turn raw talent into polished diamonds and that is Wenger. He has an eye for young talents and does not hesitate to give them chance in the first team.
SAF on the other hand is a great tactician and the greatest manager ever. For me a team managed by SAF with Wenger under him will be the greatest anyone can ask for.

This should be a bit of fun. Now we all agree that we could do with 1 or 2 new faces. So with a budget of around 50m which three(Defender/Midfielder/Forward) new players would you sign?

I'd go for something like:

Jan Vertonghen, Kwadwo Asamoah and Andriy Yarmolenko

So who would you sign? (try and be realistic)

Today it all seems Bale this and Bale that, whats brought all this on? Oh i see he played a blinder against that european power house Norwich so surely he must be the answer to all our problems.

Now i think Bale is a good player but personally no better than what we have. When he's on form he tears teams apart but so does Valencia Nani and Young. Is he more consistant than any of our current wingers? No he isn't the only thing he has over them is he's younger and left footed, I honestly don't think we'd be making any fuss over him if he was right footed. Our three wingers cost 46m Bale could cost 40m on his own, is he worth that? On what i've seen hell no. And i don't buy into this he cost more because he's "british", you pay a premium on english players not british. If you don't believe me then see how many non english british players you can name who have cost say 15m or more? And 15m is hardly a huge sum to pay these days. The closest i can get is Robbie Keane for 18m to liverpool but as our irish friends will point out he's not actually british. So there is no reason to pay a premium for him as he's british, so is he worth 40m on talent alone? again the anwsers no.

If we need a left footed winger that badly then i'd surgest Shaqiri, he's almost as quick just as inconsistant younger and has a better footballing brain and a stronger right foot. He'd cost around 15m which means we've saved 25m to spend on the squad elsewhere ie centre midfield.

I just don't see the sense in being ripped off by Spurs again for a player who'd only make us slightly better.

Here's a suggestion, now don't go mad just floating the idea.

But if the scouse sell Caroll for cheap would anyone take him?

He doesn't fit their pass and move, everything through the middle style whereas we have wingers who can actually cross the ball so would be abetter fit for us.

Against that is his attitude, fitness record and the fact that most people don't think he's very good.

I personally doubt it would happen but i'd rather have Carroll for say 15 than that over the hill past it crock Torres for 25.

As an earlier post said, i think we could be going in for Torres and Sneijder. It does sound rediculous, but actually its not. If you look at the squad we have lost alot of experienced players and now Giggs, Ferdinand, Evra, Fletcher will all be moving on, even Berbatov adds experience. Added to that Vidic will not be around much - so these two could well be great for the squad.

With Sneijder and Torres we have two players who are world class, possibly available. They would give a new dimension to the squad - especially with experience as we have World Cup finalists in them. Sneijder could really add some, he seems destined for us, the rumorus never go away! But i think they could come true, i hope they do. It would be affordable.

The Torres deal would also be affordable, if we get 10 at the least for Berbatov, then that could be half the transfer fee sorted. Berbatov's wages would be off the wage bill as well, so that would pay for the majority of Torres'. Also it makes marketing sense, they are two marketable players who would bring in extra revenue to the club which would help to fund their transfers and wages.

They'd fit into the squad well, in a 4-4-2 you could definatly see them lining up. Stick Sneijder alongside Cleverly, Jones or Carrick and we'd have a top midfield. If Sneijder was to come however, then Anderson would have to leave, there would be no room for him and the two would not work well together for me. With Torres we all know he is best at 4-4-2/4-4-1-1, at Liverpool he had Gerrard behind him and here he would have Rooney who is better than Gerrard in my opinion. I think they would work straight away. We then have Hernandez and Welbeck to rotate with, Hernandez is great off the bench as well so he would still be a great asset!

If you could have any current player in the world (other then Ronaldo and Messi) who would it be?! I would have to pick Modric as i genuinely feel he is our missing link and would suit us to no end. Plus it would weaken the ever more impressive spurs.

Lot of talk about bale and if his as good as our wingers has no one noticed that Harry has been playing bale as ACM
bale said in the paper this morning he likes playing in the middle as when he plays out wide his double or treble marked
jred {Ed004's Note - He wouldn't be double or trebled marked in left back...}

I have to laugh at some of you going on about modric.hes one of the most overrated players to date.hes a good player but no great.hes very inconsistent,he's no game winner!and I'm sure if spurs were to sell him clubs would end up paying way over the odds for an average player!de silva, iniesta, zavi, ozil, kaka, sweinsteiger and sneijder to name a few are all a class above modric.these are players you put yu pay big money for.modric wudn't do anymore than what cleverly,Griggs or Anderson would do.
If utd were to have any chance of getting a world class player now it would be sneijder!he would be perfect.well him and a defensive midfielder.

its amazing how people think bale is not good enough for united and then turn around and suggest that we sign rodwell.
IMO, if bale aint good enough for our squad then rodwell aint even good enough for our reserves.
Bale aint good enough but valencia is? Id rather have bale on the left and nani on the right. Young and valencia could become squad players.
Thats 4 decent wingers with different qualities. This will also allow us to release giggs and park once decent midfield reinforcements are brought in.
Berbatov also seems to be finding his form once again. I for one hope he does'nt get sold, especially without bringing in a top quality replacement.
I thought the last time united wanted to extend his contract, he stated that he was willing to see out his contract and he will not agree to be sold. United did not want to take the risk of extending his contract with berbatov then refusing to be sold resulting in united payin him another 5m to sit on the bench.
Personally, i think united will only extend his contract if they intend to keep him. Plus, i only see the extension occuring by mutual consent in june, depending on berbatov's performance, welbeck and chicha's form and availability of funds to purchase another top quality striker.

If anyone fancies a laugh go read the hundreds of boll*cks posts by Pool fans following the blog on BBC Football about how King Kenny isnt quite achieving what he should be

They seem to think Liverpool will finish in the top 4 this season, lol

There are even fans on there saying that if it wasnt for shots against the woodwork (which count as off target btw) and super-human goalkeeping performances against them (by keepers that just happen to be really good) they would be challenging for the title!

like...hello?! is there anybody home?

anyway turns out the fact that Liverpool have scored less PL goals than both Bolton and Blackburn so far has nothing at all to do with the fact that Carrol and Suarez couldnt hit a barn door if they were straddling one, and that Downing and Henderson are as useful as a pair of chocolate teapots....is just down to BAD LUCK

Well too bad for them and their bad luck I say. Just a shame that they're poor run of luck seems to have lasted over 20years and counting ; )
