Park was getting into the box last season came up with a few goals. I remember talking about it with gan. Was hitting good form till he left for asia. Carrick i still think undervalued but I see why, fletch didn't he got an assist on his return game? Tis true there aint much left of them but still think they will raise as the kids get stronger. With clevs. The team does improve going forward. We need someone to rotate with him though. Aye we shall see.. ..constantine..

Just a quick question - but does anyone know if Torres has scored more goals for Chelsea the Carrol has for liverpool?

I am disgusted SAF didn't go out and pay 35m for Andy Carroll when he had the chance. I'm afraid the old man has lost it where King Kenny has knows class when he sees it.

I'm telling you now, we must be all aware of the resurgence of Liverpool! They have wisely spent 100m which has resulted in last year they were 7th, but this year they have progressed to...oh 7th.

Since his first couple of matches, De Gea has been by far the best keeper in the PL. He makes impossible saves routinely, and looks far more assured with crosses and physical play. His distribution is fantastic. His reactions and his positioning have been the best Ive seen in years. And as for Reina, he's good, but he doesn't save anything unexpected and he makes his fair share of mistakes, as could be seen in Fulham's winner tonight.

Red I can say that we are in a balance for sure. It could slip away. I just think we have arrested the fall to a degree. Beginning with the loss of ronaldo even before that. The balance between attack and defence wasn't the same. Too much counter attack and not enough all round continues pressure we've known from the becks and co. This is the type of football that has the potential to come back. Losing ronaldo highlighted that weakness. We arrested that fall. So if anything this has been going on for a while. But it is changing and though it wasn't perfect we saw that in the attitude in the beginning of the season. And as for the players we have. Park fletcher and carrick are all capable of stepping into some form and the youngens are getting stronger and more composed. Earlier excitement and energy, clevs injury composure knocked we wavered now the composure is restoring the fall is arresting. I am willing to bet that we will see some good football BEFORE the addition or two in midfield. My thoughts are it isn't the personnel we have its the attitude and belief they have in themselves and a collective that will bring out the best in them. As the youngsters get better the old hats will raise there game. ..constantine..

best keeper in the prem they said... maybe even the world..

oh well s**t happens !!! {Ed004's Note - Man Utd fans can't say much can we. We all claim De Gea is the best young keeper in the world yet he made 3 mistakes in two games. Ok if he isn't the best young keeper in the world then Neuer is... but he also conceded a shocker in his first match... *sigh*. All players make mistakes. I saw Messi miss a chance I would score, does that mean he isn't one of the best in the world?}}

Red man bud. still don't think we on decline. we've had some iffy results sure. The back is starting to shore up though. But hernandez smalling cleverly jones de gea and lingarrd have all become key players and young too. In the last two years this has happened. While we are looking for a central componant we are still improving other areas. Benefit will be there for years. The club is getting stronger in brand terms, we are still in the mix for a few trophies iffy europe but then we are in transition. What happened to liverpool was a decline arsenal had slide and they are in danger of declining. But still in the bigger picture I don't think we are there yet. couple of bad results but we haven't dropped a level yet. Bigger picture we are still strong with potential and as much as we could go up a level with the right creative player we are not dependent on it. We can still win the 1-0's. If we weren't doing that. I'd say we were in decline. Teams don't fear us so much but that can play into our hands let man city have there little time, while we hang in there bring in and establish the youth and when it clicks and holds we will see incredible football again. chess not checkers. Just perspective I guess. ..constantine..

Ed i wasn't talking about newcastle winger guitt i was talking about thier midfielder gatteri who plays alongside kabaye. Is there any chance of him signing cause i can see he is going to be caught by sir alex and his staff {Ed002's Note - I have no idea who you are talking about, sorry. I guessed you had incorrectly spelt the player's name and that is why I interpreted it as Gutierrez. I am stumped. Sorry.}

Alright guys

Bit of a side note but just like to add my thoughts on the Ballon D'or. Ronny has always been my hero and i would love him to win it but having watched Xavi for a while i have to say i havent ever seen a more accomplished midfielder. Sensational...his stats say it all. He's not getting any younger and i hope he gets the recognition he deserves. Doesnt always grab the headlines but i havent seen him play badly....wish SAF had convinced him to come to OT

It's not rocket science, Jones gets on the edge of the 6yd box and scores. Why can't our strikers realise that is where you score goals from. Not outside the area as Mr Rooney seems to believe. The amount of times i saw our wingers look up and see that no one had made a run into the box so they had to turn back on themselves and lay the ball off. They should be beating their man and whipping the ball across the area for a striker to finish. I don't think R.V.N ever scored a goal outside the area and boy was he some striker. RAINFISHTROMBONE

We keep hearing Jones' long term position will be at CB but does anyone else thing that is a huge waste.
From what I've seen so far the kid has a great engine, technically good on the ball and has the ability to drive forward in the style of Keano, which is something we have not had since he departed for Celtic.
I'm not suggesting he is an answer to a creative spark but when you look at the others around he is technically better than Fletcher, has more drive and bite than Carrick, doesn't go missing like Ando & has spent more time on the pitch rather than the treatment room than Cleverly.
With the rumours of Rodwell doing the rounds I honestly think we have a better player already.

how about bringing in jamie o'hara as a squad player in january, knows the league, gives his all, good shot. If were getting rid of the deadwood like gibson, park, kusack, and other fringe players, that will free up some money.
cheap reliable, could be a new nicky butt. He want be the answer, far from it, we will still need that marquee cm like eriksen, martinez, but someone in january to add numbers and contribute. either him or rodwell

Petrucci, Syd you watch the reserves regularly. I only watch highlights and have been suitably impressed with him, surely we could blood him as a creative force in the CM position? I literally can't wait to get rid of Gibson and I have stated many times before, If any one at the club is reading this, I will happily drive him where ever you want him to go.

as much as i think a great all round footballer he is, i think rooney would score more goals if he just stay up front most of the time and not come back to cover for wing back positions, think using nani behind him with valencia and young as wingers again in midweek would not be bad

Did anyone hear Pardew's comments regarding David Luiz not getting a red card?

"Big clubs get all the decisions"

Saying if it was his player at Old Trafford he would have been sent off, did he not see the penalty his team got last week? I used to respect this man, but he is nothing more than a hypocrite with a very short memory.

with chelsea apparently willing to let a few senior players leave in january does anyone think we should sell owen and maybe bring in drogba? hernandez is injured aswell so it would give us more options and i think drogba would bring something different to our attack. he wouldn't be a bad fourth choice striker now would he, rather have him than owen...

do you think we suffer from being too versatile?
the reason i ask is we only really have evra and vidic who regulary start in specialised positions, vidic is arguably the best cb in the prem and evras form has dropped becaused of too many games from being the best because he specialised there.
with just about every player able and often playing multiple positions, i mean could you imagine how good jones would be if he stuck to a box to box midfield role, he could be our new keane or robbo

Looking for everyone's opinion on the last 6 weeks or so at United. Is it a case of bad form, injuries or a lack of quality in the squad? Personally, while form and injuries are legitimate causes, I still don't believe we have the players at the club needed to compete with City's big transfers. There's a reason why certain players are bought for 15mil (ashley young, valencia, etc) and certain players are bought for twice that (Silva, Aguero, etc). As good as SAF is at finding value, you don't get points on the scoreboard for fielding a cheaper team, and even if you spend 30mil on two players instead of one, you can only play 11 at a time, and depth, while useful, doesn't improve your starting XI. We have so many decent players at the club, but how many are guaranteed starting XI? Rooney, Nani, Evra, Vidic? Look at teams like barcelona, real, city, and they have the majority of their starting XI automatically chosen for them. They have depth to cover injuries, but they don't rely on squad rotation. We seem to be clueless as to who deserves to play, and its impossible to improve our chemistry with a different lineup each week. I still believe we are 50-100mil worth of players away from being able to compete for the #1 spot in the world, and while Im hopeful about players like Cleverley, Jones, Smalling, etc it is not currently enough to mount a credible challenge either in the league or in Europe. I am grateful for all that players like Fletcher, Carrick, Rio, Park and Giggs have given to our club and achieved with the club, but if you think players like that are going to trouble City or Barca, you're sadly mistaken. What would you do going forward? Do you agree with me, and if not, that's cool, just tell me how you would proceed.....

if we were to buy a dcm in jan (most likely rodwell, but would prefer javi martinez) do you think they could be used to cover carricks defensive duties so could play him further up the field as he did with spurs or has his game changed too much since his arrival ?

We r 2 quik t give up in r players wen they not in form! Carick not gud enuf 4 utd n neva has been! Does a job but not wat a utd midfield wiv fletch in needs coz fletch is not in form but wen he is he is a workhorse in mid so please no more get rid of fletch! Clevs is a perfect fit as a utd midfeider vision awareness n playmaker but a full season 4 utd is a lot harder on a players fitness so we need another player t step in as is showing now? We always have 2 players 4 each position so it wudnt harm any progress if we buy the finished article 4 big bucks ie modric, wesley, ozil, even kaka? Ravel n pogba will b great but same as wiv clev will need time but wiv s**tty lukin close to us we dint have time! 1 player will take our very gud squad miles further. + if david vila is available surely we wud get him rather than let him add t suarez bein a waste of a gud player at a mediocre team?
