I know it doesn't concern united anymore but Barcelona set to announce Fabergas and Sanchez as early as friday according to goal.com {Ed007's Note - If it doesn't concern United why post it here? The page navigation is easily marked so if you are finding it difficult please let us know as we do try to make simple, thanks}

Finally, ..3 new players at Old Trafford. .

Do u think(editors and people who have source inside OT), we have still unfinished transfers business in term of arrivals.??
Coz, once the signings are done i expect couple of players leaving United.
Some of them mentioned in many rumours are Brown, Tomasz kuszczak, Gibson, Obertan, Berbatov, O shea (i dont think he will be sold), Nani (Again highly unlikely may be next season).

Sneijder wants to come to us we all know this, and the statement about staying at Inter was, interestingly, changed when Scholes decided to call it a day and retire from playing. Sneijders new wife is keen to stay in Italy to further a career in tv so we have to wait. We would be much better balanced with Sneijder in that controlling midfield role and like King Eric would be the difference to our up and coming young lads who are expected to deliver. I get the feeling we have signed our 3 players and if we get premier league no.20 great. But we have the money and we need a new number 18 now. Fergie and the club know who we need but we can't have anyone we want. Rpez

I think many supporters are deluded, and particularly rude about present servants to the club. O'shea stepped in to midfield and covered at fullback on numerous occasions, winning us the league. Brown has played excellently at fullback doing the same and gaining recognition as an international. Evans has been unlucky in that he has two or three very competent challengers to his position( plus he lost his confidence, earlier in the season) Gibson played brilliantly with Anderson in the semis of the CL.
Fabio, Ferdi, Nani, sAndi, Fletch, and Berba have all excelled this season, maybe not to the degree that we aspire to in utopia, but ticking over nicely.
A year ago similar names were bandied about and the mentality hasn't changed.

Pick a team and support it.

Play your fantasy games and good luck, but don't dog a player because he isn't fashionable.

I was watching the utd 2008 season dvd tday and after 1st few 1.0 games when rooney n ronny were fit or not suspended we played beautiful atackin football. Our front 3 were special tev roony n rony n saha as sub. Midfeild from giggs carrik fleth ando scholes n harg all linkd defence n atak realy well. Only scholes n harg gone so pogba n ravel t step up + young makes me think only 1 forward thinkin mid is needed I wud prefer modric but thnk chelski got him? So wesley is most obvious? Upfront chico n rooney + nani n valencia ont wings I think nasri wud add the flair link between atak n midfeild. Sanchez wud b perfect but he seems realy hard t get? United99

Just got onto the site today and after reading through 1 1/2 hours of posts I have a few comments to make.

Of the 3 signings which would I prefer? Defo Vidal. I have been posting his name since Jan and he can certainly do a Hargo like job for us. Perect player for our game and can work in either 2 or 3 man midfield. Plus his fee would be around 12-14m as he only has 1 year left on his contract but has recently stated he would "like" the move to Bayern but Leverkusen seem determined not to sell to their rivals so will put us in the automatic driving seat.

On De Gea signing. Who cares who said what and for which date or whatever? The point is he HAS signed. Do I care to who the agents fee's go? Should you all care to who they go? No We should congratulate whichever agent(s) managed to bring this deal to fruitition and be happy we have an oustanding young GK for 5 years (or untill barca come calling).

On Young signing. I was never happy about being linked with Young in the first place and was more than happy letting Liverpool pay 17m for a guy in the last year of his contrct. Alas it is us who have taken him on and although I can see the better crossing, corners and freekicks than Nani its not really an improvement as such. I would of rather that money paid for 3/4 of the Hazard or Menez fee's and given us a younger winger with more room for improvement. And although he was probably bought to replace the hopefully outgoing Obertan I would of been more than happy to have given that role to Cleverley who can also do the more central role aswell.

On Jones role. Im certain we will get a defensive midfielder so I dont think Jones will be used in this way. Its possible he may fill in there now and then but not more than CB in my opinion. The Carling cup games will surely see Jones Smalling partnership and with Rio out for half of the season last year and allowing Smalling the game time Im sure that can be shared along with Smalling covering RB when needed. Also Vidic can now be afforded a rest every so often with the prospect of these two providing alot more assured cover than Evans provided last year. Its a pity for Jonny as the year before he played well but possibly a 6 month loan could get his confidence back or it looks as though he will be playing second fiddle behind both Jones and Smalling.

how would people feel if we had a squad like this next season?
GK- De Gea, Lindegaard, Amos
DF- Rafael, Ferdinand, Vidic, Evra, Fabio, Smalling, Jones, Evans, Gill, Wooton, Vermjil
MF-Valencia, Carrick, Vidal, Young, Park, Cleverley, Anderson, Fletcher, Giggs, Petrucci, Tunnicliffe, Morrison, Pogba
FW- Rooney, Hernandez, Hulk, Welbeck, Owen

Meaning In's: Jones, Young, De Gea, Vidal and Hulk. giving a spend of around 100m
leaving would be: Kusczcak, Brown, O'Shea, Gibson, Obertan, Nani, Berbatov, Macheda and Doiuf
which would bring in between 60-70m giving a net spend of 30-40m

Thoughts people?

'take the blinkers off mate'

So do you begrudge SAF for spending ?Ç£12m on Ronaldo then? Jones & De Gea will be world class talents, or would you prefer to wait 2 years and pay triple for them? Far too many fickle fans on this site.

Sydney!

No I don't' mind taking a punt on young potential, but jones aint going to move rio or vidic and young is just terrible if these signings excite you then you must be used to watching stoke.

Sneijder (upto ?Ç£30m), Nasri (?Ç£20m ish) or Vidal (?Ç£10m) one of which will be our last transfer for this window...personally I see Vidal as the one to go for - he's deep lying skillful CM (who also gets forward to assist and score...look up his stats for last season) which fits the hole on the pitch that was visible most games last season. Plus Munich have had an ?Ç£8.5m bid turned down but Leverkusen will probs let him go for ?Ç£10m ish and would prefer if he left Germany (also ties in with Fergies interest last year in Chile). BARGAIN at the young age of 24 with his prime ahead of him

What do you all think??

Regarding Nani going posts....

Isnt Nani nest suited to the right?
isnt Young suited to the Left.... or centre behind front 2.
how is young his replacement.
We have young and park for the left.
and nani and valencia for the right.
Depending on the game. we can setup with a defensive left or right side. or both respectively.
I honestly think there is very little fooball brain on here.

No one else will sign for United this transfer window. Fergie said 3 signings. Jones was first then Young and now De Gea. Unless we get an offer of a player + cash deal for one of our players there will be no more signings this summer.

The papers are all a load of bull. They blow everything out of proportion so that idiots like us will buy the paper to read about the story that is completely bull.

Sorry who are all these people assuming carsick is playin defence mid he's not he's playn cm he's just not a very good attackin player he's way too slow that's shown any time he does go forward so stop defending him we should not be content with having carsick and Anderson as our cm this Manchester united not fukn ragball rovers, their simply not good enough end of. We had scholes and keane playn der now weve these it's not good enuf and it show a serious lack of understanding of football and united if u think der good enuf
Smythy

{Ed019's Note - I'm not sure about this carsick chap but Carrick is a perfectly good defensive player Smythy and the fact you can't see that shows you have a serious lack of understanding of football. Also de fact dat u tlk like dis makes me wonder if your even old enough to have seen Scholes and Keane in a midfield together at their peak.}

Probably a stupid question but please go easy on me ;o)
I thought the European transfer window only opened on the 1st July, if thats the case how can De Gea sign for us? Also what happened about him not signing until he changed his agent on the 1st July? {Ed007's Note - Deals can be arranged and signed effective from 1st July, it is just really an administration issue at this time when all 3 parties agree to the deal}

Hulk
rooney could drop into attacking midfield like he has done, and then young/nani/valencia/park start creating goals for hulk and chicharito

I am surprised with fans being disappointed with our summer spending. I am personally quite excited about it. Lets tackle them one at a time....A Young, I have always been a big admirer. People that know me will remember when I said that we should have bought him along with Valencia when we sold CR7. He had bags of potential and by now would have been a great player for us. A shame it has taken so long and I don t believe he can hit the heights he could have as he has missed out on some crucial development. However, he has been a consistent performer in the prem 4 years and he will bring some natural width on the left. He is good with a dead ball and has a very good end product (especially crossing) and will still improve with us.

Jones. Can play both at the back and in midfield. Lots of potential ability and has held his own against superior opposition despite playing for a struggling Blackburn side. If he can play as much as Smalling did in his first season that would be impressive. Future England player for sure.

De Gea, the future best keeper in the world (potentially anyway). If you watch Spanish football there is no need for me to go on. I am so excited by this transfer.

As many people have said we could do with a creative midfielder but I won t cry if we don t get one. We have Ando and Carrick. I like many of you have been on Carricks back for a while now. But I always understood that he is not a good defensive midfielder and is played out of position. He is much better linking up play further forward.

The reason I am so happy with our transfers is that we suffered for many months of last season without a winger after Toni missed a majority of the season (lets not forget Park missed some crucial games too). I believe Nani will stay (at least for another year) so we are covered in the wing department. Then with Hargreaves missing the best part of the last 3 seasons, and Fletch being out for crucial games. Jones comes in to add another body into the mix.

Anyone disappointed with our signing because you wanted bigger players to compete with Barca is delusional. You can t compete with Barca like this. What Barca have now is the fruits of many years of hardwork and effort.

We could go out and try to buy the best players to STOP Barca but even then you need a lot of luck. You really want to compete with Barca, build through youth ranks (& buy very young), focus on technique, rather than pace and power ..and wait a decade at least.

For anyone that will shoot me down, I m not saying that Barca can t be beaten, they can, anyone can (i.e. Inter). Football is unpredictable. What I would love to see is us having the balls to take them on and trying to out play them. It would be crazy right now but if we do the right things (which I believe we have been for the last few years) one day we could be talking about how Manchester United battered Barca (even if we lost the match).

Before the Start of the transfer Window.... David gill said that Fergie will gave 80 to 100 mill pounds Transfer war chest..... 50 mil pounds have been spent and accordin to my sources Nasri will sign by Monday for a fee of 20 to 25 mil pound.....

And with the sales of BerbaFLOP and likes of gibson, o'shea, brown rasin some 20 mil poun ds of funds more...
This will result in to a huge Push in signin of Alexis Sanchez for reported 35 mil pounds and 5 mil pounds add ons... And if this fails Man U will push upto 25 mil pounds onto Alcantara.... Great times ahead...

So far so good on the signings front. Obviously, every Manchester United fan is expecting something to be done with the central midfield role. I just struggle to see the connection with many well established players. the media will make loose connections to sell a paper, but Ferguson appears to have his central midfield in a good condition, despite the lack of a 'world class' player. At the end opf the day, you would be talking about bhringing in a high transer value player who would have to out Carrick (who ferguson clearly showed great faith in last season), Fletcher (who was incredible before his mysterious illness), Giggs (who has shown he can operate marvellously in the centre of midfield) Park (who can practically play anywhere in midfield and is arguably the most undervalued player to grace the OT pitch), Cleverley (again, someone ferguson clearly has great belief in and more than deserves a chance to prove he can cut it at OT), Hargreaves (lets face it, none of us truly no what to expect out of this player next season, but if he can get his fitness back, other teams better start to fear a more dominating midfield at united), Anderson (who came back and showed that his potential is no longer simply potential. he is able to dominate midfields, disposes the most talented players and can cut open a defense with the highest visionary ability) - If you are talking Modric, Sneijder, Nasri and others in the same vein, I think more than 20 million on a midfielder now would be a rash decision) - Fergie doesn;t do rash decisions

now that we've got young jones and de gea all confirmed. If we could only sign one more player who would you want it to be? My choice would be Arturo Vidal, as he's a beast of a midfielder who as well as covering every blade of grass in a match he shields the back four with his fantastic movement and tackling and he scored 13 goals and 12 assists last year. So he's a defensive midfielder who'll contribute 20 odd goals a season. So which one player would you want to sign?

According to the metro Macheda wants to stay at united after his loan move to genoa finished

Now I'm certain he was at sampdoria last season?

Nice research metro

Sampdoria are based in Genoa.

Modric and united have met at least 5 times over the past 18 months. That doesn't happen if he just wants to stay in London.

I think there is still going to be a couple of players signed before deadline maybe even 3 once certain other clubs have done their shopping.

To people saying we may be finished in the transfers, think of it this way. Scholes, Neville, Hargreaves, VDS, and possibly Giggs are all leaving/retiring and with them take a massive wealth of experience in the league and Champions League. I dont doubt that Jones, De Gea and Young are quality players but they are all very young and inexperienced. So I think we need to bring in 1, maybe 2 more to even it out a bit in terms of experience. This is maybe why we never went for Sanchez as he is still young and raw, so im thinking maybe Nasri, Sneijder, and possibly even Essien are best options as apposed to Thiago, Mata, etc etc

*************MUFC NEWS *************

Just a few point to remember about this summers activity.

1) Sir Alex did NOT specifically say he was only signing 2-3 players. He said he was confident on signing 2-3....... Indicating more could come in.

2) United have signed 3 players already. YOUNG, JONES DE GEA.

Young, i see as a replacement to Giggs (eventually) and competition for Nani.

De Gea, Obvious signing. We need a new Keeper.

Jones, Know i believe it wasn't Uniteds intention to sign Jones this year. The only reason was because Liverpool and Arsenal were sniffing around and we need to move fast to get him.

3) United WILL sing another player. We still haven't strengthened the one area we know and United know needs strengthening. THE MIDFIELD.

Remember, not only have we lost Paul Scholes with retirement, but also Owen Hargreaves.

One of MODRIC, SNEIJDER or NASRI will be the main signing and THIAGO could also be signed along with him IF Barca get Fabregas.

In 2007/08 United spent 80 million on Hargreaves, Nani, Anderson and Tevez.

2011/12

De Gea - 18 million
Jones- 16 million
Young - 18 million
Nasri?- 20 million
Thiago- 16 million

Total= 88 million.

It is not fully fruitful to replace 'THE SCHOLES' alone. It is important to replace hargreaves too.in my opinion whoever SAF bring in as scholes replacement, pairing him with carrick or fletch is not great but good.i remind once again that our mission is to beat the best team ever, not to mix with the likes of pool or city or chelsea.i think premier league title is just a ticket for us to go and beat barca not to celebrate it. Manchester United's summer spending is now in excess of £50m. Get used to it, because when the financial fair play regulations are fully introduced United will be the only English team able to indulge in this way, with predictable results.

Today's Mirror states that Arsenal fear they could lose both Cesc to Barca for £34m and Nasri to UTD for £20m this week. Surely this means that Arsenal are not willing to meet Nasri's wage demands which isn't a problem to UTD. UTD apparently want a deal done before pre-seson next week. If SAF is really trying to build the team of the future, I would hope he would make the dual transfer of Thiago Alcantara (sp?) and Javi Martinez. Watching the u-21s, it is clear that not only are they the future of the spanish natl team, but they compliment each other so perfectly with Thiago more attacking and Martinez more defensive, although both are complete and well-rounded players. Personally, Id love to see us buy these two now, and perhaps one more attacking wide player to fill in either Berba/Owen's roster spot and replace JS Park in a years time.....DO people think that Thiago and Javi would be a good selection for United moving forward? Ed? Thanks, KG
