Could ozil to us happen? What your opinion guys.

04 Dec 2017 09:05:33
Sorry ed002's was looking more of the opinion of everyone on here. Sorry for the confusion.

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - That is fine, People can share their opinion.}

04 Dec 2017 09:47:31
It could, he is an excellent player. I don’t know if he is quite the right player for us though. We have creative No.10’s in Mkhitaryan and Mata, yet neither seem to offer the physicality/ work rate that Jose prizes in his players. I think Ozil falls into that same category. We have seen over the last couple of games how we are transformed offensively when a hard working No.10 such as Lingard plays. I think there are better options out there for us than Ozil.

Agree3 Disagree0

04 Dec 2017 10:06:47
Özil would get hammered by fans even more than he is now if he joined us I would imagine.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Dec 2017 16:22:29
I could see Ozil at United I think he’d be protected from the abuse for lack of defensive work as you play relatively defensively anyway so I think it could be well suited. Would you guys be happy with the signing?

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Dec 2017 22:36:40
Yes i can see it happening. he's a talented player and judging by comments from Ed Woodward this type of transfer would appeal given Mesut also has a large social media following.

Rumoured spurs will let rose go JANUARY but only for 45mil

In todays climate, given tge increase in player fees ala neymar i want to ask - is 45mil a fair valuation?

Believable1 Unbelievable4

03 Dec 2017 19:39:20
I would go for Bertrand before rose.

I agree with jred, Rose has missed a lot of football in recent years.

03 Dec 2017 20:34:56
Ah come on jred, give Shaw a chance. He's only young.

03 Dec 2017 20:56:22
Bertrand looks average and rose a slight improvement on Bertrand imo. There must be better left backs home or abroad available and better than those two.

03 Dec 2017 21:51:35
Ryan Sessegnon all the way for me.

03 Dec 2017 22:12:27

I'd be happy with Kieran Tierney over Bertrand and rose. What I have seen of him has been great defensively.

03 Dec 2017 23:47:45
Gaya is a good option, just my opinion.

04 Dec 2017 02:38:53
Alaba for me.

Agree0 Disagree2

04 Dec 2017 09:50:11
Aaron Martins, Ghoulam, Teirney and Jetro Willems are probably better options than Rose. Bertrand would certainly be more likely to stay fit.

Hi ed002

Read that yoy mentioned that Asensio of Real Madrid shall be alowed to leave. I tried searching on european pages and found that you last mentioned that real doesnot want to sell him. If you have the time can you please share his destination.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - It is unimportant who they have been speaking to. And you do realise this is the Manchester United page?}

03 Dec 2017 22:34:38
I am pretty sure the side speaking to Real Madrid about Asensio is Chelsea Victor.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Dec 2017 09:56:00
Ed002, You mentioned that Marco Asensio is a player United have considered but that Real Madrid are reluctant to sell. As such it was you didn’t consider it likely to happen. Also that Griezmann is less likely to move to United as United feel that a left winger is a higher priority. So with Real Madrid’s stance on selling Asensio softening slightly do you think it likely that United might consider making a move for Asensio? Cheers.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - It is possible. They have spoken with another club about him but I expect MU will consider Bale further.}

04 Dec 2017 10:59:40
Signing Bale would be playing right into Real Madrid's hands. Not only would it give them plenty of cash to go strengthen, it would get an injury ravaged player off their wage bill and create the space in the first team for Asensio making it more likely he would stay. I would stay as far away from Bale as possible.

03 Dec 2017 17:02:02
Heard that amazing footballer, coach and expert, Mr Robbie Savage discussing De Gea. He was saying about him been world class like Manuel Neuer, and said if he wants to get to that level he has to add things to his game. Apart from been a sweeper keeper, what else does he need to do?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed004's Note - Become more commanding during set pieces and maybe improve his sweeping abilities although I don’t recall him ever making a mistake coming out}

03 Dec 2017 18:00:42
Agree entirely with Ed. He does not command his area. He never comes out for crosses, that's his only weakness. Rest is the best.

03 Dec 2017 23:07:50
I think he might have come out for a cross at least once, Attack (or if you prefer being called these days)

Hope they score another to close at 2-0.
City look pretty tired and quiet so far Jred.
Gets me thinking we should be aggressive and attack next week.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed004's Note - They won’t be tired and quiet next week. You can be sure of that much. Not getting my hopes up like during the week. Remember it’s a David Moyes side we are relying on}

03 Dec 2017 17:07:12
Agree Ed004.
Whatever it is we need to be really focus and play well. It’s a very important and defining game for us in terms of tightening on City. Hope Pogba’s red is overturned 🙏 though I know it’ll be tough.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed004's Note - No chance it’s gets overturned. Imagine the uproar}

03 Dec 2017 18:02:23
It's a must win game for us and if we leave gaps, then city will put four past us.

Agree2 Disagree1

03 Dec 2017 18:06:41

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Dec 2017 18:13:41
Keep it up AAA your negativity and lack of belief is inspiring the team😂😂😂
City have stumbled over the line in their last 3 games. don't get me wrong that's the sign of a great team but it's getting tougher for them. Once the bubbble bursts and they get a setback or fail to stumble over the line we will see what they are made of. I don't see them falling apart but if the gap narrows and it becomes tight my money would be on jose and united.

03 Dec 2017 18:25:26
Its a long way down from the top.

Agree0 Disagree1

03 Dec 2017 14:29:17
I wonder will they appeal the red card according to a couple of refs on sly today there is merit in appealing.
1 he was not out of control
2 he nicked the ball and landed on bellerin
3 bellerin was in a totally unorthodox position
So it much be just downgraded to yellow but it's a long shot.

Believable6 Unbelievable2

03 Dec 2017 15:02:50
I'd be very surprised if it wasn't appealed. I said at the time he got the ball first and once stretched you cannot pull out of challenge, naturally you'll follow through, just so happened for whatever reason Bellerin was laying there. That being said I'd be shocked if it's overturned. They generally like to back the ref. It wasn't deliberate, but it was avoidable. That being said he had every right to go for the ball which he actually got.

We'll appeal and it will be rejected I think.

Agree0 Disagree2

{Ed004's Note - I agree. Nothing to lose appealing it but it was a red card no matter how unfortunate it was}

03 Dec 2017 15:24:46
I would be surprised if they appeal it red card all day long for me.

Agree3 Disagree5

03 Dec 2017 15:57:45
Agree we should appeal but when was the last time the FA did United any favours?

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed004's Note - Not banning Lukaku}

03 Dec 2017 16:05:43
I would appeal it because if he does get an extra game ban for a frivelous appeal, he would only miss the league cup game against bristol city as well as the 3 league games he'd already miss.

Agree1 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - It would be a dumb thing to do. Clubs need to act responsibly regardless of their stupid fans.}

03 Dec 2017 16:39:12
it needs to be a unanimous decision by the panel and no way would that appeal get a unanimous vote. i would even wish to appeal the man of the match award. how did DDG not get it?

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Dec 2017 17:05:09
It was a clear red card, he could have broken his leg. Why appeal it?

Agree3 Disagree2

03 Dec 2017 18:03:18
That's true Ed, but that was marginal.

Agree0 Disagree1

03 Dec 2017 18:42:28
It surely won't be overturned but I do think there's a case that Bellerin's leg was in a completely unnatural position and, in the split second that a player has to decide to go for the ball or pull out, that unexpected element may have deceived Pogba. In any event, had Bellerin been in a normal position, there is no way that challenge would have been worthy of a red.

Agree0 Disagree1

03 Dec 2017 19:53:29
A straight red In that context ajh is for serious foul or dangerous play. There was boo intent no aggression in the tackle it was unfortunate. I thought red at the time but after listening to the comments today he may have a case super slow mo makes it look like he left his foot in but in real time he removed it as soon as possible. It was totally accidental imo. But that said I don't think it will be over turned.

Agree1 Disagree1

04 Dec 2017 10:08:57
No point appealing, take the 3 and move on, be more likely to get an extra game for his childish applauding on the way off.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Dec 2017 16:25:52
I think it was a clear red and you got away with the lukaku incident by we got away with mignolet, I just want consistency that’s the joke with the FA no consistency it gives fans a chance to feel aggrieved if one gets away with it and another doesn’t.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Dec 2017 14:01:25
Great game great result yesterday, DDG has truly turned into a world class keeper, linelof had a good game and looks to be turning into a good player, thought big rom had his best game for Utd without scoring, his hold up/ link up play was great, lingard was very good and is proving me wrong as i didn't think he was good enough, if we attack city i think we will get something, if we sit back we could getting hammered, good luck next week lads.

Believable2 Unbelievable2

03 Dec 2017 16:00:52
Smooth. We can't go full blast at City. I was wrong in thinking we could not beat arsenal. And our attacking on the break was sensational. However, if arsenal managed 14 shots on goal then I am scared to think how many chances city will create.
Great result.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Dec 2017 16:45:02
Agree we schmid. City are different gravy to arsenal.

But saying that city have been very lucky the last 3 games and teams have created chances.

If we can break and attack thebway we have the last few games and be ruthless we can cause them problems.

We can t be going into the game scared of what there attack can do ours is just as good.

Great win yesterday and fantastic game reminiscent of the United v arsenal games of old. Can’t say it was not nerve wracking but to put 3 past arsenal at there ground is a fantastic achievement!

I actually quite like the 3 at the back formation with the front three causing real havoc for defences. Wanted to touch on Jesse as I have been one of his biggest critics and often thought he was not good enough. But my has he proved me wrong. He was brilliant yesterday and he runs and works hard for the team like no other player. We tend to forget united is in his blood and being a local boy he will do anything to see us win. He offers something our othe attackers don’t - movement. Sensational movement off the ball and something that really made me think was Rio and scholesy’s comments last week about how talented he was. The fact that these two are pointing out his talent tell us he can develop into a very good player. I hope he knuckles down and improves his consistency as he has been very good last few games.

Just to mention De Gea. Wow what can I say. The guy is super human. Some of those saves are obscene. Every season he makes me gasp and wonder how the hell he made that save. He is without doubt the best keeper in the world and we should do anything to keep hold of him because keepers like that save you 12-15 points a season. May be controversial but he has the ability to surpass schmeichel as our greatest keeper ever. Love his attitude and he has never thrown his toys out the pram at not getting his move to real. We are blessed to have him at our great club and I hope he is will is for many years to come.

Believable8 Unbelievable1

03 Dec 2017 10:58:55
That game yesterday reminded me a little if the Newcastle came game we won 1nil.
Newcastle battered us but schmiechel played like a goal keeping god. Cantona scored in a 1 nil win.
Yesterday we did create more chances and the speed of our play was very good on the break.
Neither martial nor lukaku scored but both played well and contributed a lot.
Lindelof smalling and rojo all defended well throwing their body on the line. Both full backs / wing backs contributed in the final third and defended well. Matic often our only cm with pogba running channels and pressing high was fantastic doing the defending of 2 men. And pogba Berri influential and while i think it was a red there was no intent to injure just bad timing imo.
Jessie running wild covering every blade of grass covering and pressing making runs to be an option super game from him.
As the stats show we were poor in possession but the will to win can carry you a long way and jose has the players working really hard to win by any means and that bodes well.

Believable6 Unbelievable1

03 Dec 2017 11:36:47
Aye agreed.

Agree0 Disagree1

03 Dec 2017 12:39:37
Everyone did their bit yesterday. But I got to say, lukaku, for the big lump that he is, has to have the worst timing in terms of jumping for a header. He is incredibly bad at trying to win a header. Haha.

Agree2 Disagree7

03 Dec 2017 15:22:23
Lukaku has been excellent this season, but there are two key areas he needs to work on.

His hold up play has been very inconsistent. For someone so powerful he is simply not aggressive enough. He should watch some tapes of Drogba - he would dominate any two centre halves in the league and I really think Lukaku is capable of the same.

He is also far to static in the box. Too many times he gets to around the penalty spot and then stands still and watches. He is our 9 and majority of the time needs to be making either front or far post runs. Jesse's movement for the third goal springs to mind. Lukaku would have stood still around the pen spot, Jesse attacked the space at the back post and had a tap in.

I still think he has added a huge amount to our first team, he has so much further to grow.

Agree0 Disagree2

03 Dec 2017 10:19:59
David De Gea is the best player in the Premier League. He is the ONLY player in the Premier League for whom you could make a convincing argument as being the best player in the world. Because of the nature of the goalkeeping role he's unlikely to ever win a Balon D'or (and certainly never whilst he's at United), but he is one of the game's greats, may possibly become one of the game's all-time-greats.

Believable3 Unbelievable1

Guyz missed the game. Can anybody comment on how Lindelof performed?

What are everybody's (including eds) views on him seeing that he performed well in last 2 games prior to arsenal.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

03 Dec 2017 09:19:47
I think the three at the back system suits him well. It also covers for a lot of Smalling's shortcomings. Although I will feel much better going into the City game if Jones and Bailly are back fit.

Agree2 Disagree1

03 Dec 2017 13:12:34
Lindelof is given more freedom in a three. He frustrated Sanchez yesterday. Any time Sanchez approached the area he was on him like a rash. This is what Bailly would usually do, but I'd love to see how a three of Lindelof, Bailly and Rojo could work as they are all great on the ball.

Seen a stat that Lindelof is MU's fifth fastest player. That's some feat if true.

Agree1 Disagree1

{Ed004's Note - I think if the plan is to play 3 at the back it should be Lindelof/Bailly competing for the right side, Smalling a permanent fixture in the centre and Rojo/Jones competing for the left side. I think our best back line would be Bailly, Smalling, Rojo. If we are still looking at a centre back I would look to find an upgrade on Smalling or potential replacement such as Van Dijk or Upamecano. I also would start preparing Tuanzebe to replace Jones (too injury prone) and compete with Rojo
I thought Lindelof played well yesterday though and the back 3 is helping a lot of our defenders}

03 Dec 2017 13:38:47
I don't think Smalling is in Jose's long-term plans mate. But he's decent in a three. I know Ed002 has said we are interested in another CB, but other than Garay who else has been mentioned?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed004's Note - I’m not sure. I think in the Sharkopods Upamecano, Luiz? and Umtitti were mentioned but they would all be expensive. Also think Umtitti would be a Rojo replacement not one for central position. I think Smalling has been excellent recently and his form is really going under the radar but he just lacks a bit too much on the ball to be building a team around. I think if we could get someone like Varane or Van Dijk it would be a massive improvement. Not sure Umtitti is enough of an upgrade on Rojo to spend the money on.}

03 Dec 2017 14:09:47
Jose has a clear long-term interest in Varane, but would RM sell and would he move to United? But agree a back three of Bailly, Varane and Rojo would be some defence. Although I think Lindelof, Bailly and Rojo would be very strong eventually. I'm sure he knows what he wants, but Ed002 has said for sometime Smalling is available and even Jones. I think we have more pressing concerns though, so maybe we will concentrate on other areas first?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed004's Note - Varane would be the ideal signing. Though I don’t think he would be attainable and he would be very expensive. He’s also very injury prone. I’m not sure the central position would suit Bailly. Ideally, it would be someone aerially dominant, quick and very imposing. That’s why I think Smalling is performing so well there. An extra bonus would be someone very good on the ball as well. The likes of Varane and Van Dijk have that presence to make the position their own. If we go for a 3 at the back position we would only need 3 signings to our current squad. A rb to compete with Valencia, a left back and an upgrade on Lingard (Griezmann or Ozil ideally).

03 Dec 2017 14:21:38
Yeah he is quick. But he is not hard enough. ha ha that's what mrs beast says about beast as well😂😂😂.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Dec 2017 14:30:35
Bailly is better than all of the above on the ball. His passing is great and he's very quick. I guess all he lacks is that imposing beast look. Yet he's 6'1", so not small. I think Bailly would do very well centrally, not sure I'd spend £60m+ on someone like VVD or Varane when we have more urgent concerns elsewhere in the first team. It will be interesting to see what Jose decides. But I like the thought of trying Lindelof, Bailly and Rojo. Then there's Tuanzebe, Smalling and Jones as cover.

Agree2 Disagree0

03 Dec 2017 15:12:51
004 I agree that if we play 352 that we are well off for forwards rash ibra martial lukaku cover the 2 striker positions very well but in the summer ibra will need replacing.

We are very light on like for like cover for matic which is why fabhino would make the ideal signing providing top class competition and cover for both valencia and Matic. And also pogba.

Then a left back / wing back to challenge young. Rose imo when on form is excellent but his injury record is poor he is also cup tied. Tierney looks happy to stay ay Celtic for now. I don't see another attainable outstsnding candidate for Jan but I'm sure we have a list.

The cb is the interesting one. Smalling has been playing well. I'm not a fan of Jones or rojo. Both will and can play very well but Jones is totally unreliable and rojo is too rash imo but i do love their attitudes. Varane would be ideal but it's a real long shot. i'd love to see shaw and Jones playing for Southampton in Jan and VVD playing for us which is an even longer shot 😂.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed004's Note - I think centre back is the last position I would prioritise. I could see Griezmann replacing Ibra in the squad. Would leave Lukaku, Griezmann, Martial, Rashford, Mkhitaryan, Lingard and maybe Mata for the front 3 positions. If Fellaini goes we are one short in midfield. Lastly, we need 2 fullbacks before a centre back}

03 Dec 2017 15:27:49
Ed4
I agree I think smalling has played really well of late wins nearly everything in the air.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed004's Note - He is by far and away the best centre back in the air for us. If he is replaced we need to get someone just as dominant}

03 Dec 2017 16:57:03
Smalling has been very good this season in the three. If he was better on the ball he would have it all. I can remember when Smalling was given a run a couple seasons ago and he was unbeatable. Under LvG too he had a purple patch. Jones with a run of games was great too, same with Rojo. Sometimes players just need those games. Lindelof is another example of this. I'd be a little worried chucking Bailly or Jones straight back in. Last time both back from injury had baaaad games. I may be inclined to keep the same formation bar Pogba against City.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed004's Note - I would play the exact same formation and style vs City. My only change would be Herrera for Pogba. Play them exactly the way West Ham have so far in this game today}

03 Dec 2017 17:05:28
I agree Ed004. Herrera will need to be very busy this weekend. We'll miss Pogba breaking and I'd prefer it if Herrera stayed back. I wonder if we'll see Matic get forward? Or could we play with Young? He have to test City because like Liverpool they aren't great at the back. Their best defence is attack. We need to have a go when we have the ball. Pogba's composure on the ball and ability to pick the pass will be a massive loss.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed004's Note - City are also poor from set pieces, Pogba is a big missing on those. I would continue with Young at leftback}

03 Dec 2017 18:05:33
If bailly is fit it wouldn't shock me if lindelof played In beside matic. It's the sort of thing jose does from time to time.

Watched the game and was happy that we won. Good score of 3-1 but I am not totally convinced yet that our team is 100% reason being:
1. We were not in full control from the later part of H1 onwards.
2. We were not attacking enough and lack possession the whole of H2.
3. Kudos to Arsenal that they played well when we started to take our foot of the pedal
4. I accept Pogba's red card but feel it is not intentional as he was trying to flick the ball away but Bellerin just leave his trailing leg there asking to be stepped on. But that's football and I just hope referees will be consistent in future.
5. DDG saves us again as I feel we might have drew or even lose by a goal.
That said, wonderful feeling about the win and happy to have watched a great game of holding and going out on fast break. It's beginning to feel like days of old even though we were vulnerable during a stretch of the game but hey we came out fine.
Great results, wonderful win, good team and manager and sad red card.

03 Dec 2017 10:48:59
Red - You do realise that we were playing Arsenal who haven't lost at the Emirates since January and have won their last 12 home games in a row.

That game was totally unrecognisable from any previous away performance we've seen from a Jose team against our main rivals.

Our start was electric with a very high press, we attacked with pace and numbers. When you commit men forward and press high it's almost inevitable that you will give away some chances and have to be more reliant on the defence and goal keeper!

We bullied Arsenal and they couldn't cope with our power and pace. We looked like scoring every time we went forward. We scored 3 and had other great chances and opportunities.

It wasn't a perfect performance but we put Arsenal to the sword at times and the work rate, commitment and desire was fantastic.

We've missed that kind of intensity and work rate that we simply don't get from the likes of Miki, Mata and Ibra. We don't necessarily need that every game especially at home when teams often sit deep and concede possession but I think this needs to be the blueprint moving forward against the better teams.

I remember Lingard and Rashford running Chelsea ragged last year in arguably our best performance of the season.

It was brilliant edge of your seat stuff which we haven't seen for ages. Just as Arsenal fight back we counter brilliantly and it really was a throw back to what we'd often see from Fergi's best sides.

Yeah DL just that I wasn’t sitting down but watching from my bed as it was very late at night (1.30am) 🤣🤣.
But yes I love the intensity and excitement and hope we continue to play better and even more attacking and with sharpness. I can’t wait for the team to bring back that “fear” factor back not just at OT but everywhere. There were lapses but hey since when any team doesn’t have?
So yes it’s great and I trust Jose to slowly evolve the team and become the ManUtd team we all are wishing for.
Trust me even after the game I couldn’t sleep and kept thinking about the game and the highlights only to finally get to sleep this morning at 5am (Asia zone) with a smile on my face 🤣🤣.

That was a stunning game. Hats off to Jose for the team he picked and for the pressing we did. Great start with 2 clinical goals, Lukaku, Martial, and Lingard linking up so well again.

For most of the game we were under a lot of pressure and gave up possession; on another day we would have conceded more than 1. But we didn’t and we went down the other end and scored another, we also had other great chances we didn’t take.

Lukaku never stopped working but DDG and Jesse were the star players. Great saves from DDG after a slightly nervous start but Jesse scored 2 and never stopped running, he has the potential to be a top top player and just needs to find consistency.

Pogba played well but the red card was deserved, it was a very ugly tackle and whilst it may have simply been mistimed it was clearly a red card. Martial did well before fading and he really needs to stop shaking his head when he gets substituted, take one for the team mate.

A great game but also an odd game, if roles were reversed we would be gutted not to have got a result. The positive thing is that when we attack we look like scoring and against both Watford and Arsenal we didn’t let the loss of a goal upset us, we simply scored another.

On to City, ok no Pogba but let’s go for it, there is no point in doing anything else.

Spot on ajh. A Fergie esque performance of absorb, absorb and then hit them where it hurts.

Two games where the opponent pulled themselves back to within one goal, where we could have capitulated but instead held nerve and killed off the game. The effort and application kills any questions around this team playing for Jose and each other; I just want to see this application every game, from the first whistle, and we will beat almost anyone in this league.

I worry about the link between defence and attack without Pogba against city. There is simply no one else that performs that role, ability aside. Think we may see us go back to slightly agricultural against them next week with ander in for him (can't see Jose starting mctom) . I just want to see fight and drive from the boys and anythings possible. It doesn't change that it's still a game we need to win. I just reckon Jose might take the approach that if we draw we still have half a chance of the title, but if we lose its pretty much impossible.

What did everyone make of Pogbas red card. Personally I can totally understand why it was given but I think a yellow would have been fair. He's going to be a colossal loss for us but we'll hopefully rattle city and pep.

He got the ball and his foot landed on Belerin who inexplicably crouched into a cricket fielder style fielding position right where Ppgna's side ended.

Very strange challenge the likes of which you do not see very often. I personally would have given a yellow and called it accidental but a little reckless but in fairness to the ref you certainly could not call it a ludicrous decision.

We will miss Pogs against city but that is why we have a big squad.

Called it spot on Dodgy. Very strange from the defender.
Pogba was so hellbent on retaining the ball to maintain another goalscoring chance he ended up overdoing it. The other option would be to just tap the ball and then roll over the defender - basically to dive - which the way things go would probably have ended up in us getting a free kick and belerin getting booked!

One of the easiest reds given imo bad challenge no intent to hurt but a definite red.
