Did anyone else see the ESPN EPL legends programme this morning. It was Roy Keane, f*** he was a player. Can you imagine him playing the other night and Nani costing Utd the match, he would've went after him and his family!!

As for the match today, I thought it was an anti climax. Arsenal were rubbish, they never even competed for the first 92 minutes. Even Wenger looked embarrassed. We almost let them drag us down to their level. The defence played well, all of them including Evra who appears to have reacted positively from some competition. Midfield played well although Cleverley seems to have got Scholesys' 'how to tackle' DVD for his birthday. Going forward we look like we can score at any time, however Valencia seems to have lost his edge, he can no longer even knock the ball past the defender anymore. I would like to see us try for Zaha of Crystal Palace if we're gonna get rid of Nani. I also like to see Anderson play an advanced role, for a fat 'un he sure can shift over 15 yards! He gets us into the opponents final third so much quicker when he plays advanced centre mid.

Any thoughts.

I seen that too mate, he would probably have killed Nani years ago and I think keano has yet to be replaced and he never will be. Legend.

Caolán. {Ed007's Note - He is not only one of my favourite Utd players, he is probably my favourite player ever.}

Agree3 Disagree1

Not only wednesday but can you imagine if Keane had been playing yesterday? He wouldn't have allowed us to sit back and let Arsenal pass the ball around infront of our defence later in the game, he would've nutted Cazorla, made Wilshere look like a 10 year old girl and driven the team forward all while dragging Ramsey around by his pants.

Have we found ourselves a player....in Anderson !

Believable7 Unbelievable1

His 50 yard pass to rafael ( or valencia cant remember ) was executed while he was running at full speed. It was stunning

Anderson has got everything you want in a midfielder, pace, power, vision, creativity, strong in a tackle and he has one thing not to many midfielders in our current side have and that is some natural flair!

Watched the game today . Gotta say we looked comfortable through out!

I think fegie is starting to realise what anderson is about, soon as he came on we had a midfeilder who could take on a man.

Cleverly is still learning but beleive he would benefit of a energetic fletcher along side him.

Rvp and rooney ! 2 words Top draw!

Finally jonny evans and rafael have got to be the most improved players by a mile .

Big V

Believable7 Unbelievable0

I agree with most of what your saying except the final bit johnny evans most improved player you must be having a laugh hes useless to slow always giving away stupid fouls and when someone is running at him he backs into the penalty box in on top of the keeper pure and uter useless along with carrick and cleverley

Agree2 Disagree13

I totally agree Johnny has come on so much it fantastic let's go back to the start of last season he was being bossed about and no he's one of the best center backs in the league and I'm not saying that because he's Irish!

still cleverly looked better than wilshire today i think imo, maybe that will change when wilshire gets match fit, 17 months is a long time, but today clevs was more preductive for his team today.
Valencia was poor today i must say his movement and decsion making was very bad and that chance if he had used his left foot or ran towards the ball it would of been a goal.
Still 3 points and a very decent performance from the lads RVP and Rooney was very gd, Rafa just seems to be getting better every minute he's on the pitch.
But id like to take a second to just talk about Evra, ok he ha his critics and i am one, mainly his form over the last 18 months has been awful but can any1 every question his commitment to the cause, hes a true pro in my eyes and deserves to be put up there with some of the best left backs he have ever had(well for the first 3 years or so) but either way he is a utd player through and through and the next permenant LB has very high standards to hit to be considered up there with the great LB we have had i.e irwin, bryne etc,

I saw stoner say we arent are a top 3 side in the world well jeez we must be close! Played arsenal off the pitch today and sit top of the league! I'm happy with that, on today's game I'm very happy but how different do arsenal look without rvp the men they signed to replace him aren't even half as good! Our midfield dominated today, very happy with the performance, back to the top where we belong!

Caolán.

Believable4 Unbelievable1

Come on' i love your enthusiam but we are not one of the top 3 clubs in the world. A poor Arsenal team made us look better than we have all season. A good performance but lets not get carried away.

Agree3 Disagree3

We are top of the most competitive league in the world! I also said we must be pretty close to it. The attacking football we play no defence in the world could live with us if we were on form.

Caolán.

Agree3 Disagree3

It was my reply. Maybe...but our defence would not stand up to serious scrutiny right now. As I said, I love your enthusiasm but you need a dose of reality. We have the potential to be a very good team but are 2 world class players short right now.

AJH

Agree1 Disagree0

I don't think we are 2 players short I'll be honest we need a solid left back and I maintain Baines is one of the best about and I really believe in ando's ability and think if he stays fit he could be the midfielder we have been looking for.

Caolán.

We've all seen what difference a world class player like rvp can make. What Ferguson needs to do now, is to stop buying potential and go out and buy world class players. CD cm and falcao.

A good win.

When you look at the names on Arsenals team sheet particularly in midfield I thought we might be in for a difficult afternoon. However they lacked a leader , a Petit or Vieira to grab hold of the game. Maybe Wilshire will be it in future but that was a big game that came too early for him.

It was a strange game, we were good in parts and awful in parts. Our game was slow until Anderson came on and in a way both teams played in the same way. Rooney dropped off and marked Arteta which meant we were not outnumbered in midfield. We created more chances and always looked more likely to score but were often slow and cumbersome, still we were far better than a rather dire Arsenal side.

When it came to the penalty, why Rooney? I could have sworn SAF said penalty taking was sorted and it would be RVP.

Rafael seemed to have an excellent game as did RVP but I was disappointed in Valencia today. It was telling when Valencia had to be replaced we only had Nani as an option, that has to be sorted in the next window. I also thought Cleverley was ordinary, he passed the ball safely but no more. Carrick did well in patches but one very sloppy pass in the second half was something we saw a few times from our players. This brings me to my main point. I said earlier Arsenal lacked a leader well it was at moments like that one from Carrick that showed how much we too lacked a leader. After that, several sloppy moments and later in the game when our level dropped off I could hark back to Keane the captain not accepting lazy sloppy play like Carricks. Keane would have got stuck in and it wouldn't happen again and our tailing off at the end would not have happened. After Carrick and several other sloppy moments I watched for our captain, nothing happened, I expected Rio to sort it as a senior player, but nothing. We lack a leader. So both teams without a leader which for me probably explains the nature of the game where no one player stamped their authority on the game.

A good win but just because we are top it doesn't mean we are playing well or that we will be there in May, not without some leadership particularly in the middle of the park.

Not going to completly disect the performance, it was good. We played very well, a few performances were noticeable - Rooney, RVP, Young, Evra and Valencia in particualr were very very good today. Anderson looked dangerous when he came in to the game. Rooney did brilliantly in taking Arteta out of the game. I also think that Rafael/Valencia and Evra/Young up the sides works very well - Young and Evra seem to have an understanding. Obviously I would like an upgrade on Evra, but its not likely right now! Cleverly did well, Carrick I thought was sloppy going forward but made good interceptions. Overall, very good performance, and theres now another Hernandez that I really really like!

AJH he certainly seems to be cutting down on his visits to the Colonels. As for Cleverly I have one question for my fellow United supporters would you rather have him or the excellent Wiltshire who looks a threat all the time and has that little bit of nastiness that Scholes possesses. I AM KLOOT

wilshere is 20, can get past a man, has a great vision, and is very energetic. He just came back from a 114 month spell on the sidelines and was extremly tired. Cleverley was the better player this game, but this is to be expected.

I dont think any reasonable unbiased united supporter would rather have cleverley than wilshere. Wilshere is a dream aquisition. If he can get back to his pre-injury form i think he will go on to be one of the best midfielders of this generation and he might reach scholes' heights.

Mick

Believable3 Unbelievable0

I agree to an extent Mick. If he gets back to that sort of ability he will improve immensely and may reach that sort of class but I think he will end up just short if anything he is far too inconsistent and can be ineffective in games and go missing for periods. Cleverley imo is very over rated I think he is too slow and plays very much like carrick side to side and backwards, when we are on the attack he picks the wrong ball or cant deliver a good ball consistently enough for us. Anderson on the other hand if stays fit is twice the player some people seem to forget there is not much in difference of age but you can tell the difference in class.

Agree2 Disagree1

03 Nov 2012 20:58:27
Utter nonsense, Wilshere is a good player, but vastly overrated. If Cleverly played for Arsenal you would be obsessed by him. Cow in field argument.

Agree2 Disagree4

03 Nov 2012 17:31:32
The first 3-4 games of the season we looked very poor. I did start to think we have no chance of 1st place this season. But my oh my have most of the players clicked up a gear. Carrick is doing great this season, hardly ever praised! Cleverley is getting better but needs to make more forward passes and Anderson is on his road to recovery and maybe we see the Anderson we brought in the first season.

Johnny Evans is really proving himself this season, he is making some great performances right now and even Ferdinand is playing quite good even though age is catching up with the guy.

RVP = Heaven, all I have to say is that Arsenal fans must be so depressed we have their best Striker. Rooney is doing great as well, I hope to see some goals from him soon.

Young needs a proper LB behind him, he is always defending even though Evra is slightly doing better this season. And Valencia just needs to regain his confidence near the box, he seems to never cross and always holds the ball waiting for either Rooney or Rafael.

De Gea is making some great performances as well this season, wasn't really tested today but still the Giroud shot was going in and out of no where De Gea holds onto it.

Now I have saved the best till last Rafael.. He is being immense this season, he has matured a lot since the Olympics and is on his way to being our player of the season. Bright future ahead for the boy.

Nice to see Chelsea draw and finally we are back where we belong in the table. I knew beating Chelsea last week would give them a good knock.

-JakeW

Believable4 Unbelievable1

I was still 50/50 on Rafael in the summer but now I'm convinced, he really has matured as you say. It's great to see him playing so many games already this season. He's been composed but dangerous going forwards and seems to have matured a little defensively

RVP's goals and Rafael's progress have been the 2 biggest bonus's of the season so far IMO

To finish, I'll say thanks to West Ham and Swansea! I had a good feeling about today can't wait for MOTD now

RVP might just win us the league this year... Such a top signing.

Today Rooney marked Arteta out of the game and sacrificed his own game to keep him quiet.

Evra, much improved... if he plays like that every game I'll be happy. If.

Evans is growing into an excellent player.

Ferdy looked completely lost on one Arsenal free kick, just watched the ball bounce right next to him into a dangerous area back stick.

DDG not at fault for the goal, incredible finish, poor sighting.

Rafael becoming one of the best right backs in world football, can only think of Larm who is definitely better? Who else?

Young steady, but better on the left than Nani.

Clevs and Carrick protected the back four, pretty much all they were asked to do?

Ando looks much improved, keep working lad!

Very pleasing victory against a top 5 team.

DodgyBanter

Believable4 Unbelievable1

Sagna is more consistant than Rafael, although the latter, if he keeps his form, will be a much better player. Piszczek and alves are also superior atm.

Evans is the heir of ferdinand. they are just so alike with their calm approach, ball skills, passing and cleverl positioning.

I dont rate young and i think he is a squad player at bst. Pointless signing. Thinking we could have got shaqiri at the same price...

Cleverley is improving his tackling massivly, but he needs to get involved more, learn how to dominate the game from midfield with his passing. He doesnt control the tempo of the game. He could learn a lot from scholes in that aspect.

Mick

Agree2 Disagree3

Sagna is very poor and inconsistent and lacks any creativity or pace for a full back Mick.

Evans is class there is no doubt about it.... Him and Smalling could be or centre backs for years if Phil Jones doesnt sort his rashness out.

Young imo has been the best wiger this season in our team and provides great cover for Evra and is a big threat going forward I think he is very under rated.

Cleverley is very over rated its silly Anderson is twice the player and there almost the same age. He is too slow and not good enough in either box.

I was a little dissapointed with the support at OT today. Maybe i was comparing it with the wonderful support the team received on Wednesday night. I have noticed over the past few seasons a change in the make up of supporters at OT and it is not for the better. This has nothing to do with where you are from or where you are at. Our Irish support and london based supporters have always been amongst our loudest. What i am talking about is the kind of supporters who turn up at OT expecting United to steamroller any team and win easily. We used to pride ourselves as United supporters that we never booed the shirts unlike other teams well now I hear moans and groans and was dismayed in the Spurs game to see our own team being booed off at half time at home. I am sure that some of these persons will pat themselves on the back after our second half performance and think that they in some small way contributed to the teams change in attitude. You simply couldn't be more wrong. The whole word supporter should give you a clue. There is a place for criticism such as here and I am one of the first to say my piece if I think you are not giving everything for the shirt or you are not the quality we deserve. Yes we have been spoiled and seen wonderful players and glorious riches which makes it all the harder to suffer some of the poor performances we have witnessed recently. But one thing is for sure, there is never an excuse to boo the shirt. I appreciate that OT is no longer made for groups of mates to sit together and sing and in some places it is almost discouraged but I ask all of you to do your bit and make some noise. Those of you who were at the second half against Spurs will know exactly what I mean about the difference it made when we got behind the team. I AM KLOOT

If he was Spanish everyone would love him and rate him up there with Pique.

Once again following on from Wednesday an excellent team performance though a little wasteful and we should have won by a far larger score. I thought Carrick gave a master class in the first half in breaking a game up and starting a counter attack. Still massively under appreciated by United supporters as much so as Rooney is over appreciated. Some sloppy passing and bad decisions But hey he is English so lets talk about him as world class. I thought the brand was given a lesson today by Wiltshire what i would give to see him in a United shirt pure class. Right hand side of the team were magnificent and caused Arsenal problems all day. Good to see mad Paddy get a goal even if once again he is still slack in defence. Ashley Young you frustrate me so much, stop looking to go over at every opportunity. RVP you are just a joy to behold and it must hurt every gunner to their very soul to see him in our shirt playing the way he is playing. We have got to be so happy to have played Chelsea away and Arsenal at home and come out with 6 points. Surely RVP proves the point if you buy world class you get world class. Ando you are on the right path just keep going and don't stop when you see the colonel and buy a family sized bucket. What I was happiest about today was our desire to get forward and see Tony V go past a defender. We seemed so much more possitive than in recent games. I AM KLOOT

I haven't a clue what some people are talking about on here.

Valencia got by his man on numerous occasions, with the three nutmegs being the most notable.

Cleverley had a blinder.

Rooney played brilliantly.

The game was so one sided that 2-1 almost seems unfair.

MPez

Believable5 Unbelievable4

Rooney - Brilliant.. Next joke. Cleverley - Blinder.. Are you blind? Valencia - Got by his man but couldn't deliver at all. Anderson looked far superior to Cleverley in the last two performances he speeds up the play and links up great with some smashing vision in the attacking part of the game where Cleverley is slow and plays like Carrick side to side and always fluffs his lines when on the attack. Rooney gave the ball away numerous times with unneeded flicks etc.... I thought Evra had a blinder for once and I thought Evans was class.

Believable7 Unbelievable2

Maybe because ando is never fit!!

Agree5 Disagree3

Ando is doing well, he is building fitness to level it should be. He played midweek and couldn't have played again from start.

Clevs and Carrick we're instructed to hold central mid and get the ball out wide to attack on wings. Particularly to the right, and this was an effective tactic. Clevs played very well, as did Rooney and Carrick... You can tell this by how quiet Arteta, Cazorla, Ramsey and Wilshire were.... Then the ball was switched side to side to put the wide men in space against weak Arsenal full backs.

Well i thought we played really well today yes we should of scored more goals today but on the whole i thought it was a very good performance and we looked solid for a change, i get the feeling that some team is gonna get a hiding from us soon. Also i thought Anderson was very good when he came on and if he can keep playing to those levels our midfield will be fine. Lastly i thought Rooney was immense today and young Raph is also playing very well but for me only bad point today was valencia again to often he has the beating of his man but then just stands there dithering on the ball until everyone is back in position.

Best full game performance so far this season, just need to take the chances and start to bury teams when we are on top. I know some of our players can be up and down but Rafael is starting to look the real deal.

He was caught out by Ramsey and we should have been punished. Young gave Ev a lot of protection today and the one time Young gets injured and taken out of the play Ev was found wanting. He wasn't good today, just not as bad as usual. Not sure who abuses him though.

Wilshere deserved to go and before they mention cleverley he made 2 late challenges where as Wilshere made 3.. if cleverley had stayed on and made another foul he would have gone.

No arsenal fans can complain about the result, out classed...AGAIN

Believable3 Unbelievable1

You can't be too surprised mate, they also think they have the best back 4 in the league. I think your wingers may have them rethinking that. Vermalean tee'd up RVP perfectly as well didn't he.

Probably the easiest game we will have this season. Arsenal are a very poor side. Just two shots on target and one of them was the last kick of the game. Two disallowed goals, a missed penalty, a missed tap in by Valencia. It could and should have been many more. Wilshere to be fair should have got three yellow cards and should have walked earlier. Cleverley was lucky to stay on the pitch too, but how could the ref give Wilshere a squeeze and then not do the same for Cleverley. Have to say Cleverley had a good game, but it was the right decision to take him off as he would have got another yellow sooner or later. I think all had a good game today, played well as a team. I am a little p1ssed off we are not finishing teams off as we could have done it at Chelsea and today, but chose to slow the game down and pass it backwards. So an easy game and I expect we will do the same at their ground when we play them next year.

Sydney!

Believable2 Unbelievable2

I agree, missing a penalty and an open goal is not something we want to get in the habit of. Despite being top scorers, we should have scored so many more goals this season and need to be more clinical. As for Cleverley, really? A few players caught my eye today but he wasn't one of them.

AJH

Agree1 Disagree1

Cleverley never put a foot wrong in the whole game. He tidied up after a few United players today. Maybe you need your eyes tested AJH? He wasn't MOTM by a long shot, but he had a good game today.

I'm clearly missing something. I haven't problem with Cleverley but don't see what others do - can't say I've ever seem him play a blinder. Hey hp, Percy loves Nani so I guess we all see different things.

We shud of scored plenty today, we have got thru the tough games and now we have the lower sides although away. We should have a good Nov and Dec. liverpool paid 15 mil for a player much less effective than Clevers, he may not be Scholes repleacement, but he is a very good squad player for us.

No name, completely agree cleverly is a squad player and not the missing piece of our midfield puzzle.

James

Agreed. Fix his diet and we have ourselves a world class Brazilian.
Has potential to be better than Ramires.

Agree6 Disagree3

A midfield 3 of Fletcher or Carrick sitting behind both Anderson and Cleverly could be strong til the end of the season IMO. Ando to run the ball forward, Clevs to linkup the midfield with the strikeforce and Fletcher/Carrick to cover the defence and play percentage football. Only problem then is we would have to shift Rooney around somehow, perhaps have him and Kagawa playing off RVP with the full backs providing width

He really needs to up his game, rafael looks better than him going forward.

JK92

Agree4 Disagree0

Can't understand why he has stopped whipping balls in early, with Rooney and R-RVP in the middle it must be a good tactic.

Play the cross into the right area and put the challenge in the strikers to make the right runs... Eg get across front of first defender.

I find Tony V equally as frustrating as Nani, it is a luxury to have a player stand so wide as he does, it leaves us open to fast counters. When he is given the ball in acres if space he has to do more when one on one. That said, he had a reasonable game today from what I saw (second half), but Nani looked more dangerous during his cameo on the right.

Valencia has dribbled past santos exactly four times. He has the highest dribbling average in the team ( 3 dribbles per game ) .

Velencia this season would struggle to destroy one of Anderson's cheese burgers...

he should be playing because in his last game he was mom (against a strong chelsea mid 3) and everytime he has played this season he has offered something we lack and need in the middle..
