i see the council house had almost as many empty seats as full ones yet their claiming a sell out. Are they for real? Also anyone else think johnson dived for the pen? Looked like he stuck his leg out to catch the trailing leg.

seeing as we're talking left footed wingers how about jarvis from wolves? Good crosser, decent engine, can only improve, wouldn't cost the earth, would be happy with squad rotation. Of course certain people on here will reject it cos he's not got an exotic name.

What did Fergie say that wasn't true? He's absolutely correct. Not arrogant, just better. A 62 year old doesn't act like a child. I will say it again: Liverpool fans, players and managers over the years have been obsessed with Manchester United and still are. You always raise your game for United, but draw at home to Swansea, Stoke and Sunderland etc. Forget about anything to do with United Tel. Liverpool will NEVER get back to where they were unless they drop this fascination with beating United.

Just watching 'All The Goals - Ronaldo' on MUTV. Wow that team of 2007/2008 was something special. The best United team I've seen in my lifetime.

See you boys have had a little discussion on who should be the next England captain. Sorry to break it to you's but Steven Gerrard will captain England at the Euro's.
You mightn't like it,as a Liverpool fan i'd prefer if he had the summer off and recreate for our march on the champions league.
I've read off someone that they should nominate someone who's young enough to be captain so they can skipper the side upto the 2018 World Cup. Just a heads up but I doubt very much if Fabio really care's what happens with the national team after he gets off.
Personally if Gerrard is fit,he goes,he's the captain. He knows how to deal with the media as well if not better then anyone else who'll be available for the job. I read that he's notoriously bad playing for England. What a one eyed ejut who wrote that, granted he's not been as spectacular for England as Liverpool, but he's hardly been picked for the same position more then 3 times on the bounce before being moved to allow Lampard to play in the position Gerrard favours the most. His versatility has hamstrung him being bounced around the midfield.
He's got a big tourney left in him on doubt about that, and if he's picked with Parker and another depending on the formation, and allowed to play a more attacking role from the middle he'll be massive if England are to go far in it.
Phil Jones for Vice captain, very good player now, gonna be a top,top player, the word world-class is banded about to often in football,as in De Gae and world-class being mentioned in the sasame sentence, except on a Utd banter page that is. But Jones could go on to become world-class player. He could do a lot a lot worse then learning a thing or 2 about international captaincy off Steven Gerrard,a lot lot worse.
It could be John Terry for fecks sake. So get your head round it,Gerrard willl be the skipper at the Euro's lad's and lasses.

I CANNOT BELIEVE WHAT I HAVE JUST READ ABOUT FERGIE!

His arrogance is unsurpassed.

“I said it to the directors 15 years ago, maybe more than 15 years ago: You have to remember that the most important person at Manchester United is the manager," said the Scot.

“The minute a footballer becomes more important than the manager, your club is dead - the history of this club goes down the drain.

“I am the most important man at Manchester United. It has to be that way.”

He also believes no other manager will repeat his feat of managing such a huge club as United for 25 years.

“I don’t think anyone else will,” he told Sky Sports News. “I’m a phenomenon.

How can ANYONE be so arrogant to think they are a phenomenon, what tablets is he taking ?? He is loosing his marbles Im afraid, and this time hes gone too far.

NO-ONE IS BIGGER THAN ANY CLUB AND THE SUPPORTERS ARE FAR MORE IMPORTANT THAN THE MANAGER...FACT!

His time is over.....cue tumbleweed.......

I'm interested to know you guys opinions on how we will shape up next season, i.e. formation. So you think it will be 4-4-2 like now, or a proper 4-4-1 with an AM being brought in with Rooney up top?

I say this because i think that this was the plan for this year, if we had signed Sneijder/Nasri/Ozil they would of played in the whole as an AM with freedom to roam like Rooney does.

This could be the case next season if we find someone suitable, and that is where i believe the interest in Gaitan is coming from. For me, there is no point in signing a deep lying creative playmaker for central midfield as they would only take Cleverly's role. We couldn't have someone like Cleverly and Modric playing alongside eachother (as we saw earlier in the season with Anderson and Cleverly).

So we have to have a playmaker in midfield (Cleverly) paired with a combatative player (i.e. Carrick, Pogba, Fletcher). To get more creativity we must look to the wings and play with an free roaming AM playing off of a striker. I think that this player would have to not play every match - Welbeck, Hernandez etc will get plenty of games. So the player we got in would have to be able to play on a wing or something - be a bit versatile. Gaitan is the man for me if we can get a good deal.

Therefore next season i think we could see a midfield /forward line of:

Valencia __ Cleverly__Carrick__Nani

_____________ Gaitan

_____________ Rooney

This would be a major deal i feel so there would be little spent elsewhere. Certainly there would be no striker come in (there would be no need) - maybe Berbatov gets a new deal and promote Keane/King to make up the numbers.

One young defender i think would come in:

Fofana or Clyne - i think we need fullback cover.

So my summer would see a slight shift in the way we play and the two signings of:

Nicolas Gaitan - £25,000,000
Nathaniel Clyne - FREE

I believe that if a game is cancelled due to snow, then for the rematch, only players who would have been able to play originally should be allowed to play. (No returnee ACoN players or injured players)

I thought I'd give my input on who the England captain should be.

I see a lot of people talking about the future, and whether they'll be around in 3/4 years but to me the captain has to do the job for the time he has the arm band instead of thinking about who it will be in the future.

I don't think it's much of a hard choice to be honest, Gerrard should get it, Okay so he's lost his legs a bit compared to how he used to be but at the end of the day he always does well for England and he knows how to captain a side. Liverpool hate aside he's a top player and a top captain.

Vice Captain? well there's plenty of choices players like Lampard, Barry, Cole, etc. have to be considered for their experience but this is where I would give the role to a younger lad. if Phil Jones is now a regular then I'd give him the vice captains role although if he's not then it has to go to Wilshere. I also think that Sturridge would make a good captain but by the same token I don't think Strikers make the best captains.

So I'll go for;

captain; Gerrard
V Captain; Jones or Wilshere if we're looking at giving them experience or Barry/Parker/Lampard/Cole if we're looking for the existing experience.

The Moon.

I know he's been mentioned before but didn't realise how good he was until i watched first half of Nuremberg - Dortmund and Kagawa was as good as anyone I've seen in the middle this season. Dropped deep/ attacked / didnt see him give the ball away. Exactly what we need. Shirt sales would be a bonus too.
If he were say European or Brazilian, from what I briefly saw people would be putting him in the silly 35/40mill plus bracket. At 22ish if we were to get him for no more than 20mill, I think that would be a good buy.
Just my thoughts. Hopefully the rumours that we are seriously in for him are true.

good to see sir alex backing de gea,he knew the lad would make mistakes, what keeper doesnt?he can see like the majority of fans who know their football,de gea will be one of the best in 3 or 4 years, until then expect a few more mistakes,i honestly cant believe some people thought he wouldnt make any and would be some sort of super keeper who was unbeatable, some people need to get real,i can count 2 maybe 3 games where his mistakes have cost us(blackburn, liverpool cup and basel)but thats it,when you compare that to the saves hes made that have won us points,i think the lad has done well for a 20 year old who struggles with english in his 1st season in the rough and tumble of the premier league

phil"

Yes, but the mistakes in the Basel and Liverpool games cost us 2 trophies. So it's not just a matter of dropping a few points is it. How stupid can you be to say it's ok that he cost us a few games because he saved some for us too!? Look at the games he cost us, look at the games he won us.
If he's going to be the keeper we need in 3-4 years than why play him in games where we run the risk of being dumped out when he's clearly not settled yet.

Premier league game shouldn't be victim of the weather - snow will have cleared by early mornin and they've plenty of time to sweep up - pitch should be playable due to undersoil heating - authorities claim to be sorted in terms of dealing with snow so transport etc should be ok - only danger I can see is Chelsea pulling a health and safety number on us - think back not so long ago and you'll see they have previous for this ( though last time admittedly I think it helped us aswell with the injury situ we were in)

I see people are talking potential England captains.

For me there are only 3 current candidates:

Joe Hart, calm character, despite being young has plenty of experience and will still be in the team for the next tournament. But i've never really been a fan of a keeper as captain but there is plenty of precedent, Schmeichal, van der Saar, Kahn, Zoff etc.

Scott Parker: Another calm personality, does well by example and should be a key part of the team. Probably wont be in the team by the next tournament though so would be a short term option.

Jack Wilshire: Now i know he's currently injured and may not make the competition, but he's my preferred choice. Really and realistically i think we should write off this summer and use the chance to plan for the world cup, so i'd make Jack permanaent captain with Scott as vice captain so that if Jack doesn't make it well we have the long term appointment made with a short term fix for the summer.

To be honest this is the best thing that could have happened because we'll never win anything with Terry in the team, he's such a limited player yet people loved him cos he'd chuck his head in stupid places.

I'd sling out all the following from the squad and plan for the World Cup, Terry, Cole, Lampard, Gerrard, Ferdinad, all are too old and wont be at the world cup or at least i hope not.

I can't see this happening as we're too cautious as a national team.

What will happen is Gerrard will get the job as captain, and he'll do the same splendid job as 2010. Rubbish. He's just not a leader and not good enough at international level to be a captain.

Title run in here guys....can we quit with the LFC Love-in thats going on.....its alarming. Gerrard is well past it BTW...so is KK who is getting nicely ruffled with PL games.

Lets re-focus and jog -on...games on this weekend and we are going to Stuff Chelski coz Roo will be back and Terry will be squirming.

That guy has the biggest ego ever so to get stripped of the captaincy will hurt his ego niceley then we can just add to that.

I'm going 1-3....nice tasty away result and goals for us.

20.........can you smell it????
