It seems United are selling Nick Ajose, and not loaning him out as previously expected. So if we are willing to sell a 19 year old (2 yrs before 21) it seems we are having a good clear out this year for the next crop. It seems we are going to have more players moving through our academy more quickly. They will be judged at 19, rather than 20-21 and if not good enough they will be sold on and we will target top quality 15 year old's from around the world.

I think SAF has realised with these new rulings coming in that the future is youth production. We will see a massive change in the youth set-up from now on I am sure, we also have FC Twente to hold our south American talent. I think SAF has realised this year looking at our U18's, that they were better than the reserve players that were at the club at the ages of 19, 20 & 21. SAF is clearly making room for the U18's and clearing out the deadwood.

It seems United & Liverpool have stole the march on all of the other academies. Arsenal are getting left behind. I expect ALL of our reserve players will be the U18's from last season, it will not consist of Diouf, Obertan, Bebe etc, it will consist of our 17 & 18 year old's. Our academy will be 15, 16 & 17 year old's. I think we will still use the reserves for our first team if returning from injury, but I think we will have a very youthful reserve team & academy team next season.

Bloody typical we are linked with a lot of top class players but end up getting none of them. We will do well domestically but do nothing in Europe Cash strapped and not capable of competing for players

United have today signed 17 year old Gollini from Fiorentina which has infuriated their president, I know this isn't new news and it has already been posted today, but I just wanted to say that I am a bit gutted about this signing because we now have zero chance of ever signing Jovetic now we have pssed off their president 'again'.

Apparently he is meant to be a top quality prospect, I guess you cannot be surprised after the grilling the president has given us.

30 Jun 2011 21:58:42
knowing fergie, there will be no marquee signings..but we will most probably buy a midfielder in the region of 15M-20M..im just hoping we can steal Nasri..

Gonne {Ed007's Note - Could someone tell me what a "marquee" signing actually is? I get it a lot on the Celtic page as well. Was the Wee Pea a marquee signing, or Vidic, Ronaldo etc. I ask CFC supporters if Kayal, Izaguirre or Hooper were classed as marquee signings when they signed? It seems a buzz phrase that has entered the football language now but in my opinion is a lot of nonsense, good scouting systems means that "marquee" signings do not always mean good signings:

People stop with the constant guess work and false information of who man utd are interested in and going to sign. For a while it was modric then we mention nasri then snjeider then sanchez then thiago and after each one that we dont appear to be signing people start throwing around stupid names. If its real post it but pls stop with with the bullsh*t , it seems SAF is desperate and chasing after every player and any half decent player in the world accoriding to alot of people on here. Ed, what do you make of the current Nasri situation? Have your views changed on whether he will stay?

Sydney! {Ed007's Note - I think Nasri will leave Arsenal Syd, if he wants to win trophies he should come to Utd, if he wants the big money and a slimmer chance of a trophy haul then he will go to City I would think. I don't think it is a ploy to get Arsenal to come up with more money, as I imagine they made him a very healthy offer to stay, especially with the Cesc rumours again this summer}

Nasri

Wenger said he would not sell him to United. Actually he is not thinking straight.
At the moment Wenger is almost claiming he cant sell to a direct competitor, United.
He better look at the league position he is in, City are above them and if he sells to City Arsenal may not be able to get above them.
City is Arsenals competitor and if he blocks United to sell to City we could say he has lost the plot

After that it is Nasri's choice

we need to sign a midfielder but the question is who?
I feel Sneijder wouldn't work because he'll never be able to live upto the fans expectations. People seem to think that if he signed then we'd be able to beat barca but this simply isn't the case, i have no doubts that once he's settled then he'd be a good player just like Berbatov and Veron but just like them because of how much he'd cost he'd be labled a flop.
Put it this way if we signed berbatov and veron for between 12-15m each would they still be labled flops? both were/are good players for us and do a good job in the team but were deemed not good enough for how much we paid for them.

Also what kind of midfielder do we need? well everyone keeps saying we need a "scholes" replacement, now Scholes' most important quality is his ball retention and his distribution. So to say we need an attacking midfielder is possibly incorrect as we have Anderson who's just signed a 5 year deal, Cleverley who Sir Alex rates very highly and who he wants to give chances to next season and Giggs, as well as Rooney who although not an "AM" likes to drop back into the space an "AM" would normally operate.
So i don't feel we need an "AM" also the game has moved on to a point where you rarely need a Defensive Midfielder so to spend alot of money on someone like that would be abit of a waste in my opinion as we have Fletcher and now Jones who can do that role on the few occasions that it's needed.
So what we need is a midfielder who has good vision and movement and who's ball retention and distribution are their best attributes. The list of players i feel would be best for this is as follows(in order of suitability):

Arturo Vidal- his movement and tenacity as well as his passing are what sets this lad out as my top target. cost? between 10-16m

Steven Defour- a great player with the ball at his feet who always plays with his head up, only down side could be his possible injury concerns. cost? between 8-12m

Ever Banega- this lad possibly has the best passing of the bunch but the defensive side of his game needs more work also his ability to adapt to the premier league could be questioned. cost? between 15-18m

Moussa Sissoko-Great going forward and tracking back but needs to play with his head up more and improve his ball retention as he gives the ball away too often. cost? between 16-22m

now i've left off Javi Martinez as i feel he is unobtainable due to his potential cost(in excess of 35m) and the way his club would start a bidding war would leave us in the same position as with Sanchez.

other possble targets could be Nasri who i really rate and wouldn't mind seeing at the club, but i feel he'd be playing in the space Rooney wants to play in and he'd stop Anderson and Cleverley being given chances. Or Witsel who is a great player who again i'd love to see at the club, but feel that we don't have a great enough need for a player of his qualities.

As always i'd love to here what any of you think.

Personally, I believe if Nasri really is ambitious he will come to United. Why? Because City will never challenge for the Premier League trophy whilst they continue to play 3 defensive midfielders every game, even at home. It may well have worked against teams in the FA Cup, but a 0-0 draw only counts for one more point than a defeat in the league...

I think nasri is gonna join city and get the money that'll keep him happy, and we are going to sign sneijder because i heard that the new coach at inter is willing to sell him. I think he'll be a great signing WAY better than nasri or modric.

People on here need to stop stressing about Nasri going to city so what i'd be quite happy to see them spend another £150 million plus and win the carling cup again they are years behind us.FACT

Sneijder is united's priority with his experience having already played in 3 different countries at the highest level. Sneijder is the one we want its all speculation about his salary yes he will want a decent wage but now a days these top players do your not gonna get world class players now on £50 grand a week.

Sneijder will sign for around £30 million euro and will fetch a salary around £150 grand a week. watch this space1

I really do hope Nasri signs for us, But at the end of the day City are a club that will win the league in the next few years, they're prepared to offer him stupid wages, so why wouldn't you go there?

Yes, If he signs for us he'll have a greater chance of winning trophies but if he goes to City he'd also have a pretty good chance of winning trophies.

I personally think He'll sign for us over City, But let him to what's best for himself and his career, in terms of financial security City is the move, in terms of winning silverware, well it's not the worst choice he could of made.

Everyone criticizes players who sign for money, But it's a job No matter who you work for, What you do, or how long you've been doing it, if you get two job offers one with £100,000 per year and the other with £40,000 per year, but the one offering less money is a more successful company which one are you really going to go for?

Of course City are looking at Nasri he's apparantly one of our targets. Being a scout for City must be the easiest job in football just look at the papers and Internet and see who we are linked to then report back. Still though if Nasri does move and has told the truth that he is looking to win trophies then he should pick us. If he is just looking for a bigger paycheck which wouldn't surprise me then he is most likely City bound.

As much as i would love to see nasri in a united shirt next season, if all he wants is cash, then we can do better. We want players who want to play for the club, not mercenaries. Sooner or later City are going to realise they can't buy the premiership and champions league, they are buying themselves into trouble with new rulings and poor egos in the dressing room.

Expect to see another center midfielder at OT, maybe still Nasri if he has the sense, if not, we will have a plan B which will be just as good

I'm really sceptical about STEVEN DEFOUR joining us.
In 124 league appearances he has scored only 13 goals and i would prefer a goal scoring mid who would give us 10-12 goals per season, we already have ANDERSON who doesnt score and we dont need to add to that list..

GERRARD, LAMPARD are goalscoring mids(though they take penalties)...............so i think NASRI would be perfect for us.

Just my opinion

In reply to;

David Gill was in Barcelona recently, but not as it was reported to meet Sanchez's representatives, he had a meeting with Xavier Hernandez, as Barcelona are in the process of replacing him with Cesc Fabregas. SAF sees him as the perfect central midfielder to compliment the more industrious players he would be paired, with regardless of his age (31). Remember SAF has bought players in their 30's who have continued to have a great career at United eg. Sheringham & Van Der Sar. There is no value in the market for young creative midfielders at present but SAF knows that there are none better than the older Xavi.

@ You know what you could just be right there, we were interested last summer when Fabregas was rumoured to be going to Barca. I haven't heard anything about Xavi to United recently but it could just happen if Arsenal sell Fabregas. I was told we were going after Modric in a big way, but have since heard nothing (in about two weeks now) so im guessing we've moved onto other targets.

I said earlier that SAF was keen on signing Nasri for £20 but ALL OF A SUDDEN City are interested. It just happens that we are keen to getting Sneijder and Sanchez they come along thinking all the money of the world will get you high class players. This isn't rumor, it's fact that nobody wants to join your club because you don't have trophies and an ego through the roof that has nothing to show for. You aren't a club in fact I don't claim you part of Manchester more like part of Abu Dhabi. I say we should sign Nasri because of nonsense of a club like City. I have more respect for other rival clubs any day piece of s**t City.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

30 Jun 2011 13:56:32
Ok if most of the people on here agree that Jones was only bought this season as others had increased their interest so we moved then how do some of you automatically think we are now using him in CDM position in the starting line up?

He may well do a Chicho and burst on the scene with cracking performances and stay there because of that but I for one definitely dont think he will start the season as a first 11 regular. Unless a few injuries and we sign nobody for that position then we may well have to put him there but certainly wont start ahead of Fletcher and Carrick.

Im sure Fergie with the fixtures we got by the Chelsea game would like to be fully up and going so we get a home 3 points against them and playing well. Im not saying Jones wont help us to play well but just cant see him starting as our 1st choice in CM.

Bit of a scenario here for you guys. What if Nasri insists on a move to MU (like Sanchez has to Barcelona) and won't go anywhere else. If he stays with us becoz we won't sell he can sign for MU in January on a pre-contact deal and go next summer for £0. Its completely upto the player Not Arsene {Ed007's Note - I spoke of that scenario a few weeks ago when I heard that AW had said if Nasri and Clichy hadn't signed new contracts by the start of pre season training they would be sold}

Come on people, let's all calm down. We are going to sign Nasri and Sneijder, no wait, Modric and Mata, no wait, Thiago and Sanchez....or Hazard....or....

Every year, we are linked with circa 20 players, most of whom we never had any interest in.

Jones was made public and happened quickly. Young and De Gea were clearly signposted. I guess there will be a midfielder arriving, no idea who, but not worth lying awake worrying about it.

Some of the rumours people post are ridiculous. My mate's dog knows a man who once saw David Gill and he says....you get the picture. I think some people have way too much time on their hands.

came across this site to see rumours, etc, got to let you that we have indeed carried out medical procedures on Young, Thomas and De Gea (nice guy) To advise we have no further medicals booked from United (need 2 weeks notice) and there are no bookings pending. So looks like no more signings this summer - sorry. {Ed012's Note - You don't need two weeks notice if you are prepared to pay enough, it's how the world works regrettably However, if you are correct, are you suggesting clubs book medicals on transfer deadline day just in case they need one?}

Where do I start with this one.

1. You couldn't even get the names of the players we have signed correct, Thomas ? WTF is Thomas, I think you mean Jones

2. "medical procedures" as you call it is a very simple task that could be carried out by a GP if you so wished, indeed the club doctors could carry it out if they wanted to, its just easier doing it at a venue where blood tests and urine tests can be conducted, it also keeps the media away as they are all at carrington.

3. United would get an appointment at the drop of a hat, to say you need a flat-out two weeks booking is one of the stupidest things I have read on here.

I smell a jealous liverpool fan..... yet again.

How about this next year-
........................de Gea.....................
Fabio...........vidic.........Ferdinand.......evra
Young........nasri.........fletcher..........Valencia
.......Rooney....................Chicharito.........

Honestly can't see it changing to much(442 all de way)
Fabio can change with rafael same with evra

Ferdinand can and will not last season so expect Evans to be given more game.also expect fergie to imPlement jones smalling partnership.

Young Valencia nani will all be given many chances with them being used at different stages os season. Park should be used against arsenal, Chelsea and in champions league.

Nasri may not happen bt expect someone similar.
Fletcher should definitely play. By far best mid we have. Proved are best player along with rooney in 2010 and was a big lOSS in 2011.(it proved v barca)
Expect giggs, Anderson, jones, carrick, cleverly to be given game. Maybe last chance for carrick. Anderson should be coming of age and begin to prove his 20 million price tag

Up front u can't go wrong. Chicharito has high expectations after last season. Let's hope he can match and better himself. Expect Rooney to play the link man between midfield and chicha bt also should score 20 odd goals. He should have better service and writing is on the wall for best ever season. Due to their class it should be berbatovs last season(dats if he doesn't leave now). I hope he can go out with a bang.
Welbeck should get lots of game time and will develop even further. Owens last season will show and provide us with goals and service when called upon, and lastly I truly hope SAF gives Diouf a gud season. He is a decent player and has not showed us what he is capable of yet.
MAcheda us a big no for me. Bad attitude and one gud goal dats it

to be perfectly honest, i think we signed our 'scholes replacement' years ago. and no it was not wayne rooney but Anderson

okay before everyone starts jumpong on my back think about how good he was before he joined us. then, in his first season he wasnt given to many chances, but since then has been going from strength to strength. the biggest problem was that he suffered a massive setback with his injury this season.

so therefore i really dont see SAF going and splashing out upwards of 30 or 40 million pounds on a player, especially ones that are unproven in the premiership. instead, we are going to see our reserves and youth team players eg, morrison and pogba.

were going back to the 'you cant win anything with kids' years people, and look just how good we were then

United to make two more signings. One midfielder and a forward to replace berbatov. As for the guy who said medicals are booked 2 weeks ahead.....rubbish

Also - as a reply Kenny DOGleish will sign a raft of 'experienced' players to be able to challenge United for the title. Lpool signings will include john barnes, ian rush, alan hansen, igor biscan, jerzy dudek, and stan collymore

Just a thought, but could Nani's omission from the Champions league final prove to be a master stroke by Ferguson? By that I mean, I think Nani lacks the high levels of consistency required to be deemed world class, although I also know he is capable of turning it on, he doesn't keep his foot on the gas week after week.... I think Sir Alex saw it as a learning curve for him. (obviously allied with tactical reasons) Nani was good last season but still very patchy, and for me, if Nani stays, its time to truly start delivering high standards every single week, like some of the players he already thinks he's part of do.....
