United reportedly planning to bid for Benfica winger Nico Gaitan. Do we really need another winger trying to battle for a place with Nani, Young and Valencia? Surely we would be better spending money on the positions that we actually need like a central midfielder, an area which is clearly our weakest at the moment.

Good evening Guys

Well it looks like here we go again with WS rumours. Now I was one who wanted him to sign in the summer and I have to say I was disappointed when he stayed put but I bet he's missing us more than the team are missing him. That said IMO we are still in need for a world class centre midfielder and I don't know if the rest of you agree but WS had his chance and he didn't want it bad enough so I think we should look elsewhere.I'm sure I'm about to be bombarded by people telling me I'm wrong but I still say we want people who are going to die for the Red shirt.Even if he's available I don't see Fergie going for him in the summer as he doesn't do his business in January.

If Rio Ferdinand is sold we need a Laurent Blanc or Jaap Stam kind of signing instead of a Phil Jones or Smalling.

Isn't about time we turned Everton into our feeder club as we already have Rooney and I can see possible moves for Rodwell, Baines and Barkley in the near future and possibly Fellaini.
When our players get a bit old the toffee men can have them cheap just like Neville, Saha, Howard.
Maybe we should help Everton out of their financial crisis for a nice little agreement giving us first dabs on their players and them on the ones we don't want anymore.
Have never had any bad feelings for the blue scousers and sad to see a great club like that in such a bad way but they are good at producing young talent.

Just got in from work and thaught i would check out todays banter.

Is this Ozone character as daft as his/her posts suggests as he/she obviously has no idea about finances.

He/she just make themselves look more and more stupid every time they post something.

I am all for a bit of banter but this character is a total muppet and should try arguing about something they understand.

Manchester United are set to raid Portugal for another wing wizard - Benfica's Nico Gaitan.

United signed talented widemen Cristiano Ronaldo and Nani from Sporting Lisbon and the Premier League champions are now keeping tabs on the star turn from Sporting's cross-city rivals Benfica.

Argentine winger Gaitan has been in exceptional form so far this season in his side's unbeaten start to the campaign - and caught the eye in Benfica's 1-1 Champions League draw with United in September.

And now, according to reports in Portugal, Sir Alex Ferguson is considering a move for the 23-year-old but he will face competition from a number of top clubs across Europe.

Copy n paste again - I hope this is not true, Argies playing in England come with to much baggage.... HERBIE

I don't mean every individual buyer, but perhaps the companies buying the huge amounts of shares, or the companies that individual investors will go through?

----------------------------------------------

You mean the people who will have a say how the revenues are spent at Utd.

The Glazers have stitched you up. They've grown the business and are selling you lot down the river in order to profiteer just before the economy starts to get messy again.

For left back is it worth monitoring Briggs from Fulham he plays left back as would be good getting another young english player to play with jones, smalling, cleverley, barkley (if we get him),morrison and wellbeck?

Ed002 - You say if the refinanced PIKs do exist, then they are a red herring, what do you mean by that exactly?

Sydney! {Ed002's Note - In respect of the sale they are of no significance at all. They are not the clubs debt if they exist - they are the Glazer's debt. Should the Glazers wish to sell equity in one of their assets to pay them off then that is nothing to do with the club or the fans. It has no impact whatsoever.}

regarding visiting liverpool rumour site -
mate i've visited other teams sites, but only during the window and to check signing rumours. never did i think of posting on another teams site, i think 99% of this sites user would be the same. fair duece posting a comment, but to come back and post again on the same comment (thus checking the reactions to your comment) your the one that needs to grow up. banter is fine and you didnt stir to much, but no one could be bothered to complain, unlike me who has too much time on hand.

Oppositional defiant disorder (ODD) is a diagnosis described by the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) as an ongoing pattern of disobedient, hostile and defiant behavior toward authority figures which goes beyond the bounds of normal childhood behavior. People who have it may appear very stubborn and angry. Sydney get over Liverpool or start following them

seeing as were in an international break and have no decent football to talk about lets look forward to possible transfers and what players we need/want to join the club.

I think we'll see a quite a few departures in either january of next summer, these being: Kusczcak, De laet, Gibson, Berbatov and Owen then possibly Ferdinand, Evra, Carrick, Macheda and Diouf along with Sir Ryan retiring(or becoming a human cyborg and continuing play until he's 100-ish. lol).

So we'll need a left back, at least one midfielder and a young striker/forward player. I don't think Ferdinand will need replacing as we'll still have four good centre backs in Vidic Jones Smalling and Evans, along with players like Fryers, Thorpe and Blackett set to break through in the next few years.

For left back i think it's important to get someone in their prime who has experiance as we will have quite a few inexperianced defenders in the squad and having another player to help guide them would be better. Also Fryers and Blackett will more than likely be pushing for a left back berth as we are well stocked at centre back so an older player(25+) will not be in their way long term. The three main names on my list are:

Baines- has huge prem experiance and gets his fair share of goals and assists, is one of the best left footed crossers in england and can take free kicks, going against him is his lack of champions league experiance and that he'll be 27 in december.

Izaguirre- excellent runner of the flank and a good crosser of the ball, hasn't got much experiance of high level football and can be caught out by his attacking instincts, but always gives 100% when going forwards and backwards.

Pereira- an excellent player who is very versitle, can play LB, LW and DM. Is a powerful runner and proberly the toughest/strongest of the three and still retains plenty of speed up and down the pitch. He would cost alot(16m+), and the Premier league is a big step up from Portugal.

Briggs has been mentioned and i'd say he's in with a shout but i feel his signing would send out the wrong message to the likes of Fryers and Blackett.

I feel we need two midfielders, one who can anchor our midfield and one who is more expansive and preferably able to play Left wing as we will be short of a good left footed winger/midfielder when Giggs retires.

For the anchor role:

Rodwell- i'll admit i wrote him off as a ten minute hero after last seasons poor form(mainly due to injuries and lack of faith by the manager), but he's been really good and soild so far this season enough to show that a move to a higher level isn't beyond him. He can also play at centre back which could be useful if Ferdinand leaves.

Barkley- Rodwell's younger and possibly more talented team mate. He is a great prospect and will surely be a great player if he's coached right and has the right attitude. Personally i feel his style of play is similar to both Tunnicliffe and Pogba which would just slow down all of their progression, also could you throw him into the big games and trust him to do his job? I feel he is a player who should be watched for a few years so he can gain experiance and we can see how our own youngsters pan out before making any move for him.

McCarthy- (bond will be happy with this name. lol) is a very good premier league player and if Wigan are relagated this season he could be available for a good price plus we have a good relationship with Dave Whelan. He is ready for a bigger challenge and could do a very good job for us.

Moussa Sissoko- Is a great player in the making, his surging runs strong tackling and his prescence are all top class. He maybe too forward thinking though to do the Anchor role and if he did do it you will be losing a great part of his game.

The more expansive left footed attacking midfielder should be one of the following:

Modric- the obvious choice and so because he's proberly the best choice. His vision movement and passing are amazing. the only down points are that sometimes he struggles to impose himself on games and his cost at least 30m+

Bannan- a great young player who has excellent vision passing and movement, can play left wing no problem, only down side is his slight frame meaning he's not great as much of a battler in the tough games.

Marin- much the same as Bannan just a german version.

Douglas Costa- a good player but not tested in a strong league yet, can be alittle lazy and can drift in and out of games rarely imposing himself on the game.

The last position we could do with someone is up front. If your looking for someone to be strong and lead the line then it has to be one of:

Erick Torres- a great young player who has all the attributes to get to the top, comes from Chivas so we have a good relationship with his club from the Hernandez deal, could lightening strike twice?

M'baye Niang- a real rising star of french football, big strong with great feet and alot of talent.

Or would we be better off signing a forward player who plays deeper and could offer us an alternative to Rooney should we be without him through injury suspension or just resting him. For me it'd have to be either:

Iturbe- Possibly the most exciting young player about in world football at the moment. a true talent and potential world player of the year in the future if he fulfills his potential. He has it all bar height but that hasn't stopped Messi.

Zaha- Sticking closer to home and a real clever player with great vision. Is being chased by Barca and Bayern. And would be alot cheaper than Iturbe and would be more likely to stick around longer than him too.

So theres my round up of who i feel we could buy. If i was pushed to who i would sign i'd proberly go for:
Izaguirre, Rodwell, Bannan and Iturbe(but i do like Zaha, so wouldn't be too miffed if we signed him instead).

Let me know what you guys think and who you'd like to see sign next summer. Btw sorry for rambling abit. lol
