If pogba and sanchez are already starting to play in the same area is it any wonder sanchez is over-compensating, jose sold sanchez a dream of where he'd play and what he wanted him to do, clearly pogba is exercising his belief that he's first choice and the team orchestrates around him (in his mind), so i feel sorry for sanchez and wonder if pogba is the right type of player for the united TEAM, there is no question he's world class, and could be THE best, but does his lifestyle and media presence reflect well on him and the club? is he going to be like patrick viera, like or loathe him, he was the leader at the gonners, will pogba step up to the plate? if jose goes for seri this summer then i think that's answered right there.

If that’s the case you’ve presented then I feel it should be good competitions. Both have their merits and strengths and provide different options for the manager. Pogba strong and potential world class but still some way to go whilst Sanchez is small built, jumble pacey and proven. Jose should make them realize how they can complement each other and we will be pretty strong there.
In the long run I feel Pogba is a captain potential with the team bolt around him. Problem is will he be able to focus himself on his role or become too distracted? I feel he is our main person for the years to come but as you know sometimes kids get distracted and that’s my fear. I feel Sanchez is good for the next few years to help us get back to be champions again but there is some much he can do at this top level and he will start sliding in a 3-4 yrs.
Hence we need both and the board and manager has to manage that and for them the problem is keeping them satisfied financially. Story short is we need to build/ rebuild the team around these two.
Sanchez = short to mid term and Pogba = long term.

Hope your right 666Red, i think one of the big tests will be if pogba heeds jose's advice about giving up on playing basketball when off, there's no doubt the older you get, the more prone to injury you get, pogba will need divine intervention if one of the less reputable red tops catches him still playing, what with jose and his 'earn my respect' ways this could be a ricket waiting to happen, and as usual his agent is starting to crank out little stories here and there, all in all i wouldn't want to be jose, juggling all those pampered egos, man alive its enough to put you in a padded cell with the pixies.

Pogba is still growing up 😉 Bt hopefully quick as we need to get the trophy back to OT. And yes I’m not worried about Sanchez. As I’ve said he will come good just hopefully soon.

For me the performance was truly shocking from start to finish, but there is something to be very hopeful about.

If we can play that badly and score 3 goals (even against a severely depleted Palace) then there is no reason when we play better we can't become a goal machine. Hopefully the protective puppy fat has been shed now and the true Utd animal will be released.

This could be the most important 90mins in many a year for us, purely because it showed Jose that his negative tactics are redundant. If we can have the attacking intent from the get-go as if we are 2-0 down then we will be a very hard team to beat. After the 2nd Palace goal his game plan was torn up and it was just do whatever you can to score lads, something an armchair fan can instruct.

I truly hope that Jose dispenses with the 3 sitting midfielders now, allows the players to attack in numbers and with that the confidence will come. We lack any plan going forward as a team because we rarely attack as a team, no patterns to our play minimal chances created, but we have class individuals, who will improve as a team if given the opportunity. So this lesson could be a real blessing worth far more than a grindy 3 points against relegation fodder.

This could be the match that finally proves to Jose that he is managing Man Utd and we can outscore anybody - just stop with the defensive focus!

Good post beast can’t argue with any of that. Jose was forced to take the shackles off and low and behold we score 3 goals. The spirit can not be underestimated so to come back from behind twice in the last 2 games shows we have the ability to dig deep and grind out victories. But I don’t want us to always be grinding out victories. If we take the game to teams, with the attacking talent at our disposal, we will beat teams convincingly. This weekend against Liverpool we need to attack Liverpool and not allow them to press us. I would start mata and Carrick so that we can ensure our ball retention is good and dictate the tempo of the game.

Shocking from start to finish. We won 2-3. But "from start to finish" we were shocking. Again, hyperbole will kill us all.

Good post that Beast we need to be a bit more ruthless but the main issue is team coordination we are playing as individuals rather then as a team.

We always look flat when we play 3 in the middle, never get enough support to the front 3.

06 Mar 2018 08:42:07
I don't agree with your sentiments beast. It's easy in a big comfy chair (although based on your comments I'd think your sitting on thorns named Jose) to preach attack, but when you are in the hot seat, things change.

So sit back and enjoy the victory lads.

Agree0 Disagree1

06 Mar 2018 08:44:45
Beast, I basically agree, but worry about further exposure of our decidedly dodgy defence to further counter attacks. We only look good re goals conceded because of a world class goalkepper in DDG.
Fix the defence then I am with you 100%.

3 home games in a week coming up. 3 wins sets us up with lots to play for coming into march and April. can't wait to see team fir saturday i think we will see something unusual in the team selection. Maybe 3 at the back i don't know why but i just have a feeling jose will try something different i reckon he will go on with a must not lose mentality but it wouldn't shock me to see a high press and try to cut of supply to the front 3. I don't want to see an anfield mk2 approach. i'm sure i'm not alone😀.

Now that we are back in front of Liverpool I imagine Jose will be happy with a point. Do we really think he will actually attempt to go toe to toe with a rival for the first time in his career.

Agree1 Disagree1

05 Mar 2018 22:49:52
Even though Sanchez hasn't found his best form recently I hope we all back him. Also speaking of Sanchez he now knows what it's like to play with a bit of balls unlike Arsenal who are with rare exceptions spineless.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

06 Mar 2018 02:31:19
He’s a tryer and Man Utd fans love a player like that, allways have so he will be backed no doubt and why shouldn’t he be, he has so many good attributes and I don’t wanna knock him because he’s such a good player but I really think his ball rentention spoils him. i get the fact he tries things others won’t but so often the pass he’s looking for is not even on and he’s forcing things. Definitely something he should look to improve on.

05 Mar 2018 22:31:57
Great results but our play was very sloppy, you would think there was no desire but then you see the passion with goals. I think he needs to put Carrick and Baily back in for the Liverpool game just to cover the back and organization. Again Pogba looked uninterested, Sanchez is trying to hard l think as he can't even pass the ball now. Overall performance very poor, but the result is massive.

Believable0 Unbelievable4

Carrick will be bypassed by quicker Liverpool players. I would have Sanchez and Pogba on all day long form is temporary class is permanent and hopefully the big players will rise to a big occasion.

So a fightback to recall how we always used to fight and often win at the death. That said why do we seem to be unable to start off at a high tempo. Also what has happened to our defensive play. We were so solid earlier in the season but at the moment we seem likely to ship goals every game. We really need to sharpen up for our weekend visitors.

Smalling and Lindelof are arguably the worst of the 5 central defenders on our roster. Both seem to lack balance and poise, and be prone to desperate clearances even when there is little pressure, giving away corners when it could have been throw-ins, or throw-ins where it could have been a full clearance. They are made to look even worse when they are put under extra pressure by sloppy, slow, and disinterested midfielders ahead of them.

Great spirit to come back from 2 down. Terrible first half but coming back from behind for the second game in a row is very exciting. Since Fergie left we have hardly had a sniff at these sort of come backs so long may it continue. Sanchez was terrible and looks like he is trying too hard. Needs to get back to basics but you can’t fault him for always putting in a shift and working hard. Loving Lukaku more and more as each game passes but matic has catipulated himself to my favourite player. Chelsea must be gutted they have lost him because he is one of the best in the business at what he does. Loved that he channelled his inner Scholes to bend that ball in the top corner. Pogba was poor again but mata and rashford made the right impact. Mata offers vision and creativity that nobody else in our squad can. I would look to play him in the first team as much as possible as he is a class act.

Valencia and young are shocking. I know Valencia always seems to escape criticism but when I watch him play it reminds me of Neville during the end of his career. His legs look to be going. I hope we go with 3 at the back against Liverpool to combat their front 3. Result and fight was great but I would love us to just start games with this desire and urgency. We only start playing when we go a goal down.

If you guys want to have a laugh go on the Liverpool page and see how bitter and salty they are that we didn’t lose today.

I’m glad I’m not the only one that thinks this ken! I love Valencia and he has always been such a hardworking player but this year has seen a dramatic drop in his industry both offensively and defensively. Granted he has scored some brilliant goals and he got an assist tonight, he looks like he has lost half a yard of pace. Even when he has lacked offensively we always knew Defensively he was solid. However now that doesn’t seem to be the case. Not sure who we can sign at right back but I hope we are looking.

I’ve never been on the bandwagon that he is the best right back in the league Robbie. Just because I don’t think he’s good enough at right back does not mean I’m fickle. If we want to win the league we have to upgrade both are full backs over the summer. It’s very clear to everybody but neither of our full backs offer any quality going forward and they have a mistake in them defensively.

Obviously over the moon with the result but I have now been watching us play for 25ish years (where I can remember it) . I don't think I have ever seen a performance as bad as Sanchez tonight. Has anyone else? If so when and who? I remember there were some culprits against MK dons a few years ago.

I'm not talking about one individual mistake, or a team flop, I mean consistently terrible individual for an entire game.

Can’t argue with that Dublin Sanchez has struggled since joining. But like others said he seems to be trying too hard and has upset the balance of our team. Him and pogba seem to try to operate in the same areas and it’s not working at the moment. He looked much better when mata came on. Mata for me has to start as much as possible for us. His vision is the best in our squad and he picks a pass that none of our other attackers can find. We have the attacking players but we have nobody to reach them. Mata can be that player that picks those passes.

Sanchez was not great but at least he played a couple of clever balls into the penalty area that were very difficult to defend. Pogba was absolutely shocking the first half, McTominay revealed himself to be the average player he is, and even Lingard was sloppy.

Beyond the lethargy, the tactics were mystifying. Young and Valencia have come in for some criticism however, to their credit, both of them were up and down their respective wings all night only to be spurned or missed by Sanchez, Pogba, and McTominay all of whom preferred to try to thread a needle through a non-existant hole in the middle. The only time the backs were passed to was when they were not in space, thus the attacks were slowed down. When they were in space they were ignored. On one occasion in particular, Young must have had 20 yards to work with if the ball had been passed to him, but no, it was back down the middle.

After CP's second goal I was so frustrated I had to turn it off and take a ten minute break and missed Smalling's goal.

I would obviously like us to win but I am not sure I agree with you about confidence. We seem to be a different team home and away, we can be poor away from home then come back to OT and play like a different team, each time this season we have struggled in an away game we have won the following home game, very strange but it does seem to be the case.

I think you're all being a bit pretentious and complacent about this. Liverpool may not have won anything for a while but they're the only team to have given City a good hiding and if I was a gambling man I'd put money on them finishing higher than us this year and next year who knows what they might achieve.
It pains me to see Liverpool and City and to a lesser extent Spurs playing the way they are whilst we trudge our way to 3 points.
