migtent have to be a busy summer people were sorted at the back
vidic keane
jones evans smalling I think rio will leave
centre mid needs refurbishing badly ando fletcher schoelchs all should go that leaves powell claverly and michael carrick up front is great dosen't need to be touched the winges are sorted zaha valencia nani I think young should go and welbeck should play out there more left back evra is first choice and fabio will be cover for both fullback positions I really think buttner should become a winger would offer defensive abilitys but is currently better than nani young and valencia put together so ins
zaha confirmed strootman and johnny willams could see one marquee sining but its very unlikely outs are a different thing so heres my opinion
lindegaard rio young macheda bebe ando fletcher wooton valencia might leave depending on if a winger is brought in

Johnny Williams, do me a favour. I watched CP get trounced by Birmingham, and he was one of the worst players on the pitch.
We are man united, we need to buy the best, we've got plenty of fringe average or below average already, young, Valencia, cleverly, Anderson. We need to buck up our ideas!

Agree3 Disagree2

Im sorry noname I didn't specifically mean john willams I meant somone of his age and someone that has potental like him SAF probably won't buy two midfielders that will be first choice in the summer its more likely he go like that and buy one first teamer for example strootman and one player like powell last year

To put it simply I pay my money to be entertained. What we are getting in return for our money ain't good enough. Two lucky deflections last two games six points, wow. Yes the league is won but who cares we don't get a medal. We are rubbish to watch, Fergie out.

Salford Truth {Ed004's Note - This has to be contender for worst post of the year and why united fans are hated by other fans, if you are even a united fan}

What a tool

Agree10 Disagree3

Not hard enough to be a tool. plank!

Agree8 Disagree3

If you want to see good football but not win anything then may I redirect you to Arsenal football club. They seem much more like the team for you.

Agree10 Disagree2

More like, Salford Truth out.

Agree3 Disagree1

Well he got his bites anyway.

Agree3 Disagree1

Yes of course we want to win the league, but we also want to play in the united style.
Saf will sort it in the summer.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 wins in 30 matches (a record btw)

Whilst I applaud your desire to never be satisfied and to demand more, to call for Fergy out is quite frankly laughable.

Yesterday's match we controlled throughout, and kept Sunderland off the ball and away from our goal. Another clean sheet, is it 6 in a row? was as important yesterday as a hat full of goals.

Early season we were shipping plenty of goals, our ability to put this right through the season is one of the key reasons we will win the title.

Lastly, we have scored 11 more goals than any other team in the league, and only Citeh have conceded less, I'll wager that if you ignore the first 10 games we'll be top of that list also.

Some "fans" are never satisfied.

Agree1 Disagree1

30 Mar 2013 21:59:05
Why? I was never the best footballer at my high school but I was always taught as a winger to take on my man and put in a cross. Obviously it wasn't that simple for me due to me being horrific!

Ashley Young you are a professional footballer who gets paid thousands upon thousands a week and yet you still do nothing with the ball. I never usually single out one player but ever since we brought this guy he has done little for the club.

He will get the ball and instantly turn around and pass it to the fullback or a midfielder. He doesn't even consider running at his man, ever flicking it passed him and use his speed to run around him.

Yes defensively he may be alright and his work rate is top notch but what's the point in a winger who doesn't do his main objective?

We will be selling Nani this summer, but I personally think he shouldn't be the only winger leaving this summer.

On a brighter note at least Zaha is more of an attacking winger which we desperately need.

Believable9 Unbelievable2

Have you considered that none of our wingers are doing that much atm, even Valencia who was the best in the league at it a season or two ago. I suspect they are having it coached out of them due to the new tactic's the coaches/manager is trying to implement. I find that a much more likely scenario rather than three wingers who are/were the best in the league at beating a man all lose that ability over night.

It will be interesting to see what they do next season.

Agree13 Disagree3

Shappy

It has got nothing to do with coaching it out of them but our lack of pace of play and lack of midfield creativity. It is hard for wingers to beat 2 or 3 guys given most teams have plenty of time to set up to defend the way we go forward.

When they do have space to run there is hardly any advanced/support players in the box due to how deep we sit and defend.

We are set up to defend first and then counter and do not go forward in numbers and asking a front 3 or 4 to beat 6 or 7 defenders.

I watched Valencia for Equador and he seems to be just fine in a team that goes forward in numbers.

Jake I agree Young is a squad player and in hindsight a Waste of money given what we paid for him, However Zaha will also struggle if we play this way.

Finally, I feel sorry for Kagawa as he is a very talented player with great ball control and passing but needs better players in the middle of the park to show what he can do.

Shahram

Agree2 Disagree1

31 Mar 2013 10:42:50
Sharam, did you fully read my post? I said it was being coached out of them due to new tactics. Which is pretty much what you said. The coaching will be done to match the tactics. So if the tactics are to not flood forward in numbers and to sit deep then that is what they will be coaching to the wingers.

What I mean by saying it is being coached out of them doesn't mean they are having the ability coached out of them but that they are being taught and trained to play a different way which doesn't suit them.

I think we have played this way due to a lack of strength and pace in our midfield, so the team sits deep and doesn't come forward too much in order to help cover our defence. Hopefully with a couple of midfield signings this will change next season.

Agree8 Disagree0

My bad shappy, now that you have explained. If you watch Valencia for example yesterday and I know he is not having a good year but a lot of times when he gets the ball there are 3 players within 10 yards of him and no winger can get past that on a consistent occasion and will end up giving the ball away if he tried.

Ashley young on the other hand had a ton f space in the first half but did nothing with it.

Shahram

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Mar 2013 20:34:17
It was too easy

We turned up and strolled around. There was no pace in anything we did. We just did what we had to and it was just enough.
Buttner had an excellent game, but Carrick was the quality player. DDG didn't really have a save to make thanks to a determined defence and a poor, very poor Sunderland side.
Anderson was awful, Young was nothing special
We lacked any dynamism, pace and direction, but we won.

Another game ticked off the list, but it again showed just what we lack in midfield plus the tempo of our game is no where near what it should be. There are some who are just not Manchester United players who can't play to a level we need, Anderson and Young being prime candidates
The Sunderland manager should be more worried than us, they were awful. {Ed004's Note - I though Kagawa looked bright in the first half he links play so well but he needs a better supply line in midfield}

Believable2 Unbelievable1

Very good point Ed004,

I taught kagawa was excellent in the first half but the problem is players around him like valencia, young and anderson aren't technically good enough to play with him and once we scored it was like they stopped looking for him.

Also I think RVP should be rested for two straight games, no point having him on the bench and bringing him on at the 60th minutes and calling that a rest, he seems burnt out.

Sulei {Ed004's Note - I reckon rest RVP for Chelsea the play him vs City that would mean a whole weeks rest which is enough IMO. Could you imagine Kagawa playing in an attack with consisted of a midfield of Strootman and Carrick along with Gotze and Rodriguez further forward and obviously RVP who's brilliant technically. With 3 signings of players we have looked at and all are hard working on the pitch and I would sell 2 of Nani, Young and Valencia to raise funds. In that order as Valencia I hope will return to form hopefully. Keep rio and then the only other signing I would look at making would be Baines as full backs of Rafael and Baines would be brilliant}

Agree4 Disagree1

I think it was always going to be hard for the players to be "up" for this game. Sir Alex had said he was going to field to differant teams against Sunderland and Chelsea. So you can understand why some of the lads who played today may be stuggling to motivate themselves for this game.
Buttner Smalling Anderson Kagawa Young and Valencia probably know that they will be losing their places to Evra Rio Cleverley Rooney Nani and Welbeck come Monday night.
They knew Sunderland were bottom of the form guide and playing poorly and have just lost their two key players to season ending injuries.
So all in all it was never going to be a classic game. We got the three points and unless Rafael has picked up a knock then we've also avoided getting anyone injured.
On the plus side I thought Buttner looked bright and looks like he's starting to smooth out some of his rough edges, Kagawa looked like he's starting to gel with the team in the first half, Carrick and Vidic were solid, Smalling and Evans looked comfortable, DDG showed more conviction coming off his line and communicated more with his defence, and RVP should take some confidence from his "goal", which might help him find his scoring boots again. So there are positives to be taken from the game, they were just a little harder to notice.

I would expect a totally differant line up, tactics and attitude on Monday night. Then we'll have a weeks rest before the big one against City.

Agree10 Disagree0

As to the sunderland manager being worried he's been sacked lol

Agree0 Disagree0

Shappy, motivation shouldn't be a problem. If any of those players out there today had put in a stellar performance, they would have given SAF food for thought for Monday. Nothing is ever set in stone, let alone team selections.

If you know you're a squad player, you should be busting a gut every opportunity you get, to try and force your way into the first team, and games like today are the perfect opportunity to do so.

Agree0 Disagree0

Well that works well for O'Niell, he will keep his record of never being relegated with a team. Plus it's interesting that no team that has been involved in a relegation battle who have sacked their manager at this stage of a season has avoided relegation. Which for me just confirms that this year we'll see QPR go down along with Reading and Sunderland who have both cut the heads off the team precisely when they needed to keep it. I guess there is just the excitment of who'll get into the top four left now. lol

Agree6 Disagree0

31 Mar 2013 08:48:51
Steve, I know there shouldn't be a motivation problem, but considering the way the league has panned out with us having such a large lead you can understand the players maybe feeling the league is won and the FA cup is the only thing left to play for. So you can understand their dissapointment at maybe not being involved in what is the biggest game left of the season so they could play the team currently in the worst form in the league and will probably get relegated. Remember all the end of season games after the league is won and there isn't anything to play for? We always just coast through those games, because deep down the players just aren't as motivated for those meaningless games. that's why Sir Alex often plays the kids or players who need appearances to get a medal as they are more motivated.

Agree8 Disagree0

Shappy, they may not make the Monday game, but if we get through against Chelsea, a great performance yesterday would have put them in the manager's mind for the semis.

I always think there's something to play for, no matter how meaningless the individual game is - some players just don't look far enough in the future.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Mar 2013 18:22:29
Quite funny I was slaughtered for saying that the England game on Tuesday was like watching United. Today we bossed the first half and then just backed off second half. Does anyone dare come on here and defend that fat arsed over rated waste of space Anderson. How many times did players just run past him or run away from him. As for Young over 80% of his passes today went backwards. For gods sake you are on the wing, take some one on and go past them. We all know your just going to cut in and curl it to the far post. We will be the first team to win the league without a midfield. The amount of long balls from the back is scary. Admit it how many of you were screaming at the screen for Fergie to make some changes when Sunderland were over running us. Thank god for Vidic and Carrick today.

Believable13 Unbelievable6

Couldn't agree more kloot. Boring, non inventive, lacking in every way.

Agree9 Disagree3

Sorry KLOOT, even when Sunderland stepped it up in the second half, I never had any doubts the team would see it out. They didn't have one shot on target as far as I could see.

Agree8 Disagree6

Carrick was immense today, as well as Vidic and Evans.

Agree6 Disagree0

I challenged somebody yesterday who called Evans shaky. I think he is here for years to come, a tremendous player.

Agree8 Disagree2

Wickham had one late on

Agree0 Disagree0

Carrick has been wonderful all season the guy just needs some help in there.
Vidic and Evans superb, our defence is very tight at the moment.

Red Daz {Ed004's Note - Thats why I reckon this season we need 3 midfield changes 2 wingers and a partner for Carrick, Rodriguez and Strootman look likely but after recent comments we should go all out for Gotze as well}

Agree2 Disagree0

Would still take Ando over Cleverley at any given day, mate.

ZigZag

Agree2 Disagree4

Sorry noname, I stand corrected. DDG was hardly extended though. Couple of punches and a dribble of a shot - if that's the most a home team can get against us, we're not doing too badly.

I would prefer for the pundits to be honest rather than talk b. t and pay lip service to their bosses.

Guess what. i'm still fitter than Anderson.

Believable9 Unbelievable9

Who's going to be stupid enough to pay us to buy him? He's not even worth a million quid on this showing. Fat overrated and no threat or passion.
Get rid of this tosser saf and start buying some proper midfielders.

antonio valencia has had a disappointing season and against sunderland today he again struggled. His crossing has been poor and he is also struggling to beat avg left back. I feel he should be sold in the summer with zaha coming and if nani leaves maybe sign rodriguez. what do you think ed?
Sarnab

Believable7 Unbelievable7

Young was poor as well.

Nani has been poor all season as well.

In fact both have them have been pretty poor the last 2 seasons.

We won't be signing Rodriguez as we won't pay £35 million out for some over hyped kid.

Agree5 Disagree1

30 Mar 2013 16:43:07
RVP looks absolutly knackered. I understand he wants to play every game but Fergie needs to give him a rest or he's going to burn himself out!

IHaveNoName!

Believable13 Unbelievable4

On the bench against Chelsea and rest him for the derby, play him in the derby and then assess it based on who's next, I think Stoke? So rest him for that.

Agree2 Disagree0

Why isn't Hernandez getting a start or some game time? I know he's been away, but so had kagawa and some of the england players.
That was like watching paint dry!
Nomidfield

Hernandez played in 2 very tough world cup qualifiers and travelled a long distance.

I understand we have chelsea on Monday in mind but a very average 1-0 win against a struggling Sunderland team is just not good enough.

Bar the 4-0 win against Norwich can anyone tell me when United last won by more then 2? Why have United become a team that goes out just to secure a victory as if it were for business rather then entertainment?

Believable7 Unbelievable13

A win and 3 points isn't good enough? Give me strength.

TK-Red

Agree15 Disagree3

Mate, you want to relax. Most of our players were away with their National teams. At the stage of the season, it's about getting the points. I've been critical of our style this year but we did everything that was necessary today. As for entertainment, I think you'll find we are still top scorers, sorry it's not every game to keep you happy

Agree10 Disagree0

Wow, do u honestly think we've been entertaining this year? I don't think so. We've been winning matches against poor teams, but skill and tactics seriously lacking.
If that is the level u want, then that's fine, but don't expect us to challenge top European teams playing like that. It was rubbish.

Agree5 Disagree9

Some of our fans are so spoilt. Are we playing well? No. What exactly do you propose that we do about it at this stage of the season? The priority is winning games at the moment, however we play. Get a grip of yourself, no name.

TK-Red

Agree8 Disagree1

Agree with TK and AJH. We are coming to the end of a long campaign and at this point it's all about points and winning.

Hopefully, we will have a good summer transfer market that improves us in certain positions and hence the football is more attractive.

Chelsea line up tells a story, no Cole, Hazard, Luiz, Mata or Ba. So we know five of the Chelsea line up for Monday. Lol. Mata apparently ill, but you watch him be fit for Monday night. Throw the obvious other who'll start such as Terry, Ivanovic, Ceaser (RB), Cech, Mikel, Oscar. Hopefully they lose today to put them under pressure after playing such an under strength team.

Believable10 Unbelievable1

This lineup shows that Rafa would rather have the FA Cup on his CV than a 4th place finish. It's 2-1 to Southampton as I type so it could yet backfire.

Agree7 Disagree1

Could you maybe say the same about United
rooney and chica up top
Nani welbeck out wide
Clevs cm evra lb

30 Mar 2013 14:56:06
who do you think we will go for guys at the LB position, buttner clearly good going forward but terrible going back and is also probably the most one footed player I have EVER seen, opinions guys?

Believable2 Unbelievable12

Buttner was actually using his weaker foot, nowhere as near 1 footed as valencia

Agree12 Disagree0

He almost found the top corner with his right TBF. I thought he did OK. I'll guess that we'll stick with Evra for 1 more season and have Buttner and possibly Fabio as extra cover.

Agree12 Disagree0

Keep Evra 1 more season see how Fabio/ Buttner go.

Maybe in a few games next season try Buttner on the wing, couldn't do any worse than Young.

Agree6 Disagree0

I think Valencia and young are the most one footed players I've seen in our side. Buttner had a very good shot with his right foot, goalie made a good save.
Valencia and young are both rubbish and should be sold. Add Anderson to that too. {Ed004's Note - I don't get it, it appears everyone that comes on here slating utd after wins or during games never leave a name, for example, this is atleast the fourth negative post in a row from the same poster}

Agree0 Disagree1

I actually really like buttner, I think if he went out on loan to a team like wigan to play as a wingback he'd really shine and give us a season for fabio to challange evra for the spot and imulate rafa

Agree7 Disagree0

My wee lad plays left back - he always knows when the winger is taken off early, he's done a good job. Same with Buttner today - yes he got caught out of position a few times, but he made the ground up and got back in time. Plus a great effort with his RIGHT foot.

Agree2 Disagree0

30 Mar 2013 19:18:56
its because their scared ed. Its not been a vintage season at all. But if anyone had said back in the summer that by easter we'd be top and fifteen points clear you'd have got some strange looks. I think the main thing we've gone for this season is just winning and getting the points, back to basics on not conceding with a young keeper and a defence which has been rotated a lot. The entertaining stuff can come when we sort the weak spots. Personally I want anderson sold. If young stayed or left i'd be happy either way. I think a lot of fans have been spoilt and don't remember the rubbish we had to watch back in the day. MrE

30 Mar 2013 15:05:49
I thought Buttner had a good game and looked comfortable both going forward and defensively. Adam Johnson is a very tough opponant for a full back and Buttner marked him out of the game. He offers a real threat going forward, always put his foot in and always tracks back. He still has a few rough edges, but i'm sure the coaching staff can iron thoughs out. He has everything you need to be a very good full back. He reminds me of Rafael from a couple of seasons ago, and Rafael hasn't turned out to badly has he.

Agree4 Disagree0

30 Mar 2013 14:47:39
No, it's if you get 5 yellows in half a season. So the point which means he would have to serve a game ban for five yellows is in febuary I think. The thing that worries me more though is RVP seems to be stuggling to get a goal atm. I expect "his" goal today wilk be taken off him. He really should have scored with the last touch of the game.

I think it will go down as an og

Some will say that this is a poor and boring performance. However this is why we are SO great. No drama's, functional performances getting the job done. Very business like and you just know that we are going to get the three points.

Team selection has been very interesting, I think that Rooney, Ferdinand, Welbeck, Cleverly, Nani & Evra will all start on Monday night. No way will Vidic play and I very much doubt that we will see RVP start. but he probably will feature. Also, if Lindegaard doesn't start on Monday then it just shows that we have the utmost faith in De Gea and zero faith in Lindegaard, he is almost certainly on his way. Just a thought, do people think that it would be good enough to have Amos & Johnstone as back up keepers? I'm pretty impressed with both of them.

Believable4 Unbelievable1

You forgot Hernandez, but you don't like him anyway.
Vidic won't play against Chelsea? Why not? He looks fit enough to me and he's the best defender we've got. Also, Rio will get a lot of stick from Chelsea fans if he starts.
But if saf decided to start with Rio and Evans, then I'm sure they will do a good job.

I was just having fun, he is very good defender but not my cup of team when it comes to passing the ball. I prefer Evans as his passing range is excellent and he has been a great find for us. I am big fan of Varrane as everyone knows and see him developing into the best in the world in the next few years.

Hummels is a great defender but against Pacey guys, when he plays them very tight can get turned and beat for pace.

Down to team planning really. I agree with the post saying he will want to go back to Barca but if SAF thinks Powell will be able to take over by the time he is gone it would work out well for the team. Like RVP handing over the mantle to Welbeck, it's all about timing. Alcantara is one of the most talented players in the world no joke, but he's still a but raw. Perhaps a more established and experienced midfielder is needed.

Comments?

Believable6 Unbelievable1

This sort of comment really annoys me. Just because we didn't play well enough throughout the ENTIRE year, throwing away points and goals against other teams. One result does not win a league.

Also, just because some Sunderland fans celebrates City's victory doesn't mean you we have to "screw" them!

Made a post further down and I included saying we could lose chicha a world class players and a few people said he wasn't world class and was just an impact player, well my response it Ole Gunnar Solksjaer one of the best strikers I've seen scored more goals from the bench than when he started he was an impact player, he was world class. Chicha is the closest thing we have ever had to Ole and in my opinion he is world class. He doesn't do much outside the box but if I recall Ruud didn't much of that either yet he put the ball in the net. So at the end of the day a strikers job is to put the ball in the net and chicha is one of the best at doing that making him world class! Rant over.

You're comparing Ruud to Chicha? Ruud was a far superior player yes he was a poacher but he held the ball up so well and had so much more to his game overall than Chicha who struggles to do much more than poach. Solskjaer was a complete player, poacher, winger, number 10. he had it all and was very good at it just because he wad behind better forwards most of the time as we had a luxury of choices while he was here.

RVN was incredible and Ole accepted his role for many years as probably the best impact player I have ever seen. Chica has potential, has made a real impact, and clearly knows how to score but his other play is currently far for world class.

No he's not comparing the two together, but Hernandez is absolute class at taking chances. You can't buy this, you've either got it or you've not.
It concerns me that a lot of posters come on here knocking hernandez, look at welbeck and Rooney, they need a lot of chances to score, do we really want to lose Hernandez?
I'm sure he won't be sold, but if he went to city, Chelsea or spurs, will u be happy with that?
Come on guys, look at the guy's record, you lot are going on about he doesn't do much else, but he is a goal scorer, what else do u want?

We know nothing, we make educated guesses based on who were linked with in the press of which most of it is lies. So were assuming we are after a CB as we've been linked to a couple in the press, we may well be after a CB but it could just as likely be lies made up to sell papers. Nine times out of ten a papers source for a story is another news outlet in another country. In other countries certain press outlets have agendas beyond reporting truthful stories (Marca, Blid, Equipe ect). So 95% of what appears in print is b******t unfortunately. The best we can go with is if a scout has been spotted repeatedly at matches of a certain club then we can assume we are watching one of their players but again we would be speculating as to which player he was actually watching based on our own opinions of the players he could be watching and what we feel our team needs. Truth be told none of us have accurately guessed who we will be signing, especially 3/5 months before we would sign them. Maybe closer to the signing when the press have actually got some truthful info and it becomes obvious that we are trying to sign a certain player (e. g. Hargreaves, Carrick, RVP). So to be honest as to who will we sign? Well your guess will be as good as mine.

I'm confident we will sign some players and some others will leave
