If Jose fails, he has lined uo Woodward as the blame guy for not getting his transfer targets.
With the way we played tonight, Mourinho should hang his head in shame.
Pathetic, whimpering from the manager.
Its as though he has purposefully set out the team to play like that to prove a point to Woodward.
I want an sttacking United. We have a very good team.
Personally i never wantwd Mourinho as the manager. But i supported him.
It looks like along season ahead.

i feel Ed Woodward already has the deal lined up and this is just in front of camera, once the deal is announced then Jose will publically praise Ed.

Fellaini wasn't there. otherwise we would see. Beautyful long ball football. Till the time he is back. we will hear. this is not my team.
The day he renewed Fellaini he went off my eyes. he has no football left.
Only he care for is total defenseman. and long all to any tall wigs.

Our last game of preseason, Bayern's first. I now agree with Jose, we need players. All we have to come back is Lukaku, who can't score without a supply and pogba who is looking at moving. Tonight we didn't even get going against a team just starting back in preseason, they pressed us all over the pitch and we were not able to cope, Sanchez reverted back to his old form when asked to move out wide and Rashford is just not improving. Hopefully we have some first team players coming in this week.

Believable1 Unbelievable4

05 Aug 2018 23:34:25
What first team players you talking about? Lukaku? Lingard? Pogba? Its not the players. Get a modern attacking minded manager in there and you'll see how different we are going to play. But nothing will change unless the economic side of thing start falling off. In all my years that i have been following united's preaseasons in the states i have never seen so many empty seats in their games until now. just saying.

Bayern's first what? It was Bayern's 7th game of pre-season, they played 3 games in the International Cup like we did and they had pretty much a full team out.

Well that was poo, I know we have a lot of players missing but we sit too deep and invite other teams on but don't then break on them quickly we just give the ball away constantly, also I believe perrarai has played ok but I think he would be better playing a bit further forward and have Herrera behind him cutting the oppositions attacks out, and I don't get why darmian is starting before T f m darmian wants out so why play him, I normally wait to a few weeks into the season to see how things are panning out but got to say I'm worried.

I haven't seen any preseason matches and this is the first time I'm seeing us play. And I have to say wow, we are really bad. With nearly everyone improving their squads it's going to be a very long season.
I know it's only preseason and we have a lot of players missing but this team has no soul. Reminds me of the preseason Chelsea had when they just imploded.
We can't put 2 passes together if the other team is pressing and there is no supply for forwards. It's just sad to see this team.

Believable5 Unbelievable3

05 Aug 2018 21:27:30
Did we have a shot on target? I'm honestly asking because i can't recall us having a go to their keeper but hey don't say these things because according to a few here if you talk bad about the team you are being toxic. Oh and its only preseason, somehow they think we are going to play differently next friday. Its like we are going to change manager and miraculously start to play with intention to win. I said sonething similar last game against madrid, we were lucky we won because we didn't control the tempo, we didn't dominate but hey i'm toxic lol. It is going to be a long season indeed. Oh and i do want him out asap, the sooner the better, i still don't understand how this guy managed Real Madrid.

Agree3 Disagree5

05 Aug 2018 21:30:52
No soul no heart no fight
And for the stat boys 0 shots on target, preseason or not it's looking bad, I mean the under 18s would put in a better performance
Sad is what I feel right now.

Agree4 Disagree4

05 Aug 2018 21:45:10
The main problem I think is that there is no intention of pressing the other team. All players are afraid that they'll be caught out of position and just sit back. We reached their box twice in 90 minutes I think and when we lost the ball no one was trying to win it back, instead everyone started jogging back for defending.
I'm not on the Jose out brigade because I know even he can see what is happening and won't just let teams walk all over us in the league. But it definitely won't be fun to watch. Football has changed a lot and hopefully Mourinho will realize in time that he needs to change as well.

Agree2 Disagree0

05 Aug 2018 21:46:47
We have no identity. And that goes beyond the manager. We're ran by an accountant who only cares as long as we're profitable your useless owners who have sucked over a billion pounds out of the club. I'm sure jred will point out what Jose has spent. But contrast that with what city have spent. Imagine the team we could have right now if they were prepared to spend properly.

Agree2 Disagree3

05 Aug 2018 22:05:47
It is going to be a long, Long, LONG. Season.

Agree1 Disagree1

05 Aug 2018 22:26:20
Mort I don't think u can blame the owners in terms of style and identity of the club. That's upto Jose who has always been defensive manager.

Nothing is wrong w/ United or Jose if city wouldn't have exceptional season then u guys might have won the league.

The problem is nowdays footy has changed lots of good team w/ better coaches and well organised teams compare to couple of yrs.

Jose always has played waiting game for opposition to do mistake where he takes full advantage of it. Like against us (LFC) but problem starts when opposition are happy to sit back like (sevilla) where he needs to attack them by pushing your defence 10-15 yard forward.

In recent yrs epl teams are happy to park the bus that's where Jose struggles because he plays deep instead and waits for their mistake instead of pressing/ penetrating them . That's nothing to do w/ owners or board.

Agree4 Disagree3

05 Aug 2018 22:54:40
We've had no identity since Fergie left. He kept the plates spinning to cover the cracks. Moyes and van Gaal weren't attacking style managers either. Who appointed them? Who keeps buying players the managers don't ask for but sell lots of merchandise? A billion pounds taken out the club yet let's keep blaming the managers.

Agree0 Disagree1

05 Aug 2018 23:47:21
Mort we had the same board under fergy .
You might not like it but it's thevmsnager that has changed .
If only we could of got a pep .

Bournemouth play better footy than us, would they like josecasctjere next manager?

Agree1 Disagree0

05 Aug 2018 23:56:29

Imagine if Jose had all our players playing well
Compared to pep who you are still insisting is a fraud. 😅😅😅😅.

Agree1 Disagree0

06 Aug 2018 00:08:00
Well, well, well, what do you know? I'm sure it's Pogba's fault eh Leahy12?

Mort, thus is what I have been screaming at you guys for and many are still blind to it. BTW, the accountant doesn't set the playing parameters, the drills, the style, the football identity. I'd care less about him and focus on the real culprit but oh no! We would rather attack a World Cup winner and a CEO instead of the manager over the football style.

Nice input Kopitef, I couldn't have said it better.

Those saying we don't have an identity because of lack of players Mourinho wants I tell you that regardless of the team Guardiola, Klopp or LVG manage (even a championship team), you see an identity, an intent on playing style and also ubiquity towards the dynamism of the game.

LVG, had a worse team, much worse but we still had an identity, an intent, a certain way of playing. You knew we would play shirt incisive passes, sideways, that we'll dominate possession etc.

As Ed002 explained the toxic pushed out a carefully orchestrated transition by the club and here we are. Still the toxic haven't learnt - blaming everyone else but the perpetrator.

On a final note, with all we know, is it surprising that the two most creative, talented and entertaining players want to leave the team?

Is it so difficult to understand the problem?

Bring Kroos, SMS, Aldeweireld and Willian, Mourinho will still find a boring negative way to play and he'll have the whole world to blame but himself.

But as a lifelong supporter, I'll always be behind the manager regardless of who it is!

Agree1 Disagree1

06 Aug 2018 01:02:11
Was pogba playing yaz.
You blame the manager but your behind him.
I'm not beh8nd the manager I don't sit on the fence.
Jred do you have a thing for pep.
And yaz I didn't mention pogbas name in my post, but you seem to keep bringing him up are you a fan boy of pauls.

Agree0 Disagree1

06 Aug 2018 05:27:10
Well, you seemed to indicate everything is Pogba's fault because he "didn't knuckle down enough for us like he did France"

I tried to explain it to you that when a player has strengths and qualities, the manager tries to make a system that will be in tandem with that. Not put players out of position in an unsuitable system.

Pogba played better for France because his coach gave him a role that suited him not ask him to play defensively in a two-man midfield, end of.

I'm behind the manager doesn't mean I agree with his system or style but it means I'll reluctantly accept his position in the club, won't be toxic, hope for improvements and you won't catch me with a #managerout.

Yes I'm a Pogba "fan boy" because in as much as I love Manchester United, I'm a football lover first, a sort of purist and nothing makes my day like beautiful football. Enthralling, mesmerising football. That's why I don't want us to let go of our flair players - Pogba and Martial are the two first teamers guaranteed to have you on the edge of your seat in excitement and what do we do? Wish for them to be pushed out of the door by a manager not willing to take risks, by a manager that will probably leave in a year and we'll be back to square one trying to get flair players for a new manager.

It sucks innit?

06 Aug 2018 09:35:12

You are very fortunate, yes sir. But you are in Tenerife on vacacion ( i supposed) its not worth 2 hours of your time getting frustrated watching very, i mean very defensive footy play by one of the wealthiest footy clubs in the world. Change the manager, get someone with modern ideas because our current manager has stuck in time. I still don't understand how this guy managed the greatest club in the world ( when it comes to trophies) Real Madrid.

Agree3 Disagree1

05 Aug 2018 17:56:07
Jred I think you'll recall down there I was talking about us and a lack of identity.

This is what identity looks like. Without key components, the team will play in an expected manner.

Yet someone will waltz in here and blame Pogba for our undoing. It seems people just watch the game but have no understanding of it.

Also, do notice how Chelsea was in possession and intent. Once these players get a hang of it, Chelsea will play well (I didn't say they have to win) .

But what do I know about football? We are probably playing badly because Pogba is lazy and uncommitted plus he had the temerity to go for holiday and enjoy himself.

Agree1 Disagree2

05 Aug 2018 18:02:20
City didn't look like they missed a beat just carried on from last season without breaking sweat .

Why should we see him turn Burnley into league champions. Would Jose because I keep reading Jose needs millions and millions to turn man United in to champions .

Why would a top manager go to Burnley.
The problem you have is if you judge pep on what he won achieved and how his teams actually played, your pep is a fraud looks a bit daft.

Agree0 Disagree4

I thought morata was terrible today it's like Chelsea had 10 men.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Aug 2018 21:29:17
Yes because its so tough to win in a one horse league when your managing the horse. Or in a two horse league when you manage one of the horses. With teams packed with top players and good backing. If he's so good where's his champions league win with Bayern? He got lucky getting the Barcelona job when he did and having players like xavi, iniesta and puyol. Then went to a joke of a league and then city where he's had backing any other manager can dream of.

Agree1 Disagree1

05 Aug 2018 21:41:11
Mort, it's an easy cop out to be honest that i have been guilty of myself.

Regardless of how much money players cost, pep still has to get them all singing from the same hymn sheet. All of his teams, all be it the best and with a lot of money, all play high tempo, quality football. To do that consistently regardless of the money available is some doing. We have spent an awful lot of players that have not got anywhere near the heights.

He has done really well with what he already had at city and with what he has bought.

I have my doubts that Jose, if given another 200 million would have us enjoying city style football.

If we were able to replace them it shouldn't be too much of a problem. I think its been quite obvious the board have tried to penny pinch this summer. Sanchez will be like a new signing, Fred looks decent. If we can clear out a few more and bring a couple in I don't think its that bad. As long as replacements are in. I don't see the fuss over martial. And if pogba doesn't want to be here he can go to. can't the point in keeping anyone who doesn't want to be here. We've lost bigger players than those too. But seems some people too eager to panic.

I doubt it. We only have matic, Herrera and alas Fellaini. Even with pogba that's just 4. We were light last season. If pogba leaves he'd have to be replaced. Andy p probably replaces Carrick in the squad.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Aug 2018 17:08:43
If pog wants out n the club can sell they should we've seen in the past how disruptive it can get when jose falls out with people. Personally if pog goes i'm happy with fred i don't think kroos is the answer n it could be a case of trying to move him on if jose leaves n the next manager doesn't want him.

And we know the board want rid of pogba. Who says it will be 2 in midfield. Might be 3. So you'd be happy to go into the season with 2 rookies, a player untried in England, matic who was over used, Herrera and a midfielder who's no good in midfield.

Mort
No but I'm not the manager .
We also know the board have backed the manager.

You say fellaini is no good but obviously the manager thinks he is .
This is Jose team.

Again mort why do the board want rid of pogba?

Ask Ed2.

{Ed002's Note - People seem to be struggling with the concept that players are simply transient and clubs will look to improve each season - so players come and go.}

07 Aug 2018 11:21:19
Nothing to do with the club, entirely of their own making and personality. Martial can’t hack that the manager constantly wants more and adds pressure when he doesn’t put the work in. The least we’d expect playing at a top club like Utd. Maybe he wants to cruise in Italy or Spain? I don’t see a huge queue forming of big clubs for Martial knowing that he is available?

I’ll admit if Pogba leaves I’ll be very disappointed as think he could be a star for us, but don’t see the Martial thing at all.

Charity Shield without United. Hooefully that'll change next year. Good to see that between them, they couldn't fill Wembley.

05 Aug 2018 15:24:58
One of them can't fill their stadium for 90% of their games. No chance of selling out Wembley.

With lots of ITK people saying that there is little noise around our Transfer plans for this week that to get people in if we sell it will make more sense to include players in the transfer. Similar to Sanchez/ Micky in Jan. With that in mind would Pogba for Pjanic appeal to us. Eds saying previously that Pogba being touted.
Also Shaw for Rose.
Any others?

Believable0 Unbelievable5

05 Aug 2018 13:59:32
Shaw for rose? Trading one ashley young backup at club level for an ashely young backup at international level doesn't seem like a priority for me.

Sanchez/ micky was a convenient set of circumstances with sanchez having only 6 months left on his contract.

Much harder to do it for pogba pjanic.

Smalling and Jones for Maguire 😆😆.

Well if this week is a quiet one then it's going to be a long long season.

I can't help feeling that this will be JM last with us.

He has never truly looked settled in the north.

Question is, who next after him?

I don't want panic buys either. Use the youth. True football fans will be more patient with this side if we were developing the exciting talent with in the club.

Anyways. roll on Friday. I miss the football.

Believable4 Unbelievable0

05 Aug 2018 12:15:04
I think as a club the most important thing we could do as a club is appoint someone who gets it. Use the youth like you say, Jose has already alluded to the them, but that they’re so young. There’s a big talent pool, I’d love José to give us 2 more years, hopefully win a trophy or two then maybe see how Carrick is doing coaching wise etc.
Whilst it doesn’t look like it, there’s a hell of a lot to be positive about for the future.

Although it’s pre season we have seen the style of football Pep, Poch, Klopp, Sarri and Emery will employ attacking football then there is us with Jose. Does anyone actually believe we will not see the same dire football Jose has given us these past two seasons this year too. I think this is going to be on part with his last season at chelsea.

Agree3 Disagree3

05 Aug 2018 13:00:32
Agreed Jamie. Unfortunately, we'll play the same style of football, with a no lose attitude at the expense of everything.
All other managers you mentioned will play attacking football. Liverpool have made the best signings that improve their weaknesses. City are City, head and shoulders above us. Leaves arsenal, chelsea and Spurs. Arsenal looking good in preseason and Chelsea have made a couple of good signings. Spurs are the only ones who have not invested yet.
I think we're 4th at best, and if we sell Pogba and Martial with not suitable replacements, then we won't make top 4.

05 Aug 2018 13:39:54
Papers were all claiming Zidane is lined up to take over as and when Mourinho leaves. Also read today that Gerrard would only be interested in Liverpool, Man Utd and Arsenal if he does well at Rangers, would be an odd one for sure.

I personally would go all in for Poch, young and seems to get the best out of his players and develops youth well.

05 Aug 2018 13:46:16
I would take Zidane in a flash. He hasn't done too bad has he?

{Ed002's Note - ZZ has no interest in coaching this season at all and may well look to the option of becoming a Sporting Director/Director of Football. Sam Allardyce will be available to see the season out if needs be.}

Ed, think the reports, including the BBC, where about United preparing for him taking over next season should Mourinho leave.

I wonder if Giggs might be asked as an interim.

This mornings papers, TheMirror has us signing Alderwereld, The Sun has us in a panic about Yerri Mina and the Express has a last bid for Maguire. I would say you couldn't make it up but as a sports journalist you clearly can.

{Ed001's Note - there was another paper saying you had agreed personal terms with Mina as well.}

I really hope so Ed. Liverpool looking strong this time around, fancy your chances this season? Be yourselves and City imo.

I wouldn't say anything if the press mentioned how longs been since Liverpool won it. We never heard the end of 26 years.

Do the Ed's know if any of the english clubs are worried about the transfer window closing and then getting bids from foreign clubs for their players but not being able to find a replacement until January? It could unsettle a few players if transfers are turned down.

I'm all for the transfer window closing before the season starts but I think it should be across all leagues and not just england.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - The clubs would typically still be open to selling some players but not others - so they would refuse to discuss those they do not wish to sell. The date is not mandated so it cannot be imposed on other countries.}

05 Aug 2018 09:18:13
Surely an agreement between the 20 premier league clubs that they can't buy each other players after the season starts would have been a wiser solution.

That way premier league clubs could still still buy and sell with clubs from europe after the season starts.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - That is not an option.}

05 Aug 2018 09:47:25
In your opinion Ed002, would United still be open to selling Pogba and Martial after the window has shut here.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - As I have explained, both are available. If others don't come in or they can't be sold the Manchester United are stuck with players that are unwanted.}

05 Aug 2018 10:23:13
That's what I figured ed002, was more interested in the problem of a wanted player having their head turned by a bid from an interested club and the the club having no intention of selling.

Closing by the start of the season is the best possible idea, from memory the EPL starts first out of all the big leagues, maybe it would be easier for a common agreement on the end of the transfer window, although I don't think it's possible that will happen.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - There would be no bids if the club refuse to discuss players. The English clubs voted to change the date - it was their choice nobody else.}

05 Aug 2018 10:58:01
Fair enough, thanks ed002.
