For as good as he's been has Fred ever took a good free kick? Should've been mata or pereira.

Matic brilliant again apart from red. Far better than McTomminay can't believe people calling for him to go.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

29 Jan 2020 23:43:48
I said the same earlier. Fred is poor at free kicks and it should have been Mata or Pereira. Matic was excellent and unlucky to be sent off as both yellows were very soft. Rodri chops down lingard in first half for a definite yellow and the ref gives nothing.

Agree1 Disagree0

29 Jan 2020 23:46:11
Problem is his legs have gone. So he can't play all the games, and he had no recovery pace to cover adventurous fullbacks or track runners back if he is caught out of position.

He looks good have been well rested, but how long till it catches up with him again?

I suspect italy would be a good place for him for twilight of his career.

Agree2 Disagree0

30 Jan 2020 00:15:01
Matic was never of blistering pace anyway so disagree with all this about his legs being gone. People just love to jump on the bandwagon and look for a scapegoat.

Agree1 Disagree0

30 Jan 2020 00:34:27
Fred must take INCREDIBLE free kicks in training.

Agree3 Disagree0

30 Jan 2020 00:53:17
Matic never shirks responsibility, always looks for a forward pass and works hard.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Jan 2020 02:15:06
He is not mobile enough. He cannot be our starting dcm. He gets by with good reading of the play, but when caught out of position he has to either foul or let's more mobile players run.

Not knocking the guy. He has been and can be a very good squad player and senior pro. But he doesn't get in the first team from our current squad. For his own game time (I think he feels he should be starting every week) he should probably move to a slower paced league where he could excel.

I'm not jumping on a bandwagon, I'm giving an opinion.

Agree2 Disagree0

30 Jan 2020 03:24:04
I'm just glad Fernandes will play and it will be the end of lingard and pereira as no 10.

Agree1 Disagree0

30 Jan 2020 07:06:26
Yeah. finally a top class play maker.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Jan 2020 07:35:51
I really think we should play Bruno in a midfield of 3. Of course in some games he can be used in the 10,but we have Pogba (chokes*), Fred and McT plus Matic. Pogba, Fred, Bruno for me is good thing.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Jan 2020 09:28:22
Interesting one that, I’m not sure Matic is better than McTominay at many aspects of the game, maybe his reading of the game is better but I’d definitely have Scott in there ahead of him. Matic has been very good since he has come in but he was very good for Ole’s first two months last year and then his legs went and he struggled. Good squad player I agree and would keep him for another year if he’s ok with that, but he’s behind McTominay and Fred for me.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Jan 2020 09:45:55
Matic is a much better player than both IMO. Fred is a hard worker but he's really not cut out at this level. Scott looks a decent player and hopefully will continue to build on that but Matic is a much better player all round for me.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Jan 2020 11:30:04
Angelred fred has been running our midfield himself for the past few months every week he's getting outnumbered and still covers every blade of grass
He is the most positive aspect of our season so far I just hope when we get our midfielders back he doesn't get dropped he could be our ngolo kante in fact I think he could be better than kante.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Jan 2020 13:35:38
Jeez, I've heard it all now. Fred could be better than Kante!

I know we are all United fans, but take of the old rose tinteds and see the reality. We are not very good at the moment. Accept it and the football with be much less painful.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Jan 2020 22:14:17
Can we? Are we? Will we? . Bring in a striker from somewhere before the window shuts. I don't think we can trust martial to get us the goals we need so surely we have to try.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

29 Jan 2020 22:46:11
What chances did martial have tonight? We create very little chances for a striker that's the problem. How many through balls do we play? They are starved of chances. Fernandes and Pogba will give us hell of a lot more creativity and Mctominay's energy we miss aswell. I don't think we can have any arguments over the two legs though. 3-2 on aggregate flattered us if we are being honest.

Agree3 Disagree0

29 Jan 2020 23:09:46
Still think we need a poacher. Someone who will go in where it hurts to score. We don't have a player like that, it would give us another dimension to our attacking play.

Agree2 Disagree0

29 Jan 2020 23:50:20
We definitely need a striker but without any creativity it's pointless. Any top striker in the world would have been isolated tonight as they need chances created for them.

Agree2 Disagree0

30 Jan 2020 08:07:04
I seen martial make at least 3 good runs behind the defenders tonight the same as he does every game but there's no quality players on the same wavelength to put him through lingard and Pereira at 2 of the worst football players I have ever Just glad we need to put up with them for much longer with Bruno signed.

Agree1 Disagree0

29 Jan 2020 22:13:28
So we have signed a goal scoring assist machine midfielder.
A really good player.
I hope some are not expecting miracles and too much too soon. He will have a lot to cope with early on but long term i'm sure we all have high hopes for him.
Best of luck Bruno.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

30 Jan 2020 07:10:20
The first he will have to cope with is having all of his creativity and guile trained out of him. ͡° ͜ʖ ͡.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Jan 2020 22:04:17
Positive performance tonight, if only we had some quality in the number 10 role we could have really hurt them. Lingard got the ball in great areas and did absolutely nothing.

Hopefully Fernandes brings the quality we need. Another win away to city for ole. I don't think he's necessarily the man for the job as I've made clear, but credit where it's due tonight.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

30 Jan 2020 06:11:20
Good result if it was a league game. Bad result in the context of last nights requirements.
We applied a bit if pressure in 2nd half but couldn't quite get there.
Lingard and martial so ineffective again. Defence and ddg played well and matic.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - martial is a waste of space ken, he has not got a chip on his shoulder, he has got a full portion and a battered fish cake as well mate.. :)

30 Jan 2020 10:16:41
Martial 8 goals and 3 assists in 17 league games

Quite an effective ineffective player.

29 Jan 2020 18:22:05
Well, we've only gone and signed an attacking midfielder for a deal that in reality will cost around £60/ 65 mil on the same day that everton reject £85 mil for richarlison 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Go home Barcelona, you're drunk 🤣🤣.

Bubbling up. Vedat Muriqi, Fenerbahce striker. Scored 12 in last 18, Burnley have been in but didn’t offer enough. We are supposedly ‘putting a late bid in’. 3 days left and how the rumours pile up.

With Bruno Fernandes looking like it is inching over the finish line🤞

There is still a clear need for more fire power up front. Having seen the links to Silmani and Ighalo I was wondering if there are any other options to be had from somewhere.

The issue seems to be that club's don't want to lose good players mid-season and we would prefer a short term deal.

Players like Wissam Ben Yedder could be an option on a permanent deal for big money, but that's not what the club is looking for.

I've racked my brains to try and come up with someone who could be viable. The name I've eventually settled on is Anderson Talisca current playing in China. The Chinese league doesn't kick off until February/ March, so there isn't the issue of him leaving mid season. Whether we would be able to agree a loan with a option to buy I don't know.

He is a player we have been linked with in the past. More of a second striker than an out and out forward but able to play as the main striker. Also comfortable playing from the right hand side. Still youngish as 25.

Might be worth a punt.

Who would you guys like to see the club sign as a forward?

Believable4 Unbelievable0

29 Jan 2020 15:33:35
Jovic for me. Loan with option to buy.

Agree2 Disagree0

29 Jan 2020 15:43:30
On the basis we will not get the future players we want with a few days to go I am only interested In loans. That means we are looking at lower end players who can do a soa e and may have upside without blocking Greenwood. In that case Slimani makes sense to me without a long term commitment because who knows what that is for us.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Jan 2020 16:11:35
Giroud, available on loan, adds presence in the box, and excellent at hold up play.

Agree3 Disagree0

29 Jan 2020 16:35:13
I agree, Danny. Gives us a Plan B as well.

Agree1 Disagree0

29 Jan 2020 16:36:47
Danny, I did think about Giroud. Excellent player and massively underrated by many. With players like Rashford and Greenwood cutting in from the flanks and with Bruno Fernandes joining from midfield a player with the hold up and link up play of Giroud would be fantastic.

However, with us currently Chelsea's closest challengers for top 4 would they really sell to us? Imagine they did and then he played a key role in us beating them to 4th. I just can't see them selling him to us unfortunately. But if they would he would be my first choice.

Agree4 Disagree0

29 Jan 2020 16:55:53
I guess it’s a question of if Chelsea decide that it’s more important to get him off their wage book. He isn’t in Lampard’s plans and there’s talk of Spurs making a loan bid. If there’s a chance they’d loan to Spurs, we should make an offer.

Really underrated player, and key to France’s WC win.

Agree1 Disagree0

29 Jan 2020 18:32:34
Would love Werner.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Jan 2020 19:13:09
Yes, Giroud! Was harping in about him a while ago. I think he would be perfect for us. If we wait till the end of the season Aubameyang would be spectacular.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Jan 2020 19:32:00
If we wanted a physical presence as a forward with PL experience Giroud is a good shout.

Werner would just be an excellent signing who'd walk into our team at the moment.

As an outside shout, how about Diego Costa? Couldn't stand him at Chelsea but he'd maybe give us a bit of attitude in our team? Probably a mistake right enough and of course it's not going to happen but Atletico have plenty of forward options and are after Cavani.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Jan 2020 19:38:00
Right now, giroud wouldn't be a bad short term option.

If either martial or greenwood get injured, we are in deep trouble.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Jan 2020 19:52:28
Chelsea won’t loan or sell to a rival this window. Neither Utd or spurs will sign Giroud.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Jan 2020 15:12:18
I know Ed tells us not to worry about the finance side of things but the reported fee of around £45m plus 15m in bonuses and wages of around £70k plus bonuses sounds like good business. Good business but far too late when you consider the state of our current squad.
It does make me think why other clubs were not pushing as hard us to sign him though.
It also makes you think what the negotiators were playing at when they decided to pay £80m for Maguire but have ironed out what looks to be a very decent deal on Bruno Fernandes.
I think he will be a bit and I’m excited to see him line up in our team.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

29 Jan 2020 15:52:06
Every negotiation is different. Sporting have more of a need to sell than Leicester did. Plus there's the "English" tax to be paid on English players.

But financially if the details are correct then it looks like a good deal. Sensible compromise, lower initial fee, then the add ons split into two groups, one being easily achievable, the other a little less so.

Agree3 Disagree0

30 Jan 2020 00:33:10
Think bruno was seen as a risk by the other big teams his one big weakness is that he gives away the ball a lot by trying high risk passes. along with the high press the last couple of years the biggest innovation in football has been the speed of transition from defence to attack losing the ball in attacking areas, leaves you really vulnerable against other top teams. it would be the only reason I can see why other top teams didn't really consider him.

That would be my opinion but seems to have just about everything else and looks a fine player.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Jan 2020 13:29:49
Shows what a portly run club we are. OGS saying Alexis will come back and prove everyone wrong - why let him go then when the squad is so light on any quality.

Secondly, OGS says Rojo going nowhere - 24hrs later he's off to Estudiantes.

Or, does this just show what we all know. Press conferences by managers are a total waste of time and nonsensical.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

29 Jan 2020 13:44:08
A lot of things can change within 24hrs.

Everthing Ole says are not meant to happen.

Sanchez may or not return. Better we wait and see what happens, still long way to go betwen now and the summer.

Ole future also is not decided, so nothing to worry about what he keeps saying.

Agree1 Disagree0

29 Jan 2020 14:19:10
We’ve been a portly run club since Shaw signed.

Agree5 Disagree0

29 Jan 2020 14:42:39
There are things a manager can and can't talk about openly in a press conference.

Until deals are finalised, either coming or going then its not a good idea for the manager to say something until its official.

Imagine if he said Rojo was leaving then the deal collapsed, how would all involved feel/ look?

Sanchez was moved out of the club on loan because they couldn't sell him. If Ole then comes out and says a player still contracted to the club has no future at the club then how does that effect the player and the clubs ability to find a buyer?

Press conferences are to say this guy is fit, this guy isn't. This player has done well, something about the up coming game, but nothing tactical.
It's an exercise in creating a sound bite to sell the up coming game and create a narrative, but to do so in a way that doesn't have any chance of threatening the stability of the club.

Don't listen to anything a manager says during a press conference, or at least don't put any store in to what they say.

Only the stupid managers, or the managers trying to get sacked say anything controversial or enlightening.

Agree6 Disagree0

29 Jan 2020 15:00:44
Imagine Fergie saying it and you’re already thinking 🤔 yep keeping the value up on Alexis.

Ole comes across like a clown but it’s obvious he’s not going to say ‘yes we can’t wait for Alexis to be back in full payroll and in the physio office. He WhatsApped me that can’t wait to get the dogs out of kennels and take up Rivington’.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Jan 2020 15:18:59
Bang on Shappy. As far as I can make out, these press conferences and after match interviews are part of the EPL marketing program, and are compulsory. Most of the time managers would probably prefer not to give them, and sometimes, when they are under real pressure, after an abject performance for example, it must be an ordeal from hell.

I have watched just enough to know (maybe 3) that they get asked a lot of very boring, repetitive and often completely inane questions, and that answers to all sensitive topics have to be skirted around. Total waste of time if you ask me.

Agree3 Disagree0

29 Jan 2020 15:58:47
It's like when people call Ole a Glazer puppet or a yes man for what he says in the press.

Was Sir Alex a weak minded little yes man? Absolutely not, yet he did say things in the press such as "no value" in the transfer market. Fact is managers will say what they need to say to maintain a level of stability and happiness within their squad of players.

Good managers don't rock the boat, at least not publicly.

Imagine how the pilot of that plane feels now he is apparently on his way to collect Bruno. again. according to the Daily Mail, Daily Star.
" Martin to despatch. are you sure Maureen I've been hanging on since august . he's a time waster"

Despatch to Martin "just do it Martin, give him 15 minutes and call in if he's a no show, got another pick up for you in Heathrow".

Just saw the news that Ed Woodward's house in Cheshire was attacked by a bunch of lunatics and criminals, who are so called "fans" of Man Utd. I hope they are caught and punished severely by the law enforcers there.

I feel disgusted and ashamed to say that I share the same community, as a Man It's supporter as them. In all these years since SAF's retirement we have seen many lows and few highs but this has been the lowest point by quite a huge margin.

Ashamed and speechless. Bunch of entitled uneducated idiots our fanbase is becoming and it's making it harder for us to get better at fight for the status of the top dogs in European football.
