I don't get why RM would sell ronny after they have bought bale. They are a club that buys superstars and want a squad full of them thry didn't sell kaka when they sign ozil. They won't sell ronny if they buy bale. Its just not a sensible move for them they want to win an they know they need ronny aswell as bale so I think an this is my opinion but ronny will stay at madrid.

They don't want to sell him but if he doesn't sign an extension they risk losing him for nothing. They are getting nervous because as of now he refuses to commit.

Deeps. "
@Deeps,
I'm starting to change my views on the Rooney saga, if we can get him on a reasonable contract and back to his best then I would absolutely love to see a 4-2-3-1 of; Usual backline - Carrick, Fellaini - Rooney, Kagawa, Fabregas - RVP.
I'll never forgive him for the way he's treated the club but If he does something positive for us I'll certainly credit him. even If I think he is a vile ape.

Really? besides being average as s*** over the last 24 months he wants a longterm lucrative contract extension that is not warranted and should be shipped out.
He will be average at the next club he goes to and people here thinking he suddenly will find 2 extra yards of pace that he lost are dreaming. He is 28 in october and his peak came and went a long time ago.

Moon
If we don't get our targets, it is imperative that he stays. It won't make a lot of sense to let go one of our better/best player (s), let alone to our league rivals. In regards to how he has treated our club, I just think he is as much a "bad guy" as any other modern day player. A lot of people on here have a skewed view (negative) on him only because he is a scouser. People post saying "Ronnie come back home, CR7 must come back to his real home" etc etc, they tend to forget the kind of posturing Cristiano resorted to for more than 2 summers. From the "slave" comment to everything else, now he is wanted like crazy. Football fans are fickle. Make no mistake, I would love Ronnie to be back. Atleast Rooney has kept his trap shut.

Ross,
im mainly looking at the way he treated the club a couple of years ago.
Shahram,
I don't actually think he will leave now, imo the chance has gone for him.
even if he does go, I won't be bothered I just wouldn't mind if he stayed either right now, I guess its taken me 2 years to calm down but its finally happening haha.
The Moon.
Agree0

I think m with you Moon. As you all know I can't stand him as a bloke but if gets his finger out and knuckles down then fair enough. However, I think he is going as he has decided its time to move on and frankly for £40M, we should takes the money and reinvest it.
Agree0
Disagree0
I think Rooney going solely depends on our incoming players. If we fail to sign adequate first team improvements then I think Rooney will stay. If we get Cesc then I think Rooney is as good as gone.
I am not sure if the Chelsea £40m rumours are true, but if it is then that is too much to turn down for Rooney IMO. But we do need to sign a midfielder or two first and improve our left side.
It seems again we are struggling to offload players like Nani, Evra & Anderson so it is difficult to go out and spend. If there is little or no interest in the players or no one wants to pay a fair price for them, then it's difficult for the club to bring in other players.

just like to say when rooney does play for us again let's not be stupid and senseless like other club's supporters by booing and abusing him, after all on his day he's a damned good player and he belong's at our great club, we do need him and I believe deep down most of you know that, the lad has got one big person of an agent and he sometimes forgets he's at the worlds greatest club, I really believe he can go on and be our all time top scorer and be one of our many legends that have graced our stadium, let's get behind wayne and the lads and s*** all over the Chelsea, scousers and noisy neighbours and celebrate title number 21, come on you know it makes sense, united together forever

We don't need a dog like him. If he hasn't learned after all these years, playing with some TRUE united legends, under a TRUE legend of a manager, he'll never get it.
He doesn't warrant the title of top united goal scorer. How embarrassing. When will people get it? Never hit his potential and is on the decline. He is also paid far too much for his attitude and lifestyle.

I think the majority of fans wanted Rooney gone at the end of season but now with us looking less likely to buy players IMO most fans wouldn't want him gone till there's a cm and a winger in place (push Kagawa in his real position). If there's anything behind him wanting to wait for how good of a reception he gets then for most people on here he will be as good as gone.

Not so United related but assuming Suarez signed for Madrid and with Higuain already off to Napoli, surely the only statement signing Arsenal could make would be Rooney. I don't know about you guys but personally I wouldn't mind loosing him to arsenal. And with two more years in his contract, they would have to pay stupid money for him (and possibly stay away from our Fabregas bid ) Just saying.

I got to be honest. I don't want Rooney to go, What I'd like is to see him back to his old self. Maybe take pride in the gym and not look like Fat Ronaldo and more like Our Ronaldo. Gan - I do not believe Ronaldo will come back this summer but to say we can not broker the deal is mind boggling. Have you ever heard of instalments?
George711""
dear mr george711
lets put all our intellect into this discussion, sir
installments may or may not incur interest
and the salary? not likely to get installments
lets look beyond that
500,000 per week minimum
hmm. if you were any other player in the squad.
yes you are not Ronaldo but the unhappiness would be massive
wage structure would be broken
demands will shoot up
other buys will be more expensive and demands for salary will be high
can a club in 100s of millions in debt afford it?

Good post Gan as usual, but the wage Ronaldo wants at Real is different to the one he will seek at Man Utd.
Although the wage will still be very high, the contract Ronaldo is asking Perez for is because he wants out.
Red Joe
Agree0

The salary wouldn't be that high as I'm sure something would be worked with him being used by General Motors, so he would earn from them IF he came to us, meaning we wouldn't pay him as much.
Also, the debt is totally manageable for United. It's a bit like a household on an average income paying a £10,000 loan for a conservatory and then deciding if they can afford a car loan to get a new car. The answer is more than likely yes as long as they budget for it correctly. We have a huge Chevrolet deal to kick in next year along with a new much bigger Nike deal also.
It wouldn't cause huge problems in the squad I don't think, as we wouldn't be breaking our structure for him and everyone realises Ronaldo is one of the two biggest stars in world football.
Lets have a bit of positivity, things will happen even if they are taking a long time, maybe not Ronaldo, but we will have a few quality additions.

Hopefully Anderson will get the chance to prove the doubters wrong. PLEASE STAY FIT ANDO! He's still young, and if he gets a decent run of games we'll see what we all know was there.
I'm Interested to see who else we sign. But all the same I would love to successfully defend our crown with what we have, people are seriously under rating us at the moment. Especially our own fans! Are they forgetting how we romped the league? Even relaxed at the end which cost us points. This season I expect to kick on, Kagawa's being settled playing a big part in our escalation. I hope Rooney stays, for me it's clear his immaturity/sulking towards SAF has escalated to what dramas we have today. But some people are just childish. Although I understand people's thick skin has developed scars. We've also got Zaha who has potential for great things.
Man City have made signings, but they are of the type that needs time to gel and have chemistry (Navas an exception, as all he does is run the lines all game. Good player, but predictable). I was unimpressed with them against Bayern, if they play like that in the premiership they'll be punished. Nice goal by Negredo, but for me Tevez is a better all rounder. So it's at most a sideways step for me. I honestly felt Milner was better than Jovetic. As is Nasri. The jury's out on Fernandinho. Dzeko is clearly unhappy, IMO he is wasted there. I can't even say 'Aguero' without suffering a chill or twitch of some kind. Class act all the same.
Chelsea are certainly the threat for me, they have an incredible team. But it's a team that will leak goals. Ivanovic, Luiz and Cahill are very prone to counter attacks due to their restletvess. Luiz is a great player, but IMO his ego drags him out of position too often. His need to always involve himself could lead to many cards, free kicks, and goals. Lukaku is going to be awesome and will certainly feature in many Dreamteams. I need not praise Hazard, Mata and Oscar. As we all know.
Arsenal>.? Suarez maybe? Tis all. Another few cobwebs.
Just a message to show we're not all doom and gloom fans. All the same I'd love Ronaldo back, or the perfectly fitting Fabregas. Fellaini would be a good fit too (I say this carefully after a torrent of abuse in December/January ;D) he is expensive for what he offers though.
Just as we are, we have a team with chemistry and are SERIOUS league contenders as it is. Any additions make us contenders for Europe.
Believable0
Unbelievable0
Good post patzi and I pretty much agree with everything but I do think we need one or two signings to freshen things up a bit like all teams need to. maybe the emergence of zaha, januzaj and lingard on tour could to it to a degree but I think we need a cm definately.
I agree that we are being massively underrated by some though but we've been written off many times before mate and we still win titles :)
Agree0
Disagree0
Patzi, good post, but two worries for me.
Anderson has not managed to stay fit in six seasons, so why now? Also, he is a player who likes to run with the ball forma bit before passing it. One touch football is not his forte. If we are trying to build a team around midfield, then we don't need our midfielders keeping the ball for 10 yards before passing it. Watch barca, the instant passing is what makes them dangerous.
The other point, is we leak goals worse than Chelsea, and we will always look vulnerable unless we change personnel in midfield and more importantly, change our tactics to guard against counters. Nothing I've seen in pure season has convinced me that the tactics are changing, we have shipped in eight goals against mediocre opposition. And most of our defence were playing. Unless we can buy a defensive midfielder to help the back four, we will be found out in the big games.
Nomidfield
Agree0
Disagree0
I really believe Anderson will reward our patience with him. It's so unlucky that he picks up an injury every time he finds his stride.
Look at RVP at Arsenal, he had 1 injury free season. Then we signed him.
I think that if he was indeed used in a deal with Everton like rumours suggest (Baines or Fellaini), I believe we will regret it.
I completely understand your points nomidfield, but at the start of last season our defence was a disorganised farce with injury and DDG had a few howlers. We have since settled and rotation of Jones, Evans, Ferdinand and Vidic (smalling, Keane maybe) in front of DDG (who I've rightly defended on here when the jury was out and vultures circled) is twice their defence.
I really wouldn't look into the pre season too much. New manager trying new things and personnel. But of course a defensive midfielder to further protect would be of benefit. I said Fellaini earlier, but I even think McCarthy would do a great job there. I know we see him getting forward for Wigan and Eire, but he really has the mould of a more skillful Keano about. I see a lot of him as I'm Irish, and he has the no nonsense style I love. Albeit bias. lol.
Unfortunately he is well overpriced at £20m, I think he's worth £12m purely because of Wigans relegation. The majority would moan about his signing. And would be surprised by his consistency.
My dream signing as i've stated on umpteen occasions is VIDAL. For me, he would fit better than anyone. And that includes Ronaldo, Bale, Ozil, Rues, Fabregas etc. And this is Purely due to what we need most.
Obviously Fabregas will also be great, as would Ronny.
I just don't see the harm in appreciating the team we have already, and anything else on top being a bonus!
Agree0
Disagree0
I think we all appreciate the team we've got but I think most would agree without doubt that we've been missing that bit of class in midfield for a few seasons.
Most of us agree that ando would do well IF he can stay fit but its a big IF.
Im actually with you on mcarthy and i'm sure if he played for a more glamorous club he'd get more recognition just like schneiderlin but atm we need something more IMO.
vidal would be ideal but I think lars bender would be more available annd would be a great signing

Okay, Listen to me guys;
Ronaldo IS NOT returning, Early stage talks took place but nothing will happen THIS summer.
He will stay for one more season simply to show RM that he does mean what he says about running his contract down.
RM believe he's bluffing so to speak and will therefore reject every bid for him.
Will Ronaldo return next season? maybe.
I wouldn't count on it, but there is 100% chance Cristiano Ronaldo will not be playing in any other color but white next season.

Hes not a fan, he'll be moving to a club which is terrible in comparison to what he played in.
It would be like Fabregas going back to Arsenal, he wouldn't simply do it because he's done it and the squad isn't at the level it was.

Has anybody thought maybe the reason why he haven't announced the signing of Garay, Baines or Fellaini (Not saying we've signed any of them) Is because Moyes wants to start of his era with a huge signing such as Fabregas/Ronaldo/Modric?
This would be a massive confidence boost for the club as a whole including the fans! Imagine within a week Moyes announces 3-4 signings with one superstar being one of them!
It just seems weird our transfer targets haven't been signed yet, maybe just maybe there is much more going on behind the scenes than we think?

I will be back to say " I told you so " when he rips the a*** out of the teams he plays against.

cuscochris is telling us that a very sophisticated deal has been structured to bring Ronny back home whilst Mckay91 is telling us no discussions have been had - you can't both be right guys, one of you must therefore be talking rubbish. I just wonder which one?

I thinks Cusco's post is very well thought out but obviously may be based on what would work and not what is happening. I hope he's right. It would make sense in terms of Real going for Bale and Suarez. This would allow Ronaldo to go but would mean Rooney leaving IMO. It would on reflection make all the players involved happy and doesn't leave any of the clubs with egg on their face either. It appears that Bale, Suarez and Rooney are now at decision time regards their club next season. I think Real will get Bale and Suarez. I also think Rooney will go to Chelsea. I think we will get Cesc and Ronaldo. Everyone in a new but happier position even the fans. It just all seems to be on the brink to me probably waiting on paperwork and confirmations. Otherwise we are all being mugged off massively?

I hope you are right as that would be an unbelievable first 11 and should make us a favorite for the cl but I highly doubt RM would allow Ronaldo to leave.
Bale is nowhere near Ronaldo today or anytime in the future and for all we know none of these transfers will happen and only speculation. 85 million for bale sounds nuts and I can't see it happening. I think Suarez will go and so will Rooney.

Guys don't blame Moyes and the new CEO for our lack of signings; because our transfer efficiency has been cr4p for quite a number of years.
Think of the big signings under fergie. Berbatov we were very strongly linked with before he went to spurs, we didn't do anything and then bought him 2-3 years later for over £30m. Rio- fergie commented that dirty Leeds overpaid for him, then we signed him 2 years later for about £30m. In the "no value" summer we sold Ronaldo for a world record fee, Real Madrid had players to virtually dispose and sold Sneijder for £13m to inter and he won them the treble. Then we apparently miss out on him for ridiculous money. Same with Modric, we were interested in him before spurs, they sign him for a value price and then we go in 2 years later for double or triple that fee. Loads more examples of this.
And please don't get me started on the long list of greats we narrowly missed out on signing over the years.
Signings like RVP and de gea are real exceptions for us of late. And signing players like Valencia and Young to replace greats like Ronaldo and Giggs is a total embarrassment.
Believable0
Unbelievable0
RVP was an exception, he was a panic buy.
Having missed out on Moura and Hazzard Fergie had money to use or loose.

Didn't Young replace Obertan?
Also at first I'd say Valencia was a good replacement for Ronaldo.
MEF

I've heard it all, "Valencia was a good replacement for ronaldo"! Jesus, I give up!
I agree with the original poster, we seem to miss out on a lot of these players then want to sign them two years later for a load of money.
I will add to your list, David Silva who was strongly linked with us before he signed for city. And how about Michael Carrick, we didn't sign him from WH, spurs buy him for little money, then couple of years later, we pay mega bucks for him.
It is a problem with our scouting personnel which had a lot to do with saf keeping a close shop along with his son, who was clearly not up to the job.
Agree0

For gods sake, I could have replaced obertan!
Is this the level we're seeking at united? Wake up!
Nomidfield
Agree0

The fact we signed obertan, bellion, djemba djemba, bebe, taibi to name but a few speaks volumes. The original poster was spot on. I would go, further and say that not only do we over pay, but we sell our players on the cheap. Ronaldo included. If barca or Madrid had sold him, they would have taken a percentage of his merchandising, inserted a reduced buy back clause and got more money in the first place. We are mere novices. Accept it.
Agree0
Disagree0
Agree and have posted the same, our scouting under saf has been poor and seems like we have missed on so many reasonable buys to only pay through the nose later for the same player. SAF was very fortunate with the crop of talent that came through in the early 90's and was the core of the team and allowed him to buy add ons to fill the small gaps and continue to win.

Hello people :)
I know that Ronaldo coming back is not a huge possibility, rather a very very slim chance of it actually happening. But let's say he becomes a Man United player by the end of the transfer window. How would it effect the team in your opinion. You obviously can't put him on the bench. So, that means one of the other wingers would have to be sacrificed. If Ronaldo plays on the right hand side, Valencia would be the one to make way. If he plays on the left hand side, either Nani or Young have to sold. Personally, I can't see him playing through the centre or up top, because of RvP and Kagawa/Rooney (if he stays). Then obviously there is Zaha, who has had a good pre-season and deserves every little opportunity to play.
Basically, what I'm asking is, How do you guys see Ronaldo fitting into the starting XI, Keeping in mind the formation the manager has used in the pre-season games.
My opinion is that Valencia could be sold to make way for Ronaldo (if this transfer actually happens). The way the team has been playing under David Moyes, I just don't think a traditional winger like Valencia would fit in.
Thank You.

Completely agree with Andrew. I like Young as a person, but he is a squad player at best for united
Agree0

Agree with AndrewB, cr7 will play on the left where we've not had a decent winger in years. This is the position he mostly played at Real, and he was quite successful there!
In my opinion, young or Valencia should be sold, both are one footed wingers, and that's the reason they are not performing. If you are a full back and you know the winger can only go one way, then it is a lot easier to mark the winger.
The quality of full backs in the top teams has risen dramatically in recent years, as these players are now seen as a big part of the team defensively and offensively. So unless we have wingers who can play with both feet, ie Ronaldo, robben, hazard etc, then they will be caught out.
Nomidfield

Thank You for the replies.
I would like Rvp up-top with Ronaldo-Kagawa and Rooney behind him. This would have enough creativity and attacking instinct to scare any opposition. And if a match calls for wingers (Like under Sir Alex, the 4-4-2) we can obviously use Nani/Zaha on one side and Ronaldo on the other. I think if Ronaldo does come back, Young and possibly Valencia could be surplus to requirements. Why not Nani? Becuase I feel that he has the talent, only needs to be consistent.

Why is it that you say your transfer kitty is massive yet you bid peanuts for players. Surely if you're that minted you should of got some players in by now?
It must be Moyes putting them off I guess. I imagine the longer he stays and the more you lose it'll only get worse.
I mean the blue Mancs have spent 90 million and not even finished yet. You really are getting left beyond in the league let alone Europe.

As you called us mancs I am guessing Liverpool fan, and I can understand the desperation for us to be as crap as you but unfortunately that isn't going to happen any time soon.
Tell me which of city's signings with the 90 million you think are going to make them so much better than us? Just because they have overpaid for a few good players doesn't mean they are miles ahead of us. You do know they spent 500 million in 5 years and finished 11 points behind us?

Is it just me, if the signings we are trying to make are becoming so protracted then do we really want them at our club, i'd rather have a player who would jump at the chance to wear an united shirt rather than someone in it for the money.
In the end the heart and desire will always win over greed.
Make a bid for a player by all means but if the desire to join the club is lacking, forget them and find someone who is eager to play for us.
We have recently been involved in transfer dealings which have put us in a bad light, for what ever reason these deals have not materialized we need to address the situation and sign players of a high quality who want to wear the shirt of the best family in the world.

Believable0

In relation to Garay I would not be happy if he is bought and it blocked the progress of Michael Keane. The major proviso is whether Keane is good enough, if he is ready to take the step up (it is a big step) and is good enough then we need to give him a chance. Perhaps Moyes has seen Keane as a real prospect and that is why the Garay story has gone quiet.
