Am I the only one who thinks top 4 is by no means a cert yet? Don't get me wrong were playing really well recently and I think well get a result against City. But assuming we lost to City and Chelsea, with games against Everton and Palace away tough, i still think it's too soon to be overly confident

I think top 4 is nailed on mate. The boys came good when they had to and with City wobbling I really think we should be thinking we can beat anyone at the minute. If we get a result against City and carry that momentum forward then the top two is by no means impossible when you consider we still have a chance to play the Gunners.

For the first team this season I think we should be confident going into games and we should be thinking about getting a win here and a win there rather than thinking if we lose this game and that game. Also if we finish strong and bring back the fear factor then I feel next year could be one of great success. Here's hoping our run of not just results but fine performances continues.

Well yes stand if we lose all 4 of them games we could probably throw top 4 away, but even then we would probably still get top 4 as on current form nobody could think liverpool and Spurs will win every game from now on.

It is not over yet, of course not, but we have ourselves in a position where we can look upwards and not downwards, arsenal have had a great season and are a point above us, city are now below us going into the Derby, a few weeks ago nobody would have believed that if you told them, especially the 'realists'.

On current form do you really see us losing all 4 of them games?

Agree4 Disagree0

07 Apr 2015 00:49:34
No personally I think we will beat City, possibly lose to Chelsea or a point. But we should be beating Everton! Hope he can add a couple of real quality players this summer, top players, and think we can challenge for the title next year and at least a CL QF spot

This one is shocking but i completely agree with each and every word of your post JMB :)

Top 4 is not a certainty until we have mathematically accumulated the points, all other discussions are meaningless as we have 21 points to play for and need 13 points from those fixtures IMO, 12 might even do it.

All other discussions are meaningless GCU, wish you had told us that sooner, people are wasting their time here!

City have got 14 points from the last 10 games, we've got 25. We have the best home record in the league, anyone else getting really excited for Sunday? Trying really hard not toget ahead of myself here but I'm sure I'm not the only one!

Believable5 Unbelievable0

06 Apr 2015 22:15:52
Beating them next week is a must. Beating them would put us four points in front of them going into the Chelsea game, which would make that game a lot easier for the lads psychologically.

If we maintain our current form I can't see City beating us.

City are sinking faster than the titanic mate. God only knows what's been going on in that dressing room since the turn of the year. Interesting summer ahead at the Etihad one would assume.

I'm looking forward to Sunday and would think the united players are too especially given the boost from recent results. I'm just hoping the players stay calm and concentrate on doing things as they have over recent weeks. I think this game will give a good indication of how far we have progressed as derby games are very intense now city have improved slightly (but not back to the level of mercer & Allison and nowhere near united). Just hope we hold our nerve and play our new way dictating possesion to get the 3 points.

Ed002 I know you are usually coy on giving out this type of information but I seen you said 'that any managerial change now depends on other factors'.

Could you elaborate on this mate?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - There is no need to elaborate right now, but there has been a little shift.}

06 Apr 2015 23:11:33
One more thing Ed, Is this still in relation to the upsetting of a significant member of the heriachy at the club or something new completely?

{Ed002's Note - Unrelated.}

Hi Edd

I asked you back in December i think what I AM KLOOT stood for and you told me to ask you in April and you would tell me so. What does/did I AM KLOOT stand for/mean?

{Ed002's Note - Ask me after lunch on April 13 (which should be a Monday).}

They are a band formed in Manchester the late 1990's. The Name of the band was inspired by the movie Klute. I believe the contributor long since seen on this page of the same name was a fan of the band and would put the most pessimistic of us to shame. Well other than the Beast :P

I know it's a week away but watching this city side it looks like they are planning their holiday already given up on the title whereas it looks like our players are playing like every games a final. I don't think this city side will fancy facing us next week and if they lose this game to palace their confidence must be on the floor. Hoping LVG can deliver a perfect birthday present on Sunday.

Hi all, are the rumours true that it's a straight fight between us and chelski for Koke? Or are we even interested at all? Personally, me, I like Saul niguez, but I can't see a. Madrid letting both go? Second choice, are the Belgians? Youri tielemans or Julien de sart?

Believable0 Unbelievable2

06 Apr 2015 21:51:59
Is the Belgian thing a joke Ronnie? I'm not being mean when I ask you this question, but how old are you? Just might help me understand your posts.

GDS2 I was just about to post the same thing. Surely Ronnie is having is on.

Agree1 Disagree0

07 Apr 2015 21:06:25
No, no tricks? There is just some good young Belgians coming through that's all? Better we snap them up before teams like chelski do! ie Hazard? Then loan them all out! De Bruyne a prime example? To buy him now is going to cost in excess of £30-35m? Maybe more? The guys been immense for Wolfsburg! I'd have him at utd any day of the week! How old, 23, yes, that's right 23! What are our so called scouts doing? I know let's get Falcao! Good one!

It appears to have got unnoticed on here with our drastic improvement in performances.

a lot of people on here would sell toni V, yet he's in most of the 5-a-side teams the players make his form since the Arsenal game has been very good indeed.

I'm not saying he's a starting RB, RWB, RM, RW or RF but we have to give the lad credit, his crossing isn't always on point but his work rate, determination, pace and power have been overlooked by pretty much everyone.

I hope he keeps up the form he's shown lately.

Believable4 Unbelievable0

06 Apr 2015 17:39:40
Yep I think he's earned a place as a valuable squad player next term, which is good considering most of our view of him 12 months ago. Young is another who we thought should leave not long ago but has earned his stripes. Consistency is important moving forward and we already have key positions to fill so its good not to have to replace these two as well as Fellaini, Mata, Smalling etc. who have all impressed beyond expectations.

Agree2 Disagree0

06 Apr 2015 17:41:24
He's p**s poor for me can't defend gets caught out of position can't cross is scared to beat a man he's scared to pass forward and is a bit rash. He can't even do a throw in properly.

Agree4 Disagree3

06 Apr 2015 17:54:37
Good post. I have been critical of Valencia and I'm often frustrated by his crossing/decision making. However he's an incredibly hard worker, versatile, and seems to put the club first. I would keep him as a squad player because the omens don't look good for Rafael, and we'll need another right sided defender.

Agree3 Disagree0

06 Apr 2015 18:16:01
Pace - absolutely
Strength - absolutely
link up play - absolutely

crossing - worst in the league imo.disgraceful crossing(maybe i exaggerated here but i cry every time he crosses a ball)
defending - average but still acceptable

I think he should be kept as a squad player but if he is our first choice RB then we pretty much shut out any good chances from the right side which I think is criminal given we have the likes of Fellaini who can get into the box.

Agree3 Disagree0

06 Apr 2015 19:14:59
His Crossing is the only thing that bothers me, it's gone to the dogs since his first season where his crosses were spot on. Boggles the mind how it has vanished from his locker. He has done better than most people expected being converted to right back. A huge improvement on his previous outings in that position.All in all though he puts a good graft in and works hard for the team,seems like a down to earth bloke.

Agree2 Disagree0

06 Apr 2015 20:09:58
He's a squad player for sure, but not a starter. His end products awful. Yes he gives 100% every game, work rate, commitment, power etc. But at some point you have to have the quality! I would give you pace , power and work rate for £50k a week I guarentee. But doesn't make me worthy f a place in the team. And we need to find a proper RB this summer

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Apr 2015 20:42:33
Valencia will not be our first choice next Year bup as we always had in the best years under Sir,Alex these squad players are invaluable. He will have developed from playing regularly this year and who knows if LVG can get Young going who is to say he can't sort Valencias crossing out!

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Apr 2015 20:44:24
We do need a 1st team quality RB, I don't think anyone is denying that. Unfortunately, though I do like him, I think maybe Rafael will have to move on.

Agree2 Disagree0

06 Apr 2015 23:15:07
Agree with honey Badger. I can definitely see Valencia sticking around more than Rafael at the minute. Also I don't think AV has been amazing by any means this year but he's did a job and got a lot of unwarranted stick.

Juan Mata seems like a really sound bloke always positive and just an all round good guy.

Had some great things to say about Herrera on his Blog

He has a brain and that is more important. If you put Mata's brain into Di Maria's body you would have the perfect player.

I was just wondering if anyone posters or Eds could clarify Ed Woodwards role within the club. I understand his position is that of executive vice chairman and that he is wrapped up in the financials of the club but what is his role in regards to transfers.

Assuming the manager tells the club which players he wants as well as alternatives and has the final say as to whether they are added to the squad or not (which is a good thing) then what is Woodward's role? He is not exactly a Director of Football as such so is his job just basically to get the deals over the line after the gaffer gives the go ahead?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Ed Woodward has responsibility for the day-to-day running of the club.}

06 Apr 2015 13:46:44
Ed, so he is not a direct replacement for David Gill then?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - No.}

06 Apr 2015 10:36:28
In the past few days I have noticed that there has been blame game going on. We have seen posts about how somebody was proven right and how somebody was proven wrong.

Ok there are still few flaws that need to be ironed out and I hope they are during the summer transfer window but right now can't we just enjoy the performances and soak in the positive vibe that is surrounding the team and the club?

I can't believe you guys having this conversation. I agree with both of you, there are two ways to handle this.

1) Do not start name calling and saying this person said this and that.

2) If we do bait each other out then we should have the courage to take criticism .

I believe we should be somewhere in the middle.
