I'd like to see martial rashford and mata as our front 3 tomorrow night. I'd also like to see matic sit this one out with mctominay coming in. Valencia and young should also sit 1 of the next 2 games out. Hope to see players busting a gut to be in the cup final team. Give the manager a dilemma.

Wishful thinking that I think Ken. The manager has his favourites regardless of performance.

Agree2 Disagree2

04 May 2018 05:29:58
I agree with Ken on the attack since Lukaku is a doubt and should be rested for he Cup final.
For the midfield I support Matic resting and it should be a 3 of McTom, Pogba and Herrera (if fit) . Else Fel can stand in for Herrera. This would allow Pogba to show himself as a potential leader running the show.
I also agree that Val and Young should rest to give the other players to show what they can do.
We should not focus on the Cup final since that’s about the only silverware for us. We may not have done fantastic this season but I think we did ok for the season. Next season I will then judge Jose in if he is the right manager for the long term. That said I am satisfied (not happy) with our current season.

Enjoyed the Europa semi-final, same old same old Arsenal.

I do not watch a lot of European football but over 90 minutes I was thoroughly impressed with Atletico right back Thomas Patey-never heard of him before, don't know if that's his usual level of performance but would be great if TFM could be our equivalent. Up and down tat right wing all night, won nearly every tackle. impressive.

It was against Arsenal. Who won't even make top 4 in Premier league hard to judge on that basis.

Possibly true Hendonred, I would be interested if regular watchers of Spanish football had an opinion on Thomas - no offence to Atletico who are a big club but you can imagine a "bigger"one being interested in the lad if this is his usual standard, good fullbacks are thin on the ground.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 May 2018 10:37:37
I thought partey was poor, looked very rash on the ball and panicky at times when under pressure. However I believe he plays in midfield, but he does have the attributes to make a great right back.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I was wondering who on earth this 'Thomas' was. Now I know you mean Thomas Partey it makes sense. Plays all over the pitch but is ridiculously inconsistent and has never been able to nail down a place because of it, so ends up just playing where there is a gap in the team. Is a 1 in 10 player. 1 good game then 9 poor ones usually. Have to admit though, I have never seen him play right back and didn't watch the game last night.}

04 May 2018 11:41:00
As i said first time i'd seen him and thought he was very good. THOMAS on his shirt.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 May 2018 22:12:36
You can keep Griezmann Thomas was superb tonigh a DM playing RB exactly what we lack very mobile and quick and good on the ball.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed0333's Note - I have no idea why Griezman is so highly sought after? I think he’s mediocre at best. That Thomas is a friggin unit he was a colossus in the first leg also.

03 May 2018 23:34:33
Griezmann is quality. Where would Atletico be without him?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed0333's Note - who knows mate I’m not mystic meg. I suppose we’ll find out next season

04 May 2018 08:54:47
didnt see the first leg and I don't watch a lot of European football but the lad Thomas was excellent over 90 minutes. can't say i'd heard of him before.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 May 2018 10:06:31
Must admit Greizmann does not look like a 100m player and that is based on his performances. He can however finish and assist but imo doesn't bring as much to the team as others in the same price bracket.

Agree1 Disagree0

04 May 2018 11:37:21
Im not saying I think Griezmann is not worth the money but do we need another forward. i'm am sure he would improve our team but we are desperate for CMs and Full backs. I would rather improve greatly in those positions rather than add another big name forward for the sake of it.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 May 2018 11:44:24
As I don't see a lot of European football I look forward to the big games but i'm disappointed in Griezman. he's got something for sure but never seen him be brilliant - but i'm juding him on 3 games a season. Costa was a handful again.

Only seen Dyabla 4-5 times and never saw more than a 7/ 10 performance . so I wat do I know about European football.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed004's Note - I think Griezman and Dybala are both top players. It's a shame both play in such defensive sides. If I was to chose one though it would probably be Dybala}

03 May 2018 10:31:59
With reports coming out that Eric Bailly has been suffering from an illness, I was wondering if any of the Eds would know if this a solvable condition or something that be a constant issue?
thanks in advance.

He missed the awards ceremony because he had to go to the dentist. Could be something to do with that.

03 May 2018 16:05:56
Jose saying he is favouring the other centre-backs (Jones, Smalling, Lindelof and Rojo) as they have world cup commitments whereas Bailly does not as did not qualify. Have not seen Rojo, so not sure how that pans out, but still rather odd. Personally would prefer Jose focussed on assembling a team that will win the FA Cup, not worry about the form of players going to Russia.

That comment from him didn’t make sense, why is Sanchez playing every game?

One player that could fill the wing poaition is Leon Bailey. He has fantastic dribbling skills, very direct and aggressive, ultra quick and can hit them with both feet.
If mourinho is insisting on selling Marital, the Leon Bailey is the player to replace him.

03 May 2018 10:34:33
There have suggestions that Demitri Mitchell could fill the left back or wing back positions but I hope he gets his chance soon so we can see if he really has the goods to move up to this stage or if we need to look further afield.

03 May 2018 10:38:54
Would love to see him at utd, but have seen reports saying City are in for him.

03 May 2018 12:21:43
How has Mitchell done up in Scotland this year?

Agree0 Disagree0

03 May 2018 12:45:22
He was doing really well, winning several man of the match awards until he got injured. Showed good speed, movement and crossing, but need to temper this against the low standard of the league. Deffenitely has potential, but the EPL is a whole other level.

Agree1 Disagree0

03 May 2018 14:11:40
Mitchell won reserve player of the season even though he's been at Hearts since January so he must be doing alright.

Agree2 Disagree0

03 May 2018 15:51:15
My father-in-law is a big Hearts fan. Been very impressed with the lad before he got injured. Mind you, he also thinks the SPL is the best league in the world.

Whenever I've watched leon bailey I've been impressed with him. His dribbling skills are great and he's so direct. The type of player we need but the type of player city and liverpool seem to be accumulating.

04 May 2018 05:10:28
Where have you seen Mourinho ‘insisting’ on selling Martial? Every story I’ve seen says we want to keep him, but that he could be wanting to move for a more pivotal role.

Just read fellaini's comments about the contract negotiations, who does he think he is. You are Marouane Fellaini not Lionel Messi, only mistake the club made was to sign you in the first place.

03 May 2018 08:09:50
Should we not back the manager?
Jose type player.

03 May 2018 09:44:04
So much hate for Fellaini. How obscene are Pogba's wages? Sanchez wages? have they set the world alight? Not really but hey, let's pull the wig down instead.

Agree4 Disagree2

03 May 2018 09:58:41
I'd say get rid too. showing no respect to the club with the comments. And he thinks he's a 50 mill player, probably wants about 250,000 a week 5 year contract too. Jog on to China mate.

Agree2 Disagree2

03 May 2018 12:28:27
What he wants isn't the problem herbie, his comments to media are. His comments indicate he thinks he is some really important player, he isn't. He thinks we need to spend 50mn to replace someone like him, he isn't. Any academy kid has more actual footballing skills than that belgian mophead.

Agree4 Disagree1

03 May 2018 13:50:30
I love how some people have on Fellaini and say he isn't "United Standard" even though he is clearly one of Jose's favourites. Plays all the big games if fit.

Yet they try and justify the potential sale of Martial based on him "not being a Jose type player".

How can you be happy to sell a player who isn't a Jose type player but not want to keep one who clearly is a Jose type player.

I think it just comes down to personal preference and people scrambling around to find justification for it.

They don't like Martial because in their opinion they don't think he works hard enough and he doesn't smile enough.

They don't like Fellaini because they think he is a thug and not suited to United's style.

However, Roy Keane was a different sort of thing so he is United through and through and a legend.

And yes Ronaldo only smiled if he scored and hardly ever tracked back. But that's completely different to Martial not smiling or tracking back.

Hypocrisy is all around us.

Like it shappy.

Agree5 Disagree0

03 May 2018 17:22:48
When you compare Ronaldo with Martial says it all.

Deep down all of you know Fellaini isn't a first team starter but he should be kept as a squad player if Mourinho likes him so much but i reckon he wants a long term contract and big salary that is what's holding him back from signing an extention.

Agree1 Disagree5

03 May 2018 17:36:10
And double standards shappy.

Agree4 Disagree2

03 May 2018 18:35:30
I actually think martial does track back Shappy. Often see him in the lb area and does track his full back quite well. I think his lack of movement of the ball when we have it is the area of his game that let's him down.
His dribbling is better than most players around. His finishing is good normally. But i know it sounds silly but he doesn't miss enough chances simply because he doesn't make enough movement to get more chances. He is static too often when he receives the ball.
He isn't busting a gut to make a difference often enough imo.
He needs games to improve. That's why I wanted to loan him out this season. I think he would have come back closer to the finished article than he is now.
He is not for sale as far as i know he has been offered a new contract. If he moves it won't be for more money is imagine. It will be because he wants to go. If he stays it will be because he wants to fight for his place. He won't be pushed out the door he will only leave if he wants to.

Agree4 Disagree0

If there was a report chart ( records ) available to the public! totaling the attendance, Injury, treatment, duration and cost? i'm pretty sure we would most likely top all of the columns in the report. If so i cannot understand our intrest in Gareth Bale. He is a good player on his day but visits the treatment room far to often to buy him.

We have for too long played like driving our cars with warped brake discs and worn pads.

It won't fix the problem buying good brake pads to work with warped discs.

We need a fresh overhaul in areas and bale does not make the cut unless he is at a bargain price to afford the risk.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

03 May 2018 05:40:11
RDF I am not against Bale being signed but the money involved. It can be put into better signings which will ensure us a longer term success.
I totally agree that he is one the most injury prone player and probably spends more time recuperating than playing on the field. There is no doubt if he is fit he can be a world class player. He will probably join us only if the board sees him as a short term key to our getting back the PL title though I would question if it is worth the money spent.
I’d rather we use the money to beef up key signings in MF and defense since we are quite potent in attack with the likes of Lukaku, Rash, Martial and Sanchez.
Hence for what we spend on Bale, I feel we can buy a couple more good players.

Agree1 Disagree0

03 May 2018 16:59:39
Reddevilfan, nothing wrong with trying to stay on top, is it?
SAF managed that for a very long time in the PL table, now we try to defend the top spots we still have :D

On another note, I believe it is more beneficial to invest in Martial and Rashford instead of buying another star at the end of his prime.

I still remember not understanding why Ronaldo was playing week in week out without really contributing, but the reward for that was marvelous!
