Hi guys,

Well after a very long 5 or so days I finally feel confident enough to post an update.

My Mrs went into labor last week, all was well and everything was ticking along nicely, so much so my Mrs decided to have the home birth she wanted.
At about 11am the midwife told me to get all the stuff ready, (sheets etc).
At 11:50am it got complicated and to put a long story short the ambulance was called and my Mrs (in quite some distress) was took off to hospital because the thoughts were my boy was 'being a git'.
Little did we know what lie ahead for the net 5 days.

I arrived at hospital in the car, as my Mrs wanted her mother to travel with her in the ambulance & its not like I can start disagreeing with a woman in labor so I agreed to meet them there. I let my dog out and rushed to the hospital about 10 mins behind. When I got to the hospital, I asked the front desk to take me to her and I was took back outside where at that point the ambulance with my Mrs in turned up and the nurse went running up to the ambulance and came back to me and told me how my Mrs had given birth on route and the baby had gone into distress and ended up (to put in in lamens terms) swallowed his own poo and totally blocking all his lungs and needed resuscitating and bringing back to life.

They rushed me and my Mrs into a room and sorted everything out that needed doing (u won't want me to go into details).
after about an hour they told us what had happened to him and took us to the intensive care unit where he was.
I arrived into a room with my boy with about 5 tubes in his mouth and nose and a machine working flat out pumping his lungs and shacking him to hell, along with sensors all over his head to monitor his brain.

That night the Doctor asked me if I wanted him baptized and pretty much told us there was little chance of him making the next 3 days (it was the worst form of this thing she had seen in her life she said).

I came home that night without a Mrs and a baby and didn't expect the latter to ever come home.

I prayed in the hospital chapel that night and when I got home I reached out to this site and asked for some positive thoughts and what I got words could never do justice.

I logged on once a day, normally just before sleep and could not believe the support my boy was getting from many people from many boards praying and hoping for my him and I promise I read every single post from every single person & I thank everyone from the bottom of my heart.

5 days on my boy is fighting strong and has improved so much the doctors are calling him the miracle baby and they are now telling us they expect a near full if not full recovery.
To give u an example how poorly he was, there was a couple with a baby born just 26 weeks into a 40 week pregnancy and I was told my boy was the sickest baby in the ward still.

Football brings people together for many reasons whether that be friendships, relationships, unity etc.
But I'm so glad about 10 years ago I typed into Google 'football rumors' and arrived here, albeit it was very different back then and began checking it daily.
Over them years it has changed so much and all the thanks should go to the edds for that, as well as the fine people that frequent this site from across the boards.

We bicker, whinge and wind each other up (I'm one of the worst, ain't that right Marcellus? :)) but I would just like to say to all the people on here that support many different football clubs. We are often all shown in a bad light and called some quite unsavory things from people who hate what football stands for, but 5 days ago I reached out to u all and with your help and the brilliant work of the doctors and nurses and the, Rosie-Addenbrookes, U helped save a boys life this last week and for that I'm forever to u all and always will be.

Today I saw my boy open his eyes for the first time and I can't wait to hold him, but none of that could of been even remotely possible with out everyone's help on here.

Love you all so much right now
THANK YOU SO MUCH

P.s we named him Jack with a middle name of Goerge (yes after the man himself).

Agree0 Disagree0

That is fantastic mate, I'm so pleased for you. For my second baby we had an incident with the poo as well although no where near extreme as yourself so really opened up my eyes on the dangers of it.

It's unbelievable the joys they can bring you and no matter how much they can cry and test your patience I'm always thankful of the most important things in my life. My wife and babies.

We never know what's around the corner so always thankful of what I've got.

Although I and the majority of the posters have never met you we wish you and your family the very best and I'm sure the little one will be with us all either in the stands or in front of the telly in the not too distant future!

Agree0 Disagree0

I cannot begin to imagine how hard it was for you, and I don't know whether all of our thoughts and prayers made the slightest difference in the boy's recovery, bit I'm glad you felt that a bunch of people you've never met stood by you in this difficult time.

Congratulations for you, the Mrs, and everyone close to you. And thank you for the news update, it really picked us up.

Agree0 Disagree0

Fantastic news Chris, i'm sure everyone here will keep praying for you little man to make a full recovery, football fans bicker and argue all the time but when it comes to something like your story, it always brings everyone together to show their support, all the best mate.

I never thought I would come on the United page and read something that would reduce me to tears.
Well, this just has!
I have prayed for you and you boy from the first time I read about him. And by the sounds of things all the positive thought's, not just from the United boys but from the footballing community in general seems to have, in some small way, helped to bring around such a great outcome.
I am sure the doctors who have fought so tirelessly have done an amazing job.
My thoughts and prayer's will continue to be with you CTR and your family. And I bet your looking forward to the future now things are on the up.
That first home game at OT will be a fantastic day with your son.
Congratulations and all the very best for the future to the 3 of you!

BUZZZZING!

I started getting worried that we hadn't heard any developments. Great news. How's the missus mate? I cannot imagine how hard it would be to give birth and then have to deal with this straight afterwards.

Agree0 Disagree0

Great news bud, hope the little guy comes home soon.

Agree0 Disagree0

Fantastic news mate. Everyday I have logged on hoping to see some positive news. Wish you all the very best. Take some screen shots and save them to show Jack when he's older that football unites people and that he had so many people rooting for him! Look after yourself mate.

Amazing news.

Agree0 Disagree0

CTR

Excellent news man. Best of luck to your family!

Agree0 Disagree0

The best post I have ever seen posted on this site and the one that has given me the maximum joy. Like others on here, this has moved me to tears, albeit happy ones! Congratulations mate. I can't begin to think how torturous the last 5 days might have been.

The baby is a fighter, Jack will come through with a full recovery, like SAF says "No doot aboot it". I am proud of being a part of this little family we have on the site, the support for the kid was amazing.

Finally, Rooney or Not, Moyes or Not, our playing style, our league position etc etc are just such tiny things in the grand scheme of things. LIFE is so much more important.

Love for the little one

Deeps.

Agree0 Disagree0

Way to go Jack. Your Dad is a super dad.

Logged on a few days ago and saw the messages of support but I didn't see the OP so couldn't really comment.

That's an incredible ordeal for the Redman family and it's great to be able to join everyone in celebrating the good news.

If miricles like this can happen, maybe we'll also buy a decent midfielder

Strong rumours that RVP will leave this Summer with Chelsea, Juventus and Monacco bidding for him. Hernandez also to leave with Rooney taking overs captain. I don't know what others think but I do not believe Rooney is captaincy material, we should be brave and appoint Phil Jones. I'd also be really disappointed if RVP leaves, he is still our best striker and if, next season, it's Rooney and Welbeck then we are going backwards.
I've supported Moyes and said he should get two years to prove his worth but his management of RVP hardly inspires confidence or loyalty.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

What exactly has Moyes done to RVP? I've heard him talk him up oh and the media have said he does not like his attitude but the media, have and continue to, say anything to denigrate us.

Agree0 Disagree0

RVP has spent 1/2 the season injured and the other half running around hoping someone might actually pass the ball to him. Unfortunately, on the rare occasions our incompetent wingers or midfield have managed that, he has too often fluffed his lines.

I would blame SAF more than Moyes. I am sure RVP was less than happy to have the gaffer move on after just one year. In retrospect he should have stayed one more and begun the transition himself. We probably would have had some better transfers in the summer, and the demise of the old players might have been managed better. Another year and a new manager might have had a better and more settled base to work from.

Agree0 Disagree0

My thoughts too Pea.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Mar 2014 09:04:33
Morning eds, what wingers do you suspect we could go for? Personally would love Sanchez or Reus but haven't been linked with them much. Names like Pedro, Gaitan etc pop up in the press. And you have said before that we may move for Konoplyanka?

Where does interest lie now in terms of wingers?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed004's Note - I couldn't tell you. I reckon your best bets would be on Konoplyanka and Di Maria}

Er where can I watch Ukranian soccer on TV? lol.

Guys, do you think Moyes was at the France game last night to look at Griezmann and Mangala? Or do you think he thinks he has a shot at getting Pogba?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

According to Ed002, Griezmann is on his way to PSG. Managala is too expensive for City so we're hardly going to pay that much for a cb. As for Pogba, no way he is coming back here.

For all we know he could have been looking at Vlaar, but no he must have been looking at the expensive players that we have zero chance of signing.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Nothing is assured about Griezmann but certainly PSG are well placed right now - although there is interest from elsewhere. However, I digress. Eliaquim Mangala has been watched by many clubs but an unreasonable €50M termination clause put most off firming up enquiries. Although both Monaco and Chelsea approached Porto about a deal, it would need a negotiated price to stand any chance of completion. The price has seemingly not dumbed interest from the Manchester clubs. I am told by someone Mr Moyes has had looking at Mangala on behalf of Manchester United that there has been a flurry of interest from Manchester City and both clubs fear interest from Real Madrid if they lose Varane.}

Ed002, do you know the reason why our interest in Konopylanka waned?

Did you get any other little nuggets of info from regarding MU from that scout? Thanks.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I really don't know why neither Arsenal or Manchester United made a move for the player. Right now there is effort being made by another EPL side to strike a deal so I doubt interest will return.}

I imagine Liverpool will go back in for him.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think Spurs will get him now they have time to convince him and money to spend. Perhaps MU and Arsenal have bigger fish to fry?

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed002, you say Real Madrid could lose Varane. Who could this be to, PSG? Thanks.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed004's Note - Chelsea}

Chelsea? Really.

Well there could have been another player who would have came to us had we signed Jose ;)

Biggest miss of last summer!

And I don't care what ed2 says had Jose been offered the job any 'agreement' with Chelsea wouldn't have came into his mind IMO

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - You have an extremely naïve view on the game and how it all works. I assume you are a big fantasy football manager player?}

06 Mar 2014 13:33:40
Moyes was in France last night to watch the France v Holland game where Pogba, Griezmann and Mangala all started. Also interestingly David Frio was complementary of Griezmann. I hope he is never the top of our list.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Fresh when you say never I hope you meant near lol.

Agree0 Disagree0

Stupid auto correct lol. Yes I meant near. Sanchez, Reus or Griezmann would be my favoured 3 - and I think we are starting to pay a bit more attention to him. Hopefully David Frio gets Moyes ear.

Agree0 Disagree0

Oh yeah still drooling from the performances of Vidal and Sanchez for Chile

06 Mar 2014 13:01:31
Hi Ed, is Moyes job under serious threat and do u think utd have enough faith in him to give him £100 million plus to change things in the summer? Thanks

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - He's fine.}

I think he will be trusted with money, but I don't think he is a strong enough manager tactically to be good enough for us. He will buy good players though, if he gets some of the targets we are linked with it will give us a good squad even if in a few months he is sacked - the new manager will have a great team to build on.

Agree0 Disagree0

As long as he is buying quality players all is well. Like you say Fresh if he gets the bullet its still a good squad for the next man.

Agree0 Disagree0

Not serious threat I hear but could come under scrutiniy if he losses more than than 8 games

Agree0 Disagree0

in certain papers Bayern have signed a midfielder from Frankfurt a 23 three year old on a four year deal hope this means they think kroos is off

Believable0 Unbelievable0

They have signed Rode. He was always going to Bayern when his contract expires, not sure he's good enough though.

I would not be so sure. Javi martinez is apparently making a move into the center of the defense, and Rode would not be a frequent starter. It would have a minimal effect on Kroos' position, especially since ROde is an out and out DM.

I think the development of Can and Hojbjerg ( who is one of the biggest talents in Germany ) are more relevant to Kroos' position.

Agree0 Disagree0

Another player showing signs of verbal irritation, Hernandez saying that he doesn't even get considered anymore. I think Moyes is really doing an awful job of leading this team, he has his favorites and sticks with them whilst over looking everyone else. Hernandez is a great striker who has scored some crucial goals for us - it's a shame.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

He has made 36 appearances the previous 2 seasons and is on 24 so far this season . Welbeck seems to off been ahead of him this season, but there is not a massive amount of difference in appearances under moyes v fergy .

Agree0 Disagree0

In fact has there not been rumours for a couple of years about him being unhappy with playing time?
Is everything moyes fault

Agree0 Disagree0

This season Hernandez has been worse than poor, his first touch has been terrible and there is no reason why he should be in the first team.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hes ok but has gone backwards the last 2 seasons he hasn't improved in any way

Agree0 Disagree0

Our two best strikers are Rooney and Van Persie, it's as simple as that. If Hernandez does not like that then he will have to leave. This is not Moyes' fault. Hernandez is clearly unhappy and has been for two seasons now, he will probably leave in the summer, but Welbeck seems happy to be a squad player and that is why I like players like Welbeck. You need players who are content with being squad players. I would like to see us give Wilson a go as the 4th striker.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sydney, exactly. Although I'd rather we keep just one of our strikers, and adopt a narrow formation with interchanging attacking midfielders.

Such formation would mean Rooney and Welbeck are our only out and out strikers, with Henriquez offering something different when needed. Wilson would get a couple of loan deals and come back for a squad place.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sydney! that's if RVP stays and tbh I can see him going in the summer, then we will need a quality striker

Agree0 Disagree0

I think we need to get rid of all players and start all over.

Chica can't play better than he is when he does not have enough time on the pitch to do so.

You guys complain too much.
Apart from DDG and Jones, every single player are under performing and got more chances than Chica, even playing worse than him.

Maybe we need to get rid of all of them starting from the manager.

Agree0 Disagree0

To pose the question. say RVP & Hernandez are sold. Rooney is the main striker, Welbeck second choice with Henriquez and Keane as back up - I actually don't mind the sound of it IF we play with attacking midfielder's. Mata behind Rooney with Januzaj to the right and Griezmann to the left would be very, very effective. I still can't bring myself to say that I think RVP should be sold though.

Agree0 Disagree0

I heard Wilson is going straight in the first team next season if he improves his physical strength, I for one would be delighted he makes the step up I have watched him first hand a few times and his touch and pace are right up there with world class players so its more than likely he will not be loaned out and given a chance to make the step up which will probably mean the end of Chica at United, but Wilson is by far the better player in the making so it would be good business to sell Chica for around 16m and promote a better player on less wages and use the money to strengthen were we need it most

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Mar 2014 04:10:38
I've just read down a touch and came across a post about how we can only play one or the other of Rooney and Rvp and the selling of one is necessary.

Then read its Rvp going?

Jesus wept guys!

I know he is many people's saviour, messiah, Demi god even but as a non Englishman I can see Rooney like many opposition fans can as a joke!

Made us out as a joke (twice), got the best deal in prem history off the back of a season where the best manager in the game wanted rid of him, has flirted with city, Chelsea, moyes's ring and ended up stinking of roses and having fans turn coats AGAIN and jump on the Rooney bandwagon of support.

Tell you what, when discussing potential signings do you want the guy desperate to join to win trophies or the one coming for the money?

Because that's what we have with Rooney and Rvp and far too many of you with your white and red face paint on can't see past your nose and realise that one of your own countrymen have taken this club for a bigger ride than ANYONE has in the past and came out with the fans calling for the head of the one man who's goals secured the title last season!

Honestly since the first episode he should have been gone and its only got worse since.

Although I'm not a clevers fan by any means I would gladly throw all my support behind him as a man playing for the shirt than that blindly following that tattie chops scouser to the detriment of our team!

Shocking!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

06 Mar 2014 05:37:45
What the flaming heck are you on about? Wayne Rooney has shown respect to Manchester United, did you see his celebration when united scored to draw against a team that time, he's great and deserves 300 k a game

Muppets

Agree0 Disagree0

I think there are a lot of people who agree with you Jono and would pick Rvp before Rooney all day long. The funny thing is, if moyes does get the boot then we may find the new manager come in and prefer Rvp with kags, mata and one other behind him leaving Rooney on the bench.

Agree0 Disagree0

Anybody will be sacrificed to maintain Moyes position. Now rumours suggest Moyes is concerned with RVPs attitude and this is to give Moyes the high ground to get rid when chances are that RVP has seen him for what he is, a very ordinary coach.

Agree0 Disagree0

Very good post jono would have too agree with you on shrek and would also fear moyes is going to fill the team with a select few overpaid superstars playing for there pockets and not our club then fill gaps with average players ie welbeck wiggie.
To top it all after making Rooney top paid prem player even though he wouldn't even be in top 5 of the best prem players at mo, moyes is going to make him captain then he becomes club ambassador when we finally get the money grabbing scosser of the pitch!!
Its wrong wrong

Agree0 Disagree0

Oh the irony.

You talk about Rooney disrespecting the club etc & how people see past it. Yet fail to realise you annd others are doing the exact same with RvP, a guy who is nowhere near the level of Wayne Rooney in terms of what he has done for this club. RvP is clearly talking against the club in the Dutch camp, he criticised his teammates recently and had to apologise. RvP is clearly not happy and is therefore clearly not giving 100%. That is unacceptable. RvP is sulking, as has been known to do throughout his career. He is not the be all and end all.

On the other hand, When Rooney clearly wasn't happy at the start of the season, what did he do? He got motm against a team he supposedly wanted to sign for. He knuckled down, showed his commitment with his performances and earned the respect and love back of all the sensible fans who don't hold grudges and who respect him for everything he's given the club. The money he is on is not a valid point, it means nothing to us as fans, who cares.

I know which of those two attitudes I would rather have at the club long-term.

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree with you there Jono, RVP came to United to win trophy's, If he wanted the money why not go to City, PSG or Chelsea.

Rooney was at one point my favourite player but seeing how he took the club for ransom I would rather he have gone and other world class players brought in to replace him.

He slows our play down and makes us more rigid which in todays game is a burden. When Moyes gave in to Rooney's demands my heart sank just a little more.

Agree0 Disagree0

I forgot that RVP was playing for free.

Agree0 Disagree0

SteveC

Rooney to get his contract he wanted had to keep his trap shut this time. He knew that without the fans support a second time there was no coming back. It's funny you mention national teams as I'm sure Rooney's convos with Gerrard for example were all 'man Utd is great I really want to stay and win trophies and treat the club with the most respect I can' but wait Gerrard could only answer saying that convo will stay private while smirking. He knew what he was up to same as Gerrard had previously with Chelsea. So I imagine now they are all together with England they are all having a laugh and joke about how he has went full circle from public enemy number one to messiah while signing a contract not warranted in the slightest.

So when you talk about respect you cannot use rooneys running around a pitch as an example when the man is a joke of a professional. He has not been without scandal, weight problems, juvenile behaviour, stroppy ness, petulance etc etc etc was he showing this club respect then?

And the money is a massive point! You probably ask why a world class signing would deserve asking for a massive contract well wtf has Rooney done this last year to deserve it? You think that's not ruffled many feathers in the camp? You think every player is looking at Rooney as a future leader? You think they all to a man think he deserves it? If you do your blind! The team will have been behind SAF stance to move him on without doubt so to have a surprise retirement and new man come in to bow down to massive financial demands when previously guys like welbeck, brown etc couldn't squeeze an extra 10k out of us wil have made a mockery of all SAF and hie regime stood for, of which allot of players followed without hesitation.

Noses will be out of place at what has happened and its not going to change. Rvp will not be the first. I'm glad Ddg didn't go to Spain squad as there will be the next story. Chicho, rafa and others supposedly voicing concerns yet one that's stayed mighty quiet during this is the man sitting on his massive pile of gold laughing his sizeable t*ts off at how he is secure for life no matter how bad the team does!

He is not a winner he is a mercenary that we have just secured for life!

Well done us!

Red Man, I hope you're not listening to rumours, incorporating them into a conspiracy theory to suit your argument, and presenting them as fact again! What have I told you about that?

I think you forgot to add on, 'in my opinion' at the end :) or maybe it wasn't an oversight.

If RVP goes, then so be it. I love the guy as a footballer, and would certainly have him in before Wayne, but if he's going to be disruptive, then I don't care who he is, he has to go. Although I think we're a long way from that. One forthright post-match interview, and a lot of rumours.

It's got nothing to do with whether or not he doesn't rate Moyes, and it really shouldn't matter if he likes the manager or not. Most importantly, he would be disrespecting the club and the fans.

But like I said, it's all rumours just now, so no point in getting our knickers in a twist.

Dear mr Jono
That's the most twisted and inaccurate and most negatively biased opinion of Rooney he has ever heard
Ngiak humbly totally disagrees with you
Rooney has been the most hardworking and the only deserving player of the jersey and badge this season

Each to their own mate. I would argue that the only player worth his salt this year is my previous nemesis ddg, hasn't really put a foot wrong other than Sunderland clanger. Rooney has shown more effort than last year but I think many are realistically forgetting how bad he actually was last year and before that. Remember that man that was in charge last year that was desperate to have him gone? I would say he would have had the full backing of the team had he stayed and sold Rooney. Nobody would be questioning it but he had the confident Utd ready to beat anyone on their day whereas moyes simply couldn't come in and move him on incase it all went t*ts up and that would be the main 'failing' he would be criticised for. So if as predicted a few leave this summer and stories leak of unrest and dissent amongst the players at the way Rooney is being treated then would you say the team is better for him staying?

I wouldn't now even before they say anything. If you go by what gcu said he found out in their company it seems a fair few very influential players are severely pi**ed off at it all and grudges don't bode we'll in any team never mind one struggling.

Steve

Like I said above mate, if Rodney's deal has put allot of players nose out of joint would you not describe that as disruptive? Was he disruptive the last time over his contract? Yet as you said the better player is annoyed and voicing his concerns and its ok to let him go? I don't get that mate?

@ Jono

Wow, you really need to relax. Your blatant hatred for a Manchester United player is baffling.

I can't stand him Steven tbh and if his contract has indeed created more unrest in the players I cannot fathom how it came about he was even given one. As I said its a joke.

{Ed004's Note - I agree}

Jono, my views on Rooney are well known on here, mate. I would have had him shipped out before now.

I said "chances are" and you do know this is a banter site rather than my schoolbook. I actually thoroughly understand the principles of supporting the manager versus a disruptive player. However the circumstances need to be examined more thoroughly in this instance. If (note if) RVP is unsettled, so soon after arriving and performing so well last season then the club need to understand why he suddenly feels that way. SAF had power to make decisions like that but he had earned it and even then he got it wrong occasionally, Stam for example. It has to be put in context, he may not be the only one who is unsettled. As we know Vidic, his captain is leaving when the manager did not want him to, then there are the results and demeanour of the team. It is too simple just to get rid of a player in this instance. I believe you support the manager and if it was just one player disrupting then absolutely the player goes before the manager but I believe if it is true then the situation needs to be examined in light of the overall situation to find out whether there is a potential bigger underlying issue that needs to be resolved. We don't know what reality is but the club do need to know.

Ya!
Without Wazza's contribution, we would have been around 20 points below top 4 and u would be here happy about the money we saved and smiling about how loyal our players are. Shut up man! PSG ain't got loyal players nor Chelsea or rubbishty . I don't give a rubbish about money or anything else if a player gives his best in pitch. Despite being discarded from his fav position he is giving his best.
May be U r right mate. We should sell one of our best player and give the money we saved to Glazer's or eat burger enough for the rest of our life

Aakroz!

p s sorry edd! I am not able to log in from my cell here.hope u post it

When Fergie said about the opposition scoring first and how they were afraid of the backlash and theyd a fear in their eyes he wasnt wrong. When a team, especially a lesser team(no disrespect) went ahead early we nearly always won. Or at least totally totally dominated and shouldve won by 10. That was the mentality he instilled it was his one of his greatest assets. He could make talented rich men believe in whatever he told them. He was a HUGE character. A bigger character then the players.

Look at a lot of the top managers now, Klopp, Mourinho even Ancelloti to a certain extent, big characters.

Moyes just seems to lack this character the UTD players are used to. If Fergie played 3-2-5 we would probably still wouldve one, because he'd have made the players believe in it.

Moyes hasn't shown that his negative defensive team tactics are working or made our players believe in it. Mourinho can do it, Moyes cant.

He was not a big enough name to come in and change a century old club attitude of attacking entertaining football.
