God i'm glad that that mangala went to city he has not looked anywhere near his transfer fee.

Believable3 Unbelievable2

He needs time to settle. I think City have a very good player on there hands and he will come good for them.

Today's results have definitely gone our way so far! We really need to capitalise on Monday but it's going to be a tough game. Think the table could look completely different by mid january

Been a great afternoon for us so far. Depending on how the city everton game goes could get even better. Need to the buisness Monday night now

Believable4 Unbelievable0

We haven't played up to our potential yet and we have the opportunity to go 3rd on Monday night. Our players now have to show the desire and mental fortitude to take advantage of the opportunities provided by the inconsistencies of Arsenal, Liverpool and Spurs. It's in their own hands.

What is however becoming clear, is that teams understand how to defend, and are prepared to devote their primary efforts towards not conceding.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yep

two wins and we open up a major gap on some of the so called contenders for top 4 place with a half crooked squad.

The results could not have gone any better and what is becoming evident is that teams like spurs and Liverpool are not that much better than some of the lower teams and I believe Arsenal will grab 4th place.

CP should have beaten spurs today and I still believe we are in for a 3rd place finish as predicted prior to the seasons start.

Nomid you still think the scousers are a top 4 team:))

Agree0 Disagree0

Gcu
City and chelsea are the top 2 teams.
I think this squad is capable of a title push but when you read all the reasons for why we haven't been playing well many people think we are not . Or it might just be excuses for lvg.

4 th place ? I haven't been impressed with spurs everton or arsenal.
Southampton ? Ssshh i will get told off

Agree0 Disagree1

Jred

I think we gifted points away early in the season by playing 3 at the back. by any measure we should have had 5 or 6 more points and we would be right up there.

I also think this squad when healthy can challenge and maybe is short of the top 2 slightly and a couple of more quality signings in the summer should have us as a title contender next year.

Anyway let's see how we go tomm and all the results this weekend will mean nothing if we do not capitalise on it.

Agree2 Disagree0

Jred

I suggest Arsenal will finish top 4 and they go and lose at Stoke. I think 3rd and 4th are up for grabs and we could see a surprise. 3rd is definitely there for the taking.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ajh
I think i would still back arsenal for top 4 as i would expect them to spend a bit at xmas but at the moment they just don't look like a team.
There tactics are awful i think you can only blame wegner

Agree0 Disagree0

AJH/JRED

I also think they will finish 4th. I think they will buy a CB, nothing worldly as they will not be available but even the average ones are better than what they have at the moment. They are leaking goals too easily in a league where the bottom half defended in numbers.

It will be interesting to see how city cope with their injuries. Aguero is impossible to replace and we might see a few shock results in their games. I also think they are playing tour too much and he will break down at this rate.

Expect us to close the gap on the top 2

Agree0 Disagree1

I think the next two games are crucial wins for us. Last year, we got close to 4th spot on a couple of occasions then had bad results and let it slip. Tomorrow, I hope we can go there, play to our strengths and get a good win. I think we need to take control of games away from home and we haven't done that yet.
CGU, great results for us yesterday and especially scousers and arsenal. No one is running away with the 3rd and 4th spots and it is a long season. Do you still think welbeck is Bambi on ice and is useless? He seems to have done reasonably well for arsenal so far. Do you not agree?

Agree0 Disagree1

Nomid

I think Welbeck is good player but never good enough to lead the line at United, which is what he wanted. He is not a clinical striker and whilst can do the great thing every once in a while, he has so many gaffs and never looks like a natural striker. His issue is he is neither here or there to be honest which is what we have suffered with the last few years.

3rd and 4th spot are definitely open and so is second as a win only puts s 5 back of city. If we win the next 2 games the gap will be something like 7 to 10 points between us and Arsenal, Liverpool, Spurs. Westham and Southampton are nice stories but will not be able to sustain their league positions.

I personally don't think any of them will catch up as they are too much of a hit and miss and will need to put a bunch of wins together and us slipping up.

Can't see it happening. we have done all of this with a crooked squad missing both wing backs, cbs, injured midfielders unfit Falcao and out of form Janusaj who is a lot better than what we have seen so far.

Tomm's game should be quite interesting and will tell us where we stand.

A lot of people on here sayong we need a cb. I agree absolutely but what side would you go for? We all know LVG likes to have right footed in right side etc. I would go for Hummels (right foot). I think Rojo has potential, seems to be i'm proving every game and he has a better injury record than Smalling and Jones. I think Rojo could improve to be a starter at the club with more experience as he is still relatively young for a cb. Opinions?

Morning Eds, all,
Few rumours.
Apparently Klopp sees this as his last season at Dortmund. The teams difficulty in the league this season is a result of his focus/determination on the CL. He believes his current squad (when fully fit) can reach another final.
What I have also heard is that Hummels, Reus and Gundogen will all be sold either in January or the Summer (most likely). I think we have a chance with Hummels, Gundogen would also be a great signing of he can maintain his fitness.
Reus I'm guessing will probably end up at Madrid, once Bale and Benzema are sold but Barcelona could throw their hand in if Messi does end up leaving.
Lastly, I think Klopp could end up in one of 3 places next summer. Liverpool, Arsenal or perhaps even Madrid if Ancelloti were to leave?

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - (a) Klopp is contracted until 2018. Even if the MU job comes up in the summer (and don't be totally surprised if it does), I think the chances of Klopp joining are remote. He is aware of two options to him but the chances of a summer move are remote. Ancelotti may well be moving on. (b) Barcelona will not be buying anyone in January or the Summer.}

Hi ed, just a quick question, so do you think there's a chance lvg will not be here next season? Or is a a case of if he doesn't achieve what's expected of him ? Thanks

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Yes, I think there is a chance that he will leave in the summer. I would not necessarily link it to achievement either.}

Would quite like simeone at the club next year

Hmmm interesting ! Cheers ed.

Ed002. Could you elaborate on ancelotti moving. And is lvg leaving related to that. Thanks

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - There is a "super agent" who was in England earlier this week that sees the opportunity for several manager movements next summer (and he would like to be involved in them although none are represented by him). Ancelotti is open to considering offers for a move back to England and there are a couple of possible vacancies that may be of interest.}

Interesting ed. Do you think it'd be because of somebody else coming in or him wanting out ? Thanks again

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I am not going to get wrapped up in the reasoning behind it.}

I would agree with Jred. in the past few years Diego Simeone has proven himself as a very good manager.

Klopp has disappointed me this year. His main focus should have been to maintain bundesliga success before attempting to achieve success on a higher level. However there is still plenty of games left this season for them and the win against hoffenheim will have given them some confidence. They will finish in the top five.

Klopps contract expiration date means little as do most contract expiration dates in the current footballing world. If another club wanted him, especially a wealthy one like us of Madrid, they could afford him.

I don't see Rues joining Barca or Messi leaving quite yet. Rues was on to join them but they opted for Suarez instead.

Gundogen needs more time to get back to his best and like Falcao needs games under his belt to improve. Hummels would be a a good signing however he does have a bit of an injury record. since the beginning of this season he has been out for almost 2 months. So I am not fully sure he would be the player to shore up our defense. Sorry for the long post. I got carried away

Ed002,

Which vacancies are you referring to in England. Is City one possibility and who is the other one?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I have no interest in discussing it at this time. Ancelotti is aware of what may be coming - he has signed a one year extension that protects Real Madrid due to the inclusion of a financial provision for them if he laves.}

Why would lvg leave united

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - There could be any number of reasons.}

This talk about spending big money before next season begins, this new deal with Adidas 750 million, do we get this money over a few years or what?, does anyone know what % goes on transfers?i don't believe the waffle in the papers but we have a good deal going with Adidas!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

That is over a 10 year period (75 Million per season) and it isn't decided how much will be allocated to transfer funds. Even if it was, we would not be informed as that would put us in a weaker position when bidding for players.

The internal running of the club in terms of player purchases and allocation of funds would not be disclosed to the media.

It is just paper talk. We have not even reached January and the media are already talking about next summer! I tend to ignore paper talk especially when they claim to know how much a club will spend in 7 months time when the club itself wouldn't know as it depends on who our targets are and player availability.
