Flicking between youth and England. Youth boys got some talent in their ranks and be good to see Pieters for holland at LB. Could be an option for us maybe?

Just watching the youth cup tie against Charlton. Daehli is some talent, great feet, great eye for a pass and a keen eye for goal. He is very small though. Blackett is and Hendry have also impressed me.

Supasub havent seen enough of Pele or Maraddona to say they are the greatest wheras Messi is the best I have ever seen.

Pele won 3 world cups with brazil, they had probably at one point in 1970 at least the greatest national side in history. Pele was basically the main man and i think scored over 1000 career goals (do the maths, it's s**t loads). For what it's woth "the boys from brazil" dvd is still one of the best football documenturies I've ever seen, it opened my eye's when I was younger.
Maradona carried an average Napoli team to their most succesfull period across only about 4 years. I think 2 league titles, a uefa cup, couple of copa itallia's and a supercup. He had Careca with him at one point followed by a young Zola, thats pretty much it.
I watched the 1986 world cup and a one man team (one of the worst argentina teams I've seen) won it!, anyone should watch the highlights to dispel the myth that one man does'nt make a team.
Not to mention both Pele & Maradona were hacked severely throughout their careers.
I don't think Messi could survive the night out before the match let alone play like a champion.
Judge Messi at the end of his career but he's played in a well protected barca team who play for him, (my nan could probably fit into that barca side and look good), and he pretty much disappears for a very good Argentina team.
But Pele, Maradona, Best & Cruyff all day long to name a few before Messi.
Just my opinion.

TK the only people I have called immature on here are you and the peope who call us "loserpool". Trust me mate I have nothing to prove and come on here for a laugh and a bit of banter, Im up for taking stick and giving it, the way this forum should be. However if somebody says something stupid to me than I will tell them, like I did you. Most people on this site use smiley faces so dont know what youare refering to there. Tbh I am done with this petty argumant and think we should both move on as its getting tedious now.

TK your reaction was immature and very childish, "go change your tampon" is that the best you have got? How sexist can you get? You know as well as I do that OT is silent other than the away fans. Also us, Newcastle, Swansea, etc all make more noise away than you also if you incude Scotland Celtic and Rangers they do. To the person who said about how did I know Chelsea outsung you, I own a TV and watched the game. Let's put to an end all this Gerrard Scholes talk, its getting silly. Herbie I'd take Messi over them both ; )

To get away from this Scholes/Gerrard debate who is everyone's thinking will get player and young player of the year? I'm going with Van Persie for player of the year and Jones or Sturridge for young player.

Can we please move away from this whole my dad(Scholes) is bigger than your dad(Gerrard) stuff. It's a little sad and childish, both have been great players for their clubs and that is that.

Let's talk about the england team as we have a tasty friendly apon us. I feel with Spain Holland and Germany miles ahead of us i think we should write off this years euro's and think ahead to the next world cup. With that in mind i feel we should usher out the so called golden generation and bring forth the next group of players and get them used to internantional football, like Germany did at the last world cup.
Rio is too injury prone to go and there are a multitude of reasons to leave Terry at home, also neither will be likely to be first choice in Brazil so why take them and hold back the youngsters. Cahill Lescott Smalling and Jones would be my four CB's. With Cole and Baines as the obvious choices for LB and Richards and Walker at RB.
Midfield is a tricky one, i think Parker is the best choice for Captain at the euro's, he is likely yo be fit is first choice and doesn't court contraversey, he is the ideal role model for the young players to look upto. I feel england should play a midfield three with Parker Wilshere and Cleverley, there's plenty of skill and passing ability with vision and bite. The three back up for these players becomes tricky, the other young players aren't ready yet(McEachran, Barkley, Rodwell, Livermore, Tunnicliffe, Morrison?), so i'd take Gerrard Milner and Barry(but all three will be replaced with a selection of the Younger players by the next world cup). Gerrard in fairness would probably start ahead of Cleverley if fit at the euro's but i'd sub Cleverley on for him regulary. I wouldn't take Lampard as he doesn't play well with Gerrard and he won't be about for the next world cup.
I'd play a front three of Adam Johnson Rooney and Young with Welbeck Sturridge and Oxlaide-Chamberlain being there as more long term options.

so we'd line up like this:
____________Hart
Walker__Smalling_Cahill__Cole
___________Parker
______Gerrard____Wilshere
_Johnson___Rooney___Young

with a second team of:
_________Stockdale
Richards_Jones_Lescott_Baines
__________Barry
_____Milner____Cleverley
_OX_____Welbeck__Sturridge

Can we please stop this Gerrard vs Scholes stuff. Both have been great players, if u want to prove which of them is better quotes definetly r not the way to do it.
Why not try Trophies or better see how they have influenced the teams since their return from injury or retirement

Ezikel Lavezzi - that`s what we need in Manchester United. Storm of the player. Attacking MF, goal scorer, assisting, runs all over the pitch... I would bid any money for him cause I am certain he would pay back.

I noticed somewhere that someone doesn't count intercontinental or world club cups as major trophies. Are they for real? The world club cup old intercontinental cup is the most prestigious in world football. The holy grail to all south American clubs after the copa de libradatores. We are probably the only country in the world who don't seem to rate it that highly in general. Probably because it's rarely won.

Every couple of months we get a Scholes/Gerrard debate and it always ends the same way. I don't expect this post to change the opinions of the delusional Liverpool supporters, but anyway..

"Scholes is undoubtedly the best midfielder of his generation." - Zidane

"In the last 15 to 20 years the best central midfielder that I have seen - the most complete - is Scholes." - Xavi

"Fans in Spain rate him very highly and I admire him a huge amount. To me Paul is a role model. He is the best midfielder I've seen in the last 15 or 20 years." - Alonso

"I tell anyone who asks me – Scholes is the best English player." - Blanc

"Every one of us is just trying to become as good as him. Everyone can learn from Paul Scholes" - E. Davids

"He is the one whose level I aspire to. He is the best player in the Premier League." - Fabregas

"I'm star-struck when I see Paul Scholes because you never see him. On the pitch you can't catch him. Off the pitch he disappears." - Figo

"He is the best midfielder of his generation. I would have loved to have played alongside him." - Guardiola

"Scholes is one of the most complete footballers I've ever seen. His one-touch play is phenomenal. Whenever I have played against him, I never felt I could get close to him." - Gudjohnsen

"I can't understand why Scholes has never won the player of the year award. He should have won it long ago. Maybe it's because he doesn't seek the limelight like some of the other 'stars'." - Henry

"Paul Scholes would have been one of my first choices for putting together a great team." - Lippi

"His technique is unique." - Maradonna

"At La Masia, his name was mentioned a lot. He's a teacher." - Messi

"If he was playing with me, I would score so many more" - Pele

"I want to pass like him. Who taught him how to do that?" - Ronaldinho

"Scholes is the best I've played with and he helped me a lot when I was young. He's amazing." - Ronaldo

"I'm not the best, Paul Scholes is." - E. Davids

"The player in the Premiership I admire most? Easy – Scholes." - Vieira

"My toughest opponent? Scholes of Manchester. He is the complete midfielder." - Zidane

I see you boys are trying to say Scholes is better than Gerrard.

Did you not read the recent interview with Fergie? He says the only English players that come close to Gazza are, Wayne Rooney and yes you guessed it.... Steven Gerrard.

Now last time i checked Scholes is English right? Also as you Mancs say Fergie is always right.
