I played at St George’s Park today and the next pitch to us straight after our game was Derby v United U23’s. I’m afraid our next batch don’t look that impressive. Riley looked decent and o’hara was solid but only one player apart from those two stood out and that was Chong. The kid looks a real player, brave, direct and loves to beat a player and he certainly looks like he’ll make it. Sadly the rest look average and it’s no wonder they’re struggling this year. You just can’t see many getting into the first team at all.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

04 Feb 2018 21:10:43
There are a few talented lads in that Team but Chong definitely the best of the lot. Not sure you can judge them on one game.

Agree2 Disagree4

05 Feb 2018 00:49:14
No it’s unfair to judge on one game granted but they’re at the bottom of the league, haven’t won at home all season and I’m afraid you can see why. Lack of ideas and disruption to their team through injuries may account for some of it but it was the basics that they didn’t seem
To possess. Some awful First touches, poor decision making, aimless punts, a lack of pace through the side, and beaten far too easily in the tackle. They also played against ten men for a while and derby still looked more likely to score.

05 Feb 2018 00:50:40
Your right on Chong. You’ve got to hope him and Gomes make it. I spoke to the United match analysis chap and he said greenwood in the under 18’s is one to watch.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Feb 2018 20:34:15
I love Juan Mata. He may not be the best player we have and he may be small in stature but he is a giant of a man. He has led the way with the 1% charity donation initiative and his comments about Munich show he is intelligent and compassionate. We can debate his worth as a player but he is a great man.

Believable13 Unbelievable1

04 Feb 2018 20:52:43
Absolute gent and delighted he signed a new contract. I personally think he is very underrated and we are a better team with him in. Great vision just lacks pace and strength. He has truly bought into the ethos and history of our club and understands what it means to play for united. He is a great man.

Your giving out a whole lotta love today Tony❤.

Agree1 Disagree0

04 Feb 2018 21:36:46
The guy is class personified.

Agree1 Disagree0

04 Feb 2018 21:48:49
The site was really laggy for me and I accidentally hit thumbs down, please ignore this.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Feb 2018 23:00:13
Really is a top guy. In a sport full of takers he is a man that stands head and shoulders above most and is always wanting to give something back.
A true role model for younger players to follow.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Feb 2018 01:55:59
I bet there are a lot out there that give and we don't know about. I really like Mata as well from what I know about him, smart, interesting, friendly guy.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Feb 2018 02:52:46
He's under rated, just like Carrick 😈.

Agree1 Disagree0

05 Feb 2018 07:59:08
We look better with him in the team in my opinion, it's just who do you drop - so many attacking options at the moment.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Feb 2018 11:00:09
Haha dodgy 😂. Agree 12days I think we aren’t getting the most out of our attacking options at the moment. You look on paper at Lukaku, Alexis, martial, rashford, mata, Lingard and you can even throw pogba in there. That is a great depth although I still think we lack a creative 10 or a player that can put a good delivery in the box. Could that be pereira? Whether it’s Jose’s style I’m not sure but we need to be getting the players we have firing and playing to their full potential. We have the quality there.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Feb 2018 15:23:57
He has the best 1st touch in the league. Great ball in for the 1st goal and his control for the 2nd goal on Saturday was superb, high ball coming over his shoulder and he killed it. Lingard seems to have learned from him with his constant movement.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Feb 2018 19:03:30
You’ve got to love Kane. He misses a penalty and let’s be honest it wasn’t great, but in the last minute with probably the last kick of the game he grabs the ball and is prepared to take the next one. He has bottle and confidence, and his English.

Such a sha, e we lost to Spurs, if we had won or even drawn I think we would have guaranteed top 4 and could have concentrated on the Cups. Hey ho.

Believable4 Unbelievable1

04 Feb 2018 19:42:26
Great attitude and character he possess.
Best result for us imo.
Good game to watch in some ways but the defending by both teams was awful.
75m for a slow and ponderous defender. Vvd great in the air very good on the ball but positionally awful.

Agree4 Disagree1

04 Feb 2018 19:45:55
If the keeper had went either way, everyone would have said it was a good penalty. Keeper did well. Natural instinct to pick a side and dive. Takes balls to wait the striker out and stand your ground.

Agree5 Disagree0

04 Feb 2018 19:49:38
I thought Kane was awful today and clear dive, but thank goodness he put the second pen away! Great result for us.

Agree2 Disagree2

04 Feb 2018 19:52:29
Can’t think of many players with the bottle and self belief to step up and take that second penalty. And he slotted it with such composure. Only the top players have that mentality and he is one of them. I he can stay fit and does not got abroad he will smash shearer’s record. Amazing player and would love to see him in a united shirt one day.

Agree3 Disagree1

04 Feb 2018 20:35:19
Me too Park. Talent is one thing, character is another entirely.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Feb 2018 20:51:01
We lack that character in our team AJH. Sanchez certainly brings in and Zlatan used to but I can’t see anyone else in our team that possesses that character. Back in the day we had 4-5 players that had that composure and mentality.

Agree1 Disagree0

04 Feb 2018 21:04:51
Does he not get a goal bonus?

Agree2 Disagree0

04 Feb 2018 21:23:16
As I striker they were the easiest goals I ever scored.
As for showing bottle he obviously wanted to score to make amends for his first miss.
Before someone says it that I never took one in the last minute at the kop end at 1-2 down that is very true however if he declined and someone else took then no more pens for him and what’s the worst that can happen he misses again? So what very few players have a perfect record with penalties so it’s expected.

Agree1 Disagree2

04 Feb 2018 18:27:50
I know it's earlier but I presume we will be looking for a CB in the summer, i think we could do worse than trying to get Toby A from spurs, quality defender and not long left on his contract i think plus it would really annoy the hell out of my mate if we took another one of their best players, win win 😁 Liverpool/ spurs great game.

Believable2 Unbelievable3

04 Feb 2018 18:35:33
Top top player I would say best cb in the league. Would be brilliant next to bailly. Heard that he will sign a new contract at spurs so can’t see it myself.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Feb 2018 20:19:37
Do we need another one?
Bailly, Lindelof, Jones, Rojo, Smalling an Tuanzebe. Surely we'd need one or two of those to leave first. Ease the wage bill if nothing else.

Agree2 Disagree0

04 Feb 2018 20:36:09
Mort, it they’re all rubbish, we need 4 new world class CBs.

Agree1 Disagree1

04 Feb 2018 22:07:02
Don’t think Baillys rubbish actually think he’s a very good defender just seems to be made of glass, i also think Lindelof will come good.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Feb 2018 22:58:12
Bailly last season was the best cb in the leaague!

Agree0 Disagree1

04 Feb 2018 23:14:37
I would say bailly is very good just injury prone and have hopes for Lindelof too. Jones I would keep as a squad player and I love rojo’s passion. Tuanzebe will be a very good player but I think we may need to invest in one more quality cb. Although it is not a priority.

Agree1 Disagree0

04 Feb 2018 18:08:22
Loving victor wanyama channelling michael Essien. Lovely goal and even better it's looking like a draw.

Believable4 Unbelievable1

04 Feb 2018 17:31:16
I like Pep, I think he is a fabulous coach and I would have welcomed him at United. I
Ike Klopp too, he wears his emotions on his sleeve but his teams are exciting and I’d have welcomed him too. I like Pochetino, he may not have won anything yet but it’s just a matter of time. Now I’m not saying I would swap Jose for any of them but I see them getting slagged off regularly. Whilst they may be Managers of our competitors I don’t see the need to diss them, I think they are all top class.

Believable8 Unbelievable10

04 Feb 2018 17:46:10

Agree2 Disagree1

04 Feb 2018 19:16:16
Think someone may have got a little stiffy watching Klopp celebrating the (not) winner at the end, with all of his beautiful emotion, eh AJH? 😜.

Agree5 Disagree3

04 Feb 2018 19:32:34
This was before his Mourinhoesque sprint down the line. I’m just fed up of people like being slagged off because they are not United. We have some of the best Managers / coaches in the world in the EL, we should celebrate them. We just need Rodgers back in the EPL 😳.

Agree3 Disagree3

04 Feb 2018 19:36:16
I'll be honest and take all bias out of my opinion.
Klopp is chimp. Going around beating his chest like a mad ape. Saying top 4 is success for Liverpool. He is an embarrassment to lfc in my opinion i hope he stays there for years they will never win the league under him.
He does have Liverpool ex using you g forward but there are 2 sides to the game and he is there about 2 1/ 2 years and spent huge money and to me they don't look close to winning anything.

Agree2 Disagree4

04 Feb 2018 19:43:50
# exciting going forward.

Agree0 Disagree1

04 Feb 2018 20:13:43
Harsh ken. Klopp is a great coach, he may be over expressive but he plays exciting entertaining football. I like him.

Agree6 Disagree3

04 Feb 2018 20:22:22
Klopps a clown. And Pep's a fraud. Great coach how? My keepers crap buy me another. No he's crap as well buy me another. My defence are all injury prone buy me another. What coaching has he done.

Agree2 Disagree5

04 Feb 2018 20:31:56
I agree with Ken there, the draw against West Brom was the start of his clown acting for me. that was embarrassing.

Agree2 Disagree2

04 Feb 2018 20:39:49
Come on Mort, take off your United glasses. Look at Sterling, Walker, Delph even, look at the quality of football, it’s a level we have rarely seen. Klopp plays great football, Liverool gong forward are a joy to watch. To dismiss them so easily is just partisan.

Agree3 Disagree2

04 Feb 2018 23:06:26
Ahh playing great football means defence and attack klopp has shown he can't coach his team to defend despite spending 5 times what jose has spent on defence.
He has embarrassed himself and the club with his tapping up he is a liability and a poor coach imo.
Please keep him there he will continue to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory as long as he stays and surely that's what we all want to see😂.

Agree1 Disagree0

05 Feb 2018 04:08:03
Ken, think your talking out the hole in yer arse.
VVD 75mil, Roberson 10 mil. Matip free. That’s all he’s spent on defenders. Remind me how much Bailly and Lindelof cost again? Would bet my house, wife and kids that it wasn’t a 5th of 85mill. 😂😂.

Agree1 Disagree0

05 Feb 2018 08:11:36
Don't forget klavan and karius JC. Fact is you have spent more on defence than United. Bailly and Lindelof amount to the same you spent on VVD. work that one out 😂.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Feb 2018 08:46:24
Sorry, forgot Klavan and Karius not a defender but let’s add him to the equation as well. 10 mil for them both. Still not 5 times the cost of jose’s buys now is it? Ken either massively over exaggerated or just not very good at maths🤔😂.

Agree1 Disagree0

05 Feb 2018 09:25:03
Laporte 55mil. Vvd 85mil. Enough said on that.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Feb 2018 17:00:50
I don't rate Pep. He just inherits good squads an throws money at them. Sterling always had talent. Just need consistency.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Feb 2018 19:08:57
I think the argument is the defence. You have spent more on defence and yet still can't defend.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Feb 2018 15:02:17
So what's peoples thoughts on McTominay? I've seen him. compared online both favourably and unfavorably to Fletcher.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

04 Feb 2018 15:45:34
I like the look of him. He doesn't try to overplay, plays it easy, is positionally sound and seems to have good stamina. I actually think Fletcher was a great player, not exactly at Pogba or Scholes level but was crucial in his prime nonetheless. Comparing Scott to Fletch for me is a compliment to Scott, and he can only improve. Its really weird though, I've seen many prospects praised while they are still playing U18,U19. I don't think I ever heard of Scott until he was in the 1st team. If he can keep playing like this then we'll probably need just one midfield player to replace Fellaini and can focus on strengthening the full back areas.

Agree5 Disagree0

04 Feb 2018 17:27:33
He’s tidy and unassuming, nothing flashy but breaks up lay and keeps it simple. I think if he wants t make it he probably needs to find a niche, some part of the game he can excel at.

Yesterday he was fouled and battered throughout but he bounced up and got on with it. Interesting that even though we used 3 subs he completed the full 90 minutes.

Agree2 Disagree0

04 Feb 2018 18:29:15
I like the look of him - neat and tidy strong in the tackle looks for the ball in and out of possession. Not a showy player at all but could be a key squad player in the future.

Agree1 Disagree0

04 Feb 2018 19:22:13
He's fearless. Not afraid to play his game. Plenty of prospects would have wilted under the pressure of replacing Pogba in an EPL game. I imagine he did exactly what was asked of him, was posituonally astute and is prepared to make plays either driving or passing the ball forward as well as the steady keep possession sideways stuff.

Players like him are priceless in a squad that wants to win things.

Agree1 Disagree0

04 Feb 2018 23:35:45
If he has half the career that Darren had, then he’ll retire a very happy and successful man.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Feb 2018 12:06:33
Not to sound moany tho it will, but Pep not bothering to fill his bench yday rather than call up a youth player, that is so poor, must be so disheartening for the youth coach, squad etc, nothing has been made of it in the public or the media domain but I can see the headlines had Jose done that.
Something Tony touched on earlier but fair play to Jose giving plenty of minutes to academy players, more than any other club in the prem I believe, pretty good considering he was labelled anti youth.

Believable7 Unbelievable1

04 Feb 2018 12:39:56
It's there WRD. I've seen it in the telegraph and others plus G Neville calling it out on sky which is arguably the biggest platform. But I do agree, more should be made of it. It was a slap in the face of younger players.

Agree1 Disagree0

04 Feb 2018 13:18:00
Good, am glad. I think it’s a disgrace tbh and I’m not just saying that cz it’s City but it’s just a total snub to his youth team. I have seen GNev have his say now and have to say I totally agree with him.

Agree3 Disagree0

04 Feb 2018 14:12:32
Awful call no excuses.

Agree2 Disagree0

04 Feb 2018 14:17:43
Have to hand it to Neville, he is usually bang on with most things. Great pundit.

Agree1 Disagree0

04 Feb 2018 15:58:19
Even anti utd Shearer called it out on match of the day. Talking about the youth, does anybody know how tuenzebe got on yesterday for villa? Did he play?

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Feb 2018 16:18:25
He played the last 20 minutes at right back. I didn't see the game but I read a review later on and the general sentiment was that he was solid, did not make any errors and was involved in Villas winning goal. I however hope he plays more as a central defender.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Feb 2018 20:12:59
Crazy thing to do.

Gary Neville said sit on the bench help the kit man how's that going to help an 18 year old if your in the squad it should be with a chance of playing.

04 Feb 2018 07:17:21
Haha yeah. That’s why it’s a nice Sunday afternoon for me 🤣🤣👍. Thanks 🙏.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - welcome mate. Jose certainly hands out the material!}

04 Feb 2018 07:49:23
Well Jose is an old hand in these games. But I must admit he know how to do his job. Whether the team follows or not is another story. Usually the younger ones will want to grow too fast and always spoilt by the financial rewards. But well football is not really what it used to be anymore. I’m still a little old school so won’t say too much before I get shot 😂🤣.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - old school or just old? :-P

04 Feb 2018 08:28:55
Cheers again ed saves me buying a paper again 😃 on the pogba issue I'm glad he was dropped it proved to him and players and fans alike that players have to perform and follow instruction.

He should be no different to any other player .

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - glad to help mate and agreed on Pogba, whether it was a punishment or not, it is good that he was left out after a poor performance.}

04 Feb 2018 09:08:59
Great read ED001.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - cheers MH, there isn't always so much Man Utd stuff to use but it is certainly a full news day for United today!}

04 Feb 2018 12:24:04
Awesome stuff Ed, I love this small summary of all things football. Just one question if you have the time to answer, Clement just said Sanches is way too damaged and I've read posters saying that the Bayern move was probably wrong for him. What do you think is going wrong for him? Is he just not that talented to make the cut or is he playing in the wrong league, both EPL and the Bundesliga?

Thank you,
Raghav.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I don't believe he is good enough. He might well be in the future, but right now he needs to be playing at a lower level. And he needs to get fit as he is overweight and that is not helping.

Thank you for the compliment, by the way, glad you like it.}

04 Feb 2018 14:26:36
Thanks for your reply Ed. I think that's where the coach or even a mentor should step in and talk to these players and get their heads in the right direction. And not just for Sanches, too players make the wrong move and then, possibly, never fulfil their talent.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - agreed.}
